Hi All,
I realize that this might be a T-Mobile network issue but it's really annoying. MMS messages (group, picture, etc.) work fine, but SMS on this phone have recently been getting stuck on sending. It often stays like that for a few minutes, during which time the recipients will get the same message 2 or 3 times. After a while it finally says "sent".
This happens intermittently. Other times it's sent and delivered right away. Does anyone know what I can do? Will resetting APN settings help at all?

Only T-mobile people complain about it?
At least that's what I see in this forum, which is for all LG V30/V30+.

If no other phones do it on TMobile, it's obviously an issue with the v30/+.

No, I'll repeat. It only happens with T-mobile LG V30/V30+. T-mobile being the key word there. I own THREE of these phones and it doesn't happen to me or my wife. But we don't have T-mobile.
Maybe T-mobile screwed up something trying to get their version ready for the new LTE band. I don't know. You would have to ask them.

My family has 4 lg v30+ phones, and we all suffer from duplicate texts. We are on Sprint, not tmo.

I did address it, now several times. I'm sorry you have a reading comprehension problem. And apparently don't know the meaning of "addressing an issue". It means acknowledging it, not solving it. You may work to solve it, but you are admitting the problem in the first place.
https://english.stackexchange.com/questions/181460/what-does-address-an-issue-mean
To address an issue is to direct attention to it. It doesn't mean the issue will be solved, only acknowledged.
In a similar way in golf, when teeing off you address the ball before swinging. That doesn't mean you're actually going to hit it, and if you do it doesn't mean you'll do it very well. One can address an issue or problem, or in other words acknowledge, or focus on it for a long time. That doesn't in and of itself solve the problem. So I think your colleague is correct in saying that addressing an issue is 'to bring under discussion'.

I acknowledged not all T-mobile phones are affected and furthermore said I didn't know why -- before you even asked. That statement addressed the issue, and then you asking why not all T-mobile phones were affected immediately afterward (5 minutes later) shows you apparently didn't read/comprehend those words whatsoever.

Have you disabled anything? Using ADB or a package disabler?
Did any of you disable alleged bloatware? Seems to me, almost every time there's an issue, that is often the culprit. So many things are interconnected on these phones. You can disable something to think you don't need, but it still affects other functions.
In which case, it may not be T-Mobile's fault since at least two of you are on Sprint.

Thank you. For those of you playing at home, I did say it might not be categorized T-Mobile problem after new evidence arose of other phones like Sprint. He couldn't comprehend that either apparently?

I am on the Verizon Network with an US998. I have absolutely ZERO issue with either SMS or MMS. And that is texting with people using either Droids or IPhones on multiple carriers. I'm using Textra as an App.
Text/photos not being sent LG V30
This doesn't happen often. But when it does it affects all of my regular text messages and it starts when i download a photo then it gets stuck sending spins and spins i turn phone off then on and now its not sent. Try it again same thing and it affects just word TEXT. Been going on today for 3 hours and I have Sprint .

Since Samsung is treating it as a standalone device or like a phone can it be Unlocked as phones can? Can I walk into any carrier that has the Gear S in Stock pay it outright in full and unlock it if necessary I don't want a 2 Year contract on a Smart watch that carriers consider an accessory
I would like to know that, too. If it can completely replace a phone.
As I posted in my reviews in the Gear S General section, you can use it primarily as a phone that makes and receives calls and SMS. Consider it a feature-phone Nokia from the mid-noughties. And it needs charging daily, maybe twice for heavy use.

Over on androidcentral, someone reported successfully using it as a stand alone phone.
I received mine today and requested an unlock code from T-mo, which they say can take up to 14 days to arrive. I'll write back if/when I get it.
I also talked to ATT, and they told me they would not know how to unlock it, but I may just have chatted with an unknowledgeable person.

Thanks this was before I got my gear. But yes it can be unlocked many have gotten it. Just a heads up I'm sure you know unlocking for T-mobile will only let you use AT&T or their bootleg companies (MVNO). AT&T takes between 48 hours and 7 days some have said
^ Yes. It's a bit disappointing that they don't come with more bands.
Also, I kind of figured that the ATT info I was given was incorrect. That chat took forever and the person I talked to had no clue about the Gear S.
Do you know how to unlock it once you have the code, other than inserting a different SIM and hoping you'll get prompts for the unlock code?

