Hi there,
I have a Redmi Note 4 here. The device is "not" booting correctly. After switching on the screen does not show the MI logo. The screen is working and the background light is definitely switched on. I already replaced the screen (with digitizer) - same issue as before.
Device can be detected with ADB and/or FASTBOOT.
Reaching out for a second opinion. Could this be a hardware problem and how can I detect the issue? Maybe a chip died?
Update: I left the device without battery over night and pressed the power button for 30 sec. Reconnecting the battery now and switched on: the device vibrates, backlight is on - devices switches off after 10..20 sec. No ADB, no FASTBOOT.

How did your phone end up in that situation. Did it happen automatically or you were trying to something. And if it is being detected by pc what is showing?

The earphone jack didn't work so I had open it. After re-assembly the screen was black upon boot as described - I intially thought the display died (since not even the MI logo showed up - and replaced it - no change.
The phone is neither detected by ADB nor by FASTBOOT now. Upon connecting to the PCs USB-port my Linux launches an MTP dialog but the file list is empty.
First time this happens to me and I've dealt with >20 devices already. Spare parts carrying brick now I guess...

Try to flash in edl mode.
Disconnect the battery, while shorting the edl pins (on the bottom left side of pcb), connect usb. After u see 9008 mode in device manager, disconnect the short. Then flash latest global fastboot rom using Xiaomi flash tool. After flash, connect battery and try to boot.
Btw while replacing the headphone jack r u sure u didnt damage any other components? Coz its quite easy to destroy other components if u apply excessive heat.

Connect to pc with usb cable and wait until battery fully discharged. And recharge it for 3 hours. and press power buton for 20-25 second it will open.
What does the windows device manager say when your phone is connected to the pc? If it has something like "900E" mode you need this http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/unbrick-rn3-hs-usb-900e-edl-cable-100-t3447928 . This helped me out as my phone was dead. It only works when your battery is not completely discharged.
If you have "9008" mode in device manager, you are really in the EDL mode. So it is no problem to flash an appropriate fastboot rom with mi flash tool. Maybe you need the latest beta from mi flash tool though.

happend to me after i tried to unlock my bootloader. I put a modified bootloader to the rom that i wanted to flash. After that my phone was dead, had only HS USB 900E in device manager
Yeah i know that can happen on locked BL, but I thought on unlocked
So i made this DIY Deep Flash Cable using the copper wire method . First it connects. Once it connected as 8000 now its 900E .
When i install drivers it basically gives me error 10 Device Cannot Start.
BTW i have the blinking red light of death.
Any help?
Name your phone??!!
---------- Post added at 12:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:24 PM ----------
Its not blinking red light of death. Its edl mode.
Just download the latest fastboot rom of latest miui version of you are using redmi note 3 from any site and make sure it is of .tgz extension and extract the file.
Disable device signature enforcement in your computer and connect the phone with your computer.
Open device manager on your computer and under ports section check if your phone is getting detected as 900E or something like that.
Download and install mi flash app from any site.
Now run the mi flash application and now connect your phone to the computer. After 10 seconds press the refresh button. Your phone would be seen as written 'comp' or 'com' on the mi flash app. Now from there browse to the folder where you extracted the fastboot rom and in the extracted files there would be a folder named image, just select that folder and press ok. Now click on flash.
Voila!! Your phone is now back.

Nope , should i try testpoint?
your phone is redmi note 3 right? then try to reboot your phone in fastboot mode by holding volume down + power key untill it gives you the image of the mi bunny screwing with android bot. if this mode is opening then ur phone can be revive again dead sure. but if its blinking you have to make sure its in edl mode. just download adb driver from google search for your phone install it install your phones driver and connect it to the pc. if there is a device showing qloader 9008 something in device manager then your phone is alive and you can recover it by flashing the latest miui rom either global or developer via mi flash tool. your phone will be as good as new. just check it and msg if your phone is showing such indication i will help you to revive it.
No fastboot mode , no recovery , no MI logo

