Greetings!
I found at a music festival 2 months ago an Z5C with pattern lock,i kept it open for more than 1 month,no one bother to call,so i put it in the drawer.
Today i decide to take a look maybe i can fix it and use it for myself...So that's what i did.
The phone has a pattern lock and i tried to flash/enter to recovery mode and some more things, none of them worked.
After a while i decide to give one more shot so i pressed volume up+down+power when the phone was off, after 5 seconds i got 3 short vibrations and now the phone is dead,no led when charging, can't connect to pc,dosen't respond to anything, anyone know what should i do? Also if i can open it again, what should be the reason that is not going in recovery mode?
Thank you for your time, have a great day!
to enter bootloader mode are you holding down the volume down button as you connect it to the PC?
Indeed,i did that with Emma software from Sony and it said that the phone is blocked(for numerous number of failed patterns i guess) I tried after that to do the same but still nothing happend.

This happened to my brother's xperia x10 during update to 2.1:
He tried to do an update to 2.1 via Sony Ericsson PC Companion, but it got to halfway and not further.
Phone was ok when he unplugged it and all working ok etc.
Next day, he downloaded Sony Ericsson Update Service & tried an update from there,
again, it downloaded the software, but could not transfer to the phone.
Since then his phone is basically dead. When the power button is pressed, a short green flash comes from the LED & the usual quick vibration on startup, but thats it.
Nothing else.
Does someone have a solution for this?
There are at least one hundred threads about this..no lie.
Flash mode and seus repair should do the trick..
Tried it, but when the third step comes in 'connecting you phone' (the bit where it says hold 'back' key while connecting, the phone doesn't even react to it and SEUS keeps searching for it.
I have the same problem and i have tried almost everything, Unbrick tools, 0.2.6 flash tool almost every firmware and still the same condition. Some green blinks and vibrates nothing more. Please somebody could come with a helping hand here.

Check SEMC drivers that could be, or cable integrity.
Guys, i was upgrading the ROM but this time i used this software, UNIFLASH , it showed some cmd windows, later phone automatically booted to cwm, and then turned off! since then its not turning on neither blinking any LED! guys, please show me a ray , help me! phone is not getting recognized by flashtool either :'( and same with seus
try to hold down power + volume up at the same time until you get the phone to vibrate 3 times, after that try to boot or get it into flashmode with flashtool..
remember.. flashtool is the way to go !
kindly report back or even pm me

have you tried the fastboot method, it´s in android development, "all you need to know..."
try to flash official stock fw like .452 or .45 with flashtool..try to connect the phone in flashmode....hopefully everything will be alright...
PEACE
guys, phone is not able to boot in any mode, it be fastboot or flashmode! its completely dead thats what i meant earlier. After a lot of researching the whole night, i was able to figure out that the bootloader is that the UNIFLASH corrupted the bootloader. So how to fix that?
try this: make sure you have enough charge and the drivers of your phone are installed correctly. (flashtool drivers)
power+volume up wait till vibrates three times,
then connect your phone to pc.
run the flashtool and prepare the firmwares youre going to flash,
a screen will appear and says turn off your phone....etc
hold power button + volume up wait till vibrates three times
then quickly hold power button + volume down.
it will flash the firmware.
just keep on trying.

its simply not vibrating! i held that combination for like 5 minutes continuous last night, phone has to enter either fastboot or flashmode for flashtool to detect! none of them is coming up, and no LED again when its on charging. complete dead complete mess!
By the way, anyone knows how service center people update the phone's software?

would you please enplane what is JTAG and how it works ?
Had the same problem yesterday!
Maybe a noob advice but here what was my mistake: after switch off the phone with volume up, wait for like 30 second before trying to connect in flash mode. Though my phone was dead but just had to wait a little bit before trying the flash mode. Flashtool heal it!
Sorry for my poor english, I'm french and this is my first post, but I follow xda since a long time!
Bye!

Hello,
I was so enthousiastic about the MM update that I didnt realize I was flashing the Z4 Table MM ftf to the Z5 compact. ****!! Now my phone seems to be dead. No vibrating, no lights no matter what I do.
I try to flash the correct ROM with Flashtool, but it doesn't recognize the device.
In device manager, the phone is not recognized "Unknown USB device, attempt for device descript failed" (if I translate correctly).
Is there something I can do?
Open flashtool. Select the firmware you want. And press on flash. Once flashtool prompts you, ONLY THEN you connect your phone while holding the power down button

Unfortunately it didn't work. I read in some other thread that battery has to die for the memory to reset, then recharge and flash. So I am waiting for this to happen... hope it's working.

If you're stuck on the Sony logo screen hold volume up and power to hard boot, there is no need to let the battery drain.
Download a fresh mm .ftf, load up flash tool and prepare files(exclude nothing), wait for flash mode prompt then plug in device while holding volume down(do not let go until it stays solid). It takes a long time to flash, you'll probably think it's stuck at times.

I got back from work and no miracle happened. Phone is still dead. The screen is black. When i put it to charger or pc, no led is blinking. When I do hard reset (with little buttin next to sim tray) nothing happens. When I attempt to reset with power button + volume up nothing happens, no vibration.
I tried repair with Sony Companion, it does not recognize the phone. Windows first recognized the device as some generic, then on second and following attempts reports a malfunctionion USB device.
Have I destroyed my phone??? I never unlocked the bootloader or even unrooted. How could I destroy vital parts of the system? Isn't there some low level something there that still should enable me to flash another rom? How can I get to this part?
I feel a bit devastated now. I actually never realized flashing had this danger (if bootloader locked ...)

try reinstalling your drivers also when you connect your phone to the charger do u get a charging light ?
did you try a different USB cable, i saw it hapen that crappy USB cables gives a bad flash, or doesn't recognize the device
If you really don't find any other solution, bring it to the Sony repair center/the shop you bought from and tell that it was updating to Marshmallow but after the restart, the phone was dead.
I highly doubt your phone will work again in the current state you've left it in.
I've flashed a boot.img from another device to see what happens, the phone just vibrates and turns back off. Can easily recover by flashing the correct boot.img, so it looks like yours is damaged at a lower level.
I assume the bootloader tried to update itself with files from the wrong device instead of checking.
Good Luck.

