Phone keeps hanging and then boot looping - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, about 10 days ago I woke up to find my phone wouldn't turn on but felt warm to the touch. At first I didn't know what to do, so after googling for a bit I found out you could force it turn off (power button + volume up) so I did it. Then when attempting to turn it back on, it just got stuck on the Sony logo and when plugging it to the charger the LED would be red when attempting to reboot again.
Several days after googling what might have happened and no luck whatsoever, I decided to take it to a repair shop where it sat for 4 days and they said it just wouldn't turn back on. After retrieving it, and not knowing I could just use a single command (fastboot erase userdata) to factory reset it, I went ahead and unlocked the bootloader to force a factory reset, after which I managed to turn it back on. However, next morning after downloading all my apps and just unplugging it from the wall and going to the bathroom it just wouldn't turn on again, so I had to factory reset it again using fastboot (that's when I found out about that command, and also realized I lost my DRM keys for no good reason but that's a whole other issue). After again setting up all my apps, it suddenly froze when restoring my WhatsApp messages so I had to yet again factory reset it and decided to just download WhatsApp for the time being. My phone was fine for the rest of the day, and the following day, but then last night when WhatsApp was preparing to back up the messages it froze again and I had to (you guessed it) factory reset it again 3 times after it kept on freezing.
At this point I'm not really sure what my phone's issue is, and from my past past experience googling similar cases, people either wouldn't be able to turn on their phones, or the posts had no answers whatsoever. Would there be any way to see what exactly is causing my phone to hang and boot loop or is it just that its time has come to be replaced?

Phone broken - eternal loop of HTC/Windows Phone screen - any fixes?

My phone was working fine earlier, sent a text off, went to write another one, pressed the search button by accident and then the screen froze, wouldnt respond to any touch at all. Tried turning the screen on and off for a bit, volume was still working etc, in the end pulled the battery. Phone restarted, managed to get it to the normal lock screen (where it had my alarm/activities for the day displayed) but again, unresponsive to touch. Pulled again a few times and the same thing happened so I decided to leave it, figured maybe the heat/humidity here (on holiday in India) had wreaked havoc with some component.
Anyways, restarted again 30 minutes later and this time couldn't get past the windows phone screen -as soon as that loaded, it reset the phone and got stuck in a neverending loop. Held up and down together and got to the screen I think is called SPL (never bothered with any of the rooting stuff)
However, the TOUCH simply says "TOUCH NONE". So obviously theres a problem there. Everything else is the same.
I tried disabling/enabling the HTC log/modem bridge but that didn't help and did a reboot and factory reset a few times but that didn't help either. Now Ive got the device hooked up to my laptop, changed from serial to USB but I don't know what (if anything) I can do in this state?
I tried earlier holding down to put it into zune mode, it completed restoring the version but then as the zune software restarted the phone, it went back into the endless cycle - the zune software was still waiting for it to reconnect again to complete the process, but obviously I couldn't get it that far.

Hold down the volume up and volume down at the same time while hitting the power once you see the white screen you can let go of the power; in green lettering you're going to see the SPL, for most of us its 2.05.160023. This is the bootloader screen, everything there is done by the volume toggle, no touch screen here. Your phone is stock which means you won't be flashing like we customized folks do so let's start with the SPL, what is it and by some chance is it HSPL'd?

berrywr, TOUCH NONE on SPL screen means either corrupted touch driver or dead touch screen.

[Q] Stock Samsung S3 goes "True Detective" on me ...

I have been reading for the past few hours on this forum for this type of a problem that I have, found couple of treads, but not the specific one(maybe I've missed something).
My S3 couple hours ago went on 3% battery while I was getting up from asleep. Checked the phone for messages and missed call.
As soon as I've put the phone down, it made the sound like the phone is turning off. But, it didn't.
I was able to see that the battery is almost dead from the blinking of the screen.
Went downstairs to plug it in for charging. As soon as I plug it, the phone went off.
So, I gave it a few minutes to refresh the battery before starting up the phone.
After power up, it said, Not registered on network. Ok, It has happened a few times before, no big deal, a simple Restart would do it.
As soon as pressed the power button to give me restart option, the phone shut down immediately. No Restart option, no menu, whatsoever ...
Turned the phone up again, and this No Service icon pop up in the status bar. Nor, I have a key lock.
I have been reading the treads and solutions about the Factory Mode that the S3 goes into but my phone hasn't been Rooted, for sure, I bought it from the store, I'm the only one who's been using it, and all of the solutions are for Rooted phones.
That might be the reason why the guys with rooted S3 have those yellow letters on screen and I dont.
All the other "symptoms" are the same.
Mine is Stock, I haven't installed any Room, Root etc ...
I can connect to Wi-Fi, everything else is working fine, but, no Service, no key lock, No restart menu via power button.
Did factory reset, didn't help.
Begging for other solutions.
Tnx in advance
If you are unrooted then claim a warranty repair, as it sounds like your efs partition is corrupt after the unplanned shut down.
You try flashing a full rom Odin, it might enable partition to again be read, but won't make it any worse.
Your thread will probably be locked as it duplicates hundreds of other identical problems.
Check correct IMEI
Network IMEI EFS

But i would return phone to the vendor after trying a factory reset .