I have also experiencing this problem. Back in MIUI 8, when I'm totally running out of battery, the phone won't charge or getting into any mode
Try to
"Hold Vol- + Connect the phone to PC USB Slot"
Let me know if it works
Try TWRP flashing
As you said that the mi flash tool is detecting your phone so try flashing the twrp recovery by the edl method and then you can flash the rom
Refer this link for Flashing TWRP
youtu.be/rCONN1_IPuU(please add https:// before the link )
And after flashing process is done and of you are unable to access the internal storage then complete wipe the internal storage and you are good to go
Just disconnect battery, connect EDL cable (deep flash cable with pressed button), run MiFlash and flash the phone.
Hey, i have a Xiaomi Note 3 Pro Kenzo and one day he just turned off and never went back again. When i plug it on pc, it just shows black screen, flashes the red light multiple times and it's recognized as Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 900E.
I've already searched online and seems that my phone is stuck on EDL mode, so I made it go to the real EDL mode that allows me to flash it a new rom. I managed to make my pc recognize as Qualcomm 9008.
Beeing that, I tried to flash a rom but at the mi flash 20160330 it gets stuck on: "send nop command" forever and at the mi flash 2170425 it gets the error : "<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?><data><log value="init storage:fail " /></data> "
I've got another redmi note 3 pro, and I can flash it, so I don't there's any problem with my computer, but the info is:
Windows 10 Pro 64x

I have faced this too ,3 months ago , you just need to open the case and then remove the unplug the battery cable then flash the fastboot ROM ,yes the PC will give give enough power to flash ,you must not replug the battery while flashing ,now when the flash is don't unplug the USB cable and put it in charger by hitting power button for 8 secs it will not charge then immediately replug the the battery cable then again press the power button for 8 sec till it reboots ,boom your system will boot

It's already in EDL 9008 mode, I used the test point. Don't know if the DFC will do anything different, but will try it anyway if the way Aditya told me don't work
I should explain you fully
1)removing battery will keep the phone in edl mode but it will solve your error of mi flash is mi flash will successfully flash the fastboot ROM ,remember you need to first remove the battery cable then insert phone ,no light will blink but it will be recognized as qsp loader port in your PC ,don't worry
2) after successfully completing the first step flash the complete fastboot ROM ,it should go success
3)now don't replug the battery cable now ,do nothing ,just insert cherger and press power button as long as the screen don't turn on ,when it will turn on the battery bar wouldn't go up, then without removing the charger cable from phone ,insert battery, you will see that battery is still not charging, nothing to worry this was just to turn the display on ,now again press the power button for 10 to 14 sec so that the device reboot and boom your phone will start charging and after you can successfully boot into system and use your phone.
4)this is if you still cannot successfully flash using mi flash tool just unplug all a the cable which you see after opening back case don't worry you just have to open the cables which you see ,you don't have to unplug those cables in which you have to open screws etc .
Hope this will help you

Already tried, didn't work, but thx anyways man
Just plug it in to a wall charger. I had the same issue even after edl flash miui rom but charging it fixed my problem. Follow these steps.
1- plug it in
2- ignore the red led blinking
3- wait for 5 min.
4- it will boot.
5- if doesn't, I'm sorry
Update: I was able to resolve my issue and bring my cell phone back to life using "HYDRA EDL CABLE - V2". The EDL cable puts the Qualcomm devices in EDL mode, so that they can be flashed again using MSM tool.
-------
Recently, I was flashing stock Oxygen OS 11 firmware for my OnePlus 9r using MSM Tool. The flashing was successful (Download complete status in MSM) but the device did not boot automatically upon completion. Since then, it has been dead. I can not boot it up, enter recovery, enter fastboot or enter EDL mode. It does not even show charging signs or anything. There are no vibrations. In short, it is completely DEAD. I tried to enter EDL mode with volume buttons, but the device is not detected in device manager anymore. I do have proper Qualcomm Drivers installed.
Since I can not enter EDL mode using Volume Button combination, is there any way I can revive my device. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you so much.
@ThePGs
I'm glad you got it resolved.
But I wanted to understand what is special about this cable, does it force the cell phone to enter EDL mode?

Yes, the cable has a button attached to it, when we press it, it creates a short-circuit, just like when we open a device and short it using test-points to enter EDL mode.
Reddit user jabashque1 explained it in these words:
You installed the wrong LineageOS OTA, which wrote the wrong xbl and xbl_config image, and now your phone aborts booting when it's at the xbl stage because it detects the wrong RAM type. You can't boot into EDL mode with holding vol up + vol down and plugging your phone into your computer because the RAM type check happens before the logic for detecting whether you're holding those buttons down for EDL.
However, the logic for detecting the deep flash cable happens before the logic for detecting RAM type.