Thanks everyone for the support. I didn't have a chance to report back earlier due to work. I want to describe everything as good as possible, so maybe other people having the same problem later on can refer to this thread.
When I put in the charger, no LED is turning on.
I tried a different computer (win7), installed flashtool and then ALL drivers included with flashtool drivers. No help.
I left the charger on for many hours, the previous night I also tried what is referred to as the "rubber trick". Nothing.
I looked at several threads, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849170, http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/help/hard-bricked-power-to-flash-mode-t3004020, http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/help/help-bricked-z2-t3052671, http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/help/dead-m2-recognized-somc-flash-device-t3304758. As far as I can see none of the people who encountered similar symptons have reported back solving it other then sending it to Sony repair.
I contacted Sony support, they asked me to charge it, attempt Sony Companion repair. Of course it doesn't help. So I contact them again tomorrow (indeed telling after MM upgrade it didn't start) and then send it to them.
I just don't understand how this could have been happened, seeing what celderic reports. Is it even related to me flashing the wrong ftf, or could it also happen even likely while flashing the good ftf?
Is flashing ftf's even save? If not, maybe we should warn people more about it. (I always assumed as long as you don't root / unlock bootloader nothing can really go wrong, cause the important parts I am never allowed to touch).
Ironic, I was so impatient for FINALLY getting a working, performing phone, boy, did I prolong my wait. It is really ridiculous Sony could sell us this piece of crap that is slower than my old Blackberry Z10 and make us bear it for so long, and then suddenly they are able to turn it into a superblazer. Should have been like this right from the beginning.
How long did you press the reset button? I had a similar situation with my Z1C a few days ago. Misclicked without realizing it and flashed a wrong rom. Out of frustration and because I was talking to somebody I pressed a paperclip against the reset button for about a minute. At that point the phone did vibrate, went blank again and I could put it in flash mode.
Hm .. I pressed it long, but probably not a minute long. Can't try again though, phone is on its way to repair center.
By the way, someone asked, I used original Sony cable.
Got my phone back working today. Very good support from Sony!! Only took 5 working days. (I'm in the Netherlands)
Hi,
I make it short... I did some experiments with my Honor Oreo and made it wrong.
So I tryed to restore it via DC Phoenix... after DC Phoenix finished flash a firmware smartphone turned off
- Black screen (like it's off)
- No Led's blinking
- Doesn't turn on
- Does nothing when put into charger or computer
- Button Combinations for Fastboot or any other thing doesn't work, it just doesn't turn on.
- Long pressing power Button (15 sec+) or any other button won't do anything.
- Tried to leave it on charger for atleast 60 minutes... still nothing happens.
------------
So do you think I can save the smartphone anyhow or did I just destroy it? :/
Thanks for answers.
Same experience after trying to restore with DC Phoenix! It's completely dead now.
I happened 2 times similar to the 2 earlier Honor models. I took them to the service and just said that I had no idea what happened, after a few days they called me and I got a new one. they could not fix it, and they also did not see that I was doing root and the rest, so I got new phones back

How much you did pay to Honor? You had to pay full price?
Sorry for pushing... just interested if anyone have an idea how to revive
Have you tried plugging into pc and immediately holding vol up (or is it vol down, can't remember, it's been a while since I was in fastboot) then from there try to flash TWRP
I think while powering on (or 1sec just after) , it's :
USB connected and Volume-Down = Bootloader mode
USB connected and Volume-Up and Volume-Down = Firmware mode
Volume-Up = Recovery mode
Volume-Up for more than 3 seconds once on unlocked bootloader's screen = Erecovery mode
whatever it is, you should be able to get into fastboot when you plug it into a PC, even if nothing else works, as you plug it in hold down the appropriate key for fastboot, i'm pretty sure a similar thing to whats going on now happened to me a while back.
Look this thread :https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/help/test-t3736007/post77708528#post77708528

Phone revived see my thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/how-to/revive-dead-honor-9-hardbrick-connect-t3846500
Okay so my phone can't be turned on , when i try to turn it on it gets stuck to sony logo. Now i tried everything i could find on net i tried holding buttons until vibrates three times , i tried yellow off button , i tried turning him off and not touching him for a day and then charging for a day and again nothing new. When i connect it to pc via usb it gives a sound and pc see a new device but it stays as unknown i tried sonny companion and it doesn't work for it. I used flashtool and when i have turned flashtool and plug it with holding volume button up it recognize it , but when i try to flash it nothing happens. Basically while it recognize phone without trying to flash when i try to flash nothing happens , holding volume up gives a blue light , volume down a green but with volume down nothing happens at all pc doesnt react to it that way at all. I am probably rumbling but thats cause i don't really have experience regarding this sort of stuff , phone is out of warranty it was my sisters phone she switched to new one and i took this to see what can i do with it but as i said its stuck at that sony logo. I should probably add that is heating up about a finger or two down from camera position, somewhere half way between where camera is and sony logo on the back. Is there anything i can do or is it bricked for good ? As i said before i can't turn it on to give permissions to flash is there a way around that ?
