Non-responsive black screen with LED and buttons on - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

Hi,
One of my S5 now shows a black screen. The LED and buttons shows up briefly when I press the power button. If I reboot the phone a few times, it will work once in a while. But once the screen dims off, it will not come back.
I've followed the steps on https://thedroidguy.com/2016/07/fix-samsung-galaxy-s5-black-screen-death-troubleshooting-guide-1062341 but it does not help
Is there any other thing I can try before I give up?
Thanks

I had that happen. It was a bad connection on the digitizer to mobo cable. Once I reset it it was back to normal.

Display doesn't light

With my MDA-I Wallaby today suddenly the display is no longer lit when I switch it on.
I did a soft reset. During the subsequent reboot the display light flashed for a short moment but went off again. No luck getting the display lit. When I lift the rubber cover of the SIM card slot lightly the display flashes also for a short moment.
Any ideas?
You are sure, that you didn´t turned it off by pressing the power button for a few seconds?

With your phone? That might explain it...
Seriously, though, I would suggest taking the phone apart (it's not that difficult, just look up the service manual for disassembly instructions), and checking the display ribbon cable and connector. Reconnecting it might help. If not, it's probably a service centre call...

[Q] Bootloop after disassembly

I was having some problems with my headphone jack and i opened my Galaxy Note to check it out. Took only those flat cables around it and used a Contact Cleaner. After that, it's stuck on bootloop.
I had a recovery mode installed and the touch wasn't working at all (TWRP)!
I tried to flash a stock rom, which removed the recovery mode, but kept the same problem.
What could i possibly try?
How far does it actually get before it loops back? Samsung logo? Boot animation? Home screen?
You might have a stuck power button.

I should try to disassembly again?
Thanks for the answer.
The stuck power button is a very common defect in the original Galaxy note. It either gets literally stuck, or misaligned and is constantly pressed. I fixed mine by flicking the backside of the phone with my finger by the button. Some have fixed it by tapping the button rapidly. Others needed to take it apart and clean the physical button itself.

Couldn't be possible that the touchscreen is causing some sort of short circuit and the cellphone shuts itself as a prevention? I'm thinking that cause when i first managed to enter the Recovery Mode TWRP (before flashing a new rom), the touch wasn't working at all.
I'll try your alternative as well and will report tomorrow.

Vol Down + Power not doing anything.

Hi!
I am rooted, and was running Android Revolution HD 13.
Tried to install KitKat 4.4 and the status was aborted. I saved a back up in recovery. I entered a boot loop once I restarted the phone. I thought, "No problem! I'll just get into my recovery!" But every time I hold the Vol Down + Power button, nothing happens. It simply shows, "HTC: Quietly Brilliant" and the developer disclaimer at the bottom. Any ideas?

When your at the HTC boot screen hold the power button and both volume buttons.... You'll see your button lights flash like 10-15 times and then it will force shut down your phone. Once it's completely off try booting into recovery again.

holding the power button for 10-15 seconds will shut the phone off
try holding it under a bright light ..the proximity sensor can keep the phone from shutting down if the room is not well lite

So are you thinking theirs some other miracle answer to your question ?
it's a fact that holding down the power button plus vol down till you see the blinking lights (around 10 seconds)
then let off the volume it will shut off, just keep trying.

I think it may be the vol down button to be honest. It is odd. I have never experienced an issue like this before.

Had a similar problem once. Let the battery run completely dry, then charged it back up and got into recovery from a power up.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S3 Dead

Hi All,
I was using my phone few days back and it got switched off on its own and never came back to life.
I showed it to a service center and they say the phone is dead. There is nothing they can do to repair it and the motherboard will have to be replaced.
Anyone has any suggestions?
I don't believe these guys tried to repair it.
Thanks,

You know, you may be right. Maybe they just looked at it and said this thing is screwed. Or, they took the time to try to do something. Either way. First things first. Can you tell us if the phone shows a charging image when it is plugged in? If so, step two. Does the phone go into download mode? That is, hold down the down on the volume while holding the middle button on the face of the phone, while pressing the power button to turn it on. Dont hold the power button after you see the booting screen.

The LED indicator is not active as well.
It just looks like sitting in a coffin right now.
It has been only 13 months since I bought it.
If a usb jig doesn't work then new motherboard required.

Probably, those guys weren't just fooling you then, you really need a new motherboard.
