As the wireless earphones scene starts to get competitive, companies like Apple and Samsung are launching their version of Bluetooth earphones, complete with a charging case. Among some of the great option on the market right now, Huawei has come out with the Huawei Freebuds 3. This exciting new product has everything you could want from your wireless audio experience, and more. Powered by the Kirin A1 chipset, Huawei aims to build a connected audio life experience.
The HUAWEI FreeBuds 3 are equipped with Bluetooth 5.1 and are powered by the cutting-edge Kirin A1 chipset. The Kirin A1 is the industry’s first BT/BLE dual-mode chip to be verified by Bluetooth 5.1. With this technology, Huawei is able to deliver a highly integrated 3+1 modular architecture. This includes an advanced Bluetooth processing unit, powerful audio processing unit, ultra-low power consumption App processor and a
separate power management unit. All of this comes together to ensuring an efficient and stable connection experience.
While previous wireless headphones were were limited to a single-channel transmission which was split between the two earpieces, Huawei’s self-developed dual-channel synchronous transmission technology fixes this issue. Now left and right pieces have a direct connection to your smartphone, avoiding the need for one earpiece to push audio to the next. This new dual-channel system results in ultra-low audio latency at only 190ms. This is especially important for keeping sound and audio synced during games and movies. This gives the Freebuds 3 an edge over the AirPods, and will make for a better experience overall.
The new HUAWEI FreeBuds 3 aims to provide you with 20 hours of battery life by including their charging case. While the actual earphones have a battery life of four hours, the included case can charge your Freebuds up to 4 times before your case runs out of juice. When it does, you can charge your Freebuds case via the USB-C port, or you can set it on your wireless charger and take advantage of the quick wireless charging feature.
Share your thoughts on the HUAWEI FreeBuds 3 and how you think they'll stack up against the Apple AirPods.
Well, they look the same (ugly that is), so noone will see the difference. Apple users will buy apple, other people will buy what's cheaper, and people who want to hear the sound of music will buy stuff like Bose, Sony, or Sennheiser.
Wonder how the ANC works with them being open, sure hope it's no BS marketing. Last earbuds I used were the bragi dash pro, those still rank first in my book.
I'm using atm Airpods 1. Gen. How do the Freebuds 3 fit compared to Airpods?

I wonder if i need a huaway to use them and the app, or can i simply usd them with any modern android that suports bt 5?

This thread is for the discussion of Freebuds 3 and not politics.
Kindly stay on topic.

Even with all the technical top of the line the sound seems to be a bit of "meeh" in the reviews I've read. I like them but I prefer a model that keeps surroundings to a minimum.

Being a one plus 7t user, i am looking for a good wireless option. I need good calling mic and iPhone type fit. Rubber one's Never stay in my ears . Any suggestions ? Should i look for apple 2nd gen or go for freebuds 3
I am currently looking for cheap aliexpress options . There are too many models too pick and choose from but the video got me thinking about apple like models
I dont like anything thats apple like becauze it doesnt fit in my ear and to be honest they dont look good. So i decided for next models so far:
my first model was qcy qs1, they r cheap and perfect for going in the wireless headphones world. They r great for start and i still have them, using them in the gym.
My second were galaxy buds but i have had some problems with calls with them and that frustrated me a lot so i sold them.
My next one were b&o beoplay e8. I got them for 200€ used and im super happy with them, so for now im using those and qcy.

I tried it and it is effective to a certain degree. Basically, the lower frequencies are cancelled out, but it does not kill the overall noise like in-canal earbuds, because of the open-fit nature. It definitely reduces ambient noises, but you can still hear people next to you talking. Interestingly, their voices are clearer as the ambient noises are cancelled out.
If you need ANC to silence your world, the Freebuds 3 won't make it. But if you do not like the stuffed feeling of earbuds (I know some people does), yet you need to kill some noise, the Freebuds 3 work.

How is the microphone quality in noisy area? Do other people hear your voice clearly on calls in noisy environments?
Hi everyone, how maybe someone already know, with this freebuds it's impossible(at the moment, I hope in a update....) to close a call in progress. anyone know a way to do it without use everytime the phone(or waiting that is the person on the other side to close it)?
Epic Fail. I just got them and the music doesn't auto pause when removed from the ear on Windows 10 laptop. For comparison my $10 AirPods fake earbuds from AliExpress do that.

