Quick Charge 3.0 for Xperia X? - Sony Xperia X Questions & Answers

Does Xperia X supports Quick Charge 3.0? What happens if we use 3.0 charger?

prob it will work at qc 2.0 speed

QuickCharge is backwards compatible with the previous versions. I use an Aukey PA-T9 QuickCharge 3.0 charger on my Xperia X and it charges way faster than the standard charger even through Xperia X is certified for QC 2.0 only...

The original Xperia X charger doesnt have QuickCharge 2.0 (at least mine didnt had) thats why is faster with your PA-T9 charger , i think if u take a QuickCharge 2.0 and a 3.0 and test them on Xperia X it will charge at the same speed (QC 2.0)

Xperia X shipped with a Quick Charger only in a handful of countries, I also got a standard 5V @ 1.5A charger with mine.
Also, I'm not implying that QC 3.0 is faster than QC 2.0, I'm just assuring the OP that Xperia X can get fast charged with a QC 3.0 charger even through it's certified only for QC 2.0.

I think I broke something on my end. So yesterday I charged Samsung Tab 4 with my "new" QC3 UCH12 charger from ebay( before I charged my phone and it was fast) and now my phone can't charge more than 0.7A and it says it's on 4V. But in the mean time I connect my standart UCH20 5V @ 1.5A it charges at 1.5A but sometimes it goes to 1 or 0.7A but then goes back to 1.5A. Any tips?
Also sometimes it just won't charge my phone. Like it would connect for a second and then disconnect.
I would really like to get some help

QC charges depending on how much battery u have left in your phone and some nonbrand chargers are pretty bad and they dont work as intended with some phones.

You already got it ?
Do not bother with quick charge 2.00, although snapdragon 801 support it I don't think our z2 software has that enabled.
Why I am saying that is because the maximum charging current the z2 draws is 1.50 amps (measuring it with one of these)
I've tried different chargers (oneplus charger, anker charger which both capable of 2 amps) and different cables and always the max is 1.50

Yes, I know about that already and I mentioned that in my comment. But as I said the z2 maxes out at 1.5 amps I think because of software limit.
I really hope this QC 2.00 get working in the z2 because it takes a lot of time to charge this phone fully.

Is that on a dead battery? Current flow will settle down as the battery reaches more charge for safety.
I use a 1A charger from my old HTC phone with the dock at night, but it doesn't feel to me like my Sony wall charger is any faster. In fact, it feels slower. The quickest charges I got were actually through my desktop, my motherboard has a charging feature on the USB 3.0 ports.

Ah sorry, guess I read wrong.
But as Sony and Qualcomm say the Z2 is QuickCharge compatible I think it should be working.
You can't see more than 1.5A because you do not have a QuickCharge 2.0 charger! And even if you would and then plug this USB anpereMeter in between it might block the data transfer making the phone think it is connected to a standard USB port.
I'm not even sure if QuickCharge 2.0 CAN draw more than 1.5A! We only know that it allows up to 9V or 12V.
There are 3A or 4A 9V chargers around. But I don't know how much the phone would want to get.
BTW. With Doomkernel and FastCharge enabled you should be able to demand more than 1.5A... I think up to 2A was available in FauxApp
But I think I failed when I tried. Not sure anymore... ^^ been a while.

Galaxy S6 Quick Charger to recharge G3 ?

Hi guys,
Anyone know what if I use Galaxy S6 quick charger for charging my G3? Quick Charge will work or not? Thanks.
Bump?
LG G3 supports Quickcharge 1.0 so it will charge faster with a Quickcharger compared to standard 2.0Amp charger but not as fast as a phone with Quickcharge 2.0 capability. All of my chargers home and car are now Quickcharge 2.0
Use the 1.8 stock charger that it came with

Yes Snapdragon 800 series phones so support this in the chipset but it's up to the phone manufacturer to complete the charging circuit. Apparently LG didn't put in a Quick charge 2.0 compliant part in the second half of the charging circuit. Quick charge 2.0 uses 5V, 9V and 12V to charge faster. The G3 doesn't have the capability to charge on all of those voltages. Can't remember exactly what we have but it's Quick charge 1.0 compliant.
Bottom line get a good Quick charge 2.0 charger and it will charge this phone faster than a standard charger.
for me Stock charger G3 charge my phone 2%-100% in 2h . Today I buy samsung charger that have fast charger and charge my phone 2%-100% in 1h 45m .
I hear some G3 kernels have fast charge . which kernel have fast charge ? and its safe to use fast charge for this phone ? I know its active in kernel auditor app battery setting .

Charging speed

To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Xiaomi Mi A2 can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
The phone ships with a quick charge 2.0 charger. The phone supports 3.0 and also 4.0 for India markets. Mine is Malaysian so it's 3.0. With stock charger it takes 1 hour 20mins + to get fully charged. Not too bad. With a QC 3.0 charger (Using my mi max 2 charger) it takes about less than an hour to get fully charged based on estimates. Charges quite quickly to 70% so stock charger is actually fine.
I think it supports USB PD as well, I used my pixel 2xl charger and it showed that the phone is charging rapidly, will do another full test and post results!

