Hello,
I am a new user of HTC phones, and bought a HERO after going through this website and reading the posts w.r.t. Android etc.
I have a few queries, which I am sure will appear quite basic to most of you, however, there are quite greek to me. I am in New Delhi, India and bought my phone a week ago.
1.
I have read about a firmware upgrade to Hero phones. However, the helpline here says that there is no firmware upgrade available. The India page on the HTC website also does not list any upgrade. My phone is unlocked, although it shows another carrier's logo in the first screen, but no other issue. My firmware version shows 1.5 and Build no. shows 2.73.720.5. Is this the latest version or is this upgradeable?
2.
There have been a couple of instances where my phone has frozen, and no button has worked. I have had to remove the battery and re-insert to get it to work again. Is this normal? I haven't had a smart phone before so I wouldn't know the actual behaviour.
3.
I dropped my phone from about 3 feet, and it opened up with its battery flying out and a few minor nicks and scratches on the body and not the screen. No other apparent damage, but could this cause performance issues?
4.
Is there a way to sync this phone manually without having to use Google or Windows? Can I directly access the phones contact list and messages etc, like a data stick?
Would appreciate answers.
Thanks in advance.
RK
Hi all,
My Galaxy S II keeps crashing. The phone will just power off and the battery will drain right out and the only way to turn it back on is take the battery out then charge it again. Sometimes if I am quick and realised it has crashed I can take the battery out and turn it back on and the battery will have drained 30% in an hour.
Does anybody know why the phone might do this or is there a way I can track whether something in particular is crashing the phone via a log or something like that?
Thanks
Yes there are apps that can do that.
So whats the score.......are you on latest o2 or latest unbranded.
Post the about phone details lol.
Hi,
It is on the latest H3G UK firmware and is unlocked via the Galaxy S Unlock app by Helroz (so via nv_data.bin)
4.0.4
I91000NELP4
Build: IMM76D.XWLPY
Any ideas and what is the app called?
Thanks
Hello,
Just thought I would take this opportunity to join this thread since I have been suffering from a very similar (if not identical) problem on my S2 too. It's quite lengthy, apologise for that - hope to give as clear a picture as possible:
- S2 originally from vodafone contract, am now with giffgaff
- 1 year and 6 months old
- not rooted, have always used Samsung official firmware
- updated to ICS 4.0.4 about a month ago(?)
- Kernel version 3.0.15-1056084, build number: IMM76D.BULPG
I must say I can't be certain if the random crashes started (it would sometimes heat up really hot, or sometimes not warmed up at all), phone will just turn off. Can't turn back on without taking battery out and re-inserting.
Similarly, the battery level will drop by 30+% once the battery is re-inserted.
Have experienced once where it started up in "safe mode" and although everything was still there, the apps I have put in folders were all listed cos the folders were gone. Restarted and it wasn't in safe mode anymore, but had to create new folders and sort my apps again.
The random turn offs can happen every few days, or twice a day. Don't know why it happens.
I haven't installed many new apps (some are by japanese developers but worked fine before and after I updated firmware), asked at a Vodafone store and they suggested it could be a battery problem. (offered to send it off for repair, but will take 7-10days and factory reset, which I want to avoid...)
So bought and changed a new battery (from Samsung website) which looked good (no random shut downs for a week) but it all started again last night. So it's not the battery.
Suspected it's most probably software problems.
After upgrading to 4.0.4 firmware, the phone cannot display phone serial number/network etc etc under the "legal information" in settings.
The battery log seems funny too, I would re-insert battery and restart, the battery log will still show it's been on battery for 20+hours.
I've also spotted that there're 2 OS running when looking at the battery log - when I upgraded from gingerbread to ICS, I did not do a factory reset (is that absolutely necessary?) but phone has been working perfectly for a few months after the upgrade so I thought nothing of it....
I wanted to post a screenshot but not allowed cos I'm new to forum... =(
Is it because there're 2 OS so it's clashing...?
Since I haven't rooted, I'm not sure what I can do - last resort is to wait until JellyBean rolls out from Samsung and factory reset when I upgrade?!
Hope I've given enough info to get help easier.
PS: Kies is testing my temper. Tried to solve the "this device is not supported by KIES" problem by reinstalling whilst not connected to internet, kind of worked, allowed me to backup small files (such as call logs) but when it comes to big bits e.g. photos, it will show the "unexpected error" message again.....
also got "wssyncmlnps has stopped" on my phone...
ARGH!!! just wana backup my stuff before it completely turns into a brick!

