*This is my first post, sorry if bad format or I'm doing something wrong*
I have a US, AT&T Pixel 4 XL. Completely stock everything, brand spanking new, no drops or damages.
The Problem:
Phone was completely fine last night, it was at 80% charge and working perfectly when I went to bed. When I woke up and looked at my phone this morning, the issue had occurred. The screen is mostly black, the only pixels displaying are the clock in the top left and battery icon in the top right. When the screen is "on" it just flashes those icons over and over. When I click the lock button to lock the device, it goes completely black.
Found a user on YouTube with the same issue: (not allowed to post urls, will comment the video)
What I've done so far:
I have hard rebooted, to no effect. I contacted Google support and they had me reset the phone to factory settings, which I thought fixed the problem. After the reset the phone functioned perfectly and I left the chat. Immediately after locking the phone for the first time after the reset, the problem occurred again...flashing. I contacted Google support again later in the morning and through testing multiple times have confirmed that it only breaks once the phone locks even once after a factory reset. I used the phone for 15-20 minutes with no issues, but as soon as I locked it for the first time, it started flashing. Google had no answers but to call AT&T and use my warranty for a new phone.
I'm not 100% convinced I need a new phone because the error happened over night and with no physical damage. This leads me to believe it is a software issue.
Before I waste time getting a new phone, does anyone have any ideas or advice for this problem?
Thanks so much.

I bought a new Google IO Galaxy 10.1 about a month ago from someone who attended the conference. I haven't had any major problems with it until tonight. For some reason, the screen flickers so severely that the tab is unusable. I thought maybe there was an app that wasn't compatible with HC3.1, so I wiped it clean in fastboot and reflashed everything to stock.
Unfortunately the screen flicker remains, and turning the screen off and on provides me with only a few seconds to see what I'm doing. I will post a picture after my 8th post.
Anyone have similar problems? Any idea what could have caused it? Since I bought it in a private sale, I don't think I can send it in.
Update:
The screen flicker was completely gone this morning after letting the tablet sit overnight. Unfortunately, upon rebooting, the flickering has returned in full force.
Update:
The flicker, which was more like trying to watch a scrambled t.v. channel, has disapeared on it's own. Very strange, maybe the gpu was overheating due to overclocking.
Problem still exists, unrooting and sending it in.
Thanks for all the input... pfft.
I just experienced the exact same issue for the first time this morning. The entire screens flickers and becomes scrambled which renders the touchscreen useless.
My tablet is in factory form with no rooting or overclocking so I find this puzzling....
,Hey, I have a 1" section from the top of the touch screen all the way across that stops responding to touch every no and then, i seem to have narrowed it down to the browser and games like tiny tower. it also happens when i dock the unit sometimes.
the only thing that makes me feel its not hardware is simply locking the unit and unlocking it will fix the dead zone. unless the transformer cuts power to or resets the ts when locked.
this has happened as frequent as 5 times in 15 minutes while browsing the web.
when it happens you can put the screen into portrait mode and it then becomes the right hand side that wont work. fault stays physically in the same area.
any ideas before i try returning it to Harvey Norman would be great.
Useful info:
Unit is C2 serial
Trans former Prime 64Gb
Running Original Asus WW 9.4.2.21
Unit is not Rooted
Please let me know if this has been discussed with the PRIME before, all other threads I've found are about just a spot area not responding, this is a perfect strip the same size as the browsers tabs and address bar. almost like the browser is taking out that area.
Update:
after 3 factory resets in a row, then a hard reset, i have got a clean install with all the asus software up-to date and flash installed,
I have been successful with narrowing it down to connecting the unit to the dock while the browser is open and on the screen.
for a controlled test i had the browser with the default page of h t t p :/ / www . asus . com / (cant post links yet) open, tested the menu in the top right, connected the dock and then retried the menu after it detected the dock.
at this stage the menu(and the top portion o the screen) don't respond.
if i press the lock button on the display then unlock it, the unit functions normally again.
this fault is repeated multiple times in a row, only once out of 5 did the touchscreen function after docking while the browser is connected.
if i exit to the main screen and retry the process i don't have this issue. should i file some sought of bug report with asus?
Can we see some pics?
Do a factory reset.
Factory resets resolve all kinds of annoying little software quirks like this one. And if they reset doesn't solve your problem, RMA the Prime.
Sorry couldn't get it to fault, I then connected it to the dock while the browser was open, that caused the fault.
the shots attached are of the fault, then the one with all 10 touches is after a lock then unlock.
I have done a factory reset about 2 days ago, but it could be one of my apps doing it.
Thanks almightywhacko, i will heed your word, although it is my last resort.
too bad i signed up to get the free dongle the other day.
I have the exact same problem!
I too occasionally have the 1" dead stripe across the "top" (it's the edge by the camera and always that edge). I thought I was the only one, I'm happy I found this. A little history of mine: I sent my prime into ASUS for RMA about some hot spots on my screen and a weird black mark in the middle (not a dead pixel). They put a new screen in and sent it back. I got it back the beginning of April and when I turned it on, it successfully did an ICS update and various app updates. Then the problem started to happen a few days later - a total of three times in three weeks. The problem starts while using one app, and then persists until it's locked or restarted no matter what app I change to. History of incidents:
#1) was using Facebook app and browser, but cleared itself up in about 5 minutes which I then promptly uninstalled the lousy FB app
#2) I was playing "Where's My Water" with my son and it happened. It didn't clear on it's own this time and I just put it to sleep. When I woke it up, it was fine.
#3) Wife was playing "Where's My Water" with son, it did it again. Rebooted and it was fine.
I have a video of the problem here: h t t p : / / youtu.be/jZApzm9cT1E
If the link doesn't work, I can zip the movie and try that, but I am a new member and I am limited.
Hopefully this is a software related issue as I don't want to have to send it back to RMA I am going to email their tech support and post this forum and another I started on a different place to hopefully have them find a resolution themselves.