Anybody facing this error:
With the airpods (+ p30 pro) when listening to music on spotify and scrolling on the facebook, if enter to read a new of any journal, when i press the back to back again to facebook after reading the new, the music stops? Every time.
I just bought those and i like them very much.
I am not a Huawei phone user, I have a Pixel 3 XL and I was looking for some good on ear buds. I must say that I am a little bit angry for Huawei making some features exclusively for their phones (not even all their phones) like wearing detection and autopause. I understand that that the pop up - fast connect feature depends on the software of the phone, but the wearing detection they can make it available for everyone with the AI app. In the end, I paid the same amount of money for the buds.
Hi, i have freebuds 3 on galaxy note 10 plus. Is there any way to enable pause while taking out one of the buds. Thanks

Can somebody recommend a stereo bluetooth headset for the HD which has a 3.5 mm jack to use your own headphones?
Thx
I'm confused by this - Why would you need a 3.5mm jack if they're bluetooth??
I use the Motorola S9 bluetooth headset and it works perfectly - I also have iTech blueband ones, but not tried those as yet (no need to really)
I tried my sony wired phones last night watching a movie on it and they work perfectly as well (first time I tried the 3.5mm jack output)
I use the Sony DS980, and the sound is awesome. Its got a mic on it, as well as an OLED console display that lets you access your phone book, make calls, displays song title, etc.. but check it out on youtube.
I've got the Motorola S9 as well and can't recommend it.. the sound, the build quality, the features, battery life -- all pretty poor.

It's a simple explanation: I don't want to have to take it out of my pocket when I'm listening to music or taking a phone call and I want to use my own Sennheiser earphones.

STILL not with you on this dude - they're either wired OR bluetooth, certainly the way I interpret it (unless you mean a dongle of some description???)
Is there some kind of product out there that allows you to 'piggy back' into and use regular wired headphones into them or something??
I wouldn't dispute that the Sony's are way better than the motorola - I can't use earbud phones though [at all!] otherwise I'd love to give them a try - and yes, now you mention it the battery life really does suck too - I use mine only ever in the gym though so they're fine for a couple of hours at a time

I have tried both the SE HBH-DS205 (your bottom picture) and the Sony DRC-BT15 (your top picture). I think that the SE version has nice sound (good bass and highs, even without Audio Booster in stock Audio Manager), but it has no playback controls, so the phone willl need to come out of you pocket sometimes.
The Sony version has playback controls, but it is very thick and the sound was a bit "tinnier" to my ear.
With both of these units, I had issues with swistching between calls and music. Sometimes the switch back to music works, sometimes it doesn't and the music comes out through the handset speaker at full volume (much to the chagrin of NYC subway riders around me). I have read in these forums that disabling or adjusting the min/max BT bitpool can alleve these problems, but I like my bitpool high for the sound and am tooo lazy to fiddle around with min/max settings, sooo...
I just use Ultimate Ears Super.fi 4vi, a wired set with a very lightweight profile, a mic and (most importantly) the best sound (to my ears) out there for a 2-in-1 headset.

Then just get Blutooth headphones - like the motorola S9. You can take calls, listen to music, skip tracks etc. Most ones allow that.
The best
Sony Ericsson HBH-DS200, for me the best.
sk801, is it possible to use the Sony BT dongle to control the HD, while using your Superfi connected to the HD by the 3.5mm port (wired) for earbud sound?
Also, I assume your 4 vi control/mic is working on the HD? What controls does it have aside from call pickup/end?
perhaps stupid question, im looking for a stereo BT device and those sony ones look quite nice BUT do they work to skip tracks while you're playing music on the htc player and the pda has the screen off???
I have Motorola Pilot
MOTOROLA SOUND PILOT S705,
...Remote Control...Play, Pause, Volume And Track Control. Ability to take calls in mid music,3.5mm Headset Included... Or Use Your Own, Extended Range...Up To 330 ft., FM Radio, Wear Comfortably...Shirt Clip And Neck Strap Included, Caller ID And FM Station Display,Talk/Music Time...Up To 7hrs. Standby Time Up To 3 Days
I my case I am using it with my own Sony MDR-NX2 that comes with a convenient neck-strap, so I hang the bluetooth there, they are really comfortable, the sound is very good, you can lock the buttons, and you can find both things on ebay. I used to have and HTC advantage so it was very bulky to use it as phone, so these both products made my life easier, and now with my htc touch HD I am using them too, because I don't like the wires and the headset that comes with it. on the other hand you can use also the bluetooth with regular speakers if you own ones to streem and answer your calls from it.
the sony 980 doesn't work very well? both of you get the same results? i was thinking of buying that... if you could explain then it would be greatful thanks!
What do you guys thing about the new Sony HBH-IS800? You think they will be worth it? I mean will I be able to skip tracks with them?
Here a litte picture of the earphones:
Definitely thinking about buying them!
Ascenca
I bought a Samsung SBH650 headset BT kit for 49 euros, just wonderful with the HD ! And there's a 3.5mm jack to plug your own earphones.
You can try Jabra BT3030. It has 3.5 connector and suberb design. Quality of sound is no so perfect if you compare to wired connection, but this good compromiss between a player/phone management comfort and sound quality.

