I bought the Logitech FreePulse BT headphones about a year ago and have been in love with them ever since. The fit and design aren't that great, and it doesn't have buttons for changing the songs. However, all of this is made up for by the amazing sound quality.
I have been using them religiously ever since...with my laptop, desktop (with the provided receiver) and Touch Cruise.
I decided it was time to upgrade, and get something that had what these dont; buttons for changing the songs, a mic, and the ability to switch between calls and music; all with good sound quality.
A friend recommended the Motorola s9's. I tried them, and absolutely hated them. I loved the features that they had, and I loved how lightweight they were...but the sound quality was so bad -- it was tinny, no bass at all, crackly, and hollow...like something I would expect from a pair of headphones that come free with another product.
I returned those, and then purchased the Motorola HT820's on ebay. These were a bit heavier, but I liked the fit better. These also had the buttons for switching between songs, and had a mic for calls too. However, they suffered from the same issue as the s9 - absolute crap sound quality.
I have been checking out alot of different reviews for other products, and am stuck. People never seem to agree about anything, and the reviews are always mixed.
So, I'll ask you guys here at XDA..
What do you think the best quality BT headphones are, that also have a mic, and remote control buttons?
Are there any studio quality monitors like ultimate ears that use bluetooth a2dp / handsfree?

Check the plantronics 855 it should be the best BT headset exist.
i bought a Sony Ericsson HBH-DS980 and its just perfect,
Basses are deep, and sound quality is just like my PC Speakers(logitech 5500 digital...)

Ha, I thought I was the only one. The Logitech simply are amazing in terms of sound quality, bar none. I just wish they had the AVCRP and handsfree profiles and I could deal with the fit issues and the fact that its kinda bulky. Honestly, I can't say anything is better and I've tried many. Unless Sony has vamped up its game in the last 6 months, they don't compete at all...although maybe the SonyEriccson line is better (althought I got into A2DP to avoid tangled wires, so earbud form factors are not an option for me). I have high hopes for the Jabra BT8030 though and may pick them up one day as an addition to my current A2DP headphones. The BT8030 certainly looks like it has awesome sound.
I personally use Samsung SBH-170 mainly bc of their convenience and small size. The sound was better than everything else I had tried, but nowhere near the FreePulse. FYI the FreePulse is the only headset that you could turn the Bluetooth A2DP thoroughput/bandwith all the way up on the PC w/o any stuttering.

All the ones i've tried from best buy \ circuit city suck compared to those, sound quality wise. I do agree that the fit is not the best, and others are way better, but since I'm a musician \ producer my main concern\priority in the end will always be sound quality.
I would try to order some online; but alot of places don't like people returning things and then they take a month to refund your card, etc. :-\
I saw some real good ones on ebay a couple weeks ago, but I forgot what they were called. They were labled as professional audio quality, so I'm gonna check into those for now I guess.
I still have a2dp issues with the freepulse + polaris tho..like lag, skips, weak signal, etc. Do you have the same problem sonus?
No, I don't have any serios A2DP problems, although maybe once every 15min I might get a skip. Have you tried editing the A2DP settings in the registry?

Turn your bluetooth off then on to make the changes take effect. Lower values will also give you better battery life, and reduce processor usage while a2dp is being used.
Thanks very much for the info..i changed both values to 50 and turned on true stereo (I can't believe joint stereo was enabled by default -- YUCK!) It seems to have helped..
I just listened to four songs in a row using core player and I only got 3 skips..believe it or not that is a big improvement
But the problem when coreplayer is playing and i press the power button it still skips for 2-3 seconds every time.
It's better, but I still am kind of suspicious because my laptop and desktop have 0 skips at all, no problems whatsoever...but i guess mobile devices are different sooo..yuh..I'm somewhat content now at least =]

It might be that HTC underclocks our devices when the power button has been pushed. So try a lower bitrate, experiment with a value like 45 or even 40 to see if the music quality is audibly degraded, you should get no skipping at that point.
yeah, it definately has something to do with the bluetooth settings too because when i have the audio adapter connected (Wired) to my car's aux i can push the power button all day long and no skips, and really no skips when playing songs at all in core player...maybe when a notification comes up but thats to be expected i guess

I bought the V Three BTH-18 Bluetooth Headset from expansys and I have to say that it's working very well. No problem pairing, answering or making calls with voice speed dial. Also it's very small!! (Mind you, I've not tested it with programs like coreplayer, etc, for music or movies...! I suppose I'm not interested in that feature)

the Sony DR-BT22 they fit perfect on the ears sound quality is awsome ....I know that I have a Kaiser but stereo headsets work with all devices.

