Does the Xperia Z5 Compact support ethernet adapter with stock ROM? - Xperia Z5 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to connect my Sony Xperia Z5 Compact to RJ45 ethernet, using some micro-usb to ethernet adapter. Android supports it starting from marshmallow, but no idea if Sony introduced the feature on the Z5 Compact. Even iOS supports it, on both iPhone and iPad.
Anyone knows if it's possible or got it working?

There's a custom kernel which claims to support usb to ethernet rj45 adapters:
AndroPlus Kernel for Xperia Z5 / Z5 Compact
I'll test it and report back.

it seems stock rom for z5compact has not this funciton as used to have previous sony phones

I didn't test it yet, because when you unlock the bootloader of newest Xperia devices, it wipes a partition including important DRM information. It's possible however to make a backup but it's a pain in the ass, and I'm not sure if you can restore everything back to stock.

Hello, what is this DRM for? I used to downgrade xperia devices whenever after a update ethernet functionality was gone, using flashboot. The devices were seond hand bought, though , so i had not to think of violating eventually remaining guarantee. Most xperia i tried had this functionality but seems after 5.1.1 it seems difficult to achieve.

- Sony credentials restore after unlocking the bootloader
- [Z~Z5 Series][EXRxTHS]SONY DRM FUNCTION RESTORATION FOR UB DEVICE | Z3 lines support!
- Xperia Z. Restore DRM keys.
- Unlocked bootloader, lost TA partition and DRM keys, can Sony fix?

Forget this phone, LG V20 and Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ support OTG USB to ethernet adapters. See more here:
[TIP] LG V20 H990ds supports OTG USB to Ethernet adapter
(OTG) List of USB to ethernet RJ45 adapters that work with Nexus devices

please show some more respect for great Sony! S8 is actually only the first Samsung phone probably to support Ethernet ... and mostly because of DeX ;

Xperia M4 Aqua and USB OTG!

Hi.
I'm thinking about buying this device, but have question for people that have already this device or know the answer to this.
Does this device support usb otg so I can connect usb drive, xbox controller etc?
Waiting for answer.
Apparently not. I've just plugged my USB flash drive in with an OTG cable and nothing.
they're screwing with us. Its not a cheap phone after all, so sony could add support for this, but nooo....
I read somewhere that Android M will have native support for flash drives, and giving the fact that this device is new its high possible
that it will get Android M support, with could possible fix that problem.
Android M?? No. I don't expect that Sony will release Android M to us...
I just want to have a very fundamental function - USB OTG!!!
Come on, Sony...

Sony announced an update t 5.1 for the M2 and M2 Aqua see blogs.sonymobile.com/2015/06/04/android-5-0-lollipop-rolls-for-the-xperia-z-series-android-5-1-coming-for-xperia-m2-and-xperia-m2-aqua
So I think there is a change for us to get Android M.
(Sorry for the text link, I'm not yet allowed to post links directly.)
OTG doesn't work on my M4 aqua.

Seriously? Sony will update M2 to Lollipop 5.1 and it has already announced a Developer Preview of Android M for Z series (plus two or three minor model).
We'll surely receive Android M.

Today sony announced that the sources fir M4 are available on github. So even if Sony won't create 5.1 fir us, there is a good chance that there will be a cyanogenmod ie other alternative roms.

As you can see in the attachment, sony has confirmed that we will get official Android M! I think thats great news, I saw Sony committed on github... They committed into a new branch called 'master' Its newer then lp so I think thats the M device tree.
Lets hope for Google to release M soon, then we will have it also soon

Can't we use a powered OTG cable?
I have seen them on some sites.
Xperia L got OTG support through a similar method.
Please confirm i am really looking forward to buy the m4 aqua.
Overheating is okay as long as it doesn't overheat while calling.

I had a Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 LTE and too no OTG support.. But when you use Y OTG cable and add software otg support, it worked.. Maybe here it will same?

What cable are you using? I have Y type USB otg cable and i tried putting power to the one end through either usb port of pc or charger but nothing happened. I tried several softwares from market. If somebody succeeded with certain cable and software please post links.
Can you kindly check whether sony m4 aqua has a usbhost driver. You can check this via AIDA64 app, goto devices in the app. What i believe is that if a usbhost driver is present otg should work.but sony removed powering up of the usb device.
Hence it might be possible to get otg through a powered otgcable.
Xperia L got OTG through a similar method.
I didn't buy the m4 because of otg problem and lack of storage.
It is not a cheap phone too.
OTG is a must.
I checked but do not see such thing in devices in aida 64. We may only hope on future update to bring up this support.
recently bought the m4 aqua DUAL
i was wondering if the m4 aqua dual had the same overheating issues the regular m4 aqua does, the most up to date firmware version is one month newer on the dual than regular m4
m4 aqua:
Latest available software: 26.1.A.2.99
Release started: 2015-07-17
m4 aqua dual:
Latest available software: 26.1.B.2.102
Release started: 2015-08-03
so is it safe to say the dual update has eliminated both overheating and performance issues? i got the dual version instead of the single slot version because it comes with 16GB of memory
Don't you see a usb host driver like this?
We should send sony support aski
asking for otg via a firmware update.
Otg is a must for this mobile.
Sony e3,m,m2,C,c3,sp,t2 ultra all have otg
Only phones which do not have are e1,e and e4.
We should ask to add.