I just picked up my S3 and the whole screen had a hazy green tint on the lock screen and was the same when I unlocked, and I wasn't gonna mess about so rebooted quick and back to normal now, and I read another thread about it but isn't clear why it happens, but I checked the battery graph and there's just a huge gap as if no power was getting through at all, so has anyone else had this happen on S3 and what's causing it?

Just had this, I put my phone into my shoulder bag, cycled for 10 minutes, picked up the phone and the entire screen was green as if the red and blue pins from a monitor cable had disconnected.
I'm also having charging difficulties, although that may be the cables.
I'm on CM9, literally just updated to the newest nightly now to see if that sorts any issues. There's something just not quite right about this phone of mine. A quick reset was all it took to sort the screen out but it was scary to think such an issue could occur.
All I know is it's something to do with a sudden dip in power and I read about other phones doing it too very occasionally, and after it happened there was a gap on the battery chart as if the phone was getting no power at all.
Sounds like the OS or at least an important process crashed or got stuck (deadlock, livelock, ...).
Green color has something to do with the rendering process and/or screen calibration. All Galaxy S1 with Voodoo patches for the display color values show a green screen for a very short instant after screen-on.
That also explains the gap in the battery stats since a non-functional OS cannot collect any informations.
Did you run any particular apps which might be causing it?
Without any details I can only recommend the standard package: flash your OS again, factory-reset it.
Maybe wiping the cache is enough. Maybe it's a hardware fault, hard to say...
I just rebooted and I've already upgraded since then, and I wasn't doing anything really at the time except I think that was around the time I used G L to SD and it broke the Play Store, but when it Hulked on me I hadn't touched phone for 40 minutes and that's what I saw when I woke it up. but most people say it's a once in a lifetime thing so not really worried.
I've had multiple reboots of my phone without doing anything to it lately, also one time it just shut itself off and it took me like five minutes to get it on again. Any ideas?
Now it seems to be stuck on the "Windows Phone" page when booting up with the dots going from left to right, what the **** is this :S
I did a hardreset via the bootloader thingy and now my back, home and search buttons don't work..
It is customary in XDA that when reporting issues to inform things like;
Radio
ROM
Usage
Any apps installed before the issue started.
I had random reboots on my titan before in the past. Phone would freeze and restart eventually it got to the point where even after a hard reset it would freeze. I narrowed it down to the Phone trying to connect to 3G even though I live in an area that T-Mobile has not re-farmed.
On an unrelated note, I've noticed my Edge speed have had a slight speed bump, heres hoping it's a sign.

