I recently had a problem with my XDA 1. It started running VERY VERY slowly (kind of like a computer that was infected with 10000 spyware programs). The battery was constantly showing that it was going to shutdown but yet seemed to still operate.
I tried doing a backup to SD Card while it was on the cradle, yet after about 4 minutes of usage it would automatically soft reset - interrupting the backup.
So i thought stuff it, i don't care about the data i will just do a hard reset. Now, after doing the hard reset i can't even get it to turn on. The O2 Screen comes up and the light flashes on and off every few seconds. It does this for about 45 seconds then switches off again.
Does it sound like the mainboard is gone? Could it just be the battery? Are there any home repairs ideas? I do have a second xda i can pull apart if i must to test what is wrong with this one.
Thanks.
Adrian
boot problem
if a desktop pc were to exhibit these sort of problems then i would definitely suspect a motherboard problem. if you are still under warranty then straight back to the store is the place for you. if not then scour the forums for solutions fixes or suggestions, there are some very experienced people on here - not me -
ian
since it's still under warrenty I strongly advice to replace it or at least to get it repaired by the center ... but if you tend to feel it's a challenge for you to fix it your self, then you may do the following to eleminate the possibility of S/W problem ...
1. Flash the ROM with a new OS image. This should solve any ROM problem.
2. Make sure you didn't turn on the "Calib/Debug" option in the GSM menu of the boot loader.
BTW, was the radio part OK while having this problem ?
actually its not under warranty, i bought it off a friend when he upgraded to his XDA II. Im not sure what the radio version was, i jsut put any details in there because i couldnt boot to find out what it was at.
Can you flash the rom without having to boot it up? Are there the instructions on how to do it on this site?
Thanks.
hi anyone knowns how to do that?
thanks in advance.

Had same problem, this worked for me:
You Need:
PhoenixSuit
1) Install PhoenixSuit
2) Disconnect USB
3) Shut down tablet (Hold power for 10 sec)
4) Press and hold Home-button
5) Connecting USB (keep holding down Home button)
6) Press Power button 10-15 timer (While still holding down Home)
Now 1 of 2 thing happen
If 1: PhoenixSuit pops up and askes, want to reset? - Press yes.
If 2: Nothing.
7) Download stock Ainol firmware
8) Try to update tablet via PhoenixSuit (PhoenixSuit will say that i cant connect to tablet, but ask you to do step 1-6)
9) Do steps 1-6, and it should work this time. (well, did for me)
Hope this helps, else i got nothing

Relax guys. I need a bit of advice from you experts around. Onda unfortunately isn't available in my country and they say it's not being imported anymore due to problems.
So this is where I end up.
I need help choosing Ainol Novo 9 Spark or Ainol Novo 10 Eternal (known as Captain with 2GB ram and 1200x800 display)
I like the Novo 9 Spark but I read it has wifi problems ( which im not sure is hardware or software) and low speaker volume and it's retina display eats a lot of battery, doesn't support all apps and isn't good for 3D gaming.
Where as Eternal (Captain) has no WiFi problems until now (supports 150mbps), a better battery life (11000 Mah) and as its 1200x800 display it is much faster and has a decent volume. But it has a cheap poor performance CPU ATM 7029 and poor GPU GC 1000. As its new it lacks custom roms and stock repacks too ..
Which one should I go for?
I'll be buying either one this week.