BT2.0 if possible as that should theoretically support higher bitrates. The vast majority of stereo headphones are BT 1.2 however. For the most part newer 1.2 headphones will work just fine.
I have a Nokia BH-503. I think it's great (good sound, easy to use controls for music and calls, and very comfortable).
Only problem is that after I turn it off, when I turn it on, even though it reconnects in phone mode automatically, I have to manually reconnect for music. I think this is a problem with other headsets as well though.
I know I'm early to the game as not many people have this pre-launch... but for those of you who were lucky enough to get your hands on one [or if this thread persists to launch date...] :
Is it just me, or does the sound quality when streaming BT just plain awful? I can't find anywhere in the settings to adjust the EQ when on BT. I'm fearing that the sound quality was tuned specifically for the included iBeats headphones (which are pretty good so far).
I spend a lot of time commuting, and used to use my Thunderbolt as my primary music source (streaming BT to Lexus IS350, which has a great sound system)... I've spent 2 days with the Rezound, and am seriously considering going back to the TB.
Anyone having similar experience? Am I dumb and there's a setting somewhere?
well, no re:Zound here yet, but my experience using bluetooth for music just isn't as good as going through AUX.
Ive spent about $2,000 on the speakers, amps & subs in my car and tried using my TB both through AUX and BT. I found the sound quality to be noticably better with the AUX. You can get a short 3' gold tipped cable at Radio Shack for about $5 - $10.
Yeah, my wife's Bluetooth (Moto ROKR) unit does a pretty poor job of reproducing music from her phone. It's good enough for her, I guess. I have not tried the Rezound on her system yet. If I get a chance, I will let you know.
I have tried the Rezound on my Line In in my car, and the extra bass is a little annoying. I turn up the bass in my car as it is, for radio playback, CD playback, Pandora playback, etc. When I start the HTC music player, my normal bass settings add to the Beats bass amplification and things are a little over-the-top in the low end.
That's to be expected, Dan. Your car has an equalizer built in, so you're putting one eq over another. Turn beats off or use the other dolby or whatever one, then use your cars eq...or turn down your cars eq and use beats. That eq was designed for headphones, though

The thunderbolt has Bluetooth 2.1 and the Rezound has 3.0
Differences between them is 3.0 uses less power, transmits at a higher distance, but has lower quality. It really is meant for phone calls and not music, I'd suggest finding an FM transmitter or AUX line if your car has it. Both are really cheap and much higher quality than even the 2.1 bluetooth.
about the EQ bit, yeah... since i have the subs in back, i let them handle the low's 100%.. all the other speakers handle just the mids/highs.
oh and i remember when i went to get my head unit at a local car audio shop, i mentioned using blue tooth for music and the salesman gave me a strange look and stated that blue booth isn't geared towards music and said to stick with aux. heh
hey guys, i noticed that listening to music over my sony car stereo is not of great quality i tried all the settings in the sound, like clear audio etc, and dynamic settings and sound enhancement settings, i use power amp player and use music fx setting with it, also tried without it . Can someone recommend whats the best way to listen to music to over bluetooth, i also tried installing viper4android audio mod but something is putting me off when it comes to listening to music over bluetooth. my car stereo is sony bt mex5000
Try Player Pro with DSP Pack..if that doesn't do it. Plug it in with a regular cable to your car stereo and try that

Your ultra supports apt-x, so streaming over apt-x is the better bet, but not sure if your car supports it.

If you're streaming to a car stereo you have to take into account that you have 2 amps in play. You need the sound coming out of the phone as clean as possible, so turn off any enhancements including graphic equalising and just have a pure output. Otherwise you'll get double processing which will sound awful. This goes double for POWERaMP as it has probably the most powerful processing available!
Unfortunately your stereo doesn't support apt-x but you should still get good quality through a2dp.
You haven't said what's wrong with the sound though? Give a brief description.
I use mine on my parrot with PowerAmp and it sounds flawless.

interesting, i thought if i use enhancements on my phone like viper4android it will help in listening to good quality over bluetooth.
I use power amp, so you advise me to remove the also direct control from power amp, and the equaliser too from power amp, and streaming as clean as possible to my sony stereo and control the sound from there.
how about the tone on power amp and the limit on shall i turn them off too.
How bout the sony z ultra, it has sound mods too like clear audio and sound enhancement and dynamic normaliser should i turn then off too.
since i started playing with processing enhancements I started to hate listening to music altogether.
I just bought today jbl component speaker 4 of them, and jbl sub, so i would really like help in how to listen to great sound, and which player other than power amp is the best out there, i tried neutron player and i found it so difficult to get good sound out of it, especially when i played with enhancements
the sound i got before the jbls component was so muffled and so strange and irritating mids get lost, and if i turn up the mids the sound becomes so sharp and irritating to my ears.

