So I accidentally hit chip erase instead of partition dll in the lgup tool and now I just get the fastboot screen........ Damn........ Any way to recover from this? It's a ls998 I was flashing to US998
You could try downloading US99820b_03_0524.kdz from here
From that same thread, download the patched LGUP, install it, and use that to flash the .KDZ using partition - DL.
After it's finished, you will most likely boot back into bootloader. From there, do the following:
-Hold Volume Down + Power button
-As soon as the LG V30 logo appears, quickly let go of the power button ONLY and then press and hold it once again.
-A screen regarding resetting your device will appear, select yes for both prompts and hopefully it'll boot.
Huge thanks to @ChazzMatt for the instructions, the KDZ files, and for providing the patched LGUP.
If ALL you have is fastboot you can attempt to flash laf to your device then from there install a kdz

You can flash the US998 KDZ, but you've probably wiped it out your serial number and IMEI. You'll have to Google how to restore them.

Chip Erase wipes out the IMEI and maybe other things. You may be able to recover by re-setting-up your IMEI, but discussions about how to do this are not allowed on XDA, so you'll have to look elsewhere for that. After that, you may try reflashing a ROM, but I don't know if that will necessarily fix everything or not.

Am really messed up. I hit erase in LGUP and it deleted the firmware. So, now the phone is just dead. Would you be in a position to link me up with someone with the knowledge of reviving the LG please?
Sorry, I don't. If you can't handle the work yourself, you may need to send it to a shop that can. Otherwise, you're looking at buying a new phone.
I might suggest the latter, since the V30 is quite old anyway. I moved myself to a Galaxy S10+ (not because anything broke, but just because I wanted to upgrade as well, and I didn't want to bother with an old phone, old battery, etc.

No because I needed heatgun to remove the shield to expose the chip, and find the pin point to bring it to life with a bridge wire and reflash.
For this varient I didn't find any pin points to continue. So I didn't buy a heatgun .
Phone is dead no power, no recognizable with USB or charge.

Oh, sorry for that! Mine is detected when plugged but cannot turn on . It's complicated and it needs patience. What of usb2jtag for LG?

So I was doing the whole fastboot thing and during the process of "erasing cache" I accidentally knocked the USB cable out.
Now the phone won't turn on at all, the lights don't even come on nor does the computer detect it when plugged in, it doesn't even display a screen when plugged into a power outlet or anything :-(
what can be done to save it?
Take it you have tried removing the battery and can you get it into Recovery mode
lufc, he may have smae problem as me, fastboot erase CATCH has bricked his phone and till now I cannot find support for this issue eighter.
It was completely dead, no fastboot mode, no recovery mode, even no QDL mode is available.
I am thinking about teardown my DELL and restore the 2G internal microSD, but I have asking for support from other senior guy, but no one have idea about all of this.

There is a long thread at MoDaCo that discusses replacing the internal sd card. If you just want to reformat to original the info is there, you just have to weed it out of the noise.
I have just received my streak back from dell. I used the fastboot -w command and had a dead tab.
It spent less than an hour in Budapest, Hungary before being sent back to me.

I have read that thread once last time, but my problem is I think fastboot has destroy my internalSD structure and data, so I cannot do "dd ...", I was asking if some one can give me idea on how to format it, or some one can backup his/her internalSD for me.
u can unbricked ur dell streak by jtag

Do you have the pinouts for DELL streak, I just want to see it before I buy RIFF BOX.
Do I need to tear down the Streak?
The same thing happened to me.
No solution, I'm afraid :/
But, I even didn't use fastboot, my phone had just got empty and wasn't able to turn on since then

Since 2 days, I am searching for a solution for the same issue. Has any one got a way to fix.
This thread is old but, Fastboot erase cache super bricks streak5's
the only (might not even work) way of unbricking is dissembling the phone, taking out the innerSD and reformatting it to it's original condition.
The easier way is to avoid fastboot erase, it is never actually needed as factory reset accomplishes essentially the same thing but without the risk of super bricks
I do not remember in which forum I followed such instruction i.e. erase cache. Nevertheless, what do you mean by
taking out the innerSD and reformatting it to it's original condition.

