Pink line??? - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there friends
My girlfriend Samsung has this problem, it's appearing one pink line from the top to the bottom of the mobile, she reboots and it disappears, but now it's appearing way more often and it's getting problematic the amount of reboots, the mobile is still on the warranty date, but he as fallen to the floor I don't know if that was the start of the problem, if I try and talk to the seller I doubt they can help. Probably we need to pay for the fix? But is it hardware? Or some software? I don't know
Can some one provide me some type of help?

Screen Promblem -pink colour distorted ;(

Hello,
I have brought the GTab 10.1 for 3 months already from a agent in US, and it mailed to Hong Kong to me.
Everything is fine except very little newton rings occur in rare situation.
However, from this week, my LCD screen started with some colour distortion, which white colours all become pink gradually after long term use. It is not fixed and rotate same way with screen position.
I have phoned the agent in US but they refused to help me to send it back to Samsung and stated that Samsung will cost them charge to repair this problems. They just throw me to Hong Kong Samsung Custom Service to repair it which is cost the same.
Did anyone got this problems too? Did Samsung cost repair charge for repairing this problem? I need some evidence to argue with the agent. Please help!!
Thanks for any help!!
I suggest you chat with a live support person. Worked for me.

As an update,
After have a live chat with Samsung US support, they ask me to send the GTab back to have a check. They don't tell me if they charge for repair or not. Since I am sure I haven't drop it or related to software issue, it is almost due to faulty graphic hardware. I will try to argue with the agent again.
Hope all things fine...

Same issue here. I've had my Tab for over a year. lots of use out of it and have taken great care of it, but recently I'm getting the color distortion and it goes in and out. link below is another thread I posted pictures to regarding the 8 bit color bleed.. Any idea how to fix it?

[Q] After opening case, can't send/receive calls but have 5 bars?

I originally had trouble with GPS working intermittently and found the thread about bending the pins slightly and it worked. Now I have wonderful GPS signal but can't send or receive calls or messages.
WiFi works, GPS works, I have 5 full bars but I can't place or receive calls.
I suspect that opening the phone resulted in damaging something, but what? If the antenna is damaged than why would I have 5 bars?
I googled everything I could think of and couldn't come up with any clue, anything new to try would be helpful.
I was running Cyanogenmod 9 and ended up flashing the stock ROM but *NOTHING* helps.
Thanks,
Tim
Have you checked your APN settings?

Yes, I verified the APN settings. Even tried various other APN options that were recommended on other threads. Still nothing.
It's really weird, the signal displays sometimes 3, 4, or 5 bars and my other ATT phone works fine using the same SIM card.
Completely out in left field, but perhaps food for thought? http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=lyuGT3atgc8&desktop_uri=/watch?v=lyuGT3atgc8

Fixed - sent back to Samsung
I sent it back to Samsung for diagnostics. They said "Liquid damaged on PBA components" - which means the phone board assembly (main board).
Now I know for sure that I didn't get any liquid on any part of the phone what-so-ever, but since the repair was free, I'm not going to complain.
A suspicion is that the technicians are only given a few category codes to document the failure mode for the phone, and this seemed to be the closest one to the technician who looked at it.
What really happened is a mystery that may last for all time...
I can't wait to get the phone back so I can go rooted again!

The water damage indicators are in the screws you remove to get inside.

Huh - how do they know that? There wasn't any obvious way to know I tampered with it...

Maybe they watched you do the repair.
Bah
I have 2 Notes purchased second hand which exhibit the same symptoms. I tried everything, changing ROMs (including stock), modems, carrier unlocking, different SIM cards, restoring IMEIs, changed the power connecter board where I believe the cell ANT is, always got the 'Not Registered on Network' when trying to make a call. I could deactivate HSDPA and LTE in the service menu and still connect on the EDGE network.
There are a few threads on this subject, but the only way I've seen it resolved is sending the phone in for a replacement mainboard. Unfortunately that wasn't an option for me. Buyer Beware.
Well, I thought Samsung was going to repair it but they sent the phone back saying it was unrepairable.
They slapped a red dot behind where the battery sits and there's some kind of red plastic behind the antenna for the phone. So I know they took the back apart.
I called them and they said it's unrepairable, and I asked how can it be unrepairable - can't you repair the phone you invented? Anyway it's hard to get anywhere with them.
It's kind of weird though, everything works but no network lock.
Well, I guess I'll chock it up to experience and sell it on ebay and buy a used one.