I don't think QC 3.0 is that much slower compared to QC 4.0. It's not like Oppo's new charge system, now that's quick haha. QC 3.0 is fine. I am still using QC 2.0 and it's all good no issues with it.

If you own a Global Version, your device will only support QC 3.0. Only Indian Variants support QC 4.0
My A2 unit is behaving quite strange, first let me say that Ampere is not so reliable as a USB power monitoring device, which I have (this unit gets you also the voltage which is being supplied to the phone).
MY measurements (with supplied USB-C cable) are:
- Stock charger: 1,6A voltage 5V
- QC 3.0 charger: up to 2,4A voltage 6,5V
- QC 2.0 Charger (works with Asus Zenfone 2 and Galaxy S8 on quick) - sometimes ZERO - just shuts down after a minute
Other 2A 5V chargers often not more than 0,6A (depending on cable)
So, A2 is very sensitive with cables and charging electronics and probably cannot accept 9V.
Global version.
Sometimes the phone when plugged in charger shows "Charging slowly" and sometimes "Charging Rapidly", What's up with that?

With a Power Delivery 3.0 charger and smartphone off, it can surely be charged with a voltage of about 9V.
I don't know if it's possible also in other cases.
Is the QuickCharge 4.0 a software or a hardware feature in the Indian version? Just wondering if QC 4.0 can be "unlocked" in the global version through future software tweaks?

Absolutely no

Does the M5 have Quick Charge or not?

When I say Quick Charge, I mean proper QC technology, not some "quick" or "fast" charging method unique to Huawei only.
The stock charger says [email protected] or [email protected] QC2 and 3 can do [email protected] However when I put the M5 onto my QC3 charger, it only draws [email protected] as tested with a cable with V/A reading.
Charger and cable had been tested to work at proper QC power with my ZTE Axon 7, drawing 18W and also a Moto G4 Turbo Charging.
The strange thing is, if there is some "special" Huawei only technology on the stock charger, it still charges my Axon 7 and G4 with "standard" QC3. Anyone has been successful charging their M5 on a standard QC2/3 charger?
Only does fast charge when the screen is turned off.
there's also a possibility that your volt/amp meter is blocking the fast charge also.

Tried it with screen on or off, and even with the M5 off, still 10W on a non stock QC3 charger.
Cable definitely works for quick charge because I used the same cable on the stock charger and it reads 18W, so it is not blocking anything.
I use this QC3 charger. I get the dual lightning bolt symbol which I think means fast charge.

Yes, 2 lighting symbol means QCing. However it does not show on my non stock QC charger. My other QC-able devices does on both that charger and the Huawei stock one, strange.
Huawei's fast charge is not part of the Qualcomm's QC standard. However I have found that QC3 is cross compatible with Huawei M5's fast charge.
My 2 cents.

Cable shouldn't matter for QC and proven not to matter as I used the same random cable (and also the cable with the V/A meter) on this charger and the stock charger. It QC my M5 and Axon 7 on the stock charger but only QC my phone on the Aukey charger.
I have a USB C charger ordered, will see if that works better with the M5.

I had since discovered that Huawei does not use QC standards but their own FCP for fast charge. Some QC chargers have that ability built in, but not all. Time to invest in more chargers I think.
Further update: My charger with USB PD arrived and no, it does not charge the M5 (FCP) nor my Axon 7 (QC3) fast. However the M5 charges off my Tronsmart portable charger with VoltIQ and QC3. I had done a bit of digging around and found (so far) that only Tronsmart make any chargers that can support both standards at the same time from the same port. This is great as it is when I am out and about I will need quick charging most.
Sadly they do not (at the moment) make a charger with, say 2 x QC + VoltIQ ports. It is either 1 x QC + VoltIQ and 4 x normal or 5 x QC + VoltIQ and that one costs a bit too much.

There are many chargers that can QC and FCP at the same time, BUT very few that have 2 or more ports that can do them all at once (or at least FCP+QC on one and QC on the other), just one port and the other one at normal speed. There is a Tronsmart one with 5 ports but it is quite costly.
What happens if you just plug m5 into Google phone usb-c fast charger? Like for my nexus 6p. Slow charging? How much slower? Really want one USB c charger for all my stuff.

Not sure what the nexus comes with. However I had tried it with QC3 charger and a USB C PD charger and both just slow charges. Only Huawei original charger or SOME chargers with VoltIQ can fast charge the M5.
plugging in my USB tester proves that actually it takes a 9v 2a charge from original power adapter and cable. Whilst screen is on also.
I'm looking at various chargers and cables to make use of quick charge, or at least fast charge. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I need a FCP capable charger, and a 5A cable?