I love it every day [email protected]!
Hi,
as you noticed from the signature, after few months of happy use of the Shure Se-110 i got (thanks Pere Noel!) a pair of...
WESTONE3
The problem: my vocabulary is not good enough to describe the feelings they generate
...basses....middles...highs...
The first reaction, is to forget the audio booster and the equalizer, to learn how it should have been in reality...
Maybe the best comment is: It feels like being there.
Forgetting for a second the description of how good they are (check here for better poetry! http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f103/...thing-else-aka-w3-appreciation-thread-386477/ )
One comment specific to the touch HD: forget about the 100 dB limitation unless you bought it in EU (i got it in switzerland) and you are using stock roms. I am actually thinking to cook my ROM (see signature) to be optimized for audiophiles, all WWE ROMS are not affected by this tweak.
Thanks to everybody that answered my original question in the thread, actually the hint towards the westone3 came first from NOBELOVE - thanks NOBELOVE! - you made me see the world in colours!!!
For the best value get the Moto HT820's
The HT820's are still available from several places including Amazon and are only $38 (US)!! Really an amazing piece of equipment for the price. Great sound for music and phone calls and it does have a 3.5mm jack (cable even comes with it).
Oh, disregard my post. I was confused by the OP's question. The 820's are still pretty great for $38 though.
Seriously...I want USB audio support for my damn phone already... Do I really have to sell my galaxy note, and get a damn iphone for this feature that should've been here YEARS AGO?
Our phones have the worst DSP/DAC ever...
Every post I have seen of yours has just been *****ing and moaning about this phone... not once have I seen a productive/informative/helpful post from you.
why don't you just sell it already and go back to drinking apple koolaid then?
LOL
Why not just use a 3.5 mm aux wire for music and leave the usb for charging in the car? Problem solved. Although, you would have to change tracks on the phone instead of the car's head unit. There are requests to google since a year ago, we might see it in Jellybean.
I agree, *****ing and moaning wont do much. If you cant stand having this device, sell it and get something else.

go bluetooth bro. it works awesomely
Explain how I said everything about the phone sucks?
Btw, I'm an audiophile. The DAC in our phone garbage. How is it so much to ask for a USB external DAC option for my phone? Iphones had this feature before they had MMS. You say i drjnk Apple koolaid whdn i sold m iPad to get this phone?? SAMSUNG's specs said this phone had USB HOST 2.0... I bought it thinking that I'd be able to use a USB DAC with ICS which was shpposed to be released for our phone MONTHS AGO. Is Apple se, retly paying google to not have USB DACs available for android? How am i supposed to have use my hifi audio systems with my phone? And dont say bluetooth because bluetooth is not HiFi. The 3.5 mm is not an option because it cannot be a line out. Honestly, i wish we had an optical TOSLINK imside our headphone jack, which would solve my problem. This is retarded that we dont have this simple feature.
Btw this is the only thing that really would make buying this phone a dealbreaker for me. I cant ever go back to Apple but I'd like to have my phone have the ABILITY to produce lossless audio and do NOT tell me how MP3 isn't lossless because i know this. I plan on acessing VLC flac files from my home network in the future.
This is in the top 10 issues of google's entire list and they respond by saying basically if someone codes it for them then they might look i to it. They MIGHT... Are you kidding? Most audiophiles who have iphone would switch over for a droid and USB DAC in a heartbeat. Apple would lose a couple hundred thousand customers for writing a few lines of code for ICS...

Besides a DIY project, may try the MHL-microHDMI link to and audio input. Most manufacturers don't seem interested in making anything but apple's 30pin audio components. My Pioneer Dual Din Bluetooth Car Stereo has a USB out the works with Note. Have to use the phone to control it though.