Samsung refused to repair the unit under warranty - which is fine because I am responsible for breaking it and I don't expect them to pay for my mistake. However, I asked them to fix it and bill me for the damages and they said they couldn't repair it.
Huh, so I asked them how they can build such a nice and complex phone but can't figure out how to repair it?
They flat out refused so I asked to have it escalated.
The put me in contact with another customer service number and the first thing he asked was would I be willing to pay for the repair - of course! That's all I wanted in the first place.
Anyway, I paid $200 and this is the response concerning the problem and resolution. I should get the phone back by tomorrow in like new condition!

weak signal problem

Hi guys,3 days ago i got my TS and saddly i noticed that signal was weak. The thing is that outside i had 3 bars and in my house nothing..The most annoying though is that it does a long time to search for a signal, after it loses it
I took the TS to a mobile service center the opened it up and said tha the wires were all good but the signal adapter was really poor..
So the only way now is to send it back, but my fear is that i ll get it in two months and it wont be any better, sooo now i dont want to send it(maybe after September)
Beacause i can see there are many people having this issue,is there a way to boost our signal,i tried an app that seemed to work but only when i had signal...
thanks for the help
What ever you do, don't tell Omate it was ever looked at. They barely honor warranties for unopened devices, much less one that was opened and with a factory defect.

[Q] “Unauthorized actions have been detected. error

Hey guys, I've bought the s6 edge 2 days ago, Im getting this error notification: “Unauthorized actions have been detected. Restart your phone to undo any unauthorized changes.”
how do i get rid of that pop up message? I've tried both soft and hard factory reset, even went to the extent to reflash the phone at the samsung store, even they dont know whats going on.
i also factory reset the phone leaving it with factory apps, ( i did not install any app) just to see if it would show the same error message, which it did again every 5 mins
how do i fix this problem? I've searched online, its like a common problem and it happened before with other guys s4 and s5,
thanks!
s6 edge unauthorised actions have been detected
hi i have this problem as well on a brand new edge, i havnt done anything to alter phone, tryed factory resets and installing no apps etc and this message keeps coming up in the notification bar, i have spoke to everyone supplier (tesco mobile) manufacturer (Samsung) and security software developers knox and no one will give me any help other than handsets ganna have to go back, which is ganna break my heart installing all apps and spending hours setting phone up, i believe that probably all s6 edge phones have this problem and we need an update to security policy or software anyhow, if someone can help or find out anything let me no please, im not interested in rooting phone and potentially voiding waranty.
Unauthorised action
Hi, I am having exactly the same issue with my brand new s6 edge from within the first hour I had it. It's driving me nuts, can't find anything on the Internet on solutions just that the issue has been around before in the s5. Weirdly my wife got an s6 edge same day as me and doesn't have the problem at all, she didn't activate the knox app. I got a white one and my wife a gold one, not sure if there's anything in that but worth an ask. Come on Samsung sort it out.
mines a uk white too, im trying to hold out a couple of weeks before sending it back as im going away, i just hope an update comes through, cause i dont want the hassle of sending it back.
ok , Mine is happening on the white one is it same as for all of you? ,
My white one 64gb have the same problem!
Is this only a issue by white one?
well its looking that way but i cant believe that the different colours were flashed with software any different, update us samsung please.
Seems related with preinstalled knox.... but maybe not.
I have the same issue. I couldn't find a solution unless to send the phone back or root it.
Is there any diagnostic tool to identify the application triggering this issue?
well got excited this morning got a Samsung software update, but guess what unauthorised actions have been detected still came up i think a security policy update is what we need, im ganna try and message Samsung again.
I have the same problem. It seems there are many phones affected. The Samsung Hotline say: We know it, but we have no solution. Please exchange you phone at your dealer.
I have both the T-Mobile S6 Edge 128GB white and G925I 128gb white I just received this morning. I have this issue within an hour having the G925I but never had any issue with the T-Mobile version since I got that one last week. It's super annoying.
Seems like its an issue to some of us, but not to everyone or else this thread would be flooded
I have the same issue with my s6 edge in white. It's SO annoying ?
does anybody have this same problem in black s6 edge or gold?

Same problem here S6 Edge Black... Would love to have an update / fix for this other than rooting the phone and taking it back...
I had the same problem. Spent hours trying to fix it and spoke to Samsung on the phone for quite some time. Apparently there is no fix and I was told to return the phone. I have a new one coming in the mail today and am crossing my fingers that it does not have the same problem.
be really interested leanne to know if your new phone is ok?
So far it seems that this one is fine. I updated to the most recent software, cleared cache and am using smart switch to reinstall all my stuff. It's been going for about 45 minutes and no security issues as of yet.

Wasn't a new update, but since the phone was made. Still doing well, no problems at all.

