dead screen?! - OnePlus X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, I just dropped my phone for the second time. The first time my screen cracked a little bit but noting to big and everything still worked. No today for the second time, on the left bottom corner of the phone. No new cracks in the screen, but the back got cracked and the corner is damaged.
The phone still displays the notification light, and shows when its charging. When I keep down the power butten I feel the phone vibrate like turning on, but no screen on. My computer also detects the phone when I plug it in. but once again no screen on.
Do you think there is a way to get the screen back to life, or is it dead? Meaning I must replace the phone or screen.
Update 1:
Phone screens is all snow when i can turn it on, not moving.

Are you sure, I would say it's a broken screen.
For me the cheapest / quickest / surest way was to make it repair by official support.

There are several applications which allow you to control a phone with broken screen on computer. You can find in xda apps and also hacks section. If this works, meaning pc shows phones startup screen etc., your phones screen is broken. It also gives you the chance to backup a few things.
By the description you gave, I would say screen is broken. Check ebay for replacement parts if you are handy, or like previous guy said oneplus service (which could be expensive for you)

thanks for the reply. it's indeed my screen but it works again, sometimes... there most be a bad connection so its falls out now and than and i have to give it a gentry tick to get it back.. i will get it fixed soon

[Q] Xperia X10 won't turn on.

Hi. The phone application was not functioning well and the F/C dialog showed up. I powered off the phone and from that point, the phone won't turn on.
The battery was fully charged before this happened.
When I press the power button, the phone vibrates for half a second, the screen brightens up but does not show anything but a black screen.
I removed SIM and SD cards, removed the battery and performed the above steps but nothing happened.
I also tried to put on the charger to see what's going on. Once I plug the charger, the phone's screen brightens but shows only blank (even without pressing the power button)
When connected to the charger, the green light for charging is on for some minutes, then goes off automatically.
I tried to connect it to the PC, and PC Companion finds the device as usually. It even shows the dialog on the pc screen to mount the device.
I tried a hard reset, but does not work
On some point, the sony logo appeared and then a dialog saying: "sorry process system is not responding". The first time I pressed Force Close and the phone turned off. Immediately after that, the phone turned on and showed the exact message. I pressed "Wait" but nothing happened in the next 15 minutes.
I called Sony's support center and they suggested a software update. Did the process exactly as it should, but again, even after the software update the screen shows nothing but black. It is all the time brightened for some reason.
I tried to turn off the phone for some time by removing the battery, but as soon as I put the battery back on, the phone's screen brightens and stays that way forever.
The phone was functioning perfectly up until this issue. The only application I had installed apart from some games, was AWDLauncher. On the screen I had only a TASK widget and a battery status widget.
The phone is 3 months old and has been always in perfect condition.
ANY help would be appreciated!!!!
Many Thanks
Try to format phone with this method hope it should work as it seems the issue is with OS only ..

I tried the steps found in the link you gave me, but I couldn't go any further after step no (5) from the tutorial, as it would require to enable Debugging mode and I cannot access the OS (since the device won't turn on).
Is there a way to format all the contents of the device and have them replaced by running SEUS (as it always says that my device is up to date now)?
Was it this:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup.../detailed/updateservice/xperiax10?cc=gb&lc=en
That Sony Ericsson told you to do?
If not, use that.
Download it, follow the steps when it says you have the latest version, press "Install Anyway".
Hope this works.
Hi itTim. thanks for the response
this is what i did but no improvement at all ((
Sounds like you broke your LCD screen somehow.
That would suck because I broke mine and it cost me $200 to fix.
Hi Hypercore.
Yes that could be the problem. The thing is that I always took rally good care of the phone, always carried in a leather pouch and never droped it. How sensitive is this lcd anyway?? Did you notice any cracks on your lcd or was the problem simillar to mine?
Thanks
When you turn on the phone does the lcd backlight turn on?
If so, look for any faint lines of color (usually a hairline size). If you see any of those then your screen is cracked.
the backlight is on, but there are no lines of colour on the lcd screen.
another weird thing is that the green light on the top blinks one or two times every time i put on the battery. even if the phone is off, once I insert the battery turns on automatically after a couple of seconds.
If all else fails you could try to flash back to your original fw with the tools here:

That won't do anything.
I had almost the same issue. Nothing worked. But, when I removed the battery and left it for a day (24h) without it, it just started working again. Still working without issues..
Good luck!