I love my Note, but I keep an old ipod permanently connected in my car just for music. And I have my old iphone 3G, which is only worth $50 at best, is attached to my hi-fi system at home.
Who says you have to do everything with one device? If the Note doesn't do what you want, keep your note and buy something else to do the other job. Just my $0.02.
i'm no genius - but doesn't the MHL adapter provide HDMI audio out?
wouldn't that imply that you CAN get HiFi audio out to your AVR or amp ?
then again, what do i know
If you are this anal about high end sound use store bought CDs. That or a record player and you won't need a DAC.
I love audio way more than anyone I know and I stream blue tooth audio from my phone.. Is it the best sound? No but it gets the job done. If you want high end you need to right equipment. Sadly the Galaxy note doesn't currently have the ability to do this.

What pisses me off is the only thing stopping the note from doing this is a few lines of code for USB audio.
And the note doesn't even support HDMI audio out..

Not really correct. Using the original BT compression algorithm, SBC, you get the equivalent of a high-bitrate MP3 - a maximum of 768kbit/s shared between channels and overhead so probably closer to a 256 MP3. There is a newer compression algorithm apt-X which provides lower latency and even higher quality at 384kbit/s. Overhead isn't included in that bitrate so that is the actual throughput on the audio channels. Not lossless (if that is your definition of "HiFi"), but you would have to do a side-by-side comparison to nitpick out the very minor differences.

Incorrect. The voltage levels between the mini plug and line out are compatible. Keep the volume down a bit to keep the voltage down and you are fine.

I will confirm this works for my Pioneer and Jensen HU's in my vehicles, as well as my XBOX360. Only downfall is you have to use your audio device to choose your tracks. It gets the job done.

It may have been a bit of an understatement, but considering that windows is something like 62 million lines of code, a simple driver for enabling usb audio when we already have USB host 2.0 wouldn't be very much in comparison, when it should have been implemented in the first place..
Honestly, if anyone gets full linux to ever work on the note, I'm going to use that and never look back if USB audio works with it, and has s-pen support to control the mouse. I'm pretty sure that would happen LONG before android ever gets universal usb audio.

I actually thought that bluetooth audio had less bitrate, but I want the capability for lossless audio streaming from my home network using FLAC files, and the ability to watch blu ray stored on my pc over LTE would be badass as well, without audio comprimise.
Integrating TOSLINK hidden inside our headphone jack isn't has hard as you think. Many RCA and 3.5mm connectors have toslink hidden inside them from laptops and other devices, my sound card has it in the RCA SPDIF out. All they would need to do is make a proprietary android plastic mold adapter which being slightly different shaped than a headphone jack, would activate the TOSLINK switch inside the headphone jack and allow it to be on only by plugging the proprietary adapter inside, saving battery. TOSLINK can't be affected by EMF interuption. If this started happening, many things in the mobile market would change. Apple would lose hundreds of thousands of customers from the audio quality standpoint alone, more audiophiles would emerge from everywhere. Speaker development would increase exponentially. Hifi iPod docks would include TOSLINK. High end headphones would start coming with portable amps with Line Out, TOSLINK, and other options. It would be the easiest way to connect to a home theater system for high end audio. more people would be making their desktops a home server with all the audio stored on it able to stream over LTE. More people would be interested in FLAC and better bitrates. OTher companies would be profiting, driving BOSE into the ground. Companies like JMLAB, Legacy, Theil, Velodyne, Celestian, PSB, Focal, and many other high end companies who deserve more market.
I think it's a little stupid that on a device with a screen as nice as ours, we have little to no audio options available, when audio should have been the first concern in order to manipulate the market. Almost nobody who owns our phone even realizes just how good the display actually is. The black levels on our screen surpass almost any TV ever made, even if the colors aren't perfect. For example, I have a 55 inch 720p Sony Rear projection triple LCD panel tv with less pixels then my phone screen. The black levels on the phone DESTROY my tv, even if the colors aren't near as good on the phone, for cinema, it looks way better a foot from my face than optimal viewing distance with the HDTV. and, the colors on the HDTV surpass that of ANY "LED" tv you will see scamming the market today. They are LED backlit garbage twisted nematic LCD panels with terrible color accuracy. The sony has almost as good colors as my $700 Gateway FPD2485W professional S-IPS photo editing monitor actually, but still not quite. despite this, the phone still looks way better because of the black levels and sharpness, brightness and overall quality of the screen. I think Samsung solved the color problems with SuperAMOLED Plus with a different sub pixel layout amongst other improvemnts

I will confirm this works for my Pioneer and Jensen HU's in my vehicles, as well as my XBOX360. Only downfall is you have to use your audio device to choose your tracks. It gets the job done.
Sounds like OP needs a custom Bose system for his car, and a Galaxy iNote.

