Hello, can anyone tell me how longer last your battery life with normal usage?
i've tried everything but my battery last less than 2h in normal usage, and not to be able to unplug the charger is pain in the head
Am using MiniCM7 by nobodyatall!
Thanks in advance : ]

Mine used to last about 4 days on stock rom, playing with nAa's kernel kind of buggered it up for me, so i'm not using that anymore. I've got my battery back to about 2 days now, but it's very erratic.
But that doesn't happen to everyone, so i'm not sure where the problem is with that.

Check what is hogging ur battery. The time the screen is on is what hogs battery the most, but in ur case is very extreme.
Did this happen right after u flashed the rom? or after a few days?
Try a full wipe and reinstall it. If problem still persist try a different rom.
If still no solution then most probably ur battery is dying on u. Best if u can test with a spare batt to cross out battery problem.
mine in standby (with 3g enabled all time) goes between 18 to 27 hours, depends of the signal strength and signal fluctuations
using it, (with 3g enable all time) goes between 4 to 6 hours depends on what I was doing and if I was static or on the move.
app running almost all time:

dspManager
Multiling Keyboard

undervolt
swap of 512MB
compcache 26%

surface dithering - disable
SD cache - 1024Kb
On my X10mini depends how often I use it.
- 3,5hours of hard playing (from max to absolutely depleting the bat)
- 12 - 16 hours of normal using (internet, sms, calling, gprs still enabled)
- 2 days standby (with few sms, some calls...)
Latest minicm7 with latest nAa kernel, cpu smartassv2 122 - 600 (now at 691), swap partition 200MB, brightness about 25% - 50%...
i'm running MiniCM9-3.0.3 with the nAa-ics-04 kernel on my mini pro and the bat lasts ~10hours by normal usage (sms, calls, a LOT of twitter, g+)..
before i had minicm7 with stockkernel and the bat lasts ~6 hours.. after deleting the facebook app it lasts ~8 hours.. (the fb app used nearly 20% bat and i haven't used it..)
try to delete all apps you don't use..
sorry for my english.. i'm not a native speaker =P
On my battery stat page. Display is always at the top, somewhere around 60% :S brightness is set to Auto and I barely ever use phone in bright light. Display off time is set to 30 secs, but i cant make it any less. I need it to be this much. The whole battery timing is around 18 to 24 hous in normal usage. Dunno how long standby should be, never tried. Using MiniCM7.

What is time the screen remains on? I have a desireS, I can use it in 1 day or drag to 2 days and my screen on time will always be around 3 hours for both. with wifi/data on all the time.
Hi guys!
I would like to start a small project. The whole point is to find out in which circumstances battery is running down faster/slower. It's more less about consumption and I hope we all will benefit from that simply by knowing what to avoid and if some features of Gear S are really draining battery or if it's just a myth.
I'm really looking forward to update this project in time.
Because of the nature of this project. I would love to get some help. Even if one person wants to participate I'll be thrilled.
Each test takes quite a lot of time so we can get more results if we will work together. I choose to run tests for 10 hours as it will give us more accurate results than anything shorter. 10 hours seems to be right as smartwatch still can be used during the day and whats more important, battery can be run down before recharging and testing.
Watch always on (6th watchface) Wifi/Network/BT(unpaired) off - 10h: 22%
Watch always on (6th watchface) Wifi/Network/ off - 10h: 23%
Watch always on (1st watchface) Wifi/Network/ off - 10h: 23%
Watch always on (Watcher) Wifi/Network/ off - 10h: 25%
Watch off (6th watchface) Wifi/Network/BT off -10h: 9% Comment: I was expecting less usage. BT in GearS was still ON as it can't be turned off (but not connected)
Connected via Bluetooth (Watch/Motion/WiFi off): 10h 11% Comment: Apparently when it's paired with phone (sync) does not make much of the different
Connected via GSM without data (Watch/Motion/WiFi off): 10h 18%
Connected via GSM with data (Watch/Motion/WiFi off): 10h 20%
Connected via UMTS with data (Watch/Motion/WiFi off) - 10h: 20%
Talk time on UMTS with data (Watch ON, Motion off, WiFi off) - 2h21m Screen was lighted up few times just to have a look what's going on
[By saying BT off means that do not keep it connected to your phone]
[While connected to Bluetooth or via cellular network make sure to deactivate all notifications in GearManager App - test will be useless if any notification will be delivered to the smartwatch]
To do a test just after a day of use charge your Gear S fully. After reaching 100% still wait approx 20-30min, choose what test you want to participate, disconnect from a charging cradle, switch the screen off and set an alarm to check it back after 10h
Observations:
Having a "Clock Always On" is not that bad idea. During 10h test it consumed 13% more than without it (6th watchface). So we can assume that during all day (approx 16h) we're loosing only 19-20% of juice. Is it bad? I don't think so... especially because you don't need to light up the whole screen just to check what the time is - which will consume some energy too... In the end of the day it still depends of that how often you need to check the time. If you are doing that very often, than "Clock Always On" is... lets say... more energy efficient solution (and looks much better than dark screen).
The only problem with "Clock Always On" is that, almost every touch, raindrop, wet sleeve triggers screen to turn on and it's very inconvenient for the battery life and it can messing around in the interface - it happened to me when i was walking in the rain.
In my opinion touchscreen should be inactive during that mode or even to give such an option to tick in the settings menu.
Thread to that issue http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s/help/how-to-stop-accidental-cuff-calling-t2991565#post58596115
What is your brightness setting when your clock is on? If it's set to "auto," then is this being done in a dark room or a bright room?
Seems like losing 20% of battery life after 10 hrs of clock mode on is reasonable at average to high brightness. I wouldn't mind a "clock always on" mode where the brightness is set to min and then the display brightens up when I either touch the display or wake button.
I currently use my Gear S with the "wake motion on" and I'm ending a day of 12-14 hrs of moderate use with 35-50% of battery.
My settings:
Gear S only connected to phone via BT
Wifi off, mobile network off
Set vibration intensity to low (don't see many people talking about this option)
minimal notifications
minimal apps
S voice to wake is off (have to turn off via S Voice settings on Gear S)
Minimal black clock face (batteryclock app)
Screen brightness to auto
I periodically go in to close all recent apps.
I'm always setting brightness to auto but in this case it doesn't really matter.
If you set to max or min ClockAlwaysOn is on with the same level of brightness.
On auto brightness there is no reaction too. Regardless if it is outside in a sunny day or in pitch black basement.
Also during a test just after disconnecting from a charger I'm switching off the screen with a button and after 10h wake it up with a button and straight check battery level. So brightness level won't change much for these 3-5secs
So the current battery life thread is very long and very jumbled up.
Lets start a thread for non rooted phones and try to keep it organized following this format or something very close.

