Anyone try app recently? I believe there was an update. If you use watch only, will it give you any audio and or visual clues to pace? Or does it just show you your distance.
What stats does it show afterwards? In NY. Way too cold for me to try outside.
Thanks

I was wondering what you noticed that gave you the impression the app had received an update? I have not noticed any audio cues while running. The biggest issue I have with Nike+ is that the GPS doesn't seem to start tracking until a half mile into each run. This happens regardless of how long I stand around in clear view of the sky waiting for a fix on my location.
I am curious how the Nike+ app is managed. It doesn't show up in the gear manager app on my phone, and there doesn't appear to be any means of managing the app (checking for updates etc.) from the Gear S itself. Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated. This is such a niche device, I can't see myself using it for anything other than running and I'm starting to think that I should have returned it and waited for another 6 models to come out. Hope Samsung can fix the GPS problems with a firmware update.
There was an update on the phone end, which I thought would communicate with the gear (in update info it mentioned gear s update).
When you run, do you have your gear network set to "always on" and Bluetooth off prior to run.? If gear network on auto, won't start independent logging (ie will use phone gps) for 1-2 minutes plus the delay to lock on
Update- went for a run today with Nike app. Before I left house I turned off bt on note 4-so phone and watch disconnected. Next I turned gear net on always and turned gps on.
Waited a few minutes before leaving house. Turned on Nike app and ran. The app did audibly (through bt earbuds) tell me to start job, so I'm shocked it doesn't update you audibly throughout run like phone app does. Disappointing but not huge.
When I would look at watch I'd see milage. It was accurate but not updated in real time. For instance I'd look down and it would say 1.5 miles, the 5 second later it would update and say 2.1 miles. It was sunny and I could see milage fine, but other data scrolled at bottom in red and hardish to read. I am unsure if it was pace, but I think one of the parameters was time/mile - during my run this was WAY OFF (unless I misread it) - after run my pace listed was accurate... So have to recheck this.
I did not have any issues with app starting tracking 5 minutes later.
Battery on 40 minute run went down 30%. I had to be reachable by text so I had gear network always on.... Wondering if I can use Nike app with just gps on, and gear net off (for half and full marathons - otherwise the battery won't last!).
The one thing that is necessary (i think) is to disconnect the gear from the phone before run, or else the gear will use your phone gps to show no movement until it transfers over to watch (which takes a few minutes).
Will try health app. Wishing for audible alerts or clearer and accurate pace stats.
Nike app disappointing also battery life