Do not ever plague my posts saying insinuating that I'm a BOSE or Apple fanboy. I am a fanboy of nothing, besides maybe the Dodge Viper. My car sound system might've only cost me $350, from amazing creigslist deals, but it'd run me over $1200 everything brand new with a shop install. I might only have cheap polk 5.25" paper cone door speakers with only 45 watts RMS but they have 93db efficiency which is outstanding for the size, and swivel mount silk domes for clarity. my Alpine 6x9 in the back also have silk domes, and my Alpine 12" kevlar reinforced pulp cone subs might only be 400 watts RMS,but they sound damn clean for the price I stole them for off creigslist, and the custom box they're in is well enough built that even being a vented dual 12" box, if you physically tap on one woofer, the other moves like a well built passive radiator. The component speakers are driven from an MB Quart RA4200 100x4 RMS 0.5% THD amp, which is when rockford fosgate owned MB Quart, and had some quality stuff.
Then again, my home system is better, and while I only have a surround sound system comprised of my HTPC using analogue out from my Auzentech X-FI Home Theater HD, which is one of the best cards ever made for it's purpose, a few 5" Kevlar woofer, Class AB active 1" Silk dome M-Audio BX5a studio monitors, they definitely have clarity. but, my Velodyne ULD 18 is what brings my theater together. You may not understand this, or understand why, but an 18 inch woofer producing [email protected] 20Hz with 0.5% THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) with under a QUARTER INCH of excursion, using a standard tar reinforced pulp cone woofer, with a servo attached to it to achieve this, is no easy feat considering the sub was made before I was born, in 1989. It was the first subwoofer ever to get a class A stereophile review. not only that, but it's flat down to 14Hz and will still push over 120db @ 20Hz with well under 3% THD. This is impressive for using only a 400 watt Class B servo amplifier. The bass quality of my theater makes my car sub which people seem to think is amazing hearing it sound like complete garbage. it makes my sudio monitors look like garbage, and anything bose has ever made sound like garbage, and it's the only piece of audio equipment I will claim to be true quality, everything else, I consider mediocre, because I can't afford a $4,000 pair of ATC bookshelves, or a $30,000 pair of JMLAB Utoptias..
But for the price I paid, I got decent enough quality, and my headphones I use (Sennheiser CX6 for fidelity, Vmoda Crossfade LP for soundstage and bass/electronic music), you can't ever tell me BOSE is quality. Maybe the BOSE 301's are good, I don't know for sure, haven't head them, but everything BOSE Iv'e ever heard was garbage for the money, and I had the tri port headphones, I had the quiet comfort 3's both as a gift. I'd never pay for anything bose has ever currently made, but who knows, Ford finally made something awesome with the new mustangs, I could change my mind eventually.
Point is, I mostly know what I'm doing with audio. As an Audiophile, I can say for a fact, Apple has a lot of loyal customers because of the audio options, Iv'e had 3 Iphones, the original as a hand me down which was broken (I'm extremely grateful for that because of the grandfather clause), the Iphone 4 as a gift before I ever cared about having a nice phone, and the 4S I traded my atrix for and couldn't stand using it once I knew what I was missing, despite the ease it was connecting to my head unit. The lack of navigation really pissed me off, the interface and texting pissed me off, the tiny screen pissed me off. I ended up deciding to sell the iphone and ipad to get this Galaxy note, which was worth it in every aspect except the terrible audio options available and the fact Samsung ripped us off on ICS release.

