VoLTE not working on Mate 10 Pro & EE - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I acquired my Mate 10 Pro via the CarPhone Warehouse and VoLTE doesn't appear to be working with it on the EE network. I have no VoLTE icon in the top left corner neither do I have HD calls.
I did call EE about it but their response was 'you didn't get this phone from us so we don't support it'.
VoWiFi appears to work fine (I had to enable that manually) but no 4G calling for some reason - has anyone else had this problem?

When you make calls, check if the 4G icon still shows. If it does, you are getting it fine. (HD calling as it's known) It's just handled differently in the UK right now as far as I'm aware. It's basically voice calls over 4G.

What version of firmware are you using? I’m looking for a version that supports WiFi calling and VOLTE that I can test in the AT&T network in the US. Thx

When I make a call the 4G icon stays there, although I no longer appear to get HD calling as with my previous phone the calls would be crystal clear.

Maybe it is missing for us now. Bummer. Not sure whether it's worth downgrading to get it back tho.
Wasn't there something in the menu settings about it previously?

Its built into the rom as standard so should work. When you first put you sim in, did the phone pop up a message saying adjusting phone settings to EE, then reboot etc..

I had to call my operator in order to activate VolTE for info.
I'm with Bouygues Telecom in France.
It will be activate in two days. So i will give a feedback soon.

Downgrading? What version are you on? My hope is that when the upgrade eventually becomes available for my phone that HD Calling will be enabled.
I haven't found anything in the settings about HD Calling so far.

You have the call settings if you go to the number pad or what you call it. When you make a call. And there you have the settings to change example the HD call.
I'm sorry about my English. I hope you understand.

I found 'Virtual HD call' which I don't think is the same as what I'm after.
Incidentally I had to enable VoWiFi through that way, not that that's relevant.
Edit : Incidentally your English is perfectly understandable

VoLTE is working. I'm not dropping down to 3G when placing calls with 4G enabled. Such a strange one.

As far as I'm aware it's automatic, I haven't found any settings where you can enable/adjust/tweak it.

[Q] SK i9100 problems

I'm exhausted from all my attempts at figuring out these problems, so I'm hoping someone on XDA can help me figure out two issues I'm having with my GSII.
I have the South Korea version of the GSII and I'm using it in Hong Kong. I can receive SMS messages, but when I try to send an SMS reply it says failed. I checked the SMS message center number and it's correct for the carrier. Here's the odd thing, when I try to compose a new message or forward a message, I have the option to specify the senders number. If I manually type in my number and the receivers number, I can send the SMS without a problem. So I know it's not a frequency compatibility issue. I can't manually specify the numbers every single time as the SMS messages will take forever to compose. I switched the SIM card over from an older Android phone and that phone had no issues with sending SMS messages. In the about phone section of the settings, my number appears as unknown. I never had a problem with this in my old phone. I did try to edit my number on the SIM through a couple old phones, but it just wont save. If I switch SIM cards from different carriers, I'm always going to have this SMS sending issue. Are there any tricks or ways to fix this?
The other problem I have is with the dialer. Everytime I try to make a call, a roaming call option pops up that says, call Korea or call international number. I have to select call international number to dial out. Is there a way to stop this?
If I could fix these two issues my GSII would be perfect since everything else is awesome except the two basic functions, sms and calling, of a phone. This has driven me nuts for hours everyday trying to figure it out. Thanks!
Are you in South Korea? I remember reading somewhere that the Korean wireless companies have a totally different SMS/MMS protocol than the rest of the world. We've all been getting our phones from the UK because of this even though it launched in Korea first. Maybe someone online that's familiar with the Korean SGS2s differences can provide more detail.
I thought that might be the issue with the SMS/MMS system in South Korea, but if I specify the sender and receiver numbers the messages will go through without a problem and I can also receive without any problems.