I will try to add it in AOSP 5.1.1 ( can anyone try it, coz I'm a bit busy? )
There is no such driver unfortunately. I hope that sony will add it in future.

USB Audio issue & Xposed installation Arm64
While I am loving having a standard android experience on my Shield Android TV, I don't seem to get any audio out via USB. The DAC I am using is locked to 24 bit 96khz and shows as being synchronised but I get no audio. Audio is still coming out of HDMI. Everything worked with standard firmware. The setting for preventing automatic USB audio routing in developer settings is switch off... anyone have the same issue and know how to resolve?
Also - as mentioned by another poster - I am receving an error when trying to install Xposded. The error message suggests that it is looking for the arm (32bit) version rather than the 64bit. I am pretty certain we should be using Arm64 - so am I doing something stupid when trying to install via TWRP?

Still not getting USB audio (24bit/96k) in the latest versions of the ROM. Is this a problem for anyone else? Really need USB audio so will need to go back to stock if this isn't going to be resolved. Happy to try and help with any troubleshooting.

Messed up big
Hello all.
So I followed this guide but I messed up on one crucial step. Instead of just wiping user data and cache I also wiped (system). In any case I was able to flash the ROM and it fully boots with all the sweet animations but it boots to a black screen. I only see the mouse and that's all.
If I hold the power button I only get the option to power off.
Any tips?
Note: very inexperienced with Android but overall technically inclined
please help need a zip to recover my system in adb sideload
hey guys need some help i soft breaked my device and need to flash the update 1.3 to get it back but i need it in zip form to get it to load in adb sideload its the only way to install on my shield console i have lost the driver and my computer wont recognize the drivers when i install manually need help bad
I have two questions.
1. I tested Ethernet,the rom can‘t work in 1000m,only 100m
2.vpn not use
3. I want to use nfs. But found no nfs file manager。
thanks!
could someone with privileges incluye a thread about dvb-t and dvb-t2 tests?
I'm noob in xda and have not publish 10 post yet
But I think it would be interesting to check the stv
capabilities with USB dvb t/t2 tunners especially
with the complete lollipop room
If the kernel includes all the requested modules
I will try to install a tvheadend to stream TV to
all the devices..... Like hdhomerun but with a 30$ tuner
With the x1 CPU I'm sure that can to connect 2
or more tunners to do pvr or stream different channels to devices
Thanks in advance and excuse me if is not the place to post this message

I've rooted and installed the rom and working well. Very nice work! I am having problems installing Gapps. Perhaps it's the wrong version. The link sends you to a github link and I've used that. Nvidia Shield controller no longer works after full Android is installed on Shield TV
I was able to install full Android on the Nvidia Shield TV. The problem I have now is that the Nvidia Shield controller no longer works. Is there any app available that would enable the Shield controller to work with the full Android on the Shield TV?
Thanks Zulu for the amazing work.

Beelink mini mxiii change rom
Thnks for the info.
Can you please tell if it is possible to change the rom?
Again, thank you.
Just in case anyone is still figuring out to root/upgrade this - I managed to install Android 6.0.1 on my mini mx-g (16/2) by flashing Ugoos AM1 1.1.1 from their official website here; Mini mx (8/1) can flash AM2 1.1.1 instead
To flash TWRP, you'll need KIII Pro Android 6 TWRP which you can get from the file attached... (unable to find the original thread link! ):
SuperSU will be pre-installed in the above rom, but one can also install magisk by flashing the TWRP and getting the boot.img file from the file browser (also attached mine if it helps)
I also wanted to enable sony dual shock wireless support which was possible after following the guide in this amazing blog - Connecting ps4 dualshock joystick via Bluetooth to Android
Hope this helps someone!
Bonus: My intention was to run Google Stadia, unfortunately device too weak.

Usb OTG support?

Does this honor 5x have OTG support? I'm thinking of buying it tonight
It was advertised to have OTG but currently it is not working and Huawei knows this. They said that it would be fixed in a patch but so far nothing. If you need OTG now then you won't get it but hopefully they fix it in the future.
---------- Post added at 03:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:37 AM ----------
According to a reviewer on Amazon:
I cannot get OTG to work even after following the steps recommended by Support (see below). Basically...we need to wait for a patch to fix OTG.
=============
Hello Erik, thank you for contacting Honor US Support, the Honor 5X does support USB OTG. I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble with connecting your current devices. One Suggest I have for troubleshooting is to do a our power cycle on your phone while the device is connect. This may allow for the connection to show up. As well there are a few applications on the Play store which you may be able to use to troubleshoot the OTG if the first step does not work. Please note that the 5X has not yet been released yet. It's official release will come on January 31st. At that time we may also send out some updates that will correct you issue.

MyTV Super Android TV Box

Hello Everyone,
Got a TV box lying around unused after subscription expired. It it possible to flash a firmware, with devices of closer spec?
Its based on Amlogic S812-NV processor, Samsung DDR3-1600 2GB RAM, Toshiba 16GB eMMC, Realtek RTL8192DU WiFi-chipset.
Did UART and attached the log herewith. Any directions on how to make i can install something like open source openelec, kodi etc?
You install firmware with usb burning tool

This is a generic TV box, not a branded one. There is no firmware from the TV company. The software runs on top of android, i cant access any android setting or recovery settings.
Toothpick method doesn't take me to recovery, it just loads the software/channels.
USB burning tool works, but always have error at 2% 0x1010504 Romcode/Initialize DDR/Read initialize status/Error