If you have the TMo optimus T, use the V10L kdz file. The flashing utility has a force mode that WILL work even if the computer does not detect the phone. You just have to make sure that nothing else is plugged into the USB port, and that your phone will power up.
I've bricked my phone 3 times now fiddling with removing stuff from the LIB directory from the stock rom (stupid me) and have always been able to recover it.

Ok, pop me a msg, my last option to revive it, is sending it to LG
Did a conversion to original 2.2.2 V10q with KDZ and when turning on the phone, it didn;t turn on (as expected). Not responding at all. Power, button combination or some @#@# like that - not working. So, sent it to LG Service through VDF Romania 4 days ago and now i have a new PCB with new IMEI and a fully working P500. So, that was my solution for meddling with updaters, ROM's, etc. and forgetting to disable LGE Modem in Device Manager (it was late at night)

I recently installed CyanogenMod with the Unlock Bootloader for noobs and I noticed the internal SD wasn't mounted. So I tried to flash an ICS ROM to see if it would work but it didn't. I was stuck at the boot screen. I tried restoring an ICS CWM backup and a JB backup but it didn't work. Currently, I have a flashed JB backup with a messed up touchscreen (because of the way I unlocked the boot-loader). It won't boot and I don't know how I can install the stock ROM. I really just want my phone to work at this point. I don't know if there's any way to use the offline method to flash a .kdz since I can't access android. I tried hard resetting, but when I do it starts up Clock Work Mod which I believe happens because of the way I unlocked boot-loader.
I'm trying to use this guide to fix it using SW upgrade. I did find a .bin and .fls which i'm downloading right now.
If anyone could help or give some advice that would be great. I really just want to use my phone, I don't care about flashing a custom ROM right now. As long as my phone works, I'll be happy.

Let me know if this works for you! Also you can do the offline fix just as long as you can get into S/W Upgrade mode. But I am curious to see if you can use the bin/fls files tool that you mentioned to get your phone working again.

Well just get your phone into S/W Upgrade mode and follow this tutorial. Getting into S/W Upgrade:
1. Get stock ROM here.
2. Turn off your phone
3. Press and hold the vol + button while inserting USB to computer
4. Keep holding the vol + until you see the S/W upgrade mode
5. Flash ROM with tutorial mentioned above.
Good Luck!

Isn't that just an infobank of all the KDZs? I'm pretty new, but can you flash a kdz with the offline method? To clarify, I was asking how to flash the kdz with the offline method in S/W upgrade mode. So ROMs/KDZs are essentially the same, right?
Edit: I read everything over again and realized what KDZs really are. I'm just wondering now if I could just hard reset in some other way because the LG Update Tool doesn't recognize my phone even though I see all the drivers. It's stuck at 15%.
Edit 2: I tried the method I suggested and it resulted with "Magic number does not concide".
So I'm stuck here with a phone that is stuck in bootloop, and has CWM installed. Can anyone help?

alright, this is all from memory but the offline flash didnt work as well for me when stuck in weird bootloops.
Step one-going back to online flash---->
A---
the easiest way i found was to go to C:/windows/system32/drivers/ect/hosts
right click>open with notepad
there should be two lines at the bottom
"127.0.0.1 csmg.lgmobile.com
127.0.0.1 csmgdl.lgmobile.com"
i would cut them out and paste them in a text doc in the same folder for reference later...
but either way you should remove them from the hosts file and save
B----
Make sure your small server is closed! once you minimize it it should go down to your status bar (shttps)
Step two-LGMS---->
make sure you have LG mobile support installed or install it.
open lg mobile support
install needed drivers for your phone
power your phone off/remove the battery
put battery back in
connect it to your computer holding down the volume up button
S/W UPDATE mode should pop up, if it doesn't preform and hardreset and try again til it works (it will)
then in the top right corner there should be a button or two click them both until you see
"restore update" or Update restore or something to that effect
select that
and let it ride man
i got my phone ****ed many times and just had to keep redoing this until it worked. if your bootloader is truely unlocked you can probably go through all that again and get CM10 working, i did but im still working through kinks.....

