Battery Meter: Extreme drain when in use

I bought the samsung s2 primarily because of the amazing reviews it got for battery life.
I got mine 2 days ago and right from the start there were problems. I charged the unit three hours and according to the battery meter it had still not charged. then I tried to turn on the phone nevertheless, and it said it had 100% battery life. I then used it for 2 mins and it dropped down to 0% again and powered down. Then on charge back up to 100% in a couple of moments and back down to 0 % mins later. I took the battery out then put it back in - and then it was working fine again.
Now on day two, I've noticed an immense drain when its in use. Check out the screenshots. I think I'd be lucky to get two hours solid use out of it.
Should I return it, or does this look standard?
The battery needs some time before it reaches it full potential. In the mean time do some searching cause there already are enough battery life threads.
I already searched and read many of the other battery threads but didnt come across anyone who'd experienced the problem I described.

Correct 0-100% about four hours longer on a brand new phone ,
then I tried to turn on the phone nevertheless, and it said it had 100% battery life. I then used it for 2 mins and it dropped down to 0% again and powered down. Then on charge back up to 100% in a couple of moments and back down to 0 % mins later. I took the battery out then put it back in - and then it was working fine again.
bad battery connections clean .
Now on day two - I charged it at 9pm last night and by 9.30 am unplugged it was down to 84%. This with no apps open, no widgets running - nothing. wifi was active though.
Overnight is variable and Wifi uses battery .
then in using it for just 40 mins - doing nothing more than internet surfing through wifi; it drops from 84 - 68%.
Does this pace of battery power loss sound consistant with other users experiences, or should I return the unit and ask for a new one?
I think you have two choices one charge the battery read all the battery posts .
Or return to seller .
Personally i would turn WiFi GPS etc off at night charge phone to 100% see what it drops to by morning .Big drop and it would be returned as your original 100% to 0 drop very quickly suggests a possible fault .

Thanks for your feedback.
I've read through quite a few posts there.
One thing; do we know how long galaxy s2 should be able to be on for if the screen was on the whole time? Is four hours low, or does that sound right??
50% or less on brightness playing SD video should last more then 7 hours , browsing web however can be 5ish+ .
Screen at 100% and browsing web drains battery fast , 4 sounds about right.
It all depends what and how you doing it ?
Well I have it on auto brightness, usually which seems to be around 50%....
and I'm web browsing or just playing around with settings and looking at menus. I'm down to 45% battery and have probably had the screen lit up for maybe 90 mins max??
rest of the time phone has been on idle with wifi on but no network activity...
does this sound below what it shoudl be??
OK I've now attached my screenshot.
Does this battery usage seem normal??
i.e, such extreme drops when the phone is in active use???
All I've been doing is texting, some wifi surfing, and looking at menus.
Search the forum for "Android OS bug". There's no solution yet though. Turning wifi off when you're not using it helps.

Hi there.
I have installed Lite’ning Rom v1.5. Everything is working ok, but yesterday before sleeping I had battery 80 %, today after 6 h it drops to 1 %. I have data transfer turned off, also Gps, WiFi, ... Also before 2 weeks it drops from 100 % to 70 % after some hours with no using.
I have to add, that my battery held up for 4 days once with no particular using.
Any ideas plz?
Thx for answer.

Battery life

The battery of my tablet has become terrible the last two days.
Previously I had no problems lasting all day.
The last two days have seen an 80% drop in a few hours.
Has anybody else had a similar issue?

Not as bad as that, but I have noticed the following.
I got my tablet on Tuesday and immediately activated Stamina mode etc.
Overnight I left it in aeroplane mode and it lost just 1% battery.
Yesterday during the day at the office, again it only lost 1-2% in 9 hours.
Yesterday evening I let Google Play sync and restore some of my apps etc. But, I also went into setting and disabled and un-installed stuff I did not plan to use.
Overnight it lost about 8% - again it was in aeroplane mode.
Today at the office it has lost around 7% over the past 8 hours.
Not sure what is going on.
I installed a battery saver app and it seems to be better.
I suspect a recent app update was responsible.
My tablet went on for 2 weeks 14 days on one charge with light use throughout that time very happy with it.

Last night mine only lost 1% overnight...
And so far sat on my desk it has only lost 1% in the past 4 hours...
Weird.
Gah73 - which battery app did you install? On my Z1 Compact I never found a battery app that helped - Stamina mode always seemed to give the best results.
Thanks!

I never use any battery app I put tablet in battery saving mode that's all.
Same here. Usually i'd be at about 78% after a day of normal usage, today i'm at 58%.
SGP621 / LTE here. I also suspect some updated app, as I updated yesterday.
From power usage stats it looks like Asphalt8 might be the bad app... 27%.
Anyone with the same problem and Asphalt8 installed?
Brgds, Martin.
Sent from my SGP621 using Tapatalk
I was using battery doctor - I have uninstalled now though.
I agree the built in STAMINA mode is pretty good especially with the Extended standby on.
Also, I do have asphalt 8 installed so it could possibly be that.
I think Battery doctor is a good app.
2nd charge much better!
Ok - just to update, I charged the tablet for the 2nd time since purchase on the Sunday before last i.e. 11 days ago.
This afternoon the battery charge finally dropped to 14% and so I have set it to charge again.
Over the past 11 days I used the tablet for around 10hrs in total - most of which was watching HD videos on a medium brightness setting using MX Player Pro and earphones. Spent maybe 1hr total downloading / updating apps and checking email etc.
I strongly believe I could have made it last through till Saturday before I hit 0% battery - based on the daily average battery usage of around 7-8% a day.
Overnight in Aeroplane mode it lost around 1% each night. Also, note that I had Auto-sync switched off for the majority of the 11 days - so if you have it switched on - you battery life would be affected.

