Can't play .flac files on any non-miui based ROM. - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

I can't play most of my .flac files. You may check if you can play it. I've noticed that only Poweramp can do that because it uses its own audio decoder. Any ideas how to fix it? Isn't there any missing libraries? On MIUI everything works but i don't wanna use it.

Mediascape FLAC

Is there any way to play .flac music files via mediascape?
Maybe there's some workaround? By this I dont mean downloading .flac supporting app like Coreplayer.
Thanks.

Phone Wont Play .wma Sound Files - Why?

why cant i play wma sound files on my phone? i'm trying to play .wma audiobooks. i dont get it! how can i enable my phone to play wma files? can i install a codex for this?
It's a proprietary format owned by Microsoft so it probably can't be distributed with the Android source. You could try a 3rd party player.

but i played it successfully when i had virtuous unity installed. i now have absolution 3.7 and to me, i should be able to play it with no probs. why does one rom let me play it when another rom doesnt? this makes no sense. can i install a codex that'll allow me to play .wma?
Google dropped support of WMA format as of Android 3.0, that's why you can no longer play them. Just use a proprietary player as another poster suggested.

AVI player for cyn9 m4

Trying to watch avis. Sideloaded video players from previous roms but no good. Installed mobo player run and it says instal codec ARMV7... which I do and still doesn't work. Any other players? I'm in china on business so alot of stuff on store isn't available tho apktops works and most download sites.
Bump
I have had good luck with MX player so far on the stock rom, on Task14, and CM9. This one too needs a codec DL'ed and installed. And for a few videos I had to switch it from hardware decoding to software decoding, but it has so far played anything I threw at it.
That said, if I am not mistaken, .AVI is only a container, it can "hold" a variety of different encoding types. It is possible that you have run up against something out of the norm, but my guess is that with the right player and settings, it will play. You might try checking the settings in the app you are trying to use now, see if you can switch from HW to software decoding.
Good Luck,
Jason

Can't play .flac files.

I have RN4 Global on Snapdragon and i can't play .flac files. ROM doesn't matter because it happens on every single one. Only music player that is able to do so is Poweramp, but i dont like it :/ What causes that problem and how to fix it?

Problem with codecs in custom ROMs

Hi,
I've tried almost every Pie-based custom ROM available in this forum for Pocophone and every ROM seems to have issue with audio codecs.
Most specifically they can't reproduce out-of-the-box m4a files.
With stock beta Pie 8.11.15 the Google Play Music app is able to read all my m4a music library from the external SDCard. (actually, the stock MIUI music player can't play m4a files.)
With custom ROMs (e.g. Pixel Experience, AospExtended, LineageOS, etc) the Google Play Music and almost any other player can't read or play the m4a files.
I've tried on rooted and non-rooted ROMs. I've tried all audio mods with no luck.
Players that were able to read the files on a clean custom ROM (with no audio mods installed) are the Sony Music app and the MX Player. But only with the phone speaker. No sound when routing to bluetooth headphones.
My files are DRM-free.
Any ideas? Anyone has the same issue or knows how to solve?
Thanks!
