[Q] Time2Touch MC701A 7" Android Tablet

I'm not sure if this is the right section for this tablet as I don't know who makes it, I'm looking at getting two of these while they are on offer at £99. The spec seems good for the money, 1.2GHz ARM Cortex A8 Processor , 8Gb internal 512 ram sd card slot, front camera, 1 x USB2, 1 x mini USB, 7" TFT multi touch Capacitive Touchscreen, Android 2.3. Has anyone got one? Thanks. And sorry if this is the wrong section.
Hay I have one on order they are very even priced n reseanable specs for 200 quid tablet at half price
U can root this tablet with superoneclick
Just need xda to open a thread for development as I'm sure there will be a few dev who.might get this as this is a great deal for a mid range tablet
xXx The Best Things Come To Those Who Wait xXx
I'm awaiting delivery of this tablet myself, the only info from a user I have found so far is on slatedroid (Can't post the link as I dont have enough post count here yet), I have posted a snippet below.
"Bought this and expecting it tomorrow (thursday) And boning up on it now for rooting etc..
Time2Touch MC701A
It came today and its fast and robust, Already rooted this tablet using superoneclick, Very happy indeed"
"First I would like to say, Sorry for the late reply.
It came with Android Market on it, when I got it, which works - Shes not had any problems running any Apps which shes downloaded, anyway
and Yes it runs BBC iPlayer with out any problems - so I have seen.
Oh Yes and I got this off their Ebay sellers page:
Ebay Seller for £119.99 at the time."
It looks and sounds like a capable tablet and easy to root with Superoneclick, i'm looking forward to delivery
Have you got this tab yet? Thinking of getting 1 for my daughter but don't want to spend her money on something if it's not good at the basics... does it handle Where's My Water ok? ;-)
The tablet came today and I am very impressed so far, very quick, good screen, good battery from what i've seen so far. It's much faster than what I thought it would be, but then it does have a 1.2Ghz ARM Cortex 8 processor!
Am in the process of setting up right now, not rooted yet but will be, bbc iplayer works but could only get it from an apk online, it didn't appear in the market place, even though i am in the UK??
Great Buy, would recommend

I'm wondering if anyone may be able to help me. I've just ordered one of these and I'm trying to order a memory card for it. The spec says this uses a TF card - is this the same as a micro SD/SDHC card or something completely different.
Sorry if this is a silly question to ask but I'm not the most technical person in the world!
Many thanks.
Hi Yh u can use a micro sd card up to 32 gbs

Mine works fine with ICS. I am waiting for the latest JB to come out bugless:fingers-crossed:
I just had a LCD screen issue that the suppliers fixed under warranty.
The phone does everything that it is supposed to do.

exactly, best price/performance ratio I have ever seen in smartphone area, but still, it isnt flagship, never was intended to be, never will be. If you want good phone for good price, go for it, I can only recomend. If you want really high-end phone, or just bigger screen, there are other options, but not DX.
if you have a low budget then buy this phone... its not that big and super fast for games and others...
if you can afford a more expensive phone then buy something better
but just to know that devs started working a lot on this phone and it will become a lot faster
Am looking phone for gaming without lags
which is best for tat?
not much costlier
I would say go for Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini . It's got 1GB RAM , more internal storage and a better graphic chipset .
It's just a little more expensive .
One of my friends has it and it just feels alot more polished and smooth . The extra-RAM are no big deal though . I can play NOVA 3 on my DX and still have about 100mb+ free RAM , but on S3M it lags less . I guess the graphic chipset helps alot .

Nope do some tests before you say that. In windows when the ram is full or already used or the program needs more the program crashes then you have to close/exit it manually. In android the system closes apps automatically to free up more ram for the app that you are currently using. More free ram= less lag. Ever wonder why there are so many scripts for ram/memory managment if free ram is useless. Anyway no use convincing you. Hehe just sharing what i understand. Cheers

desire x is a good device dont bother looking for galaxy s3 mini its not released nor will it release in india. The nexus 4 if released at the US price point is an excellent buy else if from what i have heard @500$ seems kindof pricey.
Look at LAVA XOLO Q800,Micromax Canvas HD, Spice Titanium s1 ,and all the other local brands if you aren't so hung up about custom roms(I for one am).
If you are willing to wait for say a month or so there is Xperia L(Available for preorder) ,Optimus L9 And ofcourse there is Galaxy Grand.
EDIT: #zen-mode-ON
the desire X is the true choice of Needs and Wants it is actually everything that you need(yes gaming is also very good eg Dead Trigger). But then what exactly you want a 10 inch screen 16 core processor 1TB ram the demands are endless so you have gotta make a choice a balance between needs and wants.

