Hi all,
I recently bought a redmi note 3 International version (Kate), my First Xiaomi device ever, mounting the last Global Developer (6.9.29). I immediately noticed a strange thing: looking at the apps, there is no way I could see the Google search App (the one of Google Now), despite I Always have bene able to use it properly (search bar and Now on Tap). After a couple of hours of use, i manager to discover that the App showed in the home screen "Vocal search" was displayed instead of the Classic Google App. I would like to know if it os something common for MIUI or it is a thing of my device/the rom I'm using.
Thanks in advice

Hello,
since two weeks I've a strange behaviour from at least two apps on a Nexus 5 (unchanged, like Google made it). I can't start these apps from the app directory and not from the (google) launch screen, too. One shows only a white screen after starting, the other one crashes.
But I can start them from within the play store without any problem. One app was installed some months ago (and worked a long time well), the other one was installed after the problem occurs.
Has someone an idea what can cause this behaviour?
TIA...
I've just got the xiaomi redmi note 2 recently and have a strange problem.
When i shutdown my phone overnight, leg it charge and turn it back on in the morning ill find a new application randomly installed. When i go into google play store and check out that app and hit uninstall i get an error saying "this app was not installed by google play store".
I tried running an antivirus, a cleaner and so on but it says i have no virus. I also have my settings to block unknown installation of apps.
Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
You got cooked ROM from seller, you have to change Rom. Put original MIUI
Some resellers put some bloatware on the phones they sell... That seems to be the case.
The best is a clean rom install, whether the original from xiaomi or a reliable custom rom. Like xiaomi.eu or one from the devs here.
Thanks guys
Hi everybody,
So yesterday I updated to emui and Android 9. Today I had to discover that the "okay Google" feature doesn't work anymore. If I open the search manually or drag up from bottom screen corners it listens but I can't fire it up with saying "okay Google".
I checked the options in the phone and the ones in the Google app an both were deactivated but not grayed out. The problem is when I try to turn them on they get turned off automatically in less than a second.
I think it has something to do with huaweis assistant wich I don't want to use. Is speech activation now blocked or is it a bug?
BTW I actually own a mate 10 pro but I posted here because I don't know if the problem comes from Android or emui and because the 20 came to my knowledge shipped with the update but the 10 did not.
Please excuse my English I'm not a native speaker and thanks to everybody
I set mine up did the ok Google, hey Google steps. But when I tried to use it, it wasn't detecting my voice. After a bit of fiddling around I managed to get it working. Below is what I did.
Cleared cache and storage
Disabled App
Enabled App
Downloaded update from playstore
Reboot
Setup voice detect
Retrained voice.
Tested it worked several times
Rebooted
Test again still works
Genuine question, why do you all use this feature? What uses does it have? I just pick up my phone to do what I need to do. I'm just curious, might even give me a reason to use it lol
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
It's a known problem since 6 months by Google on many many many devices
I just started a thread on this... It seems to me like the new Pie permissions are an issue and one of the coders didn't get the memo that now you need to make Google app or Assistant a Trusted Agent to unlock your phone. Been trying things for days to get this working.... Such a piss off. Especially when I'm driving and I need to say Ok Google, take me to the closest Home Depot. Gfs frustrating
Edit: if I get a ticket for holding my phone... I'm gonna blame it on Google
Two weeks ago, this paradox thing happened to our cellphone - the messaging system app while still installed and running properly, disappeared from the Play Store app list and as you can see from the attached screenshot, it now displays a message that "is no longer compatible with your device - contact the developer " and all this on an Android One mobile! I have confirmed this on 3 friends' mobiles and other user reviews in the app's play store page. Clear cache & data of the store as we usually do didn't help, so what I am asking is you check on your phones as well and propose any fixes (?) for this really awkward problem
Needless to say, even if there are app updates, we can't install them from the store as long as this message appears in the app page
I experienced the same. I side loaded the latest apk and it was good.
Problem solved as suddenly as it appeared on the Play store app description. Incompatible warning message disappeared, app updated automatically, all back to normal
Of course, we will never learn what caused all this mess
I think it had something to do with the new messaging feature they released. The ability to see if the other person is typing, seen and sent confirmations, etc.
Hello everybody,
starting about half a year ago, all the google services (gmail, calendar, playstore, maps, etc.) did not open anymore.
Today I tried to fix it by resetting the phone factory settings - unfortunately it did not work.
Second try was the googlefier app - but this one only works for emui 10+ - so its not an option for honor 8 lite.
Does anybody know a solution how I can make the phone run again?
Thanks a lot for your help!
My next thought was rooting the phone (and using it with lineageOS and GApps) but I did not find a way to unlock the bootloader (as huawei stopped handing out their codes)
Any ideas what else to try?
