Dropped my Sony Xperia Z5 Compact from my hands and now the fingerprint doesn't work. The screen says "Fingerprint hardware not available". I was using a silicone case all around so no marks whatsoever.
Can this be fixed by software?
Well, issue solved. Sony replaced the assembly under warranty.

I've been using my Xperia Z Ultra for 8 months but on Thursday the screen crack even though I did not dropped it. I was wearing baggy short pants around knee length and put it inside my side pocket. Honestly speaking i have no idea what happened. The front glass is smooth so i think it's an internal damage, no scratch/crack on the back glass also. Anyone had the same problem before? Should i try my luck and go to the service centre hoping that they will fix it for free? *heres a pic*h.ttp://i.imgur.com/5d68FlI.jpg

Worth. Why? Coz sony has problems with xz and xz1 and their breaking screens coz their screens are to big (physics is breaking it) and out xzu has similar screen, but bigger screen, so its more possible that screen will break "itself"

You can try, it looks like some people get them fixed ok, others not
So I have had the Xperia Z ultra for over a year, and today I have had a problem with the screen. The problem is that the screen auto-touches itself, so basically I can not do anything the phone I tried the next things to fix the issue, but the issue is still there :
- Clean the screen
- Remove the anti-shatter film
- Clean screen again
Does anybody knows a fix for this? Do I need to dimantle the phone to repair the issue?
Ok, decided to do some tests. I used a hair dryer to heat up the Z ultra screen, after that, the screen was more responsive that before (didn't go crazy, more than half of the screen was working all right.)
It is possible there was moist on the screen which caused the freak out .
Hi guys,
I have really big problem with my Z2, well I was drawing on my phone using I think it was black gel pen.
It left some of the ink on the screen so I took Z2 for a wash, I use just a basic sponge with some FAIRY Washingup Liquaid and the wash everything of the phone with water and now Z2 doesn't recognize any touch.
I've reset it, hard reset it, turn it off and no fix.
I really need my phone working guys.
Any idea to fast fix it ?
Also, no water was get it as all flaps were closed and I check the paper above sim and it's white.
PS, Power menu working totally fine ;|
Edit3: Is this a joke? It does react to water pour on it but not for my fingers -.-
Hardware damage-
It says that chemicals can cause damage to the device and what chemicals you may have used may have causes some water intrusion damage
It sounds like your digitalizer has become lame in terms of sensing your touch

Ohh, my bad. Will send Z2 for repair after christmas. Thanks.
I've replaced the screen assembly of my Sony Xperia Z2 Phone, but the touchscreen does not respond anymore.
I think i've knocked out the capacitor (or something along those lines) a few milimeters above and to the right of the display connector on the motherboard, does anyone know what part this is? I have a picture of the motherboard but can't post outside links.
Thanks in advance!
Hello,
My first Z5 Compact got replaced under warranty after the water resistance failed, and as it was mentioned from support, there was an issue with the device itself and was not user error.
Now, I believe the issue lies with the adhesive on the screen. All around the screen there is a yellowish tint, which from my experience is the adhesive to keep the screen on, and also helps with the waterproofing of the device.
Now, on both the previous device and the replacement one, on the left side the adhesive does not "hug" the border of the screen for ~2cm. I have not seen this happen on any other Xperia device I have owned, or any other device in general.
Is this normal?
I tried getting a photo of it, although its almost impossible to show what I mean on a picture, even on a completely white background where it's mostly visible to the naked eye so I have attached a picture from ifixit. The part where the adhesive appears to not be "hugging" the border is where the top left screw socket appears to be. I have circled it to make it easier.
It seems to me that the screw is pusing up on the screen, causing the adhesive to wear out from that point. I dunno, just guessing.
I am really not keen into keeping a device that will eventually fail me due to a manufacturing defect, especially when it's the same defect the previous one had.
If someone can confirm me whether the Xperia Z5 Compacts do have this cosmetic flaw due to whatever reason, and it's not a manufacturing defect that will have the waterproofing compromised, then i'll be a happy camper!