Cell Unlocker.net can unlock it for $29 When I got mine I asked and they asked for my IMEI so I gave them that and a day later they said yes and added it to the list
I read a post about this and took the advise and messaged T Force via Twitter. They told me in a matter of mins that my handset was already unlocked even though the unlock app states otherwise.
Unkown to them , I have a few foreign SIM cards, inserted one and I got the SP lock message.
Anyone know how to unlock a TMO Note 8 that was purchased from Samsung direct, need a solid answer and not hearsay.

Contact T-Mobile Help on Twitter. Have your receipt and IMEI ready.
The problem is when Samsung sells phones on their own the IMEI is not given to the carrier and it's not in the system. Since T-Mobile doesn't know the phone this is what happens.
They should be able to contact Samsung and verify it with your receipt and then they'll input the IMEI in the system and get the ball rolling.

I received my TMO N8 direct from Samsung and paid in full. I moved my sim card from my S7E into the N8 and everything worked fine. On my TMO account it shows the N8 as the phone on my line, but when I hit the link to check the unlock status, I get a response This device is not in our system.. Twice I called TMO to make sure they had the IMEI number for the phone. Same result when I check unlock status. I called TMO a third time for unlock status. This time I was told that since I purchased the phone from Samsung I would have to get the unlock code from Samsung. I then called Samsung and was told that the TMO rep was not correct and I would have to contact TMO again. I called back TMO and explained this tale of woe. This time the rep said I should have the unlock code within 72 hours. That was two days ago and I am still waiting. and getting the same message, This device is not in our system.
This has been the worst experience I have had with TMO in the many years I have had my plan with them.
T-Mobile IS correct. They don't have the IMEI in their system because Samsung NEVER gave it to them. This has been a problem for a long while now. Apple does the same crap too. If they sold devices and passed on the IMEI then this would fix the problem. Carriers want to verify it's theirs and it isn't stolen or belongs to some other carrier. Only Samsung can validate that and Samsung CS doesn't know the difference between a SIM unlock and a bootloader unlock.
Just do what I said earlier. Talk to T-Mobile Help on Twitter and send the receipt and IMEI and they should be able to contact the right department for Samsung to validate your purchase and then they'll put the IMEI into the system and then viola you can unlock.

Most people it seems went for a carrier phone to get it sooner, the unlocked ones are on back order. The funny thing is the tmob phones have an unlock app pre installed, you wait 40 to 70 hours on the network and then just click two buttons and it's unlocked.

I totally agree, the phone should be unlocked before send out or unlock code should be send with the phone and they do that in Canada. What they doing now should be illegal but apparently we don't have good consumer protection.
I love t-mobile and their support is great, but unlocking T-mo branded phone bought direct from Samsung is freaking nightmare and it amazes me how their support and tech people have no clue about their SIM locks, yes I was also told my phone comes unlocked from factory and it just happens that I have 2 phones like that and I travel abroad, so need this garbage resolved. It is my last carrier branded Qualcom phone, that's for sure.

Has anyone gotten their hands on the US998 carrier unlocked device yet? Mine is scheduled to arrive this morning.
Hopefully LG will add this device to the unlocked bootloader list . I expect that it will take a few weeks :fingers-crossed:
In the mean time, I am hoping to find a way to enable my hotspot on the US998 without having the phone ask the carrier (I am grandfathered unlimited VZW). Has anyone found a way to achieve this?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: The native Hotspot function worked right out of the box and never asked Verizon for authorization.
EDIT: I had to RMA this device today due to a large "vertical line" down the middle of the screen. Too bad, I liked the phone.
Yes, some received on Saturday.
I received mine on Saturday, so far so good. This is my first carrier unlocked phone so it feels so clean without any bloatware, since I'm on AT&T and the visual voicemail app is not on this phone and can't be downloaded from play store, so I have to download it from other sites and it works fine. The wifi hotspot works out of the box using the tethering function on this phone. You'll love it.