Such a late reply, sorry! I did nothing. Before you replied I flashed CM10.2 but never bothered to boot up my phone. Preparing to connect my phone to my comp, I couldn't start CWM so I figured " I'll just leave my phone plugged in for a few hours." Two hours later, my phone has a blank screen, i'm thinking "This shouldn't be blank? What the hell?." I pressed the power button and was greeted with Cid. I screamed out loud: "**** yeah!"
If people have the same problem as me all I did was: Reflash my my phone with 10.1, stock, 10.1 again, and then 10.2. I did that, only that.
What's funny is that I never checked to see if my phone was working after I flashed CM10.2. :silly:
Can't wait for Kit-Kat. Thank you for keeping up with my post, CROSSFREEZE I appreciate it!

I'm interested in running a custom Rom on my mpcs LG f6 (ms500). I'm a part timer at this, my understanding of code is devastatingly deficient.
I have a an l9 and another f6 that won't even turn on and I'm wondering where, even, to begin.
All are mpcs.
All three, including the one I'm writing this on presently, were/are rooted.
An update took out the non-working f6, and the l9 was my bad.
I'm now on a rooted f6 running battery booster pro, overclocked with freedom kernal, with roehsoft ram expander doubling my ram to 1608.
I realize my circumstances are all over the place, but, if anyone has the genuine benevolence to help me where they can; my gratitude will be unquantifiable.

I'll give a shot at trying to help you with the L9 but I'm going to need some details about what happened. :/
Thank you AshIndigo
L9 rooted and running system tuner pro. I turned on the oem battery function, kernal, doo-hicky (highly technical terminology). The unit ceased recognizing the battery after reboot. It stated, at boot, to insert oem battery and will not take a charge.
I'm considering a wipe and a new bootlaoder with a custom Rom if possible, but I'll settle with just getting it working.

Thats a new one. But what modes can you get into. S/W, fastboot, recovery, the wipe combination? If you can get into s/w mode just use the lg mobile tool and that should fix it. Otherwise we may need to reflash the phone. and is your bootloader unlocked?
It doesn't power up in the slightest. And it won't charge.
Bootloader was not unlocked, I'm still trying to wrap my skull jelly around that. I'm thinking flash might be the best option, but I'd prefer to preserve the data (not likely if flashed). I've downloaded LG flash tool, but the manual data entry is a mystery, excluding imei and serial.

Downloaded, followed instructions. Device booted once and quit while playing around with it, consistent with initial failure as I recall (if only vaguely), now on s/w update screen. Says please wait while upgrading.
Update:
Can enter s/w update. Now takes charge, will likely be 100% by the time you read this.
Lastly, can power on but powers off after entering screen unlock code.
Thank you again AshIndigo.
After some more dabbling, I've made it past the lock screen. The result is a message " please use genuine LG battery" before the unit shuts down and goes into what might might questionably be a bootloop. It's the system tuner pro app, set to start on start-up, that's the thorn in my side.
What are your orders captain?

