Can't change SM-N950F CSC - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi
I would truly and highly appreciate any help
I could not change my current carrier rom (PCL in Israel) to mine (PTR in Israel) or even to another country United Kingdom (BTU).
The thing is, every time after I update the rom there is is this "update" screen that I think belongs to the current (PCL) rom that changes everything back, so nothing gets changed.
1. Maybe it is not possible at all?
2. If it is, is there any guide?
Here are the steps I do:
1. Disabled OEM Unlock
2. Odin: Flashed the BL and AP and CP and CSC (not Home CSC).
3. Odin: Made sure Auto Reboot & F.Reset time are checked
4. Odin: for BTU only - checked re partition
5. After reboot the "update" screen went on, it wrote updating, and then deleting - I think that might be the problem.
Thanks

Please delete my post, I've just noticed I can't ask here, sorry.

Did you leave the old SIM in the phone by any chance? it automatically switches to the SIM card CSC (many csc are built in).

Sadly no, the SIM card belongs to my new network (PTR, Partner Israel).
But in Software info there is still PCL/PCL/PCL (does it mean it thinks that my new SIM is PCL instead of what it really is - PTR?)

PCL is single in OXM multi CSC (same as BTU) and that is why your SIM doesn't change the CSC, if you flash odin a Carrier Firmware and then the OXM again it will change after you insert your SIM.
NOTE: You have to use the CSC and not the HOME_CSC. This will erase everything.

Thank you very much @nimms and @holifo
Could you please let me know an example for "Carrier Firmware" to flash? May I assume that OXM again can be PTR?

You could use any N950F firmware except OXM and then go back to OXM.
Let the phone boot with your SIM in when it will ask you to erase for settings say yes and that's it.
Use the CSC_ and not the HOME_CSC_, This will erase your phone make sure you have a backup.
Hope that helps.:good:

Thanks @Holfio
I always used the CSC file.
I am sorry but I can't find which firmware is OXM and which is not, (Are PCL, PTR and BTU all OXM firmwares?) I would love it if you could point to a specific non OXM firmware.
Thanks so much!

When you flash VOD let it boot fully do not set up accounts and check what CSC is the Software Version in settings.
And then re-flash OXM.

hey, if the 4 files truly wipe everything, what is the point of flashing non-OXM firmware, and then start from zero with OXM firmware?
when we setup accounts with or without sim>?
after we set up accounts, and reflash OXM how do I reboot with or without sim?

When u flash a non-OXM it will reset the CSC from single CSC to multi CSC which this will allow you to change CSC in the multi OXM CSC based in the SIM card inserted. You have to let it boot in the non-OXM for the CSC to be activated.
in my last post I said do not setup account in the NON-OXM and yes sim need to be in.

I did this, managed to get a carrier Orange firmware FTM/FTM/BTU.
But when I flash the OXM file it defaults to BTU/BTU/BTU.
when I enter recovery it says
#Manual MODE v1.0.0#
-- Appling Multi-CSC...
Applied the CSC-code : BTU
Successfully applied multi-CSC.
and other stuff
I do not have UK sim card in , it is RO sim.
Can this be because I have single sim version?

When u flash the FTM did you use CSC or HOME_CSC?
Did you let the phone boot in FTM?

I used CSC, and it booted ok in FTM
I guess FTM is the default csc in this "mini oxm firmware" that contains FTM, AMO and some other
you do not need to quote me if the post is above :_)

You now need a SIM to change the CSC from BTU(single) to whatever is your SIM.
I would recommend you to flash:
Product code CNX
PDA N950FXXU2BQKG
CSC N950FOVF2BQKG
and get a SIM from Vodafone Romania so it can change from VD2 to CNX.
After this flash OXM and your OXM it should change to either XEF/XEF/BTU or XEU/XEU/BTU, then insert your SIM to change to ROM.
I hope this help

Finally, it worked, guess all I needed was another operator SIM. Thanks a lot for your help!

