Samsung pay and American express - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Themes, Apps, and Mods

Hi. I recently started using Samsung pay and i did like the convenience of it. I usually use my amex card for the reward. One thing i saw in the faq was that i may not review all my amex rewards if the merchant uses third party to process sale. In general, which stores would i recieve my amex loyalty punts in. I would assume that i would recieve all points in major retailers such as walmart and best buy? If i use Samsung pay in local mom and pop stores, i probably would only recieve samsung rewards when using my amex card?
Do I still get the same benefits (for example, Membership Rewards®*points) associated with my Card when I use Samsung Pay? Can I take advantage of Amex Offers using Samsung Pay?
For purchases processed directly by the merchant, you receive all the same rewards, security and benefits and can take advantage of Amex Offers. However, please note that in some instances, purchases made with an eligible American Express Card with Samsung Pay may not receive all of the benefits, loyalty points, rewards or offers of the Card if the purchase is not processed directly by the merchant. For example, you may not receive all of the benefits, loyalty points, rewards or offers if the merchant uses a third party to facilitate in-store or in-app payments on its behalf.

Weird, but...Want to buy 100pcs. xda

This is going to sound weird but... I've been selling a few xdas (New, 'as new' and used) over here (Lagos, Nigeria) and now I've got what seems like a serious enquiry to buy 100 pieces of them from me.
I've been getting all the ones I sold from ebay and other private sellers. Can anyone tell me where I might be able to get as many as a hundred at once?
Thanks if you can...
Aide
If you hang on for a few weeks - I think a lot of people here will be upgrading and looking to part with their old XDA's for a fair price.
Want XDA II - Willing to Sell
Quote me a price for my T-Mobile PPC (I'll load any ROM on it you'd like) and I'll consider selling to start my XDA II fund...
I could make it for a few short months on a beater.

Don't send invoices, bank account information (for wire transfers) or any

Sorry aicon, but even you must know the many scams run out of Nigeria.

Joe, I wish more people had the knowledge you have. First it would keep a lot of them from getting burnt and also people like me would be able to do business out of Nigeria without first having to battle our way through the (expected) suspicion .
The scams are a serious issue so if any one does have what I am seeking (100 xdas) and wishes to sell please be aware that payment will be in the UK, in pounds (cheque, cash, postal/money order, credit card, bank transfer basically any reasonable way you want) and goods will not be collected/delivered until payment is cleared. Though the goods will need to be inspected first of course.
Thanks, all.

Yes, the Nigeria scams are a nice little plague on the internet. If anyone here wants more information, visit www.snopes.com and do a search - they have some excellent explanations on that site of many internet scams.

What is this bull$%^t now, 'Administrative Fee'

A new for AT&T to earn more money??
Administrative Fee (Consumer and Individual Responsibility User (IRU) lines only)
The Administrative Fee helps defray certain expenses AT&T incurs, including but not limited to: (a) charges AT&T or its agents pay to interconnect with other carriers to deliver calls from AT&T customers to their customers; and (b) charges associated with cell site rents and maintenance.

They don't make enough money.... they justify by letting us pay only $200 for a $700 phone. Tha'ts how they get away with it... we can all go to the European way and just buy the phones up front and save a little on the service. But they will still make tons of money of us. $37 stock price for today 11%+ rise year to date... They obviously need more and more :crying:
I called AT&T yesterday to ***** about it, I asked the CSR "What 'new' expenses does AT&T have now that they didn't have last month?". Sure enough he started reading to me the same thing as I posted above. I said "don't read this to me, I can read it myself. I want to know what NEW EXPENSES do you have..."
He said "we don't have that info". I said "well, HQ should give you the answers".
I got so pissed at him that he ended up giving me a credit of the 4 lines times this bull**** fee for the next year ($30). Sure, I was happy and appreciative of his attempt to make a customer happy. Nevertheless, can't wait for my contract to expire to get the hell out. That's why I don't take 'free/discounted' phones from AT&T. Only international versions, nothing with AT&T logo on it. I will not be tied in contracts with big corporations any more.
Sure, it's much more difficult now to go somewhere else when Straight Talk no longer have AT&T sim cards, but we'll see.

Quick & Easy BBB, FTC, FCC links

FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en

You can base your info on the following but you will have to edit it to fit in the web forms:
"AT&T has raised the price on every wireless line in service by $.61 a month by adding a new fee to every bill, which they explain as follows:
"MOBILITY ADMINISTRATIVE FEE" Effective May 1, 2013, the Administrative Fee will be $0.61 per line per month. The Administrative Fee helps defray certain expenses AT&T incurs, including but not limited to: (a) charges AT&T or its agents pay to interconnect with other carriers to deliver calls from AT&T customers to their customers; and (b) charges associated with cell site rents and maintenance."
This is a baloney way of saying "price increase", and is a blatant violation of basic contract law which does not allow the changing of terms after the beginning of a bilateral agreement. The vast majority of ATT customers have 2-year contract agreements which prevent their switching carriers without paying a huge penalty clause.
The ATT Wireless Agreement reads: "If we increase the price of any of the services to which you subscribe, beyond the limits set forth in your customer service summary... you may terminate this agreement without paying an early termination fee or returning or paying for any promotional items."
CTIA Consumer Code reads: "Carriers will not modify the material terms of their subscribers' contracts in a manner that is materially adverse to subscribers without providing a reasonable advance notice of a proposed modification and allowing subscribers a time period of not less than 14 days to cancel their contracts with no early termination fee."
ATT claims that the price for the service remains the same and are only adding a "fee".
What's from stopping AT&T from adding an additional $50/month fee and not letting customers out of their contract?
$.61 doesn't sound like much, but some people have multiple lines. In addition, multiplied by 115.78 million customers, AT&T makes an extra $847 million a year from this dishonest price hike.
As it is not any kind of tax or government mandated charge, the new fee should be included in the basic price displayed in advertising and informational material. The new fee should only be charged on new contracts beginning after the increase, and existing contract customers must be allowed to either reject the price hike or be allowed to terminate their service without penalty, as the contract has already been breached by the carrier."
Coincidentally I just cancelled one of my add-on packages with Comcast cable and they also tried to charge a $2.xx administrative fee. Although the CSR waived it as a 'one time courtesy,' seeing the same issue here highlights what appears to be a growing trend.