Yeah, basically if you're outputting post processed sound to your car stereo, your stereo is doubling processing on top, so any bass or treble will be amped through the roof and so distort and hiss. Take as clean a sound into the car amp and then the amp can manage the levels properly within tolerance. Car amps are very difficult to replicate pure sound, they usually have some bias built in to make the most out of the environment and surrounding noise levels, plus they're a lot more powerful than any phone, so that's why you should rely on the stereo processing rather than amping the phone and running the stereo clean, just wouldn't have the same quality.
Also disable any Sony effects, they'll screw the output out also. Turn everything off.
Apt-x makes a big difference, so if you can, definitely look at a newer model, maybe pioneer or alpine or a high end parrot for great quality. With bluetooth, you definitely get what you pay for, so it's worth looking at the high end systems, and if possible test them out somewhere to find the one that's right for you. We've got Halfords in the UK where you can demo the systems in the shop, I'm sure there'll be something around wherever you are.

i checked the net and i could not find any car stereo that has bluetooth with aptx, so which aptx receiver shall i buy, I found so far kinivo or play puck is there something better than those, by the way i bought the sony sbh2 bluetooth headset do u think i can use it as a good receiver but it does not support aptx
today i received my sony sbh2 headset, i tried streaming music using its bleu tooth capability on my sony stereo bt mex 5100 which has bluetooth in itself. so when i compared streaming music using the bluetooth of sbh2 to my sony stereo the sound was worse than when i used the built in bluetooth of my sony stereo. I know that my shb2 does not support aptx, so I was wondering if I buy a dongle that supports aptx will it give me better sound on my sony stereo than the built in bluetooth of my sony car stereo which does not support aptx.

Hi, I bought the nord 2 a few days ago, it's a wonderful phone but I have a problem.
The bluetooth audio quality is horrible. I don't know if it's only on my device , i have tried everything, the stock Dirac hd sound does not support bluetooth devices so the sound is flat. Also it seems like it's playing music on low bit rate. I have switched from aac to sbc there's a slight difference but still it sucks. Also changing some settings in developer settings did nothing.
I have Huawei Freebuds 4I and on every other device the sound is amazing but on the nord it's awful.
Currently I'm using wavelet eq but still the music is playing at a low bit rate. I don't wanna root my phone for viper4android so is there any other solution to this?

One plus Nord 2 is a budget phone yet not cheaper than other budget phones, yet they give a low-quality device like this. Try listening in a different Bluetooth headset.
No issue here, I have samsung galaxy buds+ TWS (aac mode) and a Marshall Mid (aptx mode) and bluetooth quality is perfect in both cases.
And for the lack of Dirac support in bluetooth mode I use the app "Poweramp Equalizer" to get some more bass in my headset
For music you can try jethdaudio player. It is extremely good.
I don't know what you are talking about I am using Realme Buds Wireless 2 on my Nord 2 and it sounds amazing and I mean it since I am picky about the audio quality with negligible delay like mine cost about 1/3rd of yours so it's probably a compability issue LDAC and AAC both work great on nord 2 ofc LDAC sounds better at the cost of more battery usage....

Maybe a faulty piece really should just visit a service centre with all those headsets and see if it can be fixed if possible test out some more headsets by asking from your friends. Also check the settings of the music app you are using it's unlikely but still possible that it's set on low