A quick question: do you mean the visual voicemail app for AT&T or the Google Phone app apk that's floating around? I have three coworkers (one on AT&T and two on T-Mobile) that bought V30s from their carriers and since I'm a Nexus guy, it was disappointing to see visual voicemail separated out from the Phone app. In T-Mobile's case it even seems to be a paid app with a trial period, which is uncool to say the least. I will miss having visual voicemail baked right into the app, so I was hoping LG would add that to their phone app for the unlocked version but apparently not.

It's the AT&T visual voicemail app, I downloaded it from https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/att-services-inc/att-visual-voicemail/ it works the same as the one on my other AT&T branded phones.

There may be a misconception here perhaps?
TMO's "Visual Voicemail" app and it's default feature allowing user to listen to their VMs is "FREE".
The "Voicemail to Text" feature within the free Visual Voicemail app is the "PAID" item subsequent to initial trial period of xx days.

Why is it called VISUAL voicemail then? The "visual" part is the reading, I would think.
OK, I know it's to see the list of voicemails and choose to listen to what you want.
But I'm so glad I have Google Voice, where I get all voicemails transcribed to text and email for free -- as are all other features.

Ah, good to know. I was misinformed by my coworker, or he was confused. I'm on T-Mobile too but haven't had a T-Mobile branded phone (and don't plan to) since I switched from Verizon.

I had forgotten about that feature of Google Voice (I almost exclusively use it for overseas calling), might be good to give it a try again as my voicemail handler once I get my hands on a V30+. So maybe March, haha.
OK, got mine tonight. Picked it up from the UPS store. B&H Photo charged me the $819.99 (the reduced rate). I couldn't remember if the price had changed yet when I ordered. Still need to call them and see if they'll price match Best Buy $799 (even though that's actually a higher price when you factor in tax).
Yes, still has the plastic screen protector on it.
I probably won't really get to mess with it until this weekend. Not set up yet, of course.
And then I need to buy a second one (LG V30+) by January 10.

I was wondering if it came with any additional adaptors? My T-Mobile one didn't. You'd think LG would include them since Samsung does.
Not that I need any, but the otg ones are good to have.

Mine has android message and the stock LG message apk won't install.
Could one of you guys with an unlocked handset check what the FCCID is, under Settings > General > Regulatory & Safety?
I'm expecting V30A, ZNF-V30A or something along those lines, but something else would be interesting.

It means that its various electrical parameters are supposed to be identical (within a certain error margin, I'm sure) to the information filed for the other V30A; the US Cellular version. So it'll have the same official LTE bands and whatnot.
Essentially it's the same phone, the only likely difference is going to be that it's eligible for bootloader unlocking whereas US Cellular's isn't because .

1) very sure. The FCC ID is an important identifier even for handicap access devices. If one device has an identical FCC ID to another that means it's identical for all intents and purposes, with legal ramifications -- especially in the U.S. -- if it's not.
It's how we knew we could flash Verizon Droid Turbo XT1254 firmware over the U.S. Moto Maxx XT1250 and how we knew Verizon was lying through their teeth that the Droid Turbo was "exclusive"; it wasn't even exclusive in the U.S.
(They both had the same FCC ID and thus were EXACTLY the same device-- but the XT1250 had easily unlocked bootloader via code from Motorola. You could flash Verizon firmware over it and turn it into dev version of Droid Turbo.)
2) he said "official" bands, not bands we can enable ourselves.
So I spent over two hours trying to get the ATT visual vm app working on my v30+. (Unlocked b&h). Every tech support guy thought fore sure they could get it going, to no avail. Can anyone recommend an app or solution that works? I figure it can't be that hard. (But what do I know?)
Thanks in advance!
You installed the app and it doesn't work, or you can't even install the app?
People have downloaded from apkmirror and gotten it to work.

Interesting, since the only real difference between the two is more internal storage.
When I went to AT&T, I had them register my phone as THEIR V30, since that phone is in their database. But that is something to suggest to them.
Although I use AT&T, I don't use their voicemail so I don't if this app works with my V30+.

