[Vince] Which is the best hardware parts for this device? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus Questions & Answers

As some of you know, my vince got shattered and I'm going to replace the display & touchscreen, I was also thinking to switch my earpiece too becouse I damaged it somehow.
So the question is "Which is the best hardware parts for this device?"
By that I mean which of the many displays vince has is the "best" one, basically one that does what a display is made to do, WORK
Is it the novatek one? or the tianma one with no screen-retention s****. I need an answer as quick as possible so I can switch my device's display, thanks by now

How to recognize Original LCD Screen on eBay. I despise fakes

Hi,
Just like in subject, I need to replace my Touch screen in Sprint HTC Touch Pro, but after reading stories of people that were trying to replace the touch panel only, decided to change the LCD screen as well to simplify instalation.
Found many sellers on eBay, but how can I tell which one is OEM Original and not some chinese fake?
Has anybody purchased from any of them and can recommend/verify screen being identical to the one in their phone? And I mean, every resistor was identical etc... Can you tell which one is original looking at their pics?

I have a HTC touch pro that got wet - it flashes and boots, just never ran stable again.
Great for parts - cheap!!

[Q] Lost Super Amoled after replacing screen ?!

Hi,
A friend of mine currently replaced her I9300 screen after she cracked it. But I noticed that the phone screen isn't Super Amoled anymore
I compared her S3 Display to mine and mine clearly have BETTER display quality!
Now, since I wrongly flashed N7100 Kernel onto mine and froze the Touch Module; I need a whole new screen assembly since I9300 LCD and Touch Digitizer seems to be HARD to dissociate
My question now is:
Will screen replacement makes mine lose the Super Amoled feature like my friend's one ?
Do I need a specific screen assembly ? If so, How do I identify this before buying it ?
Thank you in advance.
I think that your friend has got a lower quality replacement display. If you want to replace your screen, you should look not for the cheapest one or atleast do some research (check that display you will buy is original)

But HOW do I tell whether it's genuine (original if you want) or replicate (fake) ?
And FYI, she bought it for $100, isn't that enough to pay a genuine one ?
No, that isn't a genuine screen assembly. Buy it from a reputable retailer -if you can find one, not an ebay or amazon reseller.

But it's really HARD to find SAMSUNG Retellers here in The Bronx
Thank you anyway.
Just passing by... can't you just reflash your phone with correct kernel?

Already discussed :good:
There's NO miracle for this issue other than replacing the Screen (LCD + Touch Digitizer).
I understood WHY it burned the Touch Module lol N7100 uses bigger screen than I9300, so it pushes more power to the screen, unfortunately I9300 hardwares cannot hold such power. Maybe that's WHY N7100 have 1,6Ghz CPU while I9300 have 1,4Ghz (even if it's about the same hardware); also the battery voltage: N7100 uses genuinely 2600mAh while I9300 uses 2100mAh.
Anyway, I sold the device (as it was) now moving to something new (maybe another S3).

[Q]Price for new screen glass

accidently dropped my phone today and got cracks on screen(screen broke along with tempered glass).i checked every other hardware and every corner of display and it is working well.
it seems only the top glass(protection one)has broken.what is the cost of replacement of the glass only?or will i get a complete replacement of my display?
i am from india.
Well as you know outer glass and display are fused together so its so hard to separate these two. If you find only glass side then its good, go to expert in displays amd he will fix it. If not!, you may end up getting new set of display from service center. Last time I asked in mi service center about cost they said it will Roughly costs only 3000Rs.
Now the waring part!
If you use custom roms on this rn3, you may come up with some issues with new display. Because xiaomi used many different parts in rn3 like fingerprint sensor goodix and fpc. This same case is with display, as far know xiaomi used 5 different display models in rn3. Some kernel features like double tap to wake works with only old models of rn3. Soooo...... I think you understand my point what I am trying to say