All they would need to do is make a proprietary android plastic mold adapter which being slightly different chaped than a headphone jack, would activate the TOSLINK switch inside the headphone jack and allow it to be on only by plugging the proprietary adapter inside, saving battery.
Your e-penis is mighty!
After running through a few sets of Samsung earbuds with my Note 4--generally, they would snag on something, following which one of the earbuds would stop working--I looked for something more durable, with significantly better sound, but without breaking the bank. A hi-fi stereo system, it's not.
My research led me to the Xiaomi Piston 3, a joint product of the same company that makes the phones and 1More, which offers well-regarded earphones at significantly higher price points.
To get the best price, I also looked for a reliable Chinese vendor. I ended up buying from Gearbest. Last August, I paid $15.13 plus $1.67 for faster shipping; slower shipping was, and still is, free. Today, I see Gearbest has them for $12.29.
Even at twice the price, I think they'd be a bargain. I enjoyed them thoroughly, listening mostly to classical music, acoustic folk music, folk rock, jazz, and popular music. theheadphonelist recommends them, rating them 10/10 for value.: "Very comfortable fit; fantastic sound quality for the price; 3-button Android remote." It's sound signature is somewhat v-shaped, meaning that the bass and treble are somewhat enhanced. I say "somewhat," because if you're a real bass-head, they're not for you. On the other hand, the mids are fairly clear and present.
They have a microphone and three-button remote located on the cable to the right ear. All three buttons work on Android phones. In using the Piston 3 for phone functions, people on the other end never complained about call quality. They come with four sets of eartips: XS, S. M (on the earphones), and L.
I found the Piston 3s quite comfortable to wear for long listening sessions. Over a little over six months, they worked flawlessly. Perhaps because of the wrapping of the cables, the occasional snag didn't led to disaster.
My only problem is that I somehow lost them shortly after getting by Galaxy S7. After more research, I decided to try the newest model Xiaomi earphones, with hybrid dual drivers, that is, the Xiaomi Hybrids have one dynamic driver for low frequencies and one armature driver for high and mid frequencies. Again, I've bought from Gearbest, $16.99 plus free shipping, or faster for only a little more. After I've had and listened with them for a reasonable time, I'll report back.
Meanwhile, I'd appreciate others' thoughts, and especially experience with the S7.
I'm using the Piston 3s once again, having purchased them for my LG G2, before switching to iPhone. I definitely became spoiled by all the 3-button iOS remotes out there and wish there were more for Android. Ideally, I want a sweatproof pair with earhooks, a 3-button Android remote, and a shirt clip. Basically, an Android version of my Klipsch AS-5i.
The Piston 3s sound fine, though I'm not crazy about the fit. I just switched to the L tips and that helps a bit, but the seal isn't terrific. They're more comfortable and a lot better sounding that the Samsung buds that were included. Those make the Apple EarPods sound premium. I'm interested in what you think about the Hybrids after you've had a chance to listen.
U guys are like writing an essay. Got Xiaomi headset myself. Sound is fine. Controls are to close to each other.

No headphone jack, no DAC, no front speakers, ugly generic design. No thanks. If this is true, then I'm not buying the new line of Axons. I'm sticking with my 7 until it dies, unless these leaks are a lie and has all of the above, and buying the new oneplus lineup
All is OK, but rear speakers!
Blue color is ugly.

Where did you get the 'no headphone jack, no DAC' part? They don't say anything about that. I don't believe they will abandon those two since every Axon (not sure about the C2017, but all of the others, Axon, Axon Pro, and all of those) had the AK4490.
I've read from different pages and they don't mention a thing about audio.
Besides that, there is one thing that I love about the design. The S8, OP5T, Mate 10 pro, they all have that useless chin below, and they just add on-screen buttons. The perfect solution is either an IPhone-like screen and navbar buttons below (like an upside-down Mi Mix) or capacitive buttons on the chin just like this one (Or at least the fingerprint sensor there, like the regular Mate 10, then add fingerprint gestures).
What would we get first Oreo or the axon 9 ?
???
Rear speakers kill the best of axon line, if it's real, except the processor, for me, axon 7 is still better

the ETA is April, so Oreo. Plus the A2017 already has Oreo.

I see a very tiny imperfection on the top of the phone. Look carefully there.
Plus many bezel-less phones have a headphone jack. take the s8/s9/note8 for example. i think the OP5T also has one. Apple said it was to get more space but in reality I don't think you have a lack of space on a 6" device

That looks too small for a headphone jack doesn't it? Very low quality pictures though...I think it might be a mic hole. If it's not up there, then I hope it's at the bottom. I just hope it doesn't have the speakers at the back side. Everything else is fine but it doesnt have the things that made the Axon 7 popular in the first place. I even remember taking a survey provided by ZTE from Newegg where I bought the phone about a few months asking me what I would want to find in a new Axon phone. A lot of the questions asked about the speakers and audio.
It makes me believe it's either some other phone in the Axon line, since the CEO mentioned there will be three Axon tiers. Tier A, B and C and maybe this could be that "midrange B" tier .
Then that makes the one with speakers, headphone jack, and a DAC the flagship Tier A pricing over $600 to $700
Which just doesn't make sense from a company like ZTE when there are so many over marketed phones in that price range like the Galaxies, people will choose those over this one simply because of how many people are familiar with a company like Samsung or even a Google device like the Pixel lines.