Phones are very wierd pieces of technology. I once bricked my k610i and that's a phone that's supposed to be impossible to un-brick, but out of nowhere a month or so later i picked it up, hit power and it turned on perfectly. Made no sense at all, but it worked.
Taking the battery out for a long time probably took all the electrical charges from it (kind of like how a computer power supply / monitor can hold power charges) and reset your handset.

Indeed. It could be a frozen chip, memory fault, power-regulator and so on.

if you have done this and did not worked , then it is the LCD.
send it to workshop and check it there.
Guys i Really need the solve of this problem , my xperia has blank screen now without backlight and the phone completely doesn't work . when i put the battery and prees the switch botton it gives me 3 red signals , i've updated and hard reset but it didn't work , and btw the LCD is fine , any idea. did removing the battery worked???? . please answer
After a looooot of time since my latest post, finally my Xperia came back to life. There was a battery failure which means the phone was ok all the time. Weird thing is that the led light showed that the battery was charging ok. I removed the battery and after a lot of time it is working ok again. This was really really odd.
FYI for anyone else that gets this issue.
I just had this for the past hour after trying to change my baseband....could not get it back for anything.
What I did finally try was run another baseband via flash tool, connected to usb and it started flashing....after flash phone powered on again...yeah I agree with everyone, that is freaking scary when it happens.

[Q] Need help powering off Lumia 800

Hi everyone.
I dropped my phone today, and the screen broke.
The phone still seems to work properly, but the classic signs of a broken LCD are present: purple screen with many many lines and nothing legible.
I have ordered a replacement screen already, but I cannot get the phone to shut down and stay turned off.
Since the screen is broken internally, it does not respond to my touch.
I can hold down the power button for 15 seconds but that does a reset, and the phone automatically turns back on.
Is there anyway to keep the phone off other than by draining the battery completely?
I need to keep it powered down so that I can disassemble it safely.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

I don't know of any way, but as long as you are careful while disassembling you should be fine. You should be able to pry the screen out enough that you can disconnect the battery before disconnecting the screen. I doubt disconnecting the screen with the phone on would damage anything anyway. I believe people do this iPhone screens all the time to test them.

Wet Phone confirmed working, but black screen.

Hello once again audience,
I have a big problem, and this is exactly what happened since 3 days ago...
At about 7 A.M. my brother was brushing his teeth and he sprayed water onto my phone by accident or something, so I thought it was just a little bit of water and just wiped in away. I did not TRY to use my phone until about 10 A.M. when I realized the screen was not working. I pulled out the battery and reinserted it to try to boot it, however I only saw the Samsung SII wordings for a split second before it blacked out.I let it run for awhile and then I realized that the touch key lights are working, and when I tap the center of the lockscreen I feel the vibration where you unlock your phone the little lock symbol. I retried this 5 times before giving up. Then about 5 hours later, I tried it again and this time it booted up nicely! Everything was tip top, except that 1 hour later it blacked out again... So when I reached home, I plugged in the charger when it is switched off and to my surprise I see the charging logo, and I tried to boot it up and it worked. It worked for 2 days. On Sunday, 2 days after the incident, first thing in the morning I wanted to check for whatsapp messages and I realised it blacked out again. This time I had ENOUGH! So I put it in some rice and checked on it every 4 hours. So now, I think it has improved. When it boot up I see the flickering of the Samsung SII wordings as before and then it boots into the ROM fine just black screen with working touch keys and everything else. But now when i turn the screen 'off' and turned it back 'on' using the power buttons I see catch a glimpse of the 4.2.2 lockscreen clock (very dark but clear) for about 1 second and it blacks out, just like when the Samsung SII logo pops up. This has been going on for about a day. What do you all suggest I do? Keep in rice? Keep it charging? Turn it off and try my luck hours later? I really need this back up as soon as possible, and thanks button would be pressed where it is due!
Thank you all for this too long message I really want it to work again!
In rice & don't touch it for a week, but given you've already used it immediately after it got wet, the damage may already be done.