I fixed the SMS problem using an iphone 3gs which takes the same size sim card as the GS II and saving my number to the sim card. This isn't really a good solution sinve Im not always going to have a 3gs handy when I travel and would like to use a local sim card. I still haven't figured out how to fix the Roaming Auto Dial window that pops up everytime I try to make a call. I can't figure out how to make the phone understand I'm not roaming.
This is what I mean:

I am having the same problem...
The settings are located under the dialer and I was able to set GV as my voicemail.
Inbound calls work fine.
Outbound....
This has been a bit frustrating. If I set "Use Google Voice To Make All Calls" under GV settings and then try and make a call it does not do anything. Not even an error (although I assume there is one occurring)
However if I change it to "ask Me every time" then I am able to make outbound calls with my GV number.
I tried other dialers and have had the same experience.
Will keep experimenting for now

Cool. Any luck with using GV for all calls? This is the first phone I have had trouble getting GV working properly.
Hi,
I've been experiencing the exact same issue and found this thread- am using Omega 5.0 but it sounds like it's a rom independent issue.
Have you made any progress? I am also only able to call if I select "ask each time".
I'm having the same issue. I just flashed to the latest LF2 firmware and it's still happening. With the number of Galaxy S3s sold, I'm surprised that more people aren't complaining about this.
Even when I have the app set to "Ask me every time.." the call is still placed with my carrier number. It's a pain in the butt because now people think that I've changed my number and are starting to text my carrier number.
I had no issues with my S2 (Gingerbread or ICS)
My only suggestion is to post a review in the Market explaining this problem. If you see another review that is also having a problem, mark it as helpful.
EDIT: I tried this and it appears to be working!

OK, did a little more testing - and stumbled across something looks like only 7 digit dialing is affected. 10 digit dialing does indeed use google voice. Frankly, I'm not sure if this was the case in stock GB or not - with out a way to roll back, I can't test.

Well I am still struggling with this one.
I do not think it is a GV + ICS issue because it worked fine on the HTC One X for the two whole weeks I had one.
I feel that it is more likely and issue between the GS3 ROM and GV but I have no idea how to make Samsung aware of it. Especially since GV is only in the US and the phone is international.
I have the Sprint version coming in this week hopefully and I will be able to find some things out.
For now if you have not tried it, I highly recommend checking out GrooVe IP. It works really well I was quite surprised.
Yes, I think it is actually a long standing issue with 7 digit numbers, however it isn't working for me with 10 digit numbers either! Except strangely, if I type a random garbage number it will work, but not work on my existing contact numbers- I've even tried to delete the contact and phone manually and no luck either... do you mind telling me which rom you're using?
I think you two are correct. ICS isn't the problem, it's the GS3 firmware. My Galaxy S2 was running ICS and GV with no problems. And to clarify, with the i9300, we seem to be having two issues:
1. Some people are unable to configure GV for voicemail and,
2. Many of us are unable to make outbound calls using GV
For the first issue, I have had luck by either a) skipping the voicemail portion of the setup and adding voicemail settings manually or b) Installing a backup of GV from my GS2 using Titanium Backup
For the outbound calling issue, I think I fixed it by using the Country code + 10 digit number. So, I guess "11" digit dialing might be a better description for us USA owners.
312-555-1212 FAILS but 1-312-555-1212 is working for me.
Give that a try?

It's actually an issue with the Google Voice app and the SGS3 Dialer. It used to be that when you configure the Voice mail, it brings up the Phone configuration page in the settings, where you could set it, but in SGS3, the GV app can't bring it up, so you will need to do it manually.
Go into the Dialer and click on the Menu Button, go into Call settings, and there you can configure your Voicemail setting.

I tried to add a 1 or a +1 prefix but still no go. To give more description to the bug, if I reboot the phone, and under "always use GV", the first time I dial, it will create a "call not sent" prompt, but the call will actually go through via GV and function correctly. The second time however, it just fails to respond without any prompt.
Edit: I'm on ZNLE9, XXALF2 built.

I have no problems with 10 digits if I use the "ask me everytime" option- I'm only trying to figure out how to get it working under "use GV everytime". So it's just a bit tedious atm but not gamebreaking I guess.

