Hi folks,
My tablet Z screen got broken last week so I'm after recommendations for places offering screen replacement services please.
The screen lights up when I got the power button but no longer responds to touch and there is visible damage to the screen.
I'm UK based. Tried contacting Sony but they weren't prepared to give me a ballpark figure
Thanks for any pointers you guys are able to share
John

I decided to move this thread here in hope of more experts seeing this.
I broke my screen and digitizer of my note 2, and I replaced it with a new one. Upon booting up I noticed that the phone keeps vibrating as if I was pressing one of the buttons, and when I tried to open apps they immediately stopped and returned to the home screen.
I then charged my phone fully and the problem disappeared until just now when the same problem came back.
Is there any touchscreen expert here that would know what could be the possible cause? And secondly, is there a way to disable the right button all together in android?
Edit: if I keep my finger on the touchscreen and use the spen, it doesn't bug at all.

Is it just the screen I need to buy, like this? http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Touch-Screen-Replacement-for-SamSung-Galaxy-SIII-S3-S-III-i9300-Blue-Tools-/370749916003
Or is it something else and how do I know what kind of screen/digitizer I need?
Well if the touch input doesn't work and display is damaged, you need the whole unit, which is expensive.
But when you drop a device, you never know if there us more (or less) damage. Its ALWAYS best to let a professional look at it to assess the damage.

Yes you need the whole above. That's what I did on mine. 20 minutes work. You'll have to move antenna, power and volume button, vibration engine, front camera+ light and proximity sensor from old frame to the one you bought.
To move antenna you need a hairdryer as the top part of it is glued on the frame.

Okay, thanks for all the tips.
If I choose to send the phone in for repair, will they see that I rootat and added a custom rom? if they do it, do you think them fix it anyway?
the root or custom ROM don't matter, since the warranty is void anyway
Hey Guys,
I have had my Galaxy S3 for around 4 months now, and I often use Skype to chat. Skype doesn't seem to allow the Display to time-out, so this often means that the Display is left on a static image for long periods of time. I didn't think this was going to be a problem, until recently I noticed that during one of the times I have fallen asleep whilst on Skype, the screen has been burnt and now I can see the display picture and Skype buttons burnt into my screen, and once you see that sort of thing, you can't un-see it.
So I was just wandering; Has anyone else had problems with screen Burn-in? Any ideas on how to resolve this? Would this be covered under warranty?
I am currently trialing an app that claims to fix screen burn-ins, but I am doubtful. Still worth a go non-the-less. I wouldn't be so hacked off, had there been some kind of warning from Skype or Samsung that there was even a possibility of this happening, as I was under the impression that this wasn't a common problem nowadays, I never had this issue with my old HTC Desire S.

Yeah it is Samsungs Display Technology it has the burn in issues. That is sadly a fact.

please ask questions in the correct section
In nearly all cases you dont actually see burn-in but ghost image due to display technology.
That problem also persists in Plasma tv's and old crt screens.
Such apps are usually capable of diminishing the effects to a level which is not noticeable.

I have the same thing - burn in on the screen - in my case it's from Opera Mini. The menu of Opera Mini in the bottom of the screen is burned in. Also I have burn in from Status Bar. I tried a lots of apps that have a goal to solve this but non of then actually did anything.
Like stated above it is Samsungs Display Technology that has those issues. IPS LCD screens do not have that problem.

One day out of sudden while using the phone causally, I found out that the touch isn't recognized in the middle column of the screen
I tried to take it to all the local shops but I couldn't find a replacement screen
Is there anything else i could possibly do?
Or should I just buy a new phone?
I accidentally threw my Swift X2 into the toilet last week. it was only partially submerged for a few seconds.
I switched it off, buried it in long grain rice and today - 5 days later attempted to switch it on. screen flickers, black stripe about 1cm wide on right of b+w boot screen then nothing.
should I just leave it for a few more weeks in the rice or is it doomed? a teardown guide would help to get the back off and improve airflow/drying. I've searched but couldn't find.
bought a cheap nexus 5x as backup but hoping my Swift will live again.
thanks for reading. any suggestions welcome.
Have you tried adding soy sauce?