The APK doesn't work with my V30+ from B&H either.
It installs just fine, and my first boot up of it seems fine too. I'm able to see and delete the default "Welcome to AT&T Visual Voicemail" vm message that the app generates.
But if I close the app and try to reopen it, it just hangs at a blank screen, completely frozen until I force close it.
Additionally, every time I reboot my phone, within seconds, I get a notification of that same stock "Welcome to AT&T Visual Voicemail" vm message.
If I click on the notification, it attempts to open up the app, and causes the same hang mentioned above.
If I delete the app and reinstall the APK, it'll once again appear to work for that first time I open it up. But nah, it's still broken.
Personally, I think AT&T just needs to update the app to support the phone.
I remember it took AGES for them to finally release (via Google Play) a version of the app that would actually install and work on my old 2015 Moto flagship (which I ordered straight from Moto instead of getting from AT&T).
I suspect we're looking at a similar situation here; though I can't imagine why it'd work on the open market V30 but not the open market V30+.

yea that's me... btw the app version I'm using is 4.2.0.0028, never tried to update it since it's working as is.
So I just chatted with an AT&T customer service rep, and he indicated that I should be able to take my phone into an AT&T store, request that they sync up my device with their systems, and that should allow me to download and use the AT&T Visual Voicemail app from the Google Play Store. I don't have time to head over to a store today, nor will I tomorrow (big storm a-comin'), but I figured I'd post here to see if anyone knew anything about this process. I'll post back with my results later this week if no one beats me to it.
Just an FYI... I ran into a similar issue with Verizon's voicemail app. What I learned was that there's some security thing that Verizon does... Something like removing some key files from the APK. From my limited understanding on an official Verizon phone they install those missing files on the locked down ROM and the APK then installs fine... But if you buy a phone that's not officially supported... Such as our us998 unlockable phone... Then you don't get those files in the ROM... Which makes the APK say it's not compatible.
Due to this I had to setup Google Voice to get visual voicemail (by forwarding my voicemail to my GV number)
This is Verizon and not ATT though... And I would certainly like to be wrong and be very happy if someone managed to get Verizon's voicemail app working on a us998.
I have this tmobile version which i bought from a store as a 2nd hand. For the first 1 month the SIM card (carrier) worked, after the 1st month it shows (network locked) I used their app to unlock permanently and ofc it says "Not eligible" the other option is temporarily for another 1 month.
And now it has been expired and cant use the sim card again.
Any solution on how to unlock it ?
It was written up a few months ago here on XDA, but removed because it's a paid solution. You have to find the guy who can spoof your H932 to another T-mobile model number, then use T-mobile's servers to unlock it. And I think you have to temporarily downgrade your T-mobile H932 to Nougat for all that to work.
Only T-mobile servers can unlock current T-mobile phones. If anyone tries to sell you a "code" that works right now for your V30, you are wasting your money.

I didn't realize that thread had been deleted about a 3rd party service which unlocks T-Mobile phones. That's too bad since there are many legitimate scenarios where users need that to unlock a fully paid off phone.
@STALKER18: I seem to recall the service was called TMB Killer, but could be wrong. Try googling that and see what you get. No guarantees!
As ChazzMatt wrote, TMO phones can NOT be unlocked with a code like other phones, so don't believe anybody trying to sell you that.
Thank you for sharing that. That's on a T-Mobile H932, not some other V30 model, right?
Sorry to ask, I just want to make sure, since it's a completely different game with those T-Mobile phones.
What was the procedure? Did they connect remotely through your PC or what?
Thanks again.
Edit: A few spammers posting about unlocking services have been killed and their posts removed, including the one referred to in this post. H932 owners (and arguably everybody) should avoid the service mentioned here.
Thank you.
Was it T-Mobile H932 (which requires a special procedure connecting to TMO servers) or some other V30 model (which can be unlocked with a simple code)?
I'll keep asking this question because many 3rd party services sell codes -- and happily promote themselves with links on these forums -- but they don't work with H932.
So unless somebody specifically reports unlocking a H932, I'll assume it was just a simple code (again, which doesn't work on H932).
With several posters now having reported unlocking with the service you mention, but none of them confirming it's for H932, even when asked, I'm getting a bit suspicious, thinking this is a service H932 owners should avoid
Edit:
OK, seeing as you posted in three different threads about unlocking three different phones in the last 24 hours using this service, I am going to assume this was just spam to promote them. Being a spammer, I assume these lg/samsung simunlock DotCom guys (link obfuscated) would also happily take money from H932 owners, even though they cannot actually unlock their phones. So I say stay away from them!
If I am wrong, AND you really unlocked those three different phones, AND one of them is indeed a H932, I apologize and will happily update my post.