Me too facing above all, unfortunately riding in same boat.
Hey i've got an AUSTRALIAN VODAFONE model GALAXY S3 (i9300T). But now i currently reside in Turkey.
The phone had been rooted in order to achieve the SIM Unlock capability, got through that.
Then this GALAXY NOTE 2 came out and when everyone started buying this phone i ended up really liking some of the new stuff BEYOND 4.0.4. Because the phones rooted obviously KIES and ANDROID didn't ever let me upgrade to the new firmware.
So i went ahead; unrooted the phone, reset the counter and loaded up 4.1.2 firmware into the phone. Now it seems like im having RECEPTION issues, have i done something wrong? I have loaded up the UK version of 4.1.2 (i think)? It was downloaded from sammobile but its been a week or two and i just don't remember which firmware i put in there.
How can i improve my reception?
----
Question 2.
Sometimes i run into this weird ass annoying issue where, the phones connected to wifi the internet works completely fine. The phone gives no error as to whether the connections limited or anything.. But it just fails to LOAD up any webpage.. It starts loading the page with the blue bar and just gets STUCK, on ANY PAGE (excl. Google seeing how it's cached). This happens randomly i've tried triggering it, didn't make a difference, it happens on different WIFI connections not just my own. I did attempt a reflash of the firmware and experienced no difference.
Anyone else had an issue similar atleast?

App to SD...
Why doesn't it work??? I tried every program and well i got to one that told me the reason it isn't working was because the SD card was "emulated" ? or something..
----
Battery improving tips...
I'm no heavy user, however i use Bluetooth Audio/Headphones majority of the day. Occasionally once every couple days the GPS for about 1 minute for traffic monitoring. The occasional game (NFS MW i know this game isn't exactly battery friendly) but besides playing games.. is there nothing else we can do?
On my old S2 the aftermarket roms seem to give me better battery life.. I have taken all the precautionary measures, running battery till dead, then performing full recharges. etc.
----
Wireless charging kit
Is it worth it? im after USER opinions here.

Please everybody, i really need your help regarding this issue, i have Galaxy S3 T-999, and i used to install ROMs in it several times, everything was ok until one time i was installing a new ROM from XDA developers site and and when finished installation at the phone suddenly everything is dead and i couldn't switched on again or open the CWM .... i pressed the three buttons, i removed a battery and bought a new one, but everything is useless, till this moment no way to power on the mobile even can't charge, i checked in many sites regarding the issue but most probably it's from EMMC in the motherboard. i really don't know what to do and where to get this chip.... also in my country Netherlands no one help me because its a US model. please help me what can i do considering that the mobile is like new and petty i throw it to the garbage.
Hi. First of all greetings to all, I am new around here.
Well, it turns out I bought a second hand J7 Prime a few months ago and everything was working fine. A couple of days ago I noticed that the system was giving me enough failures and I decided to change the ROM, I opted for Android 8.1 Binary 7. The flash was all OK, but when it turned on it was only emergency calls.
Doing a lot of research (I don't know much about cell phones) I discovered that the original IMEI is reported, and therefore, the current one had to be entered with a box or something. I also noticed that the cell phone was rooted before flashing it.
I have passed him some ROMs from different countries but it remains the same.
I would like to know what can be done to get the line back. I have tried a lot of things but I don't get anything, I don't know what else to do. I do *#06# and the IMEI of both chips remain the same (IMEI changed). Thank you in advance!
