I have downloaded the SMS fix so that it recognises the names of messages which works ok, but i cannot send messages to anyone without knowing their number. In my sms contacts list there are no names etc. I have imported my contact details from the SIM with appears properly in the phone contacts box, buti cannot use the same contact details to send SMS's.
Also, i am trying to set up an internet connection using a normal ISP through a standard GSM phone call. I do not pay for GPRS connections cos its so expensive, but I do have data calls enabled on my account with T-mobile. I have made data calls before using a nokia 7650 as a modem, but i cannot use the XDA to make a GSM data call to the same ISP. Also, it seems to send me odd network SMS's saying 'please delete' every time i try to connet to the ISP. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Is there anyone who is working on using a app to make all sms messages and data while on Wifi at home or work. I live in a town with not so great signal so im always on wifi but i still need signal to send and recieve messages calls.
I was wondering if it was possible to do this with a app or mod the rom to function this way.
That way i may also end the Radio Interference Shortage i see all to much do to from what i can figure is the phone bouncing on and off sprints network to roaming so often. ( seems to be worse on wifi.)
If you use the Google voice integration, it only sends over data connection.
Thanks for the info i just was reading about that. But looks like the only option.

personally, i have been using google voice for two years now and it was worked very well. when i have low cell signal but have good wifi or 4g, i open up the app and text.
if i have low wifi/4g signal but good cell signal, i text from the built in message app using SMS.
as a possible alternative, i've seen a new app being promoted, DeskSMS, from koush (ROM Manager developer). i haven't used it personally, but the main idea is to congregate all your text messages into one location so you can access from all devices. if you want to research more on DeskSMS, there is a lifehacker article reviewing it, here is a lifehacker article on it and the android market page.
edit: an airave is definitely a decent alternative if you're on sprint and need better service on one specific location. the OP posted his whole town has signal issues both at his work and at home and specifically questioned any apps be available to help handle better sms communication. an airave could solve your signal issues at home and at work, but is location dependent. i was able to get an airave from sprint for my home location at no charge due to our long tenure as a sprint customer.
hope that helps!
sounds like you may want to look into getting an airave, its a device that you hook up to your home internet that broadcasts service up to 1000ft from the unit..
Kind of like a wifi router but for EVDO
Hi All,
I've updated my Titan to TANGO and new firmware (and radio fw), but I have the same problem I had with Mango:
Data (internet/mail/tethering (shared internet connection) does NOT work if a phone call is on!
IE: I used tethering with my PC, if a phone call come no data connection, when I closed the call data connection restart!
This happens with EDGE and most of the times even in HSDPA... with my previous HD2 (WP6.5) I could use interner with my PC (in tethering) having a call in the same time even with EDGE...
Is this happenng to someone else?
PS: I inserted manually APN to be sure it is correct... no changes
BYE
I am having the same thing happen to, when browsing the web I cannot receive phone call.
Stock rom: OS-7.10.8107.79

Radio-16.23.06.10_16.32.00.23U
Boot loader-2.5.160015.3(137079)
On which roms are you guys? Stock or customs?

Hi have the opposite problem:
when browsing the web I receive a phone-call, but if I answer internet stops (under EDGE, HSDPA...) and restarts when I finisch the call
It is not possible to have both data and voice in EDGE mode. That's the limitation of GSM radio on that mode.
You need to be in 3G mode in order to do so. Old WM phones can automatically disconnection data if there is call come in and reconnect after you handup.

I preferred your your problem, (although I don't think it's a problem) I don't mine receiving phone call and losing data.

No, on my Dell Venue Pro under EDGE I can surfing web and syncronize email while I'm calling!
I do it, but I don't with my Titan
After 1000 tests with 4 sim I can say:
- on my Titan I can call and have connection only under HSDPA if I manually set APN
- on other devices (Dell Venue Pro with WP7.5 Tango + HD2 WM6.5) I can call and surf the web with EDGE 3G HSDPA
is it only on my device?
I know that EDGE is not very often present, but it happens in Italy... and in some places where I work!
PLS, if someone could make a test... thanks in advance

I don't know how your DVP does it but do a search and you will learn that it is not possible for EDGE connection to serve both voice and data. It could be that you are really connected to 3G but your DVP is reporting EDGE. Or your DVP has two separate radio, one for data, one for voice.

Thanks for your suggestions!
I searched in the web, and maybe I found out the answer from
http://www.techrepublic.com/forum/q...a-gets-disconnected-when-call-comes-on-mobile :
EDGE (and GPRS) are capable of supporting simultaneous voice and data ONLY if it is a Class C device.
Most phones these days are Class B (such as iPhone).
Class B support voice calls while in data mode (data disconnects when a call comes in) and data is "attached" while the phone is idle. Some Class B devices are configured so that the data takes priority (iPhone). Thus an iPhone will not take a call when an active edge data transfer is ongoing..it goes to voicemail.
Class A devices are either in data mode or voice mode (but never both).
even supported here:
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-10115034-233.html
"GPRS network 130 can be designed to operate in three network operation modes (NOM1, NOM2 and NOM3). A network operation modes of a GPRS network is indicated by a parameter in system information messages transmitted within a cell. The system information messages dictates a MS where to listen for paging messages and how signal towards the network. The network operation mode represents the capabilities of the GPRS network. In a NOM1 network, a MS can receive pages from a circuit switched domain (voice call) when engaged in a data call. The MS can suspend the data call or take both simultaneously, depending on the ability of the MS, In a NOM2 network, a MS may not received pages from a circuit switched domain when engaged in a data call, since the MS is receiving data and is not listening to a paging channel In a NOM3 network, a MS can monitor pages for a circuit switched network while received data and vise versa. "
This means that HTC Titan is not a Class C device...