You da man. How long did it take, a few minutes, right? We need more people to act.
Thanks for the heads up, I didn't even notice it. I filed a complaint with the FTC and will look into switching when my contract ends next month
Does this fee count as a material change in the contract? I'm guessing not. Sneaky
edit: I now read harryspar's post completely. When Sprint did this, many people were able to cancel and not pay an ETF, but I'm guessing AT&T will fight this but some people might be able to get away with it.

Yup. few minutes and the bastards "responded" to the BBB one with the usual B.S., to which I responded with (basically) "Cut the B.S.". Nothing will change until everyone files a complaint.
I went through a similar experience with Sprint last year. They claimed it was not a "material change" as another poster eluded to and when I digged very deep in my contract - there was a clause which allowed them to add up to $2.00 per month in "fees" without being considered "material" changes...
I think it depends on the rep you get, some people I know used the fee to get out of their contracts and some it did not work for. I was able to get the fee waived (it was only 20 cents per month or so that they were adding this time) but I didn't feel like fighting to get any further.

Samsung Tmo Free VR promotion. Received Gear 360 instead.

Hello everyone,
I signed up for the Free VR promotion when I purchased my S8. About a week ago I was notified that my VR had shipped. When I got the package to my surprise Samsung had sent a Gear 360. I was not upset as I believed they had run out of VRs and exchanged it with a Gear 360. IMO it's more desirable than a VR anyways. Today I received the email below from Samsung. It is good to know that I can return the Gear 360 to them at no cost to myself LOL. I just wanted to post this to see if anyone has had a similar issue.
I got the Gear 360 delivered today as well! What if I don't return it I wonder.... I already sold it on eBay. I have not received an email from Samsung though
I received the camera too. I'm using it as a dash cam and it's fantastic. I'm glad they sent me the camera, I'll get way more use from the camera.
Yea the camera is a better gift and they are still sending VRs. The funny thing is my wife did the promo on the same day and only got a VR. Make sure to claim your Action Director so that you can edit video.

There isn't a whole lot that Samsung can do. They can politely ask for the camera to be returned. They could make the camera unregisteredable so that you cant use the editing software. They could send you a "bill" that you would not be obligated to pay...All though highly unlikely and probably close to being illegal they could ask T-mobile to bill your account as they have your IMEI. I wouldnt worry about the last one. I dont think Tmobile would allow that as they would lose costumers.
Dstu10, Samsung can actually do something. There is a law that says you can't be charged for unsolicited goods (You didn't order anything); but if you ordered something and received something else by accident you are obligated to call and return the item, or the company can legally charge you for the cost of the item.
We'll see, because like I said I sold the camera on eBay immediately and shipped it already. I've not received any email from Samsung..... Yet.
Hey how do you use it as a dashcam? What settings are u using?
Here's my thinking...
The terms and conditions say:
Code:
GIFT DETAILS: Upon verification of the Offer Claim Form and Qualifying Purchase receipt
(determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion), the Participant will be sent a Gear VR and
controller (est. $129.99 value) (“Gift”). Gift will be sent to the address provided on the Offer
Claim Form within approximately 6-8 weeks after verification. No more than 75,000 Gifts are
available in the Offer. Offer is valid and can be combined with other Samsung offers, rebates,
programs, or promotions unless otherwise stated. Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, or
undelivered Gifts for any reason. [B]No Gift substitution or exchange will be allowed, except by
Sponsor, who reserves the right to substitute a Gift of equal or greater value in case of
unavailability of a Gift or force majeure.[/B] Each Participant shall be solely responsible for
payment of any and all applicable federal, state, and local taxes for any Gift received. All other
costs and expenses not expressly set forth herein shall be solely the recipient’s responsibility.
Gifts are available for a limited time, while supplies last, on a first-come, first-served basis.
So as the Gear 360 is of greater value, we can argue we thought they simply decided to upgrade us... And just send the VR back to avoid double gift?

Using the 60fps video recording with a 128gb Samsung card Evo plus (red one). I bought a small caseco core 360 stand from Amazon and peeled the rubber plastic piece off the bottom of the camera. Works perfect. On hot days, I leave my windows up and the AC on so it don't overheat.

Like you said we did not order anything....Nor would it be worth Samsungs time to collect $230 from me. They would risk bad publicity and/or upsetting someone that just purchased a $750 phone.

Sure, but they sent the VR to not upset people who expected a VR. Samsung could have easily cut their losses by not sending out VRs. I highly doubt they are expecting people to send the camera back.

BoGo money is different from.this 200$ reward..for BoGo you get a prepaid card but for this they will add the points to your Samsung pay
Samsung pay rewards can be treated as debit. I just ran down to wally world earlier and grabbed a prepaid mastercard and loaded it up in store, paid with the samsung prepaid visa card via MST since theres no native samsung pay in my walmart. Had to make the value + activation costs less than the total balance on my samsung rewards card. I did it by $5, worked for me. I was hoping to load the giftcard back into samsung pay and milk some more rewards out of it, but that particular brand (vanilla) of gift cards is incompatible with samsung pay. Was hoping my mastercard gc would let me get that $10 gc from amazon and get a little more money out of the system.