there is a memory issue on some of these phones.
maybe check out this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1388232
I got my Titan back from HTC repair two weeks ago as the 3 capacitive bottom buttons didn't work, Never did find out why? After receiving it from repair they worked but the screen decided to go off when it wanted and would not come back on no matter what I did and the rear of phone got super hot, I finally fiddled with sim card tray and found if you moved the sim card in the tray it shut the screen off loose connection etc, So it went back again, Recieved it Yesterday from its second repair having a new screen fitted and proximity sensor???? and the three buttons at bottom did not work again, So I was half way through a real *****y email to Customer support when it suddenly started working after leaving it for around ten minutes, There was also a long delay after boot before the main homescreen appeared, I did have to hard reset three times before it sorted itself out, Very strange stuff, Anyway I didnt send the email as it is all working now, Fingers crossed it has been stable since and has over half the memory full, So maybe have a fiddle with the sim card tray or hard reset via boot load screen and hopefully it will work again.
(UPDATE: Here is a link to a short video of my issue: https://youtu.be/YqKW3tU4Fhw)
So I cant seem to find ANY info relating to this issue aside from results for the LG G4, but the solutions for said phone are all over the place. Some are bad screen, some are related to sim tray, some are related to water damage and battery etc. So basically, about a month after buying this phone (KIW-L24 US version), the screen started to artifact and flash in and out randomly. There is nothing that seems to trigger it. I have set the phone down on a table while on the homescreen and watched the lightshow. It is basically a mixture of the problems seen in these videos (Feat. LG G4).
https://youtu.be/gAUkXLR7eQI And https://youtu.be/QstOH66pfiU.
Symptoms:
Screen will randomly start to flicker and fade in and out. I will also get crazy artifacting lines. (Think de-gaussing an old CRT monitor or simillar to what is seen in the second video)
If i see the problems happening, locking the phone and unlocking again will sometimes fix it temporarily. Other times the problem continues after i turn the screen back on.
Sometimes the screen will refuse to come back on. The backlight turns on, and the digitizer responds, but the screen is still black. Making sure the screen really is off, I can come back to the phone a few minutes later and it will turn on. Other times ill have to hard reset the phone (hold power button 10 sec) and it usually brings the screen back to life.
Background:
I bought the phone "used - Like New" from amazon. It came with all the original accessories and even still had the film protector on the back of the phone. I may have noticed these problems after I received the phone, but they really only started to show about a month after purchase.
At first I though it could be software related as I was running CM13 and something could have been corrupted, so i did not just a factory restore, but a full reflash. This didn't solve the issue. Restarting my phone and the reflash did help, but the problem returned. The inability to turn the screen on persists through a reset and I have to wait till the phone boots again to get the screen back. Sometimes takes more than one reboot. This pretty much confirms a hardware issue right? If i put the phone on a black screen, i can see three small fuzzy "dots" in a triangle shape in the top left quadrant. Could the screen have been damaged by whoever owned it before returning it? They are not dead pixels per se, but seems more like areas where the backlight is showing through ever so slightly more. Not visible unless you are on a black screen in a dark room. Ill upload a video showing some of the issues. Any help is appreciated!
im afraid you need a new display brodar...
Seems to be hardware issue. You can visit the nearest service center to get it fixed for few bucks if you don't have warranty.
Yeah that's what i figured, i just needed conformation. I was able to get amazon to take the return even though I was out of the return period. So at least ill be able to get a refund. Ill just pay the extra for a new one this time haha.
One question : Do u have over heat problem with ur phone ?? If u feel ur phone is more than work from the back dont replace . U'll damage the new screen also . Some ppl erported over heat cpu issue with honor ! ;.

Try moving to stock once , if it fixed stick to it for few days . 99% of possible cases for hardware issue .
So better request for a replacement from huawei . but don't mention them that u bought it used . tell them u bought it new