Check if screen replacement is authentic OEM part or not

Hi guys,
My screen cracked yesterday and I went to a repair shop to get the screen replaced. I have the phone now and the screen looks OK and I can't really see any issues with it. But I read everywhere on how common it is that the replacement screen is not an original one, that it is a copy or something like that. I asked the repair shop if the screen was original and they said yes, but I thought, why would they say no?
How can I really check that the screen is a OEM, without me having to take the screen apart again. Is there some kind of software on Android or PC that can detect and read what kind of display it is, or how should I do?
I downloaded CPU-Z and other similar apps that gives you all kind of device information and in there they all say that it is a original display with the same specs as it should be. But i'm thinking that that information probably is just hardcoded information, and it doesn't really communicate with the display in realtime, if you understand what I mean.
Anyhow, how do you suggest that I confirm this? The price was not too cheap or so, the screen+repair cost me $260.
Thank you!

What other OLED displays for this exact same dimensions would there be?
Are you afraid it's an LCD display or something?
You are right that apps tell you what the display SHOULD be, based on the model number.
But if it's an OLED display, I don't see how it's not an LG V30. Some other manufacturer would have to be making OLED displays in the first place, and then cutting them to to fit the V30. I guess they could do that, but seems strange.

Yes, I'm sure that the new screen is built for V30, but maybe it is a lower quality screen. That's my main concern.

You're ignoring my question. Who would manufacture such an OLED display that would exactly for the LG v30?
As long as you're sure it's not some crappy off brand LCD display, it almost has to be original LG OELD display. Or do you not understand?
Do you think they put in a Samsung OLED display?

I did encounter a fake xiaomi mi2 replacement display, but it was an lcd one (and the problem was the cheap plastic cover instead of glass). With oled - not so likely.

Sorry, did not see your edit. No I understand that. Maybe a dumb question, but how do I know that it isn't a LCD display? Would I have noticed it right away?
I tried some UHD videos on youtube to see how the black level is and it was really great. Why I ask, is that I called a certified official LG repair shop and explained this to them as well. And he said that even if the screen looks OK it could still be a fake one.
That's where I got confused and wasn't really sure about this. Maybe he just wanted me to buy it from them instead, not sure.

I think the LG shop was speaking in general, but his answer would apply to older LG phones that used LCD display. There are tons of LCD manufacturers who would supply off brand parts for LG phones.
There are not many OLED display manufacturers. LG and Samsung are the main ones.

Screen Replacement - no amoled to find, only lcd

Hello, there.
Unfortunately, I've dropped my mi mix 3 and I was looking to a new screen.
Looking around I've found many offers with a wide range of prices.
The question is that the Mi Mix 3 feature a Samsung Amoled 6.39 inch but it is impossible to find, everywhere I'm finding an LCD replacement. Can someone help me out?
Plus, I was a bit worried about the screen replacement procedure but then I saw this video which takes a totally different approach and made the whole thing much easier...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wl2aK5wCBAI
Still, I can't find the Amoled version anywhere but only the LCD version...
Cheers

Goodluck https://www.witrigs.com/oem-screen-replacement-with-frame-for-xiaomi-mi-mix-3-black
Hi, i searched on aliexpress, there are lots of options but it is $100+, so in my case I ordered 6.39 lcd display, and it looks better than other analogs, costs 45 usd but it has a special plastic spacer under the display, so it sticks up a bit more, looks fine... On aliexpressI think itis 3 options lcd, led and amoled... No clue what is the one in middle. I bought mine from chila lcd seller
Upd: I think 100+ is for original there, not 'oem', but not sure
I try to order one (100+$) but the quality was awefull. some part of the screen was unreponsive.
I bought one from second hand market. Under warranty and never opened for -300$
I had the same problem, dropped my phone and screen replaced with original. Contact with this adress maybe you can order original one. Genpa is authorized service in Türkiye for Xiaomi.

I had a honor 8 before, I'd say I bought 6-8 screens for it and never found a good one

Where do you find LCD? I can't even Find it. (I hate amoled with their burn in issues. I love lcd)
Any existing Mix 3 users that had to replace the screen in the past?
Which one did you buy and that you are satisfied with it?
Honestly I don't know which one to look at (primarily I am looking on ebay). There are some that the title say it's amoled, but I am not sure.
Any advice?
I bought the original amoled screen in aliexpress for 80€.
Happy with it!