Yes. Same problem here.
I have also found that if I just dial a random number that I have not called before that it will actually work the FIRST time and fail every time after.
Just use youmail. It works great and not a pita to set uo

Me too...
I'm also running into the "Make all calls" issue. "Ask every time" works perfectly.
I recall a few MIUI roms where out-of-the-box, the dialer app did not allow any third party access and this same issue would happen until you dug around in the call settings to allow access to other apps. Again, the "Ask every time" option worked, but "Make all calls" didn't until that setting was changed.
So, I'm assuming it is indeed an issue with the stock SGS3 rom's dialer application, for the GT-I9300 at least. Hopefully a fix will come soon.
I'm curious to see if "Make all calls" works after flashing a CM9 nightly. Trouble is, I just got this thing and wanna play around for a while before I root it.
I can confirm the same issue, as well. "Ask me everytime" works, but "Use for all calls" doesn't. This is on stock and Omega 5.0 roms.
Has anyone tried CM9 nightly to see if this issue goes away or any other suggestions?

Synchronizing notifications between phone and TrueSmart

I installed NotiSync https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mattprecious.notisync on both my phone and TS, and then Notify Lite https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=apps.droidnotify and Notify Plus https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=apps.droidnotifyplus on the TS to unlock the screen and show a popup for the notifications received by NotiSync. It has been working great; I'm getting notified when someone is calling before my phone even starts ringing [emoji2] Also if I leave my phone behind and lose the BT connection, I get notified because NotiSync will get disconnected and Notify will alert me.

Thought the question was pretty specific... the topic is about receiving notifications of phone calls from your phone on your watch. And the question was "when the phone rings and you answer on your watch can you talk from the watch to the call thats on your phone when you answer it or do you need to go to where your phone is?"
Not that it matters to this particular question about notifications from the phone to the watch but yes i do have a sim card in the watch and its about phone calls not email or sms notifications.

Notisync is one-way communication. Notifications from phone show up on watch. There is no answering the call from the watch with that app. It's a good app, but if that's what you're looking for you want something else.
There is Tablet Talk which would let you do it but only works reliably with wireless because of the TS bluetooth. And to answer the question, no you cannot take the call through your TS with either. You either need to find the phone or be using a bluetooth headset which is paired to the phone.

I´m trying several apps to synchronize notifications between the phone and the Truesmart. Now, I´m using Notisync (as you) and Popup Notifications (paid version). But there is a thing I haven´t got yet, and it´s to show the message content in the popup window. I tryed Notify Me! too, but I didn´t get the message content neither (only the app and the sender).
Have you (or anyone) got the Truesmart to show the message content (Whatsapp, Telegram, email...) in the popup window?
NotiSync shows the content of my messages after I added it with a custom profile. But if you receive multiple messages from WhatsApp, then it wont show the content.

Having a sim card in your watch or not makes a big difference. There's people like us who are not interested in adding a sim Cardin their smart watch and there's others who want to use a sim card in their smart watch as well. Also there's different ways for the smart watch to connect or operate which is why I'm asking as in HOW did you make it happen. That was all.
Thanks! This seems great. I mostly need call notifications, but adding a few others will be great. They seem to be pretty great applications as well.
The only issue I have is that I can't enable Notify+ in accessibility because the buttons are off the screen. How did you get around that? I will try a Bluetooth keyboard tomorrow to see if I can just hit enter or arrow over once or twice and enter...

Please, nbarm2, could you share the config you use in Notisync and Notify to receive, for example, the WhatsApp notifications and the message content? I suppose the config for others aps would be similar.
Thanks.

Receiving messages late / out of order on AT&T US

Just got a new z5c - I'm in the US on AT&T. This didn't seem to be a problem until last night, but now I'm having messages take between 5 minutes and 2 hours to come into my phone. People are still getting my sent messages instantly. Never experienced this problem on my old phone (2013 Moto X using same sim card), so I'm guessing it's not the carrier but the phone itself.
Also, restarting my phone seems to cause all the backed up messages to come in at once. Really annoying problem, wondering if anyone can help.
I switched my sim card back to my old phone and a bunch of messages came flooding in. Asked friends to test texting me with sim card in each phone - texts came instantly on old phone and way delayed on z5c. Already disabled iMessage. I've tried using Textra, the messenger app that comes with the phone, and Google messaging and all have the same outcome.