I am not saying that every last piece of ram is used by cache, after phone reboot, you have plenty of free ram, until you start acctualy use apps and fill cache a bit, but linux is working with ram not unlike windows, you said that yourself. I never said memory management is useless, ofc it is usefull, a lot, my point was that claiming "I can play NOVA 3 on my DX and still have about 100mb+ free RAM" has same value as "I had pancakes yesterday" ... I could have, while playing nova 3 much more free ram if I am after phone reboot (and plenty of other ways), I can have less free ram if I used plenty of apps before, it still wont change quality of gameplay, smoothness or anything (unless you really try to make it laggy with anything you have got, which is possible ofc).
quick edit: I am multitasker, I have never met any lag apart from starting apps and other "regular ones" android is handling this pretty good

ok got your point.i have a different experience so maybe we have different opinions. no point in debating. cheers
to the ts. i really dont like the cpu and gpu combo in the dx.. gpu not that good.. if it had a better gpu maybe i would buy this. go find a device with a good gpu from mid to high. this is just low end gpu. adreno 203 < sgx 531 based on my experience and benchmarks. so better find a cellphone with a good gpu that how i choose a new phone though.

I didn't mean that having more free RAM is a bonus , I just wanted to point out that RAM is not something to take into consideration when gaming . Speciffically , that it's got more than enough for any high-end game . Having enough or more than enough are both better than NOT having enough at all .
Indeed I am a lot more familiar with Windows' way of dealing with RAM , however I've seen how Linux works as well , and even though you are right in saying that using more RAM grants you better multitasking , the way Android handles the RAM on the DX is far from perfect . From my experience , Samsung devices manage RAM A LOT better than any other brand I've tried so far (at least on low / middle end devices) . HTC doesn't do a bad job , but it's not to be praised either , at least not on the DX . Then again , look at an LG's RAM management and you'll most likely start crying xD !

[Q] around 600MB free RAM on Samsing Mega 6.3 :(

I planned to buy a new Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3, but then I noticed the free RAM is around 600 MB .
Would this RAM be sufficient enough for a smooth multi-tasking experience and with many widgets. ? ?
Initially, I thought of Samsung Note-2 which has around 0.91GB of free RAM which ofcourse ifs more than enough for any kind of multi-tasking.(but its too costky )
Is there anyway through which I can get more RAM on "Samsing Mega 6.3" ?? ?? ?? .. ....
What I thought was, the device has a total RAM of 1.5GB , so if I root the device & remove various redundant applications which I dont need & replace the launcher with a light one,
then will there be a chance to get around 800-900MB of RAM ?? ?? ??

Like they say, unused RAM is wasted RAM. In my experience the RAM is more than enough to do multitasking. I have not yet experienced any slow down because of RAM even under heavy load and I have tried having multiwindow with popup play running on top.

I echo that JB handles rame really well as mentioned above unused ram is pointless and android will kill apps or processes in memory as and wehn required that way you have a smoother experience throughout as apps are able to refresh quicker, yet when needed will be killed off by the oom memory managment

indeed it is, great phone indeed
My i9205 had around 1.1G ram of 1.32G used when new (just after boot). I uninstalled several samsung applications and it decreased to 0.9G used. If I "clear ram" I get around 600mb used. It seems to help, Chrome is seldom killed now, I can have many pages open and it does not need to reload them when coming back after doing other stuff.
You also seem to have a bit of a misunderstanding with how Linux memory management works.
It is easier to pull the RAM out of cache, and cache RAM isn't reported as "free" even though it essentially is, because it can be pressed into service as soon as it's needed and is a lot faster than taking it from the hard disk.
Linux also doesn't need "free RAM" to just be there to operate, a phone with 1.2GB "Free RAM" won't run any faster than one with 400MB free unless the processor is doing something in the background extra.
If anything, the one with 400MB will seem faster because it probably has the apps you use loaded in RAM without using any CPU so as soon as you try to open, let's say Facebook, it was already cached in RAM so it just boots right up.
Long story short, if you have 600MB free RAM, you have nothing to worry about in terms of performance on the phone.

