Idk about root
can someone help convince devs to make a custom kernel for the oreo firmware in order to bypass the network and IMEI number problem on rooted devices. especially those rooted with magisk
Deleted
Guys,
After a day of hard research, I found that the cause of this "no network" shenanigans is due to this line in boot_patch.sh in the Magisk.zip installation file --- "add 750 init magiskinit" \ . This means that during the patch of init (Magisk is embedded in the init according to boot_patch.sh), our radio functions (to be launched through init?) are messed up and that's why we don't have network. I just recently tried to root again and even USB Transfer is not working, just a side note.
Odin Download Problem
Hi, I am trying to download to my J5 Prime but nothing happens. I get the phone in download mode, odin recognizes the phone as well. But when I click start, the mobile screen shows "Downloading" for like 3 seconds and then the phone restarts. Odin just shows "PASS" (like after 4 seconds). Its clearly not downloading at all. What could be the problem. It worked when I download nougat on this phone last year, but doesn't seem to work now. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Thanks in advance! I have enabled USB debugging. I can personally confirm that root is working on Oreo J5 Prime, at least for the F variant. No more 'no network problem'. I think the trick is to flash the new_boot.img in TWRP as an additional step (I think the root instruction is illustrated in the main TWRP thread for J5 Prime). Note that there is an irritating SecurityLogAgent notification after root that you can hide via third party apps
PS: I "surprisingly" didnt have the RMM problem. I tried flashing it but it always corrupts my /system partition. Very interesting...
Please iwant rom downgred to 7.0 for g570f

Alright so i was flashing the Noob-Proof Odin version of CM10 and when i used Odin to flash the file the operation failed.

Currently my phone is in download mode, it says Downloading Do not turn off target and the blue bar below it is stuck at around 60%.
Odin also recognizes my phone and well keeps saying Added!!, Removed!! all the time.
My phone was at 40%battery when i started this so im pretty sure battery didnt die midway but i dont know how long the battery will last. What do i do now? have i successfully bricked my phone beyond repair?
I was running criskelo team rom V13 before and made a EFS and Nandroid back up right before starting
My phone was at 40%battery when i started this so im pretty sure battery didnt die midway but i dont know how long the battery will last. What do i do now? have i successfully bricked my phone beyond repair?
Remove battery .
Flash stock rom via Odin with a charged battery .
jje
Stock rom? I cant flash CM10 again? and are you sure removing battery wont damage my phone? it clearly says Dont turn off target.
I just dont want to screw anything up
I would say leave it on wall charger for 30 minutes then flash stock with odin.
I had similar problem but with another phone, 40% battery is not enough.
edit: flashing stock is only to try and save the device, you can try and break it again afterwards
edit2: also by odin flashing 4.0.4 stock then rooting you can flash CM10 on recovery mode and be clear of wifi bug this way.
So i did what you said and again Odin is getting stuck again. This is what it says now. I flashed the XXALE8 firmware. I dont know what im doing wrong. Im currently downloading the XXALE8 firmware again and gonna try again

Bootloop is an indication that you need to get into recovery now and factory reset. You should be fine from here.

Hello forum,
I am interested in creating a recovery PDA file that I can flash for odin of my Samsung Galaxy Player 5. Could someone go about telling me how it could be done? Thanks in advance.

Your mean is you want to backup data in your device?
I think you can use an application named Titanium Backup.
I have no authority to send links. You can search it on the Internet.:silly:

On device as root
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p13 of=/sdcard/factoryfs.rfs
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p11 of=/sdcard/zImage
On pc, put those two files (from /sdcard) in a tar archive.
Would the terminal Emulator do this correctly?

Yes, as long as you run su to give you root access.
Thanks! I will try in a few to see how this goes.
Would this save my account information, WiFi passwords, etc?

No. That just saves your rom and kernel. For backup purposes, you will need mmcblk0p10 (efs - your wifi and bluetooth addresses), mmcblk0p14 (dbdata), and mmcblk0p16 (/data). mmcblk0p17 is your media/downloads/whatnot, but obviously you cannot copy it into itself. I just don't know the appropriate names for an Odin tar.
And in case you were wondering, partition 1 is an extended partition holding everything else, 2-4 are not used, 5-9 are for the bootloaders, 12 is a backup kernel, and 15 is cache.
You're really helpful and insightful, thank you for your time!
Last question, sorry for being a novice. But.. once I am done with the terminal Emulator, save it as a tar.md5 file and it'll be flashable on odin?

No problem.
You will need to transfer the two files to your computer, and use a tool like 7-zip to add them to a tar archive. The tar file's name should not end in .md5, or Odin will expect it to have extra data that isn't there.
I get a failure whenever I attempt to flash with Odin.

It should be factoryfs.rfs.
7-Zip is renaming it.

Maybe it's that I don't have PARAM, SBL, and BOOT?
Doing further testing I believe its my player acting up.

You don’t need Odin to flash something, you can flash a zip file from your custom recovery.

Ok you hadn’t mentioned it so I thought you might be able to.
A hard brick is when you cannot boot your phone into any mode.
From what I’ve read your case is called a sudden death (SDS), so try to search for it.

There are in fact some cheap used motherboards sold on eBay.
If you feel confident with replacing it, all steps are explained in images and video.
Be careful as you may need to take off the rear camera from your old motherboard and plug it on the new one.
