6gb ram is enough for anything you through at it. All the apps once loaded are staying in the ram for almost ever. For once in the first week with my phone, I was playing contra on it and then left it as is. After few days, I wanted to switch to some other app and found contra there, it was still paused with contra shooting. I don't even remember how many days it was like such.
There is a feature where you can blacklist an app or allow it to be closed on locking of the device which will remove the app from the memory. This is to optimize the battery life. So other than the social apps and certain apps which I switch to mostly, I've blacklisted all other apps.

6gb ram is soooo goddamn sweet.
It handles multitasking single handed.
Good RAM management, all apps are stored in RAM quite well.
multitasking is handled pretty well. 6 GB RAM is handling this exceptionally well.
6gb ram is enought for multitasking and also relly impress with management.
ram is more than enough for heavy multi tasking..
You can leave all apps in memory and you'll still have some left.

How much of your RAM is consumed ?
Mine is always over 600 out of the 780mb. Even after a ram clear ?
Is this normal ?
Where exactly do you see the ram?
Does it bother you ? mine is smooth as butter, stock everything
Unused ram is just going to waste.

I have read this before, but I wonder if more memory is used then more battery is consumed. Isn't that right?

Loading and unloading apps all the time needs a lot more battery that keeping the RAM filled up. Both performance and battery life would suffer if the RAM would be kept empty.

i have this problem as well.. and when too much ram is consumed around 650mb on average for me.. my s3 will starts to lag sometimes when exiting from an app to the home screen. anyone has solution to this ? clearing the memory dosen't help much. memory still fluctuates around 600+ mb
Install a task manager with listing capability, e.g. Houmiak Taskmanager and check which process(es) cause the high usage.
It should not lag, usually that's caused by app service processes not terminating correctly when exiting/closing the app and filling up memory to the brink.
If you got such apps you might want to try 'Fast Reboot' which usually gets rid of them very fast with (imho) less performance impact than most other 'memory cleaners'
thanks.. i have thus far downloaded ram booster.. works great for me .. free up lotsa memory and now it fluatueting around 400 :good: now my s3 is running at the speed it should be
Im at 600/780Mb.
No apps running under active apps.
Yet if i hit clear memory, it says 21 apps closed and drops down to 530
I get high RAM usage too , sometimes can reach up to 680 but the odd thing is that I don't see any difference in terms of performance. It is still fast as ever.

Solution?
First off these forums are here for people to ask for help. Old threads have no new interest.
I stumbled across this in hope of a permeant fix as mine too is around 650mb and phone starts to lag. Only quick solution I have is to go into developer options and click background processes and limit the amount that can occur. I turned mine to 0. Don't know the effect on battery yet but its around 500mb now and the phone is now back to its smooth self.
Wont that stop software such as weather to update in the background?

Best way to preserve ram is to switch off your phone..that way it will have 1 gb ram..
[Off topic] killing background processes will make your phone like my Nokia 1100..with no multitasking..all the apps will close once you exit..and all the data will be loaded up when you restart again..taking up more cpu time and battery..

Quoted for truth.
No multitasking = slower phone, worse battery.

I was having the same problem with my S3 the first week I bought it. I switched it off and on again and it was back to normal
Just my point of view using a comparison :
On the computer when I installed more RAM it's to have more apps load in it instead of waiting for them to be loaded... Not just to have more RAM unused...
On the phone it's the same.
Android seems to handle ram usage very well, killing apps on it self when ram is required...
Reason I did it was when my ram was going above 600mb upon exiting apps my home screen would hang with no icons for a few seconds. Task manager, clear process and it return to normal. Limiting the process somehow worked. It's not logical but these are phones not computers.
There's no software trick on my mac that can increase ram like jelly beans has done so who knows.
Plus most apps apart from weather etc store their last state and resume where you left off so doing what I says does not affect me.

I too have this ram problem. I like that the phone is doing its best to keep the ram full for multitasking purposes but i hate when it lags when i go back to the home screen. Also sometimes i close an app to do something else, say texting, then go back and it has to re-open the app because android killed it to free up space. Couldnt it just cache it if it needs space instead of fully closing it?
I heard there was an update that fixed this ram issue but its not showing up for my phone.

It's the Galaxy S5 "Zoom" for anyone who doesn't already know.
Smaller screen, bigger camera.
Whatever happened to the S5 Prime?
The one that was supposed to be:
805 processor (64 bit)
QHD 5.2 screen
4GB Ram
Most of that would be icing on the cake, but the fact that the S5 stuck with 2GB RAM is really a big reason I'm not jumping on upgrading. Heavy multitasking with a number of apps running is just so sluggish with 2GB RAM.

hmm S5 2GB ram is getting the job done , I haven't found sluggish performance what so every in heavy multitasking & GS5 is smoother then Note 3 that holds 3GB.
The LG G2 with 2GB is a different story though , After kitkat update device performance became shot on many levels.
A great benchmark video found at ATT GS5 forums,