[Q] Need Ram Solution For my Phone

I have 1 gb ram on my phone and yesterday i flashed new rom...now i have only 270 mb free ram i want more because i have not installed any app since i flash new rom why system consume 511 mb's of ram itself hope you will help me to solve it out
I've got a phone with the same amount of RAM as you (Galaxy Nexus) and 270 MB free is pretty normal for me. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
If you're willing to give it a shot though, installing a custom kernel might squeeze you a little extra RAM. I've installed one that disables 1080p recording in exchange for a few dozen MBs of RAM; you might look into seeing if something like that is available for your phone.

Ok Dude But How Can I Find Custom Kernel For My Phone ?
Which phone do you have? You can search for it in the XDA Forums and search through the android development section for your device to find a kernel that works for you.
Why bother with how much free RAM you have?! Its the management of RAM that matters.

3gb ram 32gb ROM vs 4gb ram 64gb ROM

There's this 2 versions of Redmi 5 Plus ...
The 4gb version worths the invested money?
My doubts are:
- The 3gb ram can handle reopening browser (mainly Opera to me but could be Chrome aswell just for the sake of testing) without reloading the webpages each time??? If so please tell me..
- Should I choose the 4gb ? It has some other major improvements over the 3gb ram ?
I just don't want to waste money for no significant improvements. Thanks! :fingers-crossed:
I think it's more important 64gb storage than 4gb of ram
For me 32gb it's not enough.
There are many videos showing the miui memory management problems on YouTube. (look at the comparative VS videos).
3gb is fine with stock Android. But miui has very bad ram management. It closes background apps much faster than stock Android. So, if you need multi-tasking it's advised to go with the 4gb version.
(4gb on miui seems worse than 3gb on stock.)
I'm on 4gb and happy with it so far.
Edit: That being said, if you come back to your browser after open perhaps 4 or 5 apps you should be fine with 3gb. But get the 4gb to be on the safe side. The price difference is only 20 bucks anyway, so definitely worth it).

It would be nice if I get paid in dollars, lol.. 20$ turn into 100 R$ (my local currency) .. comparable to 100 dollars to someone who lives abroad. It worths the investment anyway..
I have a Xiaomi Mi Note 2 (but it fell off to the ground yesterday and stopped working :crying .. Before I had a Lenovo Zuk Z2.. both with 4gb ram... I ditched MIUI in favor of Resurrection Remix .. What I can remember is that disabling MIUI Ram Management in settings it can hold a lot of apps in memory.. but as I said, my experience was not with 3gb ram..
Those comparison videos are not clear if they disabled the MIUI Ram Management.. so it would probably hold the apps opened in background (even with 3gb ram)... With 4gb it's garanteed to do the job..
If anyone here with 3gb ram can tell us your experiences regarding ram management and disabling that option, I would appreciate..
For those who are in doubt over prioritizing memory VS storage.. I would go for memory.. as the storage is upgradeable (with sd card).. memory is not.. and it gives you more time range to spend with the chosen device :good:

Sounds like an amazing rom to try, ¿do you have any link to get it?, can't find anywhere to dowload it, just a blocked tread here.

Dear seems rom post has been deleted don't know the reason but the rom was super awsom May be some one have its link today I accidentally deleted the rom other wise will upload on some sharing site.
been using the 3gb for some time now... it good for multitasking. 4gb is an overkill. you should go with the 4gb variant mostly because its 64gb memory, I don't think you'll notice a performance difference in because of the increased ram, tho it's always nice to have more ram; you never know when you might actually need it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Which one? Can you elaborate
I don't know, never used the rom. I've just read that some xda crew member closed the thread because of warez.