Surprise Soft Brick

I let someone sublet me for me. When I got the apartment it was a mess. The whole place wasn't cleaned in weeks and it was a nightmare. (He left the faucets running and flooded the carpets)
I tried to find him but apparently he skipped town.
In his garbage I found an Edge. It was in excellent condition.
Tried to plug it in but the power didn't work. Broken?
I walked down the street and bought a factory plug. It would boot but stuck at 0%
I did some casual Googling and I was able to get into the boot menu (Volume Up, Home, Power). Reboot and got to his lock screen.
Repeated the above step but this time, did a factory reset.
It worked. Set up my account and was in the phone proper. I liked it, but still can't charge past 0% (need to stay plugged in)
Tried to do a factory reset but from the phone's menu this time. I forget the exact wording but error said it couldn't perform the reset and to use Smart Switch
Thought it was odd so I downloaded SuperSU and sure enough, confirmed it was previous rooted.
I assumed this explains the power problem and why I couldn't factory reset.
Waited to get home. Forget the name of Smart Switch so I decided to prompt the error again. However, when I went back to try to factor reset via phones menu, it reset without issue.
Now I am getting: “DM-VERITY VERIFICATION FAILED” ERROR
(thedroidguy.com)I looked into it and apparently I'm soft bricked.
I have the phone plugged into my computer now and got into Download mode (Volume Down, Home, Power).
It flashes for a second and my computer acknowledges that something is plugged in. Smart Switch says I'm using an Unsupported Device.
If I plug directly into power I can get to the download screen and hit up but have nothing happens.
Please help. I am staying in a hoste. I am wet, cold, and want to fix this problem to sell this phone and make my hard earned money back!
Any help can be great!
I found a youtube video by Rootjunky.com (/YJi_w5c0KyE) but I can't figure out what the firmware is since I"m in a boot loop. Worried about picking the wrong one..

LG Zero unable to factory reset

Just this morning, I woke up and saw that my LG Zero H650E was rebooting. This had happened before and I fixed it on multiple occassions by waiting till the battery ran out, and then charged it before turning the phone on. This booted my phone normally. I thought this most recent happening this morning was another one of these occassions. Therefore, I just left it on my desk to drain. About 3 hours later, it had turned off after draining so I went ahead and charged it to about 15% and then held down the power button for around 3 seconds and it booted. But after 10 minutes it still had not finished booting and I found it most unusual so I tried to boot it into factory data reset mode(I am using stock ROM), and attempted to hard reset it because I could not seem to do anything else, like download mode(power+volume up, then plug into computer) or letting it drain to 0% again and boot. When I booted it into factory reset mode, I selected "Yes", then "Yes" again. It showed the LG logo screen, with the words "Powered by Android" at the bottom and then the green Android with a blue shape in front and a gear behind appeared. After 1 second it disappeared and went back to the aforementioned LG logo screen and proceeds to do absolutely nothing. No matter how many times I have tried to factory reset it, this has always happened. I would really appreciate some help.
Thanks

Soft Brick Boot Solution - Recovered ALL Data by starting & keeping Phone In Freezer

Soft Brick Boot Solution - Recovered ALL Data by starting & keeping Phone In Freezer
I had a Samsung Galaxy S5 phone fail to black screen. It wouldn't power up so I did the whole cycle of remove battery, let it sit for awhile, then try to power it up. no matter what I tried it wouldn't do anything other than show 1st screen and then just loop. Then it started the infamous Recovery: Booting infinite looping and then freezing. Samsung's Smart Switch wouldn't recognize the device so no chance to get data off. The most I could get was to the soft brick download mode via Power-Volume Down-Home . Of course I then attempted numerous times with Odin (multiple versions) to upload the PIT and Bootable Flash ROMS. Most times with report of PASS but still would only ever get to a boot loop with no hint of starting. Did I mention that it wouldn't ever let me get to the Recovery mode via the Power-VolUp-Home button combination?
I was at wits end because I had just had a busy month with my grandson and really REALLY wanted to get those priceless pictures & Videos off. So after a couple of days of trying everything that anyone on the internet ever suggested without success, I decided to do what sometimes worked for me in the early 90's when working as a support dude in my own computer biz. Yes I stuck the phone in the fridge for half an hour. When I took it out and hit the power button IT CAME BACK TO LIFE! I was thrilled and quickly hooked it up to my laptop hoping to get it backed up. It showed up in Smart Switch but then froze before I could get the backup started. But at least now I knew that I was dealing with either a failing soldered connection on the circuit board or a memory chip that had overheated enough to cause the silicon wafers to separate when hot and lose connectivity thus crashing again.
So this time I moved my laptop close to the fridge freezer, stuck the phone inside the freezer compartment for 20 minutes and then powered it back up. As soon as it started I used both Explorer on my laptop and SmartSwitch to get a couple of backups, leaving the Galaxy S5 in the freezer the whole time! It had a full charge and thankfully gave me enough time to RECOVER EVERYTHING on the sort of soft brick almost hard brick phone. And I subsequently discovered that I can take it out of the freezer in order to recharge it fully even though it still won't run for very long once it begins to warm up. But it can be left powered off and it will take a 100% charge.
So in essence I rescued a frozen smartphone by freezing it and keeping it cold while doing a complete backup. I would highly recommend that 1 or more of the Senior Members on this forum should propagate this information on multiple threads. Because quite honestly, this should be a go to solution for anyone facing the dreaded cannot boot or infinite boot loop scenario. IMHO
