Mi A3 auto rotation - Xiaomi Mi A3 Questions & Answers

I came from Google Pixel and it's just me that auto rotation is very sensitive?
Tilting fast the phone will change from Potrait to landscape quickly then return to Potrait. YouTube app for example.
How to calibrate the sensor? Some people from OnePlus forum suggest to dial *#808* to calibrating which is doesn't work on this phone.

Try * # * # 6484 # * # * but there is hardly any calibration there. But if there is, it is unlikely that this contributes to the behavior of the coup. On Pixels, everything works on a more advanced level)

It's more like sensor test than calibration.
Is there any apps that can modify the sensitivity of auto rotation?
Or this is more like ROM level file editing?

Look in the play market. But most likely, sensitivity will not fix it. Need to edit system files

Almost a year ago but check this :
Dial *#*#64663#*#*
There you can do some calibrations.
I did it on mine and it seem to do the trick altho is said it failed/hanged after calibrating the accelometer.

I just tried the sensor test using the dial code..proximity sensor shows 0..but as soon as i put my palm about an inch from the sensor..the whole screen changes to green, phone vibrates and prox sensor value shows 1...i also noticed that the light sensor value changes as i am moving my palm to and away from the light sensor.
Anyway..if you are having a phone call and when u put the phone towards your ears..the screen goes blank..that shows prox sensor is working.

@ iznee Thank you for your reply.
In my case, unfortunately, does not the value 0. The screen is not green.
This is the Senor does not work, I noticed on the phone. The display stays on constantly.
Thanks again
Try settings/Call/and check the box next to "Turn on proximity sensor".

Yes, switched on, is. I'm stumped.
Check the type of case you are using. I had an issue where I was face dialing while on the phone and it turned out that my case was covering the sensor. On the xperia it is on the front by the n in ericsson

light sensor

hi all, I noticed that light sensor doesnt work properly, when I go from dark to light area, the brightness increases but when I go from light to dark area the brightness wont decrease, on honeycomb it worked properly, anybody else experiences this problem?
Same here, it goes bright but does not decrease.
I use the app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rubberbigpepper.DisplayBrightness&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsInJ1YmJlcmJpZ3BlcHBlci5EaXNwbGF5QnJpZ2h0bmVzcyJd
make an invisible slider on the edge of screen to adjust brightness.
is there any way to make it work properly?
Don't think so. Its pretty much unusable now.

There are lots of negative comments about light sensor, but i have to say it works well to me on ICS. Could be possibly massive amount of defected devices.
Lightsensor doesn't work for me either - too bad, hope it will be corrected.
Perhaps it's because I'm running ICS "General Channel".

Do the sensor dim the light in the same session for you?
Here it turns up the light but not down again.

Same here, adjusting upwards works fine, but it doesn't adjust downwards in low light conditions.
I have tried two apps that turns the light down again, custom auto brightness and lux auto brightness.
One small problem. The pad will crash on pattern unlock after sleep. I Also the light sensor will not work s after wake up sometimes.

I'm guessing no one has had any luck with this issue but I figure I'd necro the thread anyways. My light sensor sucks also. I used 'Android Sensor Box' to get the values coming out of the sensor. It only displays either 40 lux or 280 lux which is obviously not right. This is on Cyanogen 9, stock t-mobile ICS and the rooted international gingerbread(can't remember which one exactly).
So I was wondering if anyone who owns one of these has ever gotten a sensor value that makes any sense.
thanks
nope,
I use instead display brightness https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rubberbigpepper.DisplayBrightness&hl=no
create an invisible brightness slider on theedge of the screen.
Try using custom auto brightness with the auto brightness on (there's a setting in that app that disabled the system auto brightness at screen on. Turn it off).
The original kernel only recognized 3 light levels. If you use bart's kernel it will recognize 6 levels.
Yes, I think there's a software problem because both app (lux and cua) crash hard in HMP, but I don't think fixing it is a priority.

How to use custom auto brightness without crashing the tablet.
There are 2 options that should be followed, other settings can be adjusted to your liking.
1. In preferences, Check Use pulsed sensor mode. Basically this option will make the app read the sensor itself instead of listening the sensor value given from the system.
2. In advanced preferences, set the sensor update speed to either half sec or 1 sec. I tried normal, but the app won't read the sensor value, so probably the slow normal maximum setting only works if you get the sensor value from the system.
You can set disable system auto brightness. I recommend it before because the setting was a "hack" which was making the system read the brightness value thus the app can get that value. Right now it's recommended that you check the disable system auto brightness.

