Using the app Ampere, my V10 does not take advantage of the fast charge 2.0. I get to charging at or around 700mA, but mostly sub 500mA or less. I've tried using the charger that came with the phone, I purchased an Anker 40W 5-Port charger and recently a Mobiilink 6-Port 60W charger all with the same results. Any ideas as to what may be wrong (if any). My phone has been charging for the last 3hrs and is only at 50% after being plugged in at 9%. Thanks in advance for any help.

As far as I can determine, neither of the chargers you mention are Qualcomm Quick charge certified. So you won't be able to get the fastest charge with them. Anker does make chargers that are qualcomm certified, but the one you have isn't. Mobilink has zero devices that are certified.
No matter what words are used by the manufacturer, unless they are qualcomm certified you are more than likely out of luck..
What about the charger that came with the phone? It is certified and will most definiitely give you a fast charge.
The V10 is equiped with qualcomm fast charge 2.0 technology. Fast charge 3.0 is available on a few devices and there are lots of manufacturers advertising chargers that are quallcomm fast charge 3.0 certified. I personally would avoid these as they won't speed up the charge rate of the V10 and are usually sold at a premium price.
Thanks for the reply. The phone DOES quick charge. It seems that when I'm using the phone while charging, it charges slowly (>500mA) . When I set it down, it will charge fast (<1.5A). The charger that came with the phone is Qualcomm fast charge 2.0 as well as the 5-port Mobiilink (only one port).
Bought rn3
first time it fully charged in Little over 2 hours
I checked ampere app and it showed 1600-1700mA while charging
Then today morning again I put to charge with same official charger
and it doesn't charge !!
it shows charging but percentage don't increase
it sometimes even decreases!
I checked ampere app and now showing just 90-180mA current
I used a 1.5A Samsung charger and it charges with 750mA current
what's wrong?

Did you check if your phone still is communicating via USB? Because I have nearly the same issue.
I one wondered why my phone always was bringing this sound fpr plugging/unplugging the charger.
I assumed this was issued by a small charger which could not devliver enough current (usually up to 1800mA). So I used another one over the night.
Next day I expected it to be fully charged but it didn't charge at all. The app Ampere showed me just 100mA.
Then I've recognized that the USB-communication did not work anymore. So I guess that until there's no charger or PC-USB recognized, there's a limit to 100mAh.
I tested several chargers, cables and no chance to achieve more current. USB plug seems to be broken or something.
It doesn't matter if phone is powered on or off.
Then I've checked the Test-Menu. You need to shut down and then press VolUp, VolDown and Power all together.
Even from there I did not get any more current. And then I've chosen from Test-Menu the Reboot-Menu, choose Shutdown.
Now I got a 1000ma current!!!! Seems that somewhere the software restriction to 100mA is not active at this point.
Well, trying to fix this by getting the spare parts. First delivery did not fit. Second Delivery did fit, but phone did not boot.
USB-Plugin seems to be okay. the phone was a few days old.
I really don't know why anyone uses a 2A charger with this phone... Ideal conditions for charging a 4000mAh battery, or any other for that matter, would be 500mA to 1A current. I am using my trusty old LG 850mAh charger with this phone, and it charges properly, without heating up the battery. On the original charger, it went up to 38+ degrees Celsius. Now, it stays close to 30.
To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
last week i bought a Redmi 5 Plus 4gb/ 64gb Global then i tried to test charge time and quick charge.. 3-4 times with a qualcomm QC 3.0 charger and another QC 2.0 charger.. The results are similar: all about 2 hour.. the charge time with Xiaomi's own 2A Charger it take about 2 and half hour. i know its good but not so good.. By the way i notice that when test with QC3.0 charger it can not charge with 12V.. (i used a usb tester to see voltage and Current) i just saw 9.30v as max voltage. its behave look like QC2.0 not QC3.0
Snapdragon 625 should be support QC3.0 isnt it?
Are there anyone test quick charge?
I have a QC 2.0 charger,takes about 2 hour to fully charge my R5 phone... don't have tester to measure voltage,but phone doesn't heats up,its around 28 C when charging.Charger does
all my qc3.0 tests take 2 hours too. i see my qc 3.0 charger work as qc 2.0 charger. maybe my charger not work as qc 3.0 maybe our phone not support qc 3.0 we will see... i will buy a new qc 3.0 charger and i will test it again then i share the results here too.
using moto g4 plus turbo charger . charging speed 2600+mah . takes approx 1 n half hr.