I share your suspicions. Especially since prior to those three posts in the past 24 hours, last time he posted was over a year ago. Maybe he's being helpful all of a sudden? I don't know.
BUT if T-mobile H932, he should know the carrier and model number is very important to state. He wouldn't just say "V30". We can already carrier unlock all the other North American V30 and even the rare H932PR (Puerto Rico) V30 -- by ourselves. Unless the person specifically says "T-mobile H932", I don't trust them to know what they are talking about for SIM card unlocking. I don't even like the title of this thread, as it's not specific enough. (But that's just me, because I know of the H932PR V30, which is completely different animal.)
It's like when people ask in WTF bootloader unlock thread, "Why didn't this work?" And they fail to say what variant and what firmware (especially) they are on. Because if you read the instructions, you know those are the two most important items for it to work. So, anyone would specifically mention that information when asking for help. That makes me very suspicious they haven't really read anything -- and I'm usually right.
EDIT: and magically the spam post from today just above this post is now gone!
I just reported the spammer just above this post. It's going to disappear soon. He posted several times today in different device forums, promoting his various SIM unlocking services.
I almost engaged him, to ask if he had indeed unlocked T-mobile H932 -- then I saw his post history and knew it was useless. Spam bot.

Got it. Yeah they had to be reported sooner or later. I thought of reporting them back then, but figured it would be better to keep the posts here as a warning to avoid that service. They'll still have the SEO benefit, but at least H932 owners who see this would know this is NOT the one to give their money.

No, the site you mention are spammers and scammers. They can NOT unlock recent (past three years or so) T-Mobile variants which need access to T-Mobile servers. If they claim they can do it, they are lying.
For our V30 the only variant which cannot be carrier unlocked by ourselves via Frankenstein is the T-Mobile H932. You have to find someone who will help you spoof another T-Mobile model number and I think you have to temporarily downgrade to Nougat. It's a little complicated. For T-Mobile phones if someone just offers you a code, they are trying to scam you.

It's another spammer. They made a number of posts the last 24 hours about using that site to unlock all kinds of phones. I reported them, maybe you did as well. I think their strategy is to post spam often enough to drown out our warnings.
Edit: I live in FL where roaches are always a concern. We keep our kitchen super clean (you have to in this climate) and have generally been without them for years. When occasionally we saw one in the past, they were always the big American Cockroaches. But this summer we began seeing the smaller German Cockroaches, which are notoriously hard to get rid of. Suddenly came out of nowhere. Every time we think we have them beat, another one shows up. And only when we have to get up at night for a sip of water or something. They come out only in the the dark.
Anyways, when people compare spammers to roaches, I have to say the similarity really is striking

Oh, I noticed! And as I mentioned in a previous post, I am aware of the SEO benefit they get from me mentioning them in a post. OTOH I also want to warn other members against them, which works best for newcomers if they know who I am warning against
Come to think of it, I can obfuscate the links. Let me do that right away!

Awesome, thank you for confirming that!
Edit: Just to make sure, can you confirm it is a H932 you unlocked, and elaborate a little bit on the process? Thanks in advance!

Well, I'm sorry, but I don't remember the exact process.
The phone has to be rooted.
If I'm right, I had to edit a file in my H932, to change its name from H932 to H930 (or something like that).
Then I downloaded the TMB killer software on my computer, bought credits, pluged my phone and launched the program.

Perfect, thank you! Just the kind of description I was looking for. Gives an idea of the process.