Light sensor in mini pro - what the hell is this?

can anyone tell me what the duck is that thing installed in my mini pro that is supposed to be a light sensor? it does control the brightness level depending on ambient light, but it doesn't work with apps that allow you to change brightness according to your own rules. I've tried Lux Auto Brightness and it acts as if the phone didn't have any light sensor, but when I go to service menu and test the sensor, it does react. so what's going on there?
Sloppy implementation, I guess.
Why are you trying to use third-party software for it?
Most of 3rd party test service shows LIGHT SENSOR,the mini pro have AMBIENT LIGHT SENSOR.Both act same, but different driver and name

I have a feeling that Lux does better job (even though I set it to measure light via front cam).

Does auto rotation work in the latest update???

Can anyone let me know please?.
I think so. Before I tried to install, I was searching for some info's on youtube, and I saw a video ( brazillian channel, Tecmundo, Video link ) where they tested on a fiew notebooks, one has a gyroscope sensor, and it worked.
Okay, the video is about the Android 86x, not the Remix OS itself. But it might work... there are two options to enable/disable the rotating screen ( "Screen" and "Acessibility" settings). But your device need to have the sensor.
Anyway, its an alpha release. We need to test everything for them. Try it and tell us, including your device model!

260202 build on surface pro 3. Rotation not working, or at least i didnt get it to work.
Surface pro 2 here no rotation on RemixOS. Worked x86 android lollipop

Transformer Book T200TA, no rotation!
Using any APK in PlayStore does not assist in the task either... must me hard-coded to landscape?
PhoenixOS will allow it though as auto-detect (if Gyro detected) or even through software if not detected otherwise...
Thinkpad 8, no rotation!
But i install android-x86 6.0.1 r10 it working
Rotation will never work on laptop that does not support from windows it as it does not have a sensor built in.
Autorotation works in the Alpha and the Beta as long as your sensor is supported - download a sensor app like Z - device test and check the accelerometer.
The 'issue' is that by default landscape is forced as the typical device is expected to be a PC that a doesn't typically/easily rotate. As it is forced, rotation apps that try and change it won't work. There is a property in build.prop that can change this, so that RemixOS performs more touchscreen tablet like than PC/laptop, ro.remixos.box=true.
I've mentioned that and other prop in this thread.
I also have Tincore keymapper working I believe, but haven't too much experience in it's use so can't say much on it - I'll detail the procedure in due course...
No rotation on Asus VivoTab 8 M81C (or GPS or Bluetooth)

The above mentioned laptops do in fact have accelerometers to change screen orientation in windows.
I have a Surface Pro 3 that suffers from no rotation in Remix as well. Hopefully in future builds it's resolved, it would be a matter of including the hardware support for a few different accelerometers in the build.

Hi friend, please tell me how you got?
I changed the build.prop as suggested but it didnt work, although it unlocked some additional settings. I downloaded the z-device test app and saw that the accelerometer was working but the gyroscope was not. Could it be that the os is looking for gyro data and not the accelerometer data, and if so, is there a way to point the os to the right sensor?

I've set
ro.remixos.box=false
in build.prop
and turned off "always keep apps in landscape mode" in experimental settings.
After that autorotation started working on my Samsung XE700T.
Launcher doesn't seem to work correctly with this feature, app icons mess every time orientation is changed.
Still trying to get auto rotation working on the surface pro 2. I tried changing settings in build.prop, but no luck there. Anyone have a suggestion?
I had success on the latest marshmallow release using the Rotation Control app from the Play Store. The ro.remixos.box prop setting was already false so I just had to turn the setting to "Always keep apps in landscape mode" off to allow portrait before using Rotation Control. (At least I think I had to adjust that setting first. It's under Remix OS Options in the Settings menu if you're having trouble finding it). Rotation Control basically just allows me to force portrait mode, which is better than nothing I guess. I'm not sure how one would go about getting auto-rotation to work. I'm using a Surface Pro 3. While Z-Device Test does indicate that there is both an accelerometer and gyroscope, they don't register any activity; so I wonder if support for those sensors is just poor or something.

thank you so much . I have been looking for solutions for many ddays to activate screen rotation on my dell 5378 with touch screen. That app is perfect:good:
Sine there are no accelerometers on a laptop, is there a way to do it manually?

Question Proximity and light sensor problem

I just noticed that i have an error in proximity during call and auto brightness. How do i fix it?
can somebody confirmed if theirs are working on one ui 4.1?
I'm using UI 4.0 haven't noticed anything like that. It uses ambient light sensor as it lacks proximity.
Check if hardware is working fine using CPU Z see tsl sensor lux value.

Also I cant seem to find that tsl sensor lux value on CPU-Z
Yes, mine is still intact. Did you check sensors tab?