thats good score :good::good: but i ordered another qc3.0 adaptor from aliexpress it has 3 port, i will share the score about a mont later
I think it has QC 2.0 instead of 3.0
A QC 3.0 charger is backward compatible.

i agree with you
welll my new charger delivered me from china, so i tested it a few times. its better than my qc2.0 charger and my other qc3 car charger ( i think its not qc3.0 its just qc2.0 ) My new charger is not as good as expected.. charge time is an hour and 45 minutes. .. its mean 15 min better than qc.2.0 ... i saw 10.1v and 1,35 amp on my usb tester, it could be 12v... Anyway we can see that the phone supports qc 3.0 but not at all its need powerfull and good qualty QC3.0 charger, so if you want to buy a QC3 charger i I recommend that you need to research well.

I've seen mine go up to 2600 mah with a samsung quick charge adaptor, don't know waht version of QC thou, 1.5 hours to 100%.
Cheers!

I'm using my old charger from vivo , is this normal charging speed?
I tried a charger that is certified by Qualcomm with QC3.0 and got around 2470 mAh (4.171 V)
PLease help! I am facing some battery calibration issues. The phone hardly charges up to 100% no matter how long you charge it. It just gets stuck at 96% or 97% and then the phone goes off at 19% on usage. I have tried different calibration apps to no avail. I even did a clean flash using the miflash tool, still no luck. Somebody help o

You are not alone. R5 plus and some another xiaomi device, sometimes we see this problem. And there is no software solution. Wipe, mi flash, battery calibrationi root... I tried everything but no luck.
Only solution is;
Remove the back cover (i did it, its not so difficult.)
Remove the battery connector plug
Wait a few seconds
Plug it back.
Thats done. Problem solved.

Can you please confirm whether it supports quick charge 3.0 ?
I`m about to buy a mi quick charge 3 adapter.
You can post screenshot of your file located at /sys/class/power_supply/battery/uevent
Just want to be sure. That`s it.
I know I might be late but I'm getting around 4.4v is that normal?

Actually I heard it's fine. I'm using quick charge 3.0. Redmi Note 5 AI/Global. Fully charges from 0 in 1hr 50 mins.
Hi i read that redmi 5 plus support qc so i had aquired samsung quick charger. When plugged phone shows quick charging but when i mesure mA while charing with qc and with normal charger there is no big difference according mesuring software. So what is real truth about qc?

Redmi 5 Plus supports QC (3.0 to be exact, as it's Snapdragon 625). Apps measuring charge rate won't show you real current, it's only approximation.
I've tested my charger, which supports QC 3.0, my 5+ uses 9Volts at almost 2Amps (when charging from 15-20%). Measuring software won't show you voltage that you are using to charge so you may not see the difference. But doing quick math - 5V*2A=10W (standard charging brick) whereas QC charger will use 9V*2A=18W. That means you are charging with 80% more power.
Keep in mind that charging with QC will get your phone a bit warmer, so phone will start to throttle the current, meaning that you won't be charging from 0% to 100% at full 18W
Yes. It charges with 9v and 1,7 amp max. (9v is static, amp is variable, that means it has only QC 2.0 mode.)
Its way faster than standart charger. I have Tronsmart QC 3.0 charger. But you can go with QC 2.0 charger.
Hi Guys,
I know we always have to use the default charger but this is also a fact that the fast charger is not always good for the phone's battery life. We can use it sometimes when we are really required fast charging.
I have a Xiaomi original charger 5V, 2A. I use to charge my device 20-80% with this charger. My phone will not get heat up like it compared to the situation when I charge with a fast charger.
Please tell me, is there any problem if I'm not using the default charger that comes in the box with the phone? I'm using that cable but with the Xiaomi slow standard charger. Will it be safe for both the phone and charger?
Thanks,

I AM USING XIAOMI 18 WATT POWER BANK WITH ORIGINAL XIAOMI CABLE AND I ALSO BOUGHT 50 WATT POWER BANK SO I CAN CHARGE MY DEVICE AT 33 WATT WITH 50 WATT Xiaomi POWERBANK COZ IT SUPPORTMax 33 watt charging and whenever i play games i use 18 watt powerbank to charge so it reduces heat.. . I didn’t face any issue …but never use fast charging while playing high graphics demanding games.sometimes while playing games if battery low then i use 18 watt powerbank to charge while play…
yeah thanks for the reply.
sometimes, in the case of need, I will use the fast charger otherwise I will always go with standard 5v 2A charger.