Your answer here:
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-10115034-233.html
We previously noted that the iPhone may miss calls while sleeping (locked). Some users are now reporting what seems to be a significant issue where their iPhones cannot receive incoming calls while transferring EDGE data. Here, in a nutshell, is what appears to be happening:
The iPhone cannot simultaneously use EDGE and voice services. That is, if you are on a call, you cannot concurrently access EDGE-data functions. In addition, as documented in Knowledge Base article #305711:
"While iPhone is actively transferring data over EDGEâ??downloading a webpage, for exampleâ??you may not be able to receive calls. Incoming calls may go to voicemail."
The "may not be able to receive calls" portion stems from the fact that there are two types of EDGE network types, NOM1 and NOM2. When your iPhone is connected to a NOM1 network, the data transmission will generally be interrupted, and the incoming call allowed to come through. When your iPhone is connected to a NOM2 network, however, the EDGE data transfer process cannot be interrupted, and the call will generally go to voicemail.
Fortunately, there is a way to check whether you are connected to a NOM1 or NOM2 network. First, put your iPhone in field test mode by accessing the Phone application, tapping Keypad, then entering *3001#12345#* and pressing Call.
Tap GPRS Information and look at the entry next to nom. It will be either 1 or 2. If you see a 1, you'll likely be able to receive a call while transferring data. If you see a 2, you likely won't.
Unfortunately, it appears that NOM2 is much more prevalent on AT&T's data network. In fact, we've yet to see our iPhone connect to a NOM1 network. As such, we can't even state with certainty that the iPhone supports NOM1 at all.
"GPRS network 130 can be designed to operate in three network operation modes (NOM1, NOM2 and NOM3). As far as I know, there isn't any class C devices on the market. Maybe your DVP is an exception but I highly doubt it.
Hi all
I have question regarding buying new SIM and data plan.
how much MB have you in one month ? (average)
I understand all calls, SMS, emails are transfered via internet to the watch.
If i replay some SMS on my watch it goes also to my PHONE and from there SMS in sent ?
What about CALLS I have made (which number is shown)
You only use voice, text, and data on the Gear's plan when it's not connected to your phone via BT. If not on BT it has access to Internet and carrier data and uses Internet first unless there's a signal issue where it'll fall back to carrier data. It works just like your phone because it is a phone. When connected via BT calls and texts you create on the Gear are passed through to your phone so that's which plan applies. In that situation the phone's (not the Gear's) phone number is used/displayed. If not connected to BT the Gear's separate phone number is used/displayed and its plan will be charged for voice, text, and (carrier) data.
How much carrier data the Gear uses depends on how often it's not connected to your phone, how often it is connected to the Internet, and which apps you use on it. Streaming Milk in stand alone mode will use a nice chunk of data.
I have a 10MB data plan for my gear. so far i havent gone over it, but havent checked the actual usage. most of the time the gear is connected by BT. usually on the weekends i use it stand alone for texting.
I have a 100 mb data plan.. the maximum I have used in a month is 30 mb
My Gear S uses less than 1MB/mth and my phone about 2. Its rare I am not on WiFi with my phone and I don't stream music or video with my Gear S. I next to never take my phone with me so my Gear S is on data off and on all day long. Email gets forwarded to my watch but without attachments so it takes very little data.
I have 20mb plan and usually with just the remote connectivity i never go over that. And a little tip...have the phone use edge and your battery consumption when remotely connected will almost be like Bluetooth. You don't need 3G speeds for the fowarding of your notifications from your phone.
Hey everybody,
Does anyone know how to disable annoying popup messages related to Mobil Data while connected to WIFI? Here's the background; I used to be with Verizon and was one of the treasured unlimited data participants until they recently decided to once again screw their most loyal customers with increases on costs. I left VZW and went to Straight Talk utilizing the 4G LTE Verizon network. Before under VZW, I don't remember my wife's phone showing a message that she could not browse the internet, send email, etc, unless connected to data with the exception of using WIFI. Well since switching over to ST, I've created Tasker Profiles which simulate Juice Defender and turn off mobile data as soon as it is connected to our home WIFI. About every two minutes it popups a messages saying the following:
Title Splash:
Mobile data
Message Content:
Unless you use WI-FI, you will no linger be able to use the Internet, Email or other apps that require a data connection.
Turn off the mobile data connection?
I've attached a screenshot of the message.
How can I disable to popup? I'm sure there's a way to do if someone can point me in the right direction.... Thanks
I should also clarify that the popup returns regardless if you select Okay or Cancel. I even enable Data and still returns.
I found this thread which apparently the issue seems to be related to apps that turn off data or turn it on using automation.