Most folks dont know this, but bluetooth is a modern NAME for 'A' software version of hardware based tech capable of transmitting 240v AC through the air.
Tunguska anyone? That was the test, and the origional copywright is owned by TESLA.
Bluetooth, was designed to do the same, it's designed for AC current, explaining why bluetooth digital audio is the WORST sound ever invented.
Blutooth sounds so crap due to the following:
1: The inventors of digital audio decided to remove EVERY frequency the human ear cant hear. (according to who?)
2: They are now removing the lower base frequencies that we COULD hear, if we had say speaker's like my set of BW speaker's used by the BBC in the 60's and 70's, which can produce EVERY frequency. To make these speakers today is £14.000 PER speaker.
3: By removing all lower frequencies, they removed what is known in music, as the BODY of sound. They started this with digital techno, aka goa trance. I stopped buying musical digital instruments just because of this. If you take a 90's version of say 'Rising High's Church of Extacy' ( The tune that officially killed rock and roll due to it's pure analogue sound quality, hardness, and the deepest bass ) then play it through bluetooth, all you hear is tsstsstsstss, because the tweaters you think are great sounding speakers literally cant play anything under the highhat, without ECHO to fake the BASS.
If it's audio QUALITY you want, DROP bluetooth. Simple.
Another note:
As a dj of over 40 years in the undergound dance music scene, the one thing I cant understand is why I now have no CHOICE but to buy headphones for djing with a bluetooth mic built in! This allows whoever is spying on what we SAY to record my tune or live mix before I leave the gig, and claim it as their own. Try buying decent ANALOGUE headfones for djing.
Final note.
Nfc: the modern day verion of blutooth. Interfere's with bluetooth audio in that the AC current also has it's own magnetic field, which can, like binaural beats, interfere with bluetooth. Most fones use bluetooth AND Nfc. nae luck.
I personnaly know the best hacker in Scotland. 12 letters after his name in computer sciences...! He wrote the bluetooth app the gov called tap n trace, and he sold it to them for £30.000, they added Nfc (Near field Communication) and got most people in the world to install it in their fone. NIce one Gi88's!

I am using my Sony WH-1000XM3 and it supports LDAC. The audio quality is great with support for equaliser. The only way to get LDAC was change the mode from connection stability to sound quality mode in sony headphone app. By default, it supports SBC. Pls check your headphone's app and also check if your headphone supports relevant codec.hope this helps.
I had a similar issue with my Nord 2 and my Libratone Too BT speaker, sound was horrible, like an old cassette player. The speaker only supports the SBC codec, I think.
I was able to fix the sound quality by enabling developer options and switching to AVRCP 1.6 and MAP 1.4 there.
Update A.16 fixes Bluetooth audio.

I have noticed a number of issues with Bluetooth audio on the S23 Ultra. When using AAC codec there is an intermittent delay between the two channels (if you have bassy headphones, you'll hear the bass doubles up). The distortion is gone when using other codecs including SBC, LDAC or Samsung Seamless Codec, althoughI still run into occasional crackling in busy environments or when multitasking. While AAC might not be the best-sounding codec I never noticed this problem on my Windows 11 laptop or my Note 9. I could just resort to using the higher quality codecs but LDAC is quite unstable in congested areas like my morning commute, and Soundcore products disable multipoint when using LDAC.
I've tested this on various earbuds and headphones including Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, Sony Linkbuds S, Soundcore Space A40 and Soundcore Space Q45, all have the same problem with AAC codec. I've tried clearing the Bluetooth cache and cache partition which didn't help at all.
I also notice that quality of the sound is poor on 23ultra. I have buds pro that s used on my 10+ before 23u. After 3 weeks i still can't find proper EQ to balance the highs and mids... Whenever i touch those music start to be dull and lost dynamic. But without it mids and highs are like from very old mp3 compression. I start to believe that Samsung go cheap on amplifier on 23u. I can't enjoy the music right now. I tried AAC and SBS but same result. Also dolby atmos working wierd. When on auto i can't here any diff in movies and music. When on movies also music goes up, on music is going flat... Completely strange behave. I never have issue like that on 10+, s6edge or S5... I'm lost right now...
Using Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro I didn't notice any of the above. I did disable Dolby atmos (don't care for heavily processed music) and use the EQ that comes with a Soundcore app, not the built in.
Using wired headphones with a pretty crappy adapter ( I doubt the 32bit DAC claim ) I also got same sound as with the old S21Ultra....
Either my ears are getting old, or there isn't a noticeable difference between my 2 phones.
PS. I didn't try LDAC yet, my comments are based on using AAC.

I've tested Liberty 3 Pro and the issue I have is fairly noticeable with it, mainly due to the deep bass. It's less noticeable on the Soundcore Space A40. For some reason it seems to be doing this less often with the Linkbud S with AAC.
Test track - Grace by ADOY - there's a bit of crackling throughout the song which is normal, but the main issue is the drum hits like there are two.

Weird, I'll pay more attention and test when I get a chance.
I'm using soundcore liberty air 2 pro in ldac mode, they sound pretty good but when I go to developer settings and select ldac (it's in aac when I open device settings even tho the air 2 pros are in ldac mode) if I return to dev settings/bluetooth audio codec it's back in aac. And if ldac is selected and I tap on bluetooth audio codec when it opens aac is selected even tho it showed ldac as selected before I opened this setting. So I'm not actually sure what codec it's using.
Edit: Just had "ldac" show up in bt settings it wasn't showing before, this has sorted it . . . I think