Phone rebooting

I have been using the Samsung galaxy note 4 for the best part of 10 months with no major issues, except the phone getting hot, most noticeably after the Lollipop update in April. From Wed 29th*July my phone has been freezing, and then immediately rebooting with no rhyme or reason; whether I’m on an important business phone call, checking business e-mails, using a messenger app, browsing the internet, or even if the phone is just sitting there untouched. On several occasions it will just appear to shut off or get stuck on the Samsung logo screen and the only way to rectify this is to pull the battery out. What’s worse is, the phone gets really hot during these reboots, and upon restart, the battery drains by 5-10%. In fact, the phone can get so hot that it is actually uncomfortable to place it in my pocket. And that’s just because of the reboots, and not general usage. Simply put, the phone is no longer fit for purpose.
The fault first appeared on 29th*July 2015. The phone just randomly restarted whilst I was using a messaging app. Then, during one of the several random reboots that occurred hereafter until Tuesday 4th August (the day I went to get my phone repaired), I got the message, “Downloading. Do not turn off target!!!”
The phone was stuck on this screen for 5 minutes, so I had to take the battery out to get it working again.
On another occasion I got a more sinister message, “Kernel panic upload mode” which really concerned me so I rang the nearest authorised Samsung repair centre – Fleet Mobile in New Eltham. However, after having a word with them, they said they don’t fix the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
So my next port of call was the CRC Samsung Repair Centre in Surrey Quays. I spoke to them on the phone on Friday 31st*July, and explained my problem of constant rebooting and the inexplicable messages in as explained above, so they suggested I pay them a visit.
On Tues 4th*Aug 2015, I visited the CRC Samsung repair centre, and I told the assistant about the issue and the messages I received as per above. The assistant said he had never come across such a message before, so he went to ask the technician. He came back and said the technician too had never come across this message on an Android device, and that it was “only specific to iOS products”. So I asked if I could speak to the technician myself and tell him that I had seen this message on rebooting, but I was told by the assistant that the technician was too busy to have a word with me. He also said that the technician had been dealing in Android software for many years and had never seen this message appear. I wanted to tell the technician that this was not just specific to Apple products because I had witnessed it with my very own eyes.
So the assistant flashed the phone at the store and told me that it was taking a long time to boot. I was told they would have to keep it for 2 days. I asked what likely work would be carried out and his answer was, “that is something the technician would have to decide.”**So I asked him what his thoughts were, and he said it’s more than likely that it’s a hardware issue and that the motherboard (PBA) would be replaced free of charge.
Whilst at the repair centre on the day of collection (6th*Aug), I noticed that my Android version was 4.4.4, but my phone had 5.0.1 installed when I gave it in. At this point, the warranty was still intact. I gave the phone back to the assistant to update my phone to 5.0.1, and questioned him as to why this had happened. His reply was that even though the IMEI number of the phone had been transferred to the new motherboard, they forgot to update the software. I was obviously very suspect at this moment, because it showed poor workmanship and neglect.
On returning home that evening, the same reboot procedure happened again a couple of times, and my heart just sank because I truly thought that my phone would be fixed. During one of the reboots, I got the message, “"Kernel is not seandroid enforcing. Set warranty bit: kernel". I was hugely alarmed by this message and rang the service centre on Friday 7thAug, informing them of this. They suggested I bring the phone back in for repair.
The phone continued to get hot, freeze and continuously reboot multiple times last night. I ordered another battery from Amazon (total cost, £12.00) to see if it would help the situation. The following morning the phone was off even though it still had 50% battery the last night. I tried turning it on but it just wouldn’t switch on. I plugged the charger in and still it wouldn’t switch on. The new battery arrived today so I inserted that. To my amazement, the phone did not start up. I am now left with a completely unusable phone.*
Now Samsung are saying that due to these error messages, the Knox warranty has been tripped, so the warranty is void. They're suggesting that the phone has been rooted by myself by installing some unauthorised software. I've argued with them saying i have never even thought of rooting my phone because i wouldn't want to void the remaining 14 months warranty that is left on the phone. They have said i may have unintentionally installed some app that has caused the phone to be rooted. I only download apps from the Google play store. I even rang Google I up amd they verified that i had not installed any illegitimate apps.
My question is, can an app root a phone?? If so, how?
Does anyone know what caused the random reboots and the error messages described above. To me it sounds like a fatal hardware issue but Samsung are pretty sure it's software related. The problem i face now is that Samsung refuse to fix the phone for free because the warranty has been void, which i don't buy.
I'm wondering if they installed an old motherboard which may have been rooted, but they are adamant that they only replace with new motherboards.
Someone please help me out here. I am not willing to pay a single penny to get it fixed because I strongly stand by the fact that I have not rooted the phone and hence voided the warranty. Samsung Knox is a flawed security software.