Huge standby battery drain

Hi everyone,
I am really helpless and do not know what to do anymore. My S9+ (EXYNOS) is draining battery overnight, in 6 and a half hours it drains 10%, even if always on displey is set to be turned of between 23h - 06h.
I am on the latest BTU firmware, I have tryied every tip and solution which I found on xda in order to get it better but it is still the same. I turned of almost all features like sync, location and also set all apps to be power saving.
If I use the phone a lot, I will get 4-5 maybe even 6 hours of SOT, but if I do not use it a lot, I will have 2-3 hours of SOT in total of 16 hours usage.
Any help or tips? I do not have any battery draining apps installed.
When I go to check in the battery stats I do not see anything suspicius, it says AOD 2 %, Device Idle 2%, Android OS 1%, Android System 1%, Screen 1%, Device is passive 1%.
Now I am trying it with a all black theme but still no improvement
Now I am thinking on going back to factory settings, because it seems that my battery was better (at last a little) before I tweaked and turned of many of the features.
Should I try factory reset, and if it does not help what is your proposal?
Another thing is that somethimes my phone gets hot without any reason, idle-ing or normal usage, that drains then the battery a lot. In situations like gaming etc it does not heat.
Did you try the app BetterBatteryStats? It works also with unrooted phones, if you can apply some adb commands with your PC. This app will give much more details about your battery consumption, including wakelocks.
Alternative would be GSAM Battery Monitor...its free, but not as detailed regarding wakelocks as far as i know.

No I did not try it, because on earlier phones I used it but did not know how to read it properly. I will install it now and post tomorrow the results so you can help me know what is going on.
Now I installed it but never used ABD and do not know hot to give the permission with it. In facts I used it maybe 5 years ago, now I will install it and try again, it is not that hard.

I think you should factory reset it. I had the same issue and now that I factory reset it and left most of the features as is (but I disabled bixby) it's been pretty good. Losing around 1-3% at night and at least 5 hours of SOT when I use it sparingly with around 24 hours off the charger. If I use it heavily I get around 8-almost 9 hours SOT for around 12 hours off the charger with around 15% consistently.

Thanks for the feedback. You gave me hope!
First of all I will try to discharge it once to 0% and take all juice out of the battery, maybe the system bugged because I always charge it as soon as I get as low as 40%.
If that does not help, then I will factory reset for sure. If it helped you I have hope that it will help me also.
I factory resetted few times. It seemed like it helped initially. But it actually did not.

I have factory reseted yesterday, and my batter life now is much better. Got 6 Hours SOT with 24 hours of total battery usage. In betterbatterystats I do not see anything anymore that drains it.
I need to mention that I have reinstalled everything manually, I did not wanted to import any backups just to be sure.

Actually I got better battery life after factory resetting but after few days it again became like before.Repeated it ,same outcome. so said it didn't help . Manual apps installations, not taking help from Samsung swtich did nothing.

Then I think that some of the apps you are installing is draining the battery. I am just very careful at what I install, and I monitor the battery behavior after every new app.

Do not have such app installed.
All of you uninstall Facebook and get a descent battery life.... Stop blaming Samsung... Most of the drain is due to the apps you use and the permissions you've granted to them....
Facebook only through Samsug browser. Facebook and messenger is a badly crafted app. The author should be humbly. Disable his activity and close him in jail. Do not deserve anything else. It will never be better

Android 10 battery drain OTA Update and HARD RESET

Hi everyone!
A couple of weeks ago I received the security patch and Android 10 for my POCO. It is not yet rooted and running the stock MIUI.
After the update however, the battery life degraded nearly 50% from 5-6 hours of SOT now i have at most 3 to 4.
The Standby battery drain is worse though! Before i charged my phone once in two days (I am not a power user) now i need to charge it everyday! I have more than 20% battery drain at night alone!
The first thing I did after I got that problem was to check if all the apps are restricted, if the GPS is off and so on. I Downloaded the Greenify app just in case but nothing helped!
After that i did a full HARD RESET. After it the Situation got a bit better but still I have no more than 4 hours of SOT and still lose more than 15% at night. All the apps got restricted use and GPS is turned off! The only battery drain function I have active is the WiFi but I got it always on before too!
I couldn't find any solution that would work for me. I was so Inlove with my Poco F1 before and now after the Android 10 update i am starting to feel i need to go on...
Please if you have any suggestions let me know! Thank you a lot!

Question Battery Drain problem

I've been noticing that I've had severe battery drain issues over the last couple weeks (barely getting 13 hours of use and maybe 3-4 hours of screen time), and I think I've got the solution.
Looks like Tiktok has been draining my phone via push notifications (I get maybe 10-15 a day). Noticed this morning that I've had about 1.5 hours of screen time from Tiktok in the last 24 hours, but somehow had 10.5 hours (34%) of my battery drained.
I'm changing Tiktok's battery usage profile from Optimized to Restricted to help cut back on the drain from the push notifications, and I'll report back in a couple days with updates.
I noticed today I'd used 40% of my battery in the first 4 hours of being awake, but the phone has only drained an additional 8% in the last 2 hours since I changed that battery profile.
Any updates on this? Just changed the battery profile and notification settings for TikTok, hopefully I'll get more screen on time usage without changing to 60 Hz.

It helped some, but wasn't a true fix. Still on the hunt for improvements. I also have one of the phones that runs pretty hot, so I might be doing a factory reset and doing some more testing soon.