Odd. I'm on AT&T as well and have not experienced this. Are you sure your apn is correct?

I'm using the auto-APN detected by Textra:
http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
proxy.mobile.att.net
port 80
Is this different from yours? Also, wouldn't the APN only affect MMS, not SMS?

I had a similar problem, then I noticed the "queue background data" setting in power management was turned on by default. Turning that off fixed it for me.

Did you ever get this figured out? My wife is having a similar problem with her phone (MMS won't send) and I can't figure it out. Her LTE works fine and SMS messages send and receive like normal. But she can't send or receive picture MMS messages.
I remember someone posting they had to modify the settings (don't remember if it's apn or something else) to allow ONLY ipv4 (not both or IPv6)..that resolved the issue.

I tried that too. Someone mentioned it in another thread so I gave it a go. No dice.
I solved my issue by doing a factory reset - apparently there's a problem with importing messages from an older phone.
It doesn't sound like the same problem you're experiencing though.
Hi! I just wanna ask you guys if your z5 compact is displaying LTE on the signal bars on ATT. I have a z5 compact and i only get 4g. My device is registered as lte capable device.
All international versions display 4g instead of lte. So the 4g should indeed be lte speeds.

Calls and texts on other devices not showing

Does anybody have the tab s7 + from sprint/T-Mobile and the feature of calls and texts on other devices that should be in advanced settings not there? If are all carried tablets have the feature not able to be enabled? If it is that way does anybody know how to change it so it could be enabled or is it the settings apk?
The U.S. carriers really hobble Samsung's tablets. What you're looking for is removed as are the native dialer and messaging apps. I bought mine in the EU so that those features were available along with it being bloatware free. The downside is 5G only works on AT&T because the 5G bands supported in the EU are different than in the U.S.
Same i tried finding it and couldn't find it in settings anywhere. Its on my phone but not the tab s7. Tmobile removed this feature? It was on my wifi tab s6 but not on the tab S7
I talked to a T-Rep\Tech they claim that it show be in the settings. I also keep looking and found that ATT\Verizon are the only ones that disable that feature in settings on samsung's website along with supported models it doesn't list the tab S7/+. If t-mobile disabled it by software/settings then would it be some way to edit somethings internally and settings in order to get it?
It's either there or it's not. If it's not it's because T-Mobile removed it. It's on my Tab S7+ 5G from the EU. I don't buy U.S. cellular tablets because of all the features they exclude and all the crapware they include.

Oh I see since it's all in software. Would I be able to flash the software version the EU S7+ 5G in order to get all the features that my T-Mobile version have been disabled on?

Ah damn. It's probably not only apk for it but the framework too? And now it's too late for me to send this one back and buy one from EU since I've already sent in my trade in device. Really sucks. I found the call and texts on other devices apk found that it installed the options showed up after a reboot but no dice after trying to send a text received "Unable to send message - Message blocking is active . Looked for the phone apk as well but seems to already be installed. My guess I when root become available the build.prop can be extracted from EU and there's probably something that needs to be enabled in order for it to work properly.
On my Tab S7+/T-Mobile I do not see the Call & Text on other devices settings. I do see the dialer app is installed, just not accessible. Since the Samsung site does not list any 7+ model (LTE or WiFi) as compatible with this feature, I would guess Samsung disabled this, not T-Mobile. Too bad their marketing material says it is compatible.

