Sms and mms - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Where are deleted sms and mms files stored, even after a reset? I have been trying to reset my phone but no matter what I do I can recover all me deleted messages with GT SMS Recovery. Is there some way I can find out what directories this program is scanning, maybe something like alogcat will tell me what directories are being scanned?
I have already deleted my mmssms.db and anything found that resembles it and cleared my text logs in my mms app. Im just curious where this app keeps pulling up deleted sms messages from.

Deleted texts in TF3D are not deleted in Windows Messaging

What am I missing. When I delete a text in the TP TF3D front end by using the menu to delete, it deletes, and removes the message on the Text tab. But if I go into the windows messaging app the mesages are not deleted. This could be a major problem, because you think you are staying on top of deleting your texts to keep the phone clean, and not take up memory, but if you don't enter the windows messaging app and delete the texts they keep piling up.
Anybody know what I am missing so that the TF3D function, completely deletes the texts off the phone?

Recover SMS?

Hello,
Today my phone somehow deleted over 1300 sms i had with a person.
I was supposed to back them up, but it was deleted beforehand...
It seems that this have happened to other people, and i wonder if there are any way to recover these messages, or are they all gone?
They are from a period of a week and a half, so they arent that old...
Anybody?
I'd recommend installing smsbackup, which periodically backs up your txts to your gmail account. I never have to worry about random messages getting deleted now (not that it's happened to me YET)
I don't think you can recover the messages now unfortunately...
The database is in /data/data/com. Something like htc.mms but I can't be sure.
But i think they are gone
Wavesecure also does sms backup, as does titanium backup and a few others like it, including the app mentioned above.
If you want to backup your sms easily you have to put that code in adb :
adb remount
adb pull /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db mmssms.db
But I don't know if you can recover them if you have not allready back them up (I don't think so)

[Q] Delete messages

Okay, I have 20,000 texts on my phone and both the stock messaging app and handcent are really stuttering. I want to just quickly delete all of my messages, but after clearing all data and cache on messageCS and message I still have all the messages on my phone and it's taking forever to delete them. Is there any way to just quickly wipe them all without my other information being wiped? I have full root

deleting email autofill history?

as title says, i cant for the life of me figure out how to get rid of the email history of contacts that are not even on my phone.
i have accidently typed emails wrong before, and other peoples addresses from CC's, or 1 time random emails that i dont want saved with the same name as other people always show up.
if you hold the contact button down in the recipient tab you get a list of previously sent email contact logs, how do i delete those logs?
thanks
Clear data on the email app ?
I'm guessing tho. I don't use the email app, and this may delete stuff you might want to keep I.E saved email on your phone. Maybe make sure you have those emails in your account to download again/don't try this if the only copies of those emails you have saved are on your phone or you don't have them backed up.
success!
i stopped the email app and cleared the data, i had to reinstall my accounts but that was np.
the annoying autofill has reset itself so thats solved that problem, however when i press the contacts button to see the logs list its still the same as before with all the unwanted names listed.
i searched the net and i cant find an answer to clearing that list anywhere, so i dont suppose you can and we are stuck with it. i even wiped my phone before installing ICS and that hasnt cleared it. seems very wierd that theres noway to get rid of it
anyway thanks for your help mate

Sms badge reset

I'm using the stock lg sms app and the badge is showing an unread message. I've deleted all messages, cleared the data on the sms app and even moved the sms default to hangouts and back.
Any help would be appreciated.
Go into your recovery and wipe the cache partition it will force all of the apps to refresh their data that way the notification's will also reset. There are several things that cause this, this may just be a glitch but if that first wipe doesn't work try wipe the dalvik cache as well. Both of those wipes should help but if that still does not work try us tb to uninstall it then download a rom and extract the apk and re install it. If that doesn't work just re install the rom or go to a previous back up when you had the messages. Just read them. I personally recommend just going to cm it does not have all of the junk like the stock rom. If you do plan to extract the apk then look in the system app folder it may also be in the private app folder. Also try to switch to a different SMS app I think that the google messenger is the best. Mostly because it has material design and is the fastest over all.
Figured it out. I loaded textra, but kept the default on the LG app. In textra there was an old text, which was deleted last week. Removed the text, removed textra and badge issue resolved.