It's not small at all. Notice how the whole side of the phone has a frame. Our phone has a very rounded back, that's why it's so noticeable in the axon 7. But that phone has a frame, so the jack is much less noticeable. just look at it some time and you'll see that it has just the right size to be a 3.5mm jack.
They may have gotten rid of the front firing speakers. I personally don't care, I bought it for everything else - if it came out with a reasonable price (say, $500 - 550) i wouldn't think twice.

You might be right, but time will tell. Hopefully soon more leaks come or they'll announce it. I like the front speakers, but if the price range is say more than 500-600, i may as well get another better phone with that price range. I'm picky, it must have front speakers for me I take advantage of them all the time.
I honestly hope they don't omit, what was in most people's opinion, the best part of the Axon 7: incredible front facing speakers. If they fail to include them they are going to lose a huge part of the Axon following. I definitely won't be buying it without them.
I would like to see a desing with no hardware buttons, and a bigger screen :3
I too bought the Axon 7 for the front facing stereo speakers alone. Without them I might as well have bought a OnePlus phone. I'd rather have some sort of gesture-based navigation system (like on the iPhone X or like OnePlus is experimenting with) than losing the stereo speakers...
Don't know whether this info is right or not but some sites confirm a 3.5mm jack...

Axon 9 without anything from Axon 7 (except amoled), it will fail! I am lucky to have Axon 7! =)
I'm a huge fan of the front stereo speakers. It was one of my main attractions to the Axon 7. Not sure about this new one.
And even though it's pretty cool that the fingerprint ready is under the display, I personally like the placement on the back. I can unlock it with only one hand when it's on the back, rather than one hand holding the phone and the other to unlock.
Ugh, this doesn't look like an upgrade at all. It's a completely different phone. They might as well give this a different name all together. I mean, it looks very nice and all, don't get me wrong. But to me, an Axon is all about the speakers and sound! If this is truly the next Axon I am very disappointed.

I agree with a lot of this:
The fingerprint scanner placement on the Axon 7 is perfect - my index finger goes right there automatically and I like unlocking with one hand.
The audio capabilities were a big deal to me, both the relatively loud front-facing speakers and the good DAC. And I require a headphone jack (and microSD).
The price was also a big factor for me - $350 (6 mo. or so after launch) vs $500+ for most comparable phones.
If the Axon 9 changes these things, I see little reason for me to buy it, even though I've been very happy with my first ZTE device. I'll stick with my Axon 7 for a while longer, and upgrade to something that fits my preferences better when the time comes. Not a deal breaker for me, but the Axon 9 pics I've seen make it look generic and kind of cheap.
Slimmer bezels are always a good idea, but I'd rather keep the 5.5" screen and make the casing smaller than keep the same size casing and grow the screen to fit it. That would allow me to use the phone much more comfortably with one hand
I don't see anything in that article that is written in stone. The images are so low res that they could be a total computer generated mock up and even if the leaked specs are correct, they are very vague at best. Although would be very interesting to have an under-screen fingerprint scanner!
One thing I have learned over the years is to take all mobile phone leaks with a massive pinch of salt. Best bet... just wait and see! April is not far away and besides, we still have one, if not thee best bang for buck smartphone on the market even after being released 2016. All the big smartphone manufacturers would have EOL'ed a device by now but not ZTE.