Oke, lets say it's damaged, it's the screen that's damaged only right? hat would be chep to replace, yes?
The screen/digitiser are replaceable (whether you can do it or not depends on how confident/dextrous you are), Google search/eBay will give you an idea of how cheap. Or you could always ask a local mobile repair shop (then you'll obviously pay for labour, but if you're not confident enough to do it yourself...).
Edit - Mr eBay tells me I can get one for just under AUD$107
I would eat the rice, then sell the phone on ebay as "water damaged".
I have the same problem but its not water damage . The phone screen isn't turning on but the sounds and touch keys are working. What should I do? I have pictures on the phone and want to print them or save them but the screen won't turn on. Agh!

If the device powers on normally (except for the screen) and you don't have pattern unlock or other security enabled, it's a simple matter of powering the phone up and connecting to a PC via usb.....
The files should then be accessible via the windows explorer program.....

[Q] Black screen, no charge

Hi everyone,
I purchased a used AT&T Note 1 ( i717 ) with some cosmetic defects. Ordered new parts from various vendors. Everything on the phone worked okay prior to repairs. I replaced the front bezel and put in a new screen with glass. The screen and glass came as one unit. It was almost $200. After the minor phone surgery, which took about two hours, the phone power on. The Samsung logo shows for about a second, the the screen goes black. Phone rings when I call it. All the buttons work, but nothing shows on the screen. I can put it into download mode, and the screen displays the download mode on it. When I try to go into recovery mode, the screen is blank. Also, with the phone powered off, when I plug in a charger, all I get is an image of an empty battery with a circle in it. I ordered a new battery, and the same thing happens. Again, screen only stays on in download mode, and battery won't charge when the phone is off. Please help. I'd hate to think all the money and time spent was for nothing. Thanks.

More courage than I to do the work. All I know is you are not the first to have this problem. If you ran a search on screen replacement, you would most likely find this out and the solution.
Good luck.

Go back and check the ribbon cables and the pin connectors. These are always troublesome and very easy to damage, the video cable in particular. Another thing to check is that the on/off button is not obstructed in some way by the new bezel.
Lastly, do you have an external charger for your battery? If the new battery is factory fresh you may need to charge it prior to putting it in the device just to check that the USB/charging port is working.
Good luck.

Thanks for your replay. Checked the cables and the switch a few times, and it didn't correct the issue. I ordered a battery charger for Samsung batteries. Should be here Friday. I honestly believe it's a battery stats issue. At least that's the impression I get reading other posts, but I can't get into the recovery mode to reset unless there's a way to ADB without a working screen. Thanks again.
Phew... The external battery charger did the trick. I removed the battery from the phone, and fully charged it using a Hyperion Dual charger. Re-inserted the battery, and turned the phone on. At first, phone turned on with a black screen, but once it booted up, I swipe unlocked the phone. The screen flickered for a few seconds, and voila... phone is again fully functional. Thanks everyone for very thorough, and insightful posts. Xda-developers.com Rocks!

HTC Desire 826 Screen Blackout

My friend got his new HTC Desire 826 in July 2015. He is having issue with his phone, the screen totally blackouts. He doesn't want to repair the phone because it has no more warranty and will cost much to repair. He asked my help to recover any data possible from his phone.
This was the info I got from him: The phone would restart itself once in a while in the recent few months of use (almost the time that the warranty ended). The screen would black out sometimes, a physical hit on the phone helped to recover it. At the last few moments before the screen totally blackout, the screen showed the mirror image of what it's suppose to show (he had to put it in front of a mirror to read the message). And then it just died and never come alive again. He can't remember whether he set the phone to silent mode.
What I did: Removed and put in the battery, pressing power button gives me a short vibration (I assume that means it can be turned on). Dissemble and reassembled the boards, flex cables etc. No burn mark or broken connection seen. Connect to TV using MHL cable, no signal detected. Soft reset by pressing POWER + VOLUME UP button, it vibrated and screen was still black. Since then, charging after turn on doesn't shows red light below the front camera. The metal cover above the motherboard was usually very hot whenever the phone is on. I'm working like I'm blind, omg >_<.
What's wrong with the phone? What should I do? Possible to repair? Some questions I'd like to ask.
1) Using MHL, does the phone screen need to be working then the TV will show what's on the phone screen?
2) Is there anyway I can connect the phone to other external screen and control externally?
3) I'm hesitant to repair the phone, the heating up of the motherboard scares me that the phone won't last long even after repair. Anyone has this phone and how do u go about this heating issue?