I can confirm that you do not need the original cable for FCP charge. I used a USB 3.0 (blue plug) cable that works with QC3 for FCP and this is confirmed by a USB V/A meter.
I think Huawei has their own standard. Some of my QC 2 chargers work, some don't using the same cable.
Frustrating that I can't use my Google phone usb-c charger for fast charging. How much slower is it using non Huawei fast charger? Any ideas?

Huawei FCP is [email protected]=18W or [email protected]=22.5W. Not sure which one our tablet uses, at work cannot check the actual charger. However when plugged into a QC2/3 charger, it charges at [email protected]=10W. Meaning it will be between 80% to 125% more time with a non FCP charger.
Having just picked up my M5 8.4, confirm my PD charger is (apparently) quick charging the device. It says fast charge on the lock screen and I've got the double lightning bolt in the status bar. Score!

I think it's just Quick Charge 3.0. You should buy the 27W charger imo. But i could be wrong
I have it, it does quick charge but not charge turbo
Good I stopped by XDA before purchasing it.
It does say if you scroll down on its specs it's a QC4 charger, but I assumed the described output would be a sum of both USB ports working simultaneously.
Already posted about it some weeks ago.

It's indeed just a QC 4.0 charger. Will only do 18W.
Hi, I have one. For it to work properly you have to have the cable of more than 30w.
Load much faster than the original that comes in the box. I did a quick test from 75% to 100% with the phone turned off and charged in 25min; so you can assume if it's fast or not.
WTF ; does this phone even do QC4 ... the Xiaomi offical charger is 3.0 and I bought a $68 dollars Belkin QC : 4.0+ offical as per reviews and it caps out at. 3470 : it NEVER has said fast or TURBO and it ofen Ampere reports 1800 mah ? Can anyone explain this in any way

I suspect that Turbo Charge only happens with the 27W factory charger.
Because my Hama QC4+ charger, certified by Qualcomm, charges definitely faster than the 18W charger found in the package, but does not say Charge Fast or even Charge Turbo.

Call me crazy but I think it will charge the device at 27W speed.
A lot of people don't seem to realize but the "Xiaomi Turbo Charger 27W" is actually QC3, not QC4+, and it does charge the device at 27W. If you find a QC4+ charger that supports 27W and up, you will still get 27W charging but you won't see "Charge Turbo" because it will use the better, newer charging standard.
This can make charge turbo QC 3.0 and it's cheaper and with more ports:

Yeah but it can only charge at standard QC3 speeds, aka 18W at max. 9V/2A like the original one does. But the original one can also do 12V/1.5A. So it does not "Turbo Charge".
Careful many poster here are confused. My BELKIN true QC4.0+ never ever charged over 3200mA and averaged out at under 2200mA. Posters who speak about things without testing their theories are really frustrating. Do yourself a favor don't believe this phone accepts QC4 or QC 4.0+ (at least not @July 2019) only QC 3.0 NON FAKE xiaomi 27w can do the 4600mA + it would seem. Turbo charging is required for extremely rapid charge times. Make sure you get OFFICIAL 20V 1.35A from Xiaomi for Turbo Charge sustained charge and under one hour 0--100%
I also purchased a QC 4.0+ Hama DC charger cause Xiaomi doesn't make a DC charger to my knowledge. Guess what ; 18w ish charging speeds .. no Fast or Turbo classification ...
XIAOMI Hoe do you call this phone a QC 4.0/4.0+ unit !!! Cause look close at the charger Turbo pictures they are all using the "Original QC 3.0 Xiaomi charger that we ALL should have got in the box. Instead many of us have wasted tonnes of money and time buying useless to us QC 4.0+ tech that doesn't work or WORSE fake chargers that don't do more than 18w !! By the time we we have ordered 3-4 different chargers trying to get it to work we have to order it on Ali or gearbest or Gearvita. Cause the company does make them after all!! Enjoy the brutal shipping fees and heavy wait times. Well we order this and that trying to get the darn thing to work. So annoyed right now
Hi, I got the original charger and this if it gives the turbocharged 27w charge, however the baseus charger charges the same as the one that comes in the box or with the wireless charge.
I made this short video: https://youtu.be/nFBoPxORzEg

Posted for those who end up here like me and read mixed info
I also have the Baseus charger mentioned above (BS-EU906), the variant with 2 usb A ports.

But when I charge with my Baseus 2m 5a capable cable (CATSS-B0G), it never goes above 3400mA ~14w.
It still chargers fast, but it is not what was advertised. Both the cable and charger are rated for QC3.
Baseus GaN charger 65W + Baseus 5A cable reaches 5000mA in Ampere, which is assuming 5V (that's what Ampere is assuming), equals to 25W. The fact is voltage in QC is never stable, it's the factor that allows it to dynamically supply power based on various parameters: battery temp, device temp, battery capacity and so on. If you have a USB-C USB doctor (and it should be more accurate than any software based monitoring) you can watch yourself that both the voltage and current are alternating constantly.