[Q} MultiCSC package with XEN

Is there a MultiCSC package with XEN in it? I want to change my CSC to XEN (Netherlands). I got it and i had KOR as CSC, which is strange as i bought it at a proper retailer in the Netherlands... Using MultiCSC is already changed the CSC to XEU so to be more compatible with EU etc. But i really want the CSC/Productcode to be XEN for the netherlands.
When using CSC Select or *#272*IMEI# you can only select an CSC if you have a multiCSC on your system. When i have a multiCSC installed i can choose a lot codes, but XEN is never in there. But when i have a XEN ROM and CSC installed i can't choose the XEN.
So the question is, is there a MultiCSC package that also contains XEN. This way i can use Select CSC to change my phone to XEN.
Try to flash this with odin, I made it for u, all it contains is the XEN CSC and not any other firmware files.
After flashing check your csc and try to change to XEN, if that still doesn't work then wipe data/cache and try again.
You can also PM me in dutch if you need me

Still won't work. I don't get any options to choose from with the XEN CSC installed. So still stuck in XEU.
Thank You jeantje !
Your file works! But you have to do a factory reset to recognize new CSC.
Afterwards i installed the last dutch i9100xwlpd.

That is good to hear!
Have fun!
I had ran into a coupe of csc issues lately I found this way to be the best option to switch to desired CSC.
1 - select XEO as CSC (this is just a temporary step cause most multi csc has this region/setting)
2 flash the latest(that match your rom) multi csc that has the region you want
3- select your desired CSC
this method helps you avoid the CSC unknown error due to having flashed a CSC on top of one that doesnt have the previously selected CSC

CSC Unknown and Messages app crashes

Hi guys.
I'm an Italian user. Yesterday I flashed my Samguns Galaxy S3 I9300 branded Vodafone Italy, with this ROM I9300XXALF6_I9300ITVALF1_ITV.zip
Here steps i've followed:
1) Reset factory defaults
2) Flash with odin
3) Reset factory defaults again
Now I've two problems:
1) *#1234* shows me CSC Unknown and so I can't connect my phone with Kies
2) Messages Apps crashes every time
I've tried also other official ROMs like OMN (Italian branded ROM) and results are the same.
Could You help me please?
You do know that you are asking a question in the wrong thread? All questions need to be asked in the Q & A section.
You need to flash the stock rom for your phone when you recieved it and type the following in your dialer. *#272* followed by your IMEI number and then #. This should bring a menu with all the common csc, select the apprioate one and install. Do note that your data on the phone will be wiped and you will return to factory settings.
If it helps, hit the thanks button

Flash your CSC from this thread.
moved to q&a
I've flashed my CSC and nothing changed.
If I enter *#272*IMEI# I can see ITV but if I enter *#1234# result is always "CSC Unknown".

Even though the tip in post2 works to show a list of CSC, I have flashed PHN CSC, but it is not listed. Just DBT, probably because that is what the phone got shipped with.
I bought a German phone, but I need a PHN CSC.
I solved my problem by flashing firmware with Odin Mobile

Change CSC to from BTU to VOD / flash stock Vodafone UK ROM

I've been struggling this morning with my unbranded UK S6 Edge to get it to install a Vodafone UK ROM with the VOD CSC.
This is so I can setup native WiFi calling on Vodafone, which was added to my account yesterday,
The problem is that the stock Vodafone UK ROMs are multi-CSC, and no matter what I do when I flash one of them, I end up with a CSC of SIM (Slovakia), when what I need to VOD.
It seems that the *#272*<IMEI># code doesn't work any more, and I really don't want to root this device if at all possible, unless there's a safe way to do so without tripping KNOX.
Is there a way to do this, or otherwise repackage the stock VF ROM so that it only includes the CSC I'm interested it?
Cheers,
Dave

Hi Dave,
I've also got a BTU S6 EDGE which is on EE network. I wanted to use WIFI Calling feature which is only possible if the phone is running original EE firmware. The easiest way to do this is to download the latest VODAFONE UK firmware from Sammobile and flash it using using ODIN. No need to root and lose warranty. Just make sure you wipe Cache from Recovery menu after flashing new firmware to change your CSC to VOD.
Hope this helps.