To buy or not to buy
Properly the wrong post for this, but short:
- Do you like to "play around" with your tablet (setting up, installing new firmware, clocking ...)
- Expect to surf internet, read stuff and watch movies alot? (where the Retina display realy comes to life)
My experience is, that stock Ainol 9 suckes; terrible software/firmware.
An update to "Rom by x-calibur sdk 3.2 Yandex 0718" transformed my Novo 9 to not only a usable tablet, but acually a pretty good one.
Games it plays, see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2175446 - All games i have tried works.
Hardware is fine, not the best, not the worst - (but then again, cant expect top-end hardware in a cheap-end tablets); all in all i find it more than adequate.
Especialy the Retina display realy does af difference, crisp clear, but comes at a cost, more work fore the CPU = shorter battery time and less speed - I find it worth it, still get 7-8 hours gaming at max brightness.
Worst Things:
- Wifi antenna is not the best, with at desent router/accespoint you get ok signal (40-60 %), but if you have a big house and low wifi signal in some parts of your house, this might not be the tablet for you. - Its a Hardware problem, so no easy fix, its possible to replace the antenna, but its not a big enough problem fore me to start disasembeling my tablet.
- Play store wont recognize tablet properly - Basicly i cant download anything i have to pay fore, amazon app store works, but just not the same - I get by with downloading apk and donating.
I have no experience with the Novo 10.

Thank you, have to learn knowledge.
Same problem
Sorry for my english. I got a Ainol Spark 9 updated to 4.2.2 with TWRP recovery. It turns off suddenly and when I try to turn on appears boot loop. I tried to update via PhoenixSuit pressing home button, conecting USB cable to PC and pressing 10 times nothing happens, Phoenix does not recognize the tablet.
Any suggestion? there is any way to hard reset the tablet pressing buttons?

Try reinstalling the rom and then, before rebooting, wipe the dalvik again. Others were having the same problem (with the Onda V972 - the same tablet) and this seemed to sort them out.
my ainol is not starting
i was doing a firmware update on my ainol novo spark using pheonix suit and usb was disturbed during upgrade and since then my ainol is not working.not even showing any display not even that of charging.can anybody help please?

Well, my Spark died as you know so I contacted to seller online who sold me the device about my problem. Then they ask me for some info and pics showing the issue I sent back the tablet to warranty replacement and a couple months later they sent me a new tablet. I just spend the cost of shipping to China, that's all.
hard reset
When the tablet is completely off
1. Hold the Volume down button
2. Press and hold the power button. You will see a battery appear and a hear a beep shortly after. Release after about 15 seconds.
3. The device will now boot into boot loader with ability to hard reset.

hi All,
my SPARK 9, AINOL NOVO tablet started freezing repeatedly, and kept displaying that apps downloaded from google playstore were no longer compatible and stopped working. soft factory resets did not solve the problem as the apps kept misbehaving as before. i had to force close it after another episode of freezing by pressing down the power button. after this, the tablet did not come on again.
the tablet now shows the following symptoms:
1. not recognized by PC or phoenix software
2. does not display battery charging icon when connected to charger but tablet becomes warm after some time.
3. i have read that in order for phoenix software to recognize the tablet, one must use a screwdriver to bridge certain pins, but before proceeding , the pin configuration of the chipset in the tablet should be identified -as my tablet is also AINOL, but the spark 9-so i am posting the chipset pictures, pls if this procedure will work with the spark 9 kindly assist. i have tried to upload the pictures of the motherboard showing the two NAND FLASH chips on board, but the link does not display paths on my laptop but rather a URL.
there are 2 flash NAND's on the motherboard with these serial numbers"
SK hynix
H27UCG8T2BTR
BC 309AA
M12KG9320H & M12KH8120H
i have downloaded this rom: Novo9-Spark-LX-20130422v1-1, i hope to flash it to the tablet once phoenix can recognize the tablet.
thanks.
thanks.
Hi everyone!
This is my first post unfortunately, I'll try to keep things short and clear. I'm in pretty deep $#&@.
My Prime:
-4.1.1
-WW sku
-firmware 10.4.2.18
I was happy with it for two years I have never touched it other than updating it from HC all the way to JB. Two years later out of nowhere the screen gets garbled the tablet started to give screaming sounds through the speaker at max volume and then it went dark. I couldn't switch it on only after a whole night on the charger although it had enough juice on it. Since then every time I boot it it tries to install an OTA camera firmware update, but it fails each time, it gives the exclamation mark once in android, same result.
Issues after the incident:
- SD card slot not working,
- USB port not working,
- whenever the tablet has to make sound through speakers the screaming goes on until I shut it down or it goes dark by itself,
- the tablet recognises false power and volume button presses only in android in the recovery they work fine,
- sound through any type of external speaker, headphone earphone works, but occasionnally there is noise in the background
- the camera firmware is completely missing, upon opening the app it says it can't work without the firmware and asks me kindly to update it (in the about tablet the firmware version is X-ed out)
- if I close the tablet with the dock, it can't be unlocked again, it must be rebooted in oder to use it
- te tablet doesn't get recognised by my and any other PCs although it charges fine (that was an old issue i bought another cable with the same result)
- varoius little bugs, wifi switching on and off, gps weakness, notification bar not opening
What works:
- microSD card slot (i have a fat32 formatted microSD with 4GBs of storage)
- keyboard with all keys
- touchscreen
- all apps & games
How I tried to solve the problem:
I factory reset it about 4 times since without success obviously. The device is no longer under warranty so I unlocked its bootloader with the ASUS tool. It worked fine. I can't achieve root however because of the connectivity issue, Framaroot says my device isn't vulnerable. I tried to update the firmware through my microSD card, but the exclamation mark doesn't appear even after a reboot or hard reset (maybe because I had the latest already installed). There is no RMA in my country, and the fee of the service and the transport all the way to and back from the Czech Republic is way too high for me to pay.
So here I am with a more or less functional Prime robbed of nearly all the features, helpless and not knowing what to do next.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, although I really do think that it is beyond saving.
Cheers,
Peter from Hungary
Try to install a new rom. It seems like a software problem.