That doesn't look too bad. Looks like you were on track for 4-5hrs SOT by the end of that day.
You could try turning WiFi and Bluetooth scanning off. Also you could try an alternative Facebook app such as Metal.

I've seen a lot of people complaining about standby drain that have it installed even with notifications turned off. My phone wasn't going into doze until I uninstalled it.

Any ideas how I can improve my SOT? I only seem to be able to get ~3 hours SOT in a normal day, which seems to be way below what others are getting. I'm not sure if people are exaggerating or turning off a bunch of things, or if something weird is really going on with my phone.

Well Facebook shows up in your stats as the biggest battery consumer.
First things first, think about trying an alternative like the Facebook mobile page with Chrome notifications, or another app like Metal that is more battery friendly and also has a dark theme that will help use less power when the app is in use.
Also you could try restricting Facebook's access to your location. You could also try turning WiFi scanning off

Played Golf Stars for about 30mins. Browsing on Reddit, various forums, played with some settings in nova launcher.
Easily would have been over 5hrs SOT if I used the rest of the battery

Has anyone noticed better battery life when using Nova Launcher over GEL? I just made the switch and it seems like in seeing less drain when using the phone.

This didn't work out too well - Metal has absolutely destroyed my battery today. I'm not even on track for 1hr 30mins SOT today. Think I'm gonna go back to Facebook.
I seem to be getting a lot of power drain from the mobile radio, although I'm not sure if that was just Metal. Also, I have a magnetic implant in my finger and I can feel that the phone is doing something that'd require quite a lot of power (the vibration is quite strong - I've never felt another phone I've held at all) a lot of the time when I'm holding it - possibly the radio?..
The PC version of Wakelock Detector generally hasn't given me anything interesting either (the usual Nlpcollector, etc.), although I do have ~10 hours of TrafficIntentService_onHandleIntent wakelock today; again I think that's the radio due to Metal though.

WOW, it looks like something (most likely metal) held your phone awake for a very long period of time. This is odd, when I replaced facebook with metal I noticed a big reduction in battery consumption. I don't use notifications though, maybe there is a bug as I did see that a couple days ago there was an update for Metal that had to do with the way it handles notifications.
Have you tried just using the mobile facebook page on Chrome?

No, and I'm not convinced Facebook is particularly to blame to be honest. That day wasn't very typical; today is more normal, as Facebook is only at 2% battery and top battery consumers are GPS and Android OS again. GPS has consumed 6% (200 mAh) today for example. My SOT is 48 mins, and has only used 82 mAh on the other hand and overall my battery is at 63% (so I'd be on track for only 2.5 hours SOT today again).
From what I can tell the mobile standby drain due to Android OS and GPS on the 6P (outside of your home WiFi anyway, where I think it might doze better) is fairly constant, and I still have no idea how people are getting anywhere near 6 hours unless it's all in one sitting or a bunch of features have been switched off, or they're not using the phone for anything like what I am (connected to Moto 360 all day, an hour or so of streaming Google Play Music, minimal SOT).

Some services apps use such as requesting location wont show up as the app itself in the battery screen. It will go towards Android System or Google Play services.
I am connected to a Moto 360, but I typically do not stream much music.
I'm at 48% right now and a little over 3hrs SOT. A good hour of that was playing games.
I don't let Facebook and some other apps have access to my location.

Usually most of the time WhatsApp, a bit chrome, a bit xda. Ca. 30 minutes music (speakers). I'm currently pretty ill so I can't use my phone much
I replaced the Facebook app with "Metal" and I turned location and Google Now off for investigation. Normally I got these two things on.
Over night I'm losing 4-6% battery since doze isn't kicking in. I did a factory reset a few days ago. It worked for one day...