Hi Dave,
That's where WIPE CACHE from recovery will help. You might have to try that couple of times to pick up just VOD CSC. That was my case as well. I had EVR, BTU, XEU as CSC but after WIPE CACHE, it changed to just EVR.
Thanks

The other way is, if you can find VODAFONE S6 EDGE Serial Number (NOT IMEI number) from somewhere then you can use emergency firmware recovery option from Samsung SmartSwitch and flash Vodafone firmware that way. It will reset your phone to factory setting but with Vodafone firmware on it.

I've got the reverse issue. My phone is multi CSC and I want to use the ATT firmware in hopes of gaining Samsung Pay. I have the 925F variant and the ATT variant is 925A.
I read somewhere that it is possible but this was tried with an unlocked S5 which was flashed with carrier firmware and gained the desired CSC but then it was locked to that carrier.

You need to do a factory reset for the new CSC package to be applied - I'd suggest you disable auto reboot in Odin, flash the VOD firmware via Odin, and then boot straight into recovery from download mode, without booting the phone. Do a factory reset from there, and you should see the new CSC being applied.

Looked up the hard reset code MRI codes, but it doesn't do anything on my device.
I spent another few hours flashing and refreshing VOD ROMs, and wiping phone and cache. The CSC always remained at SIM.

Is this still an issue for you or were you able to resolve it? I've got exactly the same problem - stuck on Slovakian country code. In the end I just re-flashed BTU and lived without wi-fi calling but i'd like to know if there is a workaround.

same here with an edge plus, but i did solve it ...the csc was stuck on SIM WHICH SLOVANIA....had to root phone, install supersu, install csc changer..all from play store...use csc changer and change it to VOD the phone will reboot....it might get stuck on boot saying dm verification failed, just reboot it..then...DO NOT wipe cache, and DO NOT do a date reset....just let it reboot, and plug it in computer..use smart switch recovery software, and that will do it...but the wifi calling option is still not there, hope this helps....
Works
I had the same problem on a Edge+ and have solved it in a similar way:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67079588&postcount=4
Any no-root solution?
It's something to do with the 2 different csc files in downloaded firmware one is just csc and one is home csc, download the right Vodafone firmware and when you put your csc file in on odin use the csc not home csc and that will flash the correct country code and automatically factory reset your phone whereas the home csc doesn't factory reset but unfortunately its irreversible unless you root your phone and then youll trigger Knox counter and lose warranty. But thats the only way you'll get VOD csc.

S6 edge (g925F) totally bricked

Hi, Im writting this threat to solve a problem with my s6 edge. Two weeks ago I bought a phone from Aliexpress, and when it came everithing was okey, it came with 5.1.1, so i decided to upgrade to 6.0.1. How the phone was new and i had no idea about which rom install I installed the 5 files rom XEU without making a backup of the EFS folder. After install it, the phone worked, but it wasn´t able to make calls or recieve SMS, the phone said "no registered on network". I tried to solve this problem installing a modem, but this aggravate the problem, appearing a prohibited sign in the status bar and with the IMEI and Baseband unknown. I tried to install another roms, but odin always failed, the only rom that odin let me install is the AP file of the 5 files XEU rom. I sent the phone to the Samsung technical service, and the said me that they can´t repair the phone because the phone is from Israel, and they only repair EU phone. The phone works, everything is okey but it can´t use the network services. How the technical service said me the phone is from Israel, and it came (if im not wrong) with this rom: "G925FXXU3COJ1_G925FOJK3COJ3_ILO" (5.1.1 rom from Israel), but now the only rom that works is "AP_G925FXXS3DPB1_CL7025264_QB8758701_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5" (the AP file from the 5 files 6.0.1 XEU rom). I don´t know how to solve the problem, the phone is totally new, and when I try to install any rom Odin gets fail. Can anybody help me? Is the first time I buy a good phone and on the third day it gets broken. Any solution? Please help me, thanks. (Sorry for my bad English, I´m from Spain)

Yes I have tried with Samsung Smart Switch, but Nothing, it don't let me restore the phone
Try flashing a firmware with the number 4
For example I flashed with G925FXXU4DPGW
If you try to flash with a firmware with 3 in the place of 4 it might not work. So try it.