Wish that was the case for me. Even with a full wipe and clean install after about a half a days worth of normal usage my phone constantly is hovering around the max in RAM. I'm constantly having to goto the RAM manager to clear memory, otherwise tasks start to really become hung up in the response time.
Even things like a google search will become so lagged that the working circle just keeps spinning. Once I go and clear memory the search is back to normal like you would expect.
Unfortunately, this solution has to be repeated about every half hour and it's just really a major annoyance that it seems to be in need of more ram as my resources constantly seemed to be pushed to their max.
So why is my phone so slow and not responsive unless I clear the RAM if unused RAM is wasted RAM?
Even with clearing it, the least it will go down to in terms of use is .96GB - and typically shoots right back up to 1.37, 1.42, or 1.44 GB is use within a matter of minutes? !

Like people above me said bloatware. Have you even rooted? Or disable apps running in the background? Your never going to win by constantly closing apps ever so often. Heyy everyone,
I am looking for tweaks/apps/mods etc which can increase the performance of our Mido. Sd625 seems to me like a little downside on raw power. It's fine in day to day tasks, but games like Asphalt Xtreme tend to lag.
Also if you can suggest something for battery saving.
Or maybe some better alternative to below mentioned stuffs.
Here are the things I have currently been using..
~AOSPex
~Faust Kernel, with Gaming mode while in games.
~Greenify
~Servicely, to disable unwanted services, mostly Google play services.
~SD Maid, to freeze unwanted apps and clean up regularly.
~LSpeed, for all sort of tweaks.
~Trimmer, for file system trim.
~Speed up Swap, for adjusting swappiness.
Anything apart from this you guys know of?
I would be pleased to know.
Wrong place to ask.

Okay, use some app like Kernel Adiutor (not a typo), you can tweak a whole lot of things there, cpu governor for instance.
Also, I've experienced using Greenify benefits in performance gains in short term only, long term usage of Greenify may degrade performance. Repeating, this is my experience and I claim nothing about it.
For performance things, I don't really tweak my phone much, after trying nearly everything (except custom kernel) it seems like keeping phone to normal probably gives better results on long term. Just use that (1st line) tool to tweak small things. Also, just to tell ya, I don't play games.
Tell something about which ROM you're using. Also, are you experiencing lags over there?

When I run Google play store in background, other apps in foreground starts not responding.
3.5 gigs of RAM are excellent (~0.5 gigs are left for the GPU). What I don't understand is that why this device employs a 512MB swap partition which causes wear and tear of its internal storage. I'm sure as hell this swap partition cannot be disabled without rooting which I'd love to avoid.
Actually it is very smooth in terms of multi-tasking
is it just me or anyone else experienced the same thing? my recent apps keep restarting even when i got about just 4 or 5 apps opened. i checked the ram usage but it seems normal, it uses about 60-70% of ram. does anyone know whats going on here?
What i have observed is, android OS and system, and few other Google apps take up 1.5+ Gigs of RAM. I am not quite satisfied with that...
However the performance and multitasking is very good though.

Restart your phone. Happens to me a lot on stock.
ability to use split screen for 2 apps is really nice.
Pretty much mid-range performance, as per expectation
My MiA1 since September 2017, Stock/OTA Android 8.1.0, November 2018, no further updates (Rejected all Android 9/P updates so far, latest November 2019).
Not Rooted.
Usage (Average) Statistics:
RAM: 4 GB, ~39% Free.
Int Storage: 64 GB, 55% Available.
Ext Storage: 32 GB, 13% Available.
Total number of Apps installed: 293 (true!)
Self-installed Apps: 275 (!!!)
System Apps: 18
Maintenance Apps: Greenify, AccuBattery, AntiVirus, Button Mapper, Android Assistance, ...
No crunchy Video Games, Flight Simulators etc.
Performance: Average without lags, Multitasking, split screen or with flipscreen.
Crashed twice in two years.
Currently Android is up for last 21 days no drags.
(I, usually, Shutdown in 10 days, as cleanup)
Phone goes in deep sleep (>80% of time) when inactive and screen off.
LiPo battery BN31 with ~2800mAh (90% of original) after 2+1/4 yrs
I charge 10-80% at 1.95A or 0.67C
30-40hrs use between charging.
Screen on Time 4-5hrs (~12% of use).
My Multitasking rating 3.5 / 5.
Pretty disappointing
Memory management is horrible in this phone..I have to restart the phone every 2 days.. otherwise the OS will keep killing background apps..even if u left any application to check a message or something, Android will instantly kill that app and you'll have to wait for it to reload again.. anything u were doing in that app is just gone ..I rooted my phone using magisk and uninstalled many bloatware like ant Hal services etc,..I use SD maid pro to clear caches, force closed every other app, tried to tweak the settings of the low memory killer, increased the size of the swap file even overclocked the phone to stay running at the max CPU ratio but nothing worked ..apps keeps getting closed the exact second u leave them despite having more than 2 gigs of free RAM
A1 just works fine for me