I'm guessing its a samsung US S7+ 5G issue. Samsung sites says that AT&T and Verizon doesn't support the feature. The samsung S7+ from the UK supports it tho. Hopefully it's a software issue that samsung can push out with enough complaints.
Wish it was available for non samsung devices too

+1 love the tablet, hate the phones. I'm a oneplus user for now
I didn't realize this feature had been removed but I bought an S7 anyway. After taking a look around, I noticed the phone dialer is installed if you go to settings>apps you'll see it there but there's no way to actually launch it. Further digging using SetEdit app shows "cmc_activation" in Global Settings but I can't change the "0" to a "1" due to the fact the app does not have write permissions.
What about the Us Cellular version since that already sim unlocked? Maybe some can try flashing the USC rom
i have the ATT version of the S7 and preloaded is ATT Numbersync (Dialer & ATT messages app) connected to my main ATT phone (Galaxy S21 Ultra). Originally activated on ATT on its own data plan. Phone dialer and ATT messages worked as a clone to my main number.
However, upon ATT supplying the network unlock code, I started to use the S7 with my T-Mobile SIM
and all continued to operate exactly as above , still sending and receiving calls (via Dialer & Messaging App)
but still cloning to my main ATT number, etc. Only now on 4G speeds and using T-Mobile network.
I am afraid to do a factory reset as I dont want to lose the phone calling feature or get stuck not having the ability to attach it back to my ATT line.
This is the only way I know of to keep the tablet to use as a full featured phone/data device by utilizing ATT software when using with a differet network that dosent configure their versions for simple phone use.
'Call On Other Devices,' is loaded on their WIFI versions only since it connects through your samsung account ?
I know it was loaded on the Tab S6 Lite - Wifi version.

I'm in the same boat, love the tablet hate the phones. Can't find any good reason to drop my one plus 7 pro as of yet but when I do I'm going to have to take into consideration the ecosystem. DAM!

i left all original ATT firmware. i think its the only way it will allow numbersync to stay active allowing me calling and text.
howevet i did d/l a seperate mess app to allow tmobile messages to come through
in conjunction.
whats strange is weeks after I did this, my tablet now shows a 5G speed / logo
with speed test hitting near 188mb
So, I think I have a workaround for this. It looks like the S6 version of Call and Text, meaning that everything goes through your Samsung account - not across the same network as promised in the S7/S7+ marketing. Not without its quirks, but I have it enabled. Steps:
(1) If you have used the Messages app, delete or back up your conversations. If you don't, when you have reached the end of these steps anything you send to those contacts will still come through your tablet phone number and not your phone's number.
(2) On your phone, remove any devices from Call and Text that you no longer use. This is especially important if you rename your devices because the duplicate names will show up but the entire thing will have some sort of cerebral hemorrhage and nothing will work right.
(3) Go to Settings -> Accounts and Backups. Back up your Messages and Call Logs - for some reason, this process will not bring these over to your tablet, so this step allows you to get this base data over to the tablet. From then on, everything will stay in sync.
(4) Download and install the Call and Text on Other Devices APK from APK mirror. I used the latest one from May 1.
(5) Restart the S7+.
(6) Make sure the tablet is logged into the same Samsung account as your phone.
(7) Go to Settings -> Advanced and enable Call and Text on Other Devices. When you do this, you will get a prompt asking you if you want to switch to the Samsung dial app - by all means say YES! This will reveal the dialer app in the app drawer.
(8) Now go into Call and Text on Other Devices to adjust settings. You will see that calling is not enabled, so you want to enable it. When you do, you will get the same prompt about switching to the Samsung dialer. Again, say YES!
(9) Adjust the other settings as desired.
(10) Restore your call and message logs on the tablet.
(11) Back on your phone, you should see your tablet as a registered device.
Some of those quirks I mentioned:
Outgoing calls work just fine. Sometimes incoming calls do not ring. The record of the call will be there, but you might not get notified the call is coming in. In my limited testing so far, this happened about 3 out of 10 times.
If you don't delete message conversations made with your tablet prior to setting this up all future messages will still come from your tablet's number even if you select new and add the same contact.
I've been using this for 2 days now, and so far, mostly great. Nice to have this feature back even if I had to brute force it.
I sideloaded the call & text app on my T-Mobile S7 plus. Messaging works but you can't make calls. I'm assuming there are other APKs to sideload to get the calling function to work.