Just flash the stock firmware for your region.
Or try to flash stock XEU or BTU. Most international firmwares and multi csc firmwares come with efs or modem files.
If you are trying to flash a branded firmware this could be why as this happened when I tried to flash EVR rom.
I can link you to the stock XEU download that I'm using.
If you get an fail in odin let me know where it fails... example hidden.img fail or system.img fail.

Hi Callumbr1, I´ve tried to install the 5.1.1 rom of my country (spain), but Odin gets fail, at first it fails at "cm.bin" archive, so I deleted it from the tar archive, then I flash the rom again and another Odin problem, it failed at "hidden.img", so I also deleted it from the tar archive, afterwards I flash again and another odin problem at "sboot.bin" (this sboot archive always fail when I try to flash a rom), so I also deleted it. After having removed the 3 archives from the original tar archive (the rom was G925FXXU3COI9_G925FPHE3COI6_PHE), the rom started to flash normally but after it the phone gets stuck on Samsung galaxy S6 edge logo.
I also have tried to install the 5.1.1 XEU (G925FXXU3COI9_G925FOXA3COI9_XEU), but also same problem at "hidden.img" and at "sboot.bin", after deleting them, another bootloop. What can I do? Maybe I have to start trying to flash 6.0.1 roms, I will also try to flash roms with number 4 how Subhy259 said. What do you think Callumbr1, what can I do?

What firmware was you on before? Was it 6.0.1? Is so you have to flash a 6.0.1 rom. You can't flash from 6.0.1 to 5.1.1.
Hidden.img fail means you need pit file for partitions.
Was the device unlocked when you got it? It could have locked bootloader which means you will have to flash the firmware it came with.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/85917/G925FXXU4DPGW_G925FOXA4DPGW_XEU/
Flash this firmware see if this works. It's multi csc European so should work.
If you get any errors copy the odin log to here so I can see. The good news is its not bricked. We just need to find the firmware that will flash

Callumbr1 I´ve alrready installed the rom you said (without any problem) and now the phone detects the sim and has the correct IMEI and S/N, but when I try to call or use the network the phone says "Not registered on network", why is this happening? How can I solve this? It´s a modem problem?

Go on to settings then reset. Reset network settings. then go onto mobile networks, set to LTE/3g/2g. Set work network to auto. Reboot phone and should work
Or set the network to the same as your sim

I've tried that but still on "Not registered on network" (it should be a phone problem because the sim works in other phones), I think it's a modem problem, maybe flashing the modem of another rom could work. What do you think?

I would say to flash a firmware that is branded by the network you have.

Try flashing a firmware with the number 4
For example I flashed with G925FXXU4DPGW
If you try to flash with a firmware with 3 in the place of 4 it might not work. So try it.

Look at this thread. You need the top pit file zerolte_eur_open.pit
In odin you need to insert the firmware into AP again and click on pit where the options are. Insert the downloaded pit file and make sure re partition and f.reset is checked and then flash.

Stock Firmware Help
I've downloaded an android 9 firmware before it came to my phone model (SM-G965F/DS) and flashed it. When I check under Software Update in settings it says "Your current software version isn't supported visit a service center".
Is there a way to go back to the factory firmware it came with through smart switch or.... how do i find the correct firmware to flash with odin? Because i dont have any version details from before...
Please help!

I believe as long as you do a full clean flash, the software update will function normally. By full clean flash I mean flashing the CSC and not HOME_CSC, and flashing userdata if that was included in your firmware, although I'm not sure if that part affects this or not. But the CSC, which will wipe your data by the way, should set everything straight I believe. It has worked for me.

Oh, you said you flashed the firmware package, so did it have four or five different files inside the package, like AP, BL, CSC etc? You put each file in the respective slot in Odin, and instead of using HOME_CSC, use CSC, which will wipe your data but it will line up the customer code with the firmware so that updates should work as normal.
