My speaker isn't loud enough on v30 - LG V30 Questions & Answers

I am thinking about doing a volume booster app but will it mess with the DAC's?

The DAC won't be active when using the speakers. They only turn on when using wired earphones.

How about the plug sound quality? And does it need quad driver earphones to get all the sound? I heard the to get the most out of it you need a new audio file called MQA.

You can tell the difference even with a cheaper pair of earphones.

I'm wounding if a volume booster app would interfere with the Quad DAC through the headphones jack.

Anyone try a volume booster like goodev. I installed it and it tries to make sound higher then goes back to normal volume. Wonder if there is a limiter on it as my G5 worked with goodev with no issues.

S3 headset output low volume?

Like to check with all here, are S3 headset audio output volume consider to be on the low side?
The reason I ask this was, 2 days ago just got my car AUX line in cable replaced the L/R RCA adapter casing cracking and hollow sound immediately or after sometime of playback. The AUX cable are plugged into headset output of a Sony MW600 stereo bluetooth that connected to my S3, iPad2/new iPad.
During the diagnost by the car mechanic, he uses AUX cable directly plugged to an iPhone4, the volume come from it was much higher compare to plugged with S3 headset jack. Both iPhone4 & S3 was at max volume but can say it's around 6~10dB different or 250% volume gain with iPhone4. Never did I reliaze this different as most of the time I was using my stereo bluetooth to feed my car stereo AUX line.
Next thing I'd tried, out of convenience for MP3 playback through my car stereo I've decided to purchase a cheap China made Nano5 MP3/4 player (with camera), the one look like the long & slim old iPod Nano with small screen. Playing it through my TDK BA200 iem the SQ was mediocre and with much lesser bass than S3 or iPad3. But to my suprise, when connecting it to my car stereo, the max sound volume was even higher than eiher S3 and iPad3., not to mentioned the bass are also more punchy than the other 2.
With 2 different results,
1. S3 audio playback through TDK BA200 iem, SQ and bass are super, loud and fuller, but through my car AUX line are otherwisely low bass & volume.
2. MIC MP3 playbakc through TDK BA iem, SQ are mediocre, lower bass & volume, but through my car AUX line SQ are good, loud and good bass.
So now I am confused. Should I considered S3 headset output consider low volume? Or it was because of compatibility or impedance issues? Hope anyone good in audio experiences can explain/advice me on the S3 different audio output behaviour. Many thanks!
Btw, my car was Renault Laguna III 2.0A Turbo with original head unit and 8 Pioneer components speakers.

JJEgan,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, with normal iem Galaxy S3 headset output considered loud.
My problem was when S3 plugged into my car stereo AUX line in it was otherwisely low volume and light bass.
This is comparing S3 with made in China MP3 player, iPhone4 and the built in CD Player.
I'm still puzzling why was S3 behaved that way.
JJEgan,
Alright, by listening to your advice I've found this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722136
Thank you very much!
It really helps to solved all the hassles.
Now I no longer hunger for alternate cheap iPhone4 or iPod to use with my car stereo AUX line in.

its already loud enough, but there are ways to boost it further. either use siyah kernel (has loads of option for sound) or franco kernel and feel the difference.

Hi, there's a program on play called 'mixget' which can increased the headphone out gain it doesn't need a rooted phone I used it on the s1 and it seems to work on the s3 under the current jellybean. I love headphones.
having the same issue as i described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2105091
i found, without changing kernel or flashing a mod, yu can install AC!D Audio Engine from its official site, it has many audio pluging and conf like Dr.Dre Beats and it should power up/clear/bass boost your audio.
Problem
Now, I've got this very weird problem. When I plug the headphones and play a Midi using the default player (only when using the default player), the volume is low even on 15. BUT this doesn't happen when it plays any other filetype (mp3, etc...) . Also, Midis play louder (as they should) when I open them using another file explorer (ex. Es file explorer) with the default player. Does anybody know how to solve that issue? I can't find anything that can help on the net.
Awesome! Thank you!
Im getting my head round it now.
Would this be a good one to start on my i9300, as this is the main reason im looking into it.

Portable Audio Amplifier

Has anyone use the TF201 on an airplane with closed, but not noise-cancelling headphones?
I've found that it's not possible to get the volume up loud enough on my Audio Technica ATH-M50 headphones to be able to hear dialog in movies. The headphones are great, but even with a closed design they are just too quiet at the loudest volume to really hear well on an airplane.
Has anyone used a portable amp with the prime that you would recommend? I've done a quick search and it seems like a lot of amps need a digital input. I'd imagine that I'd just need a simpler analog amp that takes a 3.5mm input. I'm looking for something cheap to just help on an airplane. Any recommendations? The cheaper the better.
Check out of the fiio e line. They have some portable amps that use the 3.5mm connection. I have a fiio e6 and i like it

Have you used it on an airplane and does it seem to give you enough of a boost to overcome the background noise? I think I got confused when I saw the fiio amps because they photos show them hooked up with a custom connection to an iPhone for example, but now I see they just take a 3.5mm input.
And they aren't too expensive so I might just try it out.
I have the same model headphones.. a Prime.. a Fiio amp. The cheapest one... And they work great! Makes them much louder

using windows phone 7 on my hd2 you could increase these volumes from the rom. Is there nothing like this in android?
Don't know if you tried any of the apps on the play store. I use volume + app. Works great. Lets you go above the stock volume levels for both the internal speakers and headphones. There are other apps out there to boost volume as well.