Eyewear II Product Concept
Smart glasses are a symbol of Huawei’s strength in wearables innovation
Smart glasses already becoming increasingly prevalent in our everyday lives, they may soon become an important entry-point for future human-computer interaction. Huawei has always been known for its technological innovation across a diverse range of end products and continues to provide users with smart and convenient experiences in all aspects of life. As not only a stylish accessory for users on the street, but also a vehicle for improved convenience and comfort in communication, the Eyewear II Series marks a new era in which more people will wear smart glasses.
A new category of fashionable smart glasses with GENTLE MONSTER
GENTLE MONSTER, as a leader in fashion trends, culture and technology, aims to provide its consumers with “fresh experiences through visual innovation”. Their designs are bold, using vibrant colour and an infusion of avant-garde elements that are not only visually stunning, but also accentuate the wearer’s personality.
In 2020, Huawei continues its collaboration with GENTLE MONSTER with Eyewear II, adopting a design concept of “Fashion Wear”. For sunglasses and optics in 2020, Huawei has designed new products in the different timeless styles. In terms of functions, Huawei has made full use of its own accumulated technical capabilities to integrate a wealth of functions into the tiny lens frames, ensuring the beautiful and harmonious overall appearance of the glasses.
Classic design with style
For a more comfortable wearing experience, Huawei's R&D engineers have adopted a sophisticated device stacking technology to ensure that the temples are slim enough, and the entire lens body has no buttons or ports, making the design stylish and simple.
The slim temples are also made of titanium plastic, which is less dense and light. The surface is coated with a high-gloss finish, which gives the overall texture a warm and lustrous look, ensuring comfort as well as a sense of tech and style.
Smart Interaction
Easy pairing by a simple pinch
To pair Eyewear II with a device is very straightforward; users can simply place the glasses in their case and press the button on the case. Besides this, Eyewear II supports upgraded gesture controls that let user easily finish pairing by pinching the left temple.
User-friendly notification
Eyewear II glasses play a greeting when the user puts them on for the first time each day. Users also can set the greeting time to be played whenever they like.
In this way, users can enjoy smart interaction through Eyewear II.
Smart connection
Eyewear II makes a step forward in terms of smart experience. After the user puts aside their Eyewear II glasses for a while and put them on again, a window will pop up on the smartphone screen, so the user can check Eyewear II’s battery level with a glance. By tapping on the pop-up window, the user can quickly go to the device’s settings for more details. Furthermore, Eyewear II is equipped with multiple sophisticated sensors that enable smart wearing detection. The music will automatically stop when the glasses are taken off, and resume when the user put them on within 3 minutes, offering uninterrupted music enjoyment.
Convenient gesture control
Eyewear II includes an array of interactive features to improve user experience. By default, double-tapping the left temple will wake up the voice assistant. A double-tap on the right temple can play or pause music, as well as answer or decline a phone call. Users are also able to customise their gesture control according to their own habits.
In addition, Eyewear II supports swiping gestures for users to play the next/previous song and adjust the volume. In this way, they don’t need to pull out their phone but can simply swipe on the left or right temples instead, which is especially convenient when they can’t reach their phone on certain occasions.
Personal Stereo Sound for Personal Music Moments
Enjoy HD stereo with open-fit speakers
Unlike the open design of normal speakers and closed design of earphones, HUAWEI Eyewear II adopts an open-fit design which features an open-fit speaker on the left and right temple. Such design brings the best stereo experience with great sound quality.
Ultra-thin large-amplitude speakers provide immersive sound effects
HUAWEI Eyewear II glasses are equipped with 128mm2 ultra-thin large-amplitude speakers. Compared with the last generation, the amplitude has been increased by 100% to offer wider vocal range, so no matter whether the user wants to listen to music, play games or watch TV, they can enjoy an immersive audio experience.
Reverse sound field technology offers clear and crisp stereo
Privacy is crucial in the advancement of technology. The all-new reverse sound field technology and the leakage hole design on the temples cancels directional sound waves from the sound cavity, effectively reducing sound leakage by up to 12dB. Together with adaptive volume technology, users do not need to worry about whether others can hear what they are listening to, even in quiet environments such as a lift or conference room.
Wireless charging, long-lasting battery life
Powerful battery for a carefree experience
HUAWEI Eyewear II can play music for 5 hours or voice calls for 3.5 hours continuously on a single charge, and its battery life has been increased by more than 40% compared with the previous generation, so it can accompany users for the prolonged use of daily life.
Instant charge with wireless charging case
HUAWEI Eyewear II glasses have no charging port, all the charging and pairing is done within the elegant and stylish glasses case, which features new NFC contactless, wireless fast charging technology. Connect the glasses case to a power supply through a USB-C cable, and then put the glasses into the case to start charging instantly.
High quality audio recording
HUAWEI X GENTLE MONSTER Eyewear II supports high quality audio recording capabilities[1], that can record sound from roughly 20Hz to 20kHz, fully covering the frequency perceivable by the human ears. When paired with a smartphone to record videos or audio notes, the HUAWEI X GENTLE MONSTER Eyewear II frees users from the constraints of distance and cables, helping them to easily record sounds. Users can turn on the Eyewear II’s "high quality recording” function in Huawei AI Life App so when the smartphone starts to record a video, the high-quality recording will be activated simultaneously.
Hands free vlogging
Vlogging has become one of the most popular ways of expression on social media. However, when shooting vlogs, smartphone or other equipment with built-in microphone is easily interfered by the distance or environmental noise. If the user is not close to the smartphone or in an environment with complex noise, the audio will be unclear, and the environmental noise will overwhelm the audio.
Find my Glasses
When users can't find their Eyewear II, they can use "Find my Glasses" feature in the HUAWEI AI Life app on a Huawei smartphone running EMUI 11 or above to make the eyewear beep. However, please note that in order to protect user’s hearing, be sure not to activate this function when wearing the eyewear.