Ok so before we try to re-flash the kernel. Lets just try the lg mobile support tool. If that doesn't work then heres instructions
1. If you have the p760 then heres the stock kernel
http://www.mediafire.com/download/87i322233ev36k8/stock-kernel.zip
3. Download it
4. extract the boot.img from the zips and put it into the "yours" folder in the fastboot folder
5. Get into fastboot
6. Make sure the device is connected by typing "fastboot devices"
(It should look like this) http://cdn.teamandroid.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/fastboot-devices-600x302.jpg
6a. Pray to Google
7. type "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
8. Pray again.
If you don't have the p760 then tell me which device you have so I can get the kernel

Alright so there are 2 options right now.
1. You resign the kernel or wait for me to get on a windows computer so I can resign it.
2. You unlock your bootloader.
If you choose option 1 then and you want to try then here's the link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/optimus-l9/general/guide-install-custom-roms-locked-t3249828
And here's the link to the kernel
http://d-h.st/pdM
1. Follow the manual instructions in the post except just do it for the boot.img and flash that instead.
"fastboot flash boot boot_bumped.img"
If you choose option 2 then here's a link with instructions. (My phone is perma-locked so I never got to try this)

I edited the flash_all.bat script and removed the "-w" flag. I disabled all modules on magisk, and had got the phone to bootloader mode. I then ran the flash_all.bat script, and then for some reason the bootloader flashing failed. My phone now won't turn on and is a complete black screen. I need some major help here.
EDIT: My PC cannot see it on EITHER ADB or Fastboot devices
Can you boot manually into bootloader mode?
Cheers

No I can't. Holding power and volume down gets me nothing.

How long are you holding it? I have found that it takes a *really long time* (like, a full minute) of holding that power button to get any response. But if still nothing, "black screen with no response" does sound like the "bad bootloader" brick. :x Might be fixable under warranty, I'm not sure.
.......I'm getting a feeling that I did the wrong device's bootloader and it failed. Now it's stuck....

Did you have the A13 bootloader flashed to both slots before trying to update today?
Maybe try the phone support? Flash a rom to Sd card even?

Yes I did. OK...so I screwed up HARD and I think I might have did the Pixel 5's bootloader, or at least it tried. It just said failed and that was it. Now I'm just getting a black screen.
Both slots have the September 2022 A13 bootloader. I was on September 2022 update. Is there anyway to get to the other slot and at least get bootloader from there??

Have you tried to see if Android Flash Tool will recognize your phone?

May want to try to RMA it. Can't think of anything else. Sounds like it's pretty dead if it's not turning on and not recognizing anything.
What hurts hard is that I've taken exceptional care of this, like battery was still at 100%. Ugghh. Traded in my 4a 5G for this at launch.
Unfortunately , if you flash bootloader from another model.. you're f***d...
RMA only option

Well if you're willing I'm trying to start a small team for testing existing methods to unbricking.
I've come to the conclusion that all you need to talk to the phone is a USB c to 2.0 cable then hold vol up/dwn. This exposes the bootROM output and messages from the phone in serial output on COMM5, and if you're on Unix then it's on ttyACM0. Interestingly enough it's in Exynos downloading mode. The computer gives us the USB descriptor and a bulk in and bulk out endpoint.
I believe Exynos uses Syn/Ack/Dwn/Up
So an update, I took it today to a UBreakIFix location since here in Canada they're an authorized repair place. I fortunately still had 2 weeks warranty on it (of a year) so the repair is supposedly covered (they emailed Google and got authorization on it). After doing the diagnosis, they said the issue is with the motherboard or something (I'm assuming it flashed the wrong thing and bricked) so they had to replace it. They have the part in stock so I'm getting the phone back tomorrow. Hoping this gets everything back in place and repair holds up. Nothing was wrong with it otherwise, just hope their repair handiwork is good and all the pieces are placed correctly. I did lose all my data and messages though as I had been choosing not to save a number of things to my Google account (I had it on pause) so it will take quite a bit of time to just get it back to the way I like it. Also hoping that they don't then also prevent the bootloader from being unlocked, which I've read has happened after Google RMA's your device.
Thank you everyone. And @NonStickAtom785 , hope for all the best in your testing into unbricking methods and look forward to having you share your findings, in case for whatever reason others or hopefully NOT me runs into that situation.