Of course.. but you need to be running a rooted/custom ROM. You can usually mess with the audio configuration files in the /etc folder for whatever audio amplifier chip is in the device.
I use an app from the play store called "equalizer" to accomplish what you're looking to do, works perfect:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sImNvbS5zbWFydGFuZHJvaWRhcHBzLmVxdWFsaXplciJd
Just do a custom setting, and instead of doing a typical EQ curve, just boost every slider by the same amount and this will give you a volume boost.

PowerAmp provides a small boost, which makes the puny LG headset just loud enough. Sennheiser speakers generally seem to be louder, though most of them have 32ohms impedance, 16ohms should be louder, theoretically. I like oldskool headphones without silicone plugs, i don´t think the new ones will last one decade like my Sennheiser MX550. I just bough MX400 MS for less than 10 Euros, looking cheaper than the MX550s, they provide the same sound quality and volume.
The LGs headset plug is Apple compatible, without an adapter to switch mic & GND connectors, Samsung and Sony stuff won´t work. Nokia´s needs the adapter to play music w/o distortion, but control buttons will never work.

DAC Fix for LG V10 works for the V20, too.

I'm using the tmobile v20 and noticed this morning that my DAC wasn't impacting the sound quality of Google Play Music at ALL. I have been using a v10 for the past year and I could tell that the DAC wasn't working, or it was broken, because my non-DAC listening on the v20 paled in comparison to the v10 with DAC on.
I went ahead and installed the DAC Fix for V10 and it seems to have fixed my issue. In case any of you aren't noticing the DAC working on streaming apps, try this. So far I've had no issues.

Funny, listening to Google Play Music with my leftover Note 7 earbuds I hear a distinct difference when I toggle the HI-FI on and off. I tried installing the V10 fix app and can hear no difference enabling or disabling it. I did see that the settings for Hi-Fi say "The sound has been automatically adjusted to the connected audio device". Could the type of headphones/earbuds determine if it engages?
T-Mobile edition of the V20.
I also hear a big difference on my T-Mobile unit. I'm using a set of Skullcandy earphones, and toggling off/on is immediately noticeable.
I ended up testing some more...I turned off the DAC fix, yet the toggle still worked. So I uninstalled the DAC fix completely and the toggle STILL works. I guess my unit was stuck in the "off" position for some reason, but it's working fine now. Weird. Sounds so much better with the DAC on.
The DAC fix makes no difference on my V10. Once the dolby atmos is turned on and Viper, the sound quality is superior. My V20 is arriving today and I'm sure with my 1More earphones and that 32bit DAC my ears will cry for mercy.
I wasn't able to replicate your problem, but I must say... This audio quality is far superior than any other phone I've ever used, finally something deserving to be used with Denon Urban Raver's.
Soooo is the DAC fix only for streaming apps such as Google play?
This is my main source of music...
Im comparing the headphone DAC on the s7 and the v20 and they almost sound the same, Im activating and turning off the Hi FI on the v20. Im using an audio technika m50x. Should i donwload the app to fix the dac? im using a video from youtube to do the testing. going to use google music songs that i have download to see if there is a difference.

It is quite noticeable on every music app I've used. The best way I would say is just listen to some music you like. I wouldn't know how to fix it, mine works perfectly. Try a factory reset?
Edit: I just moved from the S7 edge, and the difference is quite clear. I even think it's much better without the hi-fi turned on, but with it on it's significantly better too.

I figured out a very easy way to tell. If your phone doesn't mute music for 1/2 a second when you turn it on, it isn't turning on. It should have a 1/2 second mute when enabling or disabling.
It does. So i imagine is better in the clarity or something. Because it doesnt sound louder than the s7.

You can get a little more volume, but not without the cost of increased distortion. However, you can enable stereo mod, and you will get more bass, because the top speaker has a deeper low end, and of course the total loudness will be increased.

Arise is bloated junk. The stuff the Arise team added never worked. UltraM8 proved this himself. The V4A will disable the quad dac.

Don't believe it, that's your choice. Many threads on XDA that backs this statement up. UltraM8 for instance backs this up. His mod is also not 100% working with the quad dac. He SAID this when I questioned him on this. It's also in his first post.
"he wants to use it to tweak the loudspeaker, so it's unrelated to the quad dac"
This IS related to the quad dac since you can enable it for headphones.

The quad DAC in the V30 only gets called into action when there's an output device (headphones/earbuds/IEM/line-out cable/etc) attached to the headphone jack. It's possible using a USB adapter to get the quad DAC output pushed through the USB-C connector as well (from my understanding of it), but the internal speaker(s) in the V30 don't ever get output from that quad DAC.
The internal speaker(s) are powered off the Qualcomm DAC in the 835 SoC so there is going to be a limitation on what you'll be able to do, probably the best anyone can hope for it dropping the mid-range and highs a bit and adding a bit more bass but we're not talking about frequencies lower than about 80 Hz 'cause those little drivers just can't do it.
The internal speaker(s) are what they area, and nothing is really going to improve upon that. I will say my V20 had substantially louder output overall (I don't muck with the audio levels like I used to with edits to the mixer_paths.xml file) and it had a lot more low end aka bass response as well. I have no idea why the V30 is worse in that respect, but for me I use headphones or my Monoprice 9927 IEMs for listening anyway about 98% of the time. Sure I do have my phone on sometimes at home and listen to things but I have a pretty awesome little Omaker Bluetooth speaker I can feed the audio to and get the bass if I want it.