Yes, the stock recovery works perfectly if that's what you ask!
IS there a slight chance of making it work again?
Hi Guys,
Hoping someone can help me - I've searched the forum and can't find a similar thread. Essentially, after months of trying to get a refund on this crap phone, I give in - the issues with this phone are longer than my ****.
Long story short, I installed this ROM using TWRP: http://www.needrom.com/download/umi_iron/#comment-269759
However, after reboot, the phone now literally boots up for a second and resets - I cannot get into Recovery and no matter if I hold power the button and volume, it will not respond. I have SP Flash Tool, but when I connect the phone to my PC, the PC recognises it for a second and then the phone reboots and loops.
To be honest, I've never used SP-Flash Tool and when I power up USBDeview here is what I'm presented with.
http://i.imgur.com/GgS8toq.png
The only thing that happens is when I get the USB connected Windows sound, MT65xxx preloader goes from connected YES to connected NO.
If anyone has any ideas or can give me a bit of guidance, I will bloody well buy you a pint if you are ever in Liverpool, UK.
Oh and the UMI forum is beyond idiotic - I can't even login and when I do, I can't post - I can't verify and it is just a mess.
Let's just say, I will never buy from this company again as all I have with this phone is issue after issue after issue after issue.
Good day all,
Long story short I was having issues with my Gear S and my new note 9 with blank notifications. I tried to flash a later firmware version but it kept failing at rootfs install.
After a number of tries with different firmware and rising desperation to get my watch working again I attempted the following threads suggestion and after installing the second file it seems to have killed my watch.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/gear-s/broke-gear-s-how-to-reinstall-firmware-t3569695
The watch is now stuck in a reboot loop just showing the splash screen then going blank and repeating. No amount of button pressing seems to be able to get it into download mode so I'm assuming the recovery partition has been killed. Serves me right for rushing but I'm wondering if anyone knows any other ways the device can be downloaded to or if taking it to a Samsung repair center (if they will even attempt it) is the only option. I was planning on spoiling myself with an newer watching in 6 months time, this is just not the way I wanted to be forced to do it.
thanks!
Looks like I am making progress thanks entirely to this post (second post by OP)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/gear-s/dev-gear-s-android-port-t3177740
Couldn't find this through general searching but came across a link for it on another site. Managed to briefly get into the recovery menu before my battery wiggled loose (the clip broke ages ago and I used an elastic to hold it in place to charge). Will try flash it tonight and hopefully bring my beloved Gear S back from the dead.