I just got this watch yesterday. Tried running with it today. Didn't do anything special, not even check which background app's were running. Used the Nike app. Very disappointing... I really need to see the pace but the only thing I could read on the display were the large distance numerals, no alerts. I also did some playing around making and receiving voice calls, and having someone at home with my phone use the AT&T Mobile Locate to find where I was. Other than the Nike app. all worked great, except my 8 mile, 1:15:25 run took the battery from near 100% to 18%. I hope I can improve this. My main reason for getting this was to combine the function of a GPS watch with a phone for marathons and half marathons so I could call/find people after the race (especially at big events like next Boston). I need to get at least 5 hours battery since I usually finish 3:40 to 3:50.
I did have the HR recording on (didn't see a way to cancel it in Nike), this may have added battery drain. Also the pedometer function was evidently running since the display came up a few times, as noted above I didn't cancel running app's. I looked at Power Saver mode, but it appears the GPS and 3G may not function in that mode.
I'm going to try S-Health because it has a pace display, and I don't need Facebook cheers (really?) or music. Hopefully it is less of a battery hog.
It was cold out today, but not extreme (30F, 21F windchill) which may have had an effect.
I have 14 days (12 left) to return with re-stocking fee to ATT, so will kick the tires hard. Any advice will be appreciated. I guess I could always wear my Garmin FR220 on one arm and this on the other, and just use it as a phone/after-race navigator/contactor. Still better tha carrying my Note 3 in an armband (they actually don't make one stock to fit it), or risk bouncing it around in a sweaty fanny pack.
Bottom line, my opinion of the Nike app is "not good".
Try it with gear net off but gps on. After race can turn gear net on and make the call. Yeah I was in Baltimore this year and walked around freezing looking for others for too long.
Also agree. The s health may prove better for pace (most important) can swipe to side to see it. Wish it had audio alerts but I can live with looking down at wrist here and there.
another update:ran with shealth today....again 30+mins and again 20% battery gone...not good!
had gear net OFF and gps ON (naturally)- I am now going to try
a) removing motion that turns on watch when i swing hand up (although I like this to quick glance while running and every time i did it the screen did go from off to on...so not thinking this will help)- remote possibility screen is on for most of run (dont think so).
b) need to figure out how to turn off the unwanted HR sensor...so useless and i think is killing battery!!!
c) turn brightness down lower.
the pace on shealth was just as useless as nike app as its INSTANT while gps is pulsatile....still no SPLIT paces or audio paces...thats what i want
I went for 3 hour walk/run with GPS and gear network both on and the battery was at 30% when I got home. Not bad!
Bought new Amazfit Bip recently to replace Pebble. Great watch with amazing battery life, but the Bluetooth connection to my phone (Nexus 6P) drops randomly dozens of times a day even when within close range (less than 2m with direct line of sight). Anybody had similar problems with this watch? If so then it's a real design issue. No similar issues with Pebble - always good up to 5m+.
Try to install amazfit watch app on your phone again. It's an error of this app, sometimes, it'll make your watch battery drain quickly.
Make sure you allowed the app that runs on phone to stay running in the background, give it permission to access notifications and remove it from battery saving configurations. If you still have problem, some people related issues with WiFi/Bluetooth signal conflict, you may want to test with WiFi off, or better yet airplane mode and only BT on. If it still doesn't work, test with another Bip, yours may have a hardware issue (my first pace had no GPS signal, and both WiFi and BT were very weak, constant connection drops when using a BT headset, for instance).
I have the Xiaomi Amazfit Stratos watch, which worked well with my old Mi A1. However, since getting the Poco F1 notifications to the watch do not work (unless the app is open in the foreground). In addition, the VW Connect app (also a background app that uses GPS and connects automatically) did not pick up any trips made since using pairing with the new phone....
This made me think it was something to do with the MIUI battery saver settings. Since then I have changed the settings on both these apps to 'No restrictions' and it has made a slight improvement (I would say about 50% of the notifications are making it to the phone now). So I am at a bit of a loss now....
You would assume that a smartwatch made by Xiaomi would work seamlessly with a phone of the same manufacturer.... but it seems not!
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Hi All.
I recently got an Amazfit Stratos and I am having a horrible time trying to gps track my outdoor cycle.
I have tried twice, and both times, the GPS just either:
*Intermittently records data
or
*stops recording gps data altogether.
Basic questions?
Urban areas and Woods... same issue
Urban areas are residential.. no high tall building
Weather was good on both occasions
Yes I am waiting for GPS lock
Heart rate and time measurement continue flawlessly (shows data for the entire ride). It's just GPS tracking that is totally weird.
P.S. It's not "drifting" or inaccurate.. it seems to only switch on the gps sporadically... recording "every now and then"...
No errors or issues reported during the activity.
Latest Firmware (Although last nights a new firmware popped up, haven't tried the activity with last night's firmware.)
Both previous activities was on latest firmware at the time. (Yesterday and the day before)
And the REAL issue for me really, is that my wife's Pace records perfectly on the exact same routes where my Stratos just can't get anything usable going...
I have logged "feedback" request with logs using the app, but have not had any response other than, thanks.. we may use your feedback in the future...
From my own conclusions, the gps works.. because when it tracks... the location where it tracks is accurate.. it just doesn't track constantly. See my attached screenshot of my last ride. (Where my wife and her Amazfit pace tracked perfectly)
Any Ideas?
Cant add the image due to post count... How do I add it to this post?
Have you tried factory reset of the watch? Procedure is to unpair it from the app, it will reset itself, start fresh clean and ask for a pairing.
After pairing it will load last 7 days of your work, while all other old data will remain in the app, on your Mi account cloud. What you will have to add separately are only the 3rd party watchfaces, if you have installed them before.
Strongly suggest you try this first, it takes 5 minutes of your time, and you will lose no data.

Thanks Nidza. I will surely try this. I have not yet as the watch is brand new. Upon receiving it It upgraded firmware 3 times from out of the box, and then I started using it.
I will give it a try, surely cant hurt.
Well what do you know. That factory reset seems to have done the trick!
Thanks!
Some points worth noting:
from the factory settings, a few watch settings did not pull through from the sync back to the app after factory reset.
Time format: My previous time format was 24h (Doubt that makes a difference)
Auto Sync: After factory reset, auto sync is off (I had it "on" before). Can't say if this actually causes any bugs to pop up? Maybe the watch tried to sync which interfered with gps functions? I used it yesterday with auto sync off and it worked well. I will investigate if auto sync on causes the GPS issue again.
Thanks again.
Hi guys, is it normal, that my Stratos's Gps show me the speed to much delayed. I checked it with my car, and the gps gets to the same speed as my phone's one, but maybe 10 seconds later. By skiing it can mean worse maximum speed measurement. It is like that with all the Amazefit Startos watches or I have a wrong one? Thanks for the answers!
It's not the same sampling frequency for a car as it is for a walking man. Watch gps do not need to detect non-human speeds, so there is a lower sampling. (Slower).
Same issue again FW version 4.2.8.0:
stops recording gps data altogether after a few minutes.
I've reset and unpaired the clock twice but the issue remains.
Any advice?
Hello everybody!
I recently bought an Amazfit Stratos 3 to replace my amazing Stratos 2, since it's battery died after 2 years. And although my almost immediate regret (the 2 was pretty much indestructible, the 3 already has marks with just one week), there is a annoying connection issue: every so often it simply disconnects from my Poco F1! My phone is also not on stock ROM but it was only when it arrived, so I'm excluding that as an possible cause. I've had that issue on the latest stock ROM and also on the Paceficator ROM from Saratoga. It gets me mad since what is the use on a smartwatch that, randomly, disconnects from my phone? Any other Stratos 3 users with this issue? Or is just mine and should I get it to warranty? Just for reference, with the Stratos 2 it was almost shocking how far I could get from the phone without losing connection, let alone being near to it and with the Stratos 3 I find myself with my phone on my pocket and with the smartwatch disconnected!
Thank you all for your help!

I'm sorry, I'm not getting what you want to say.
Hello,
I notice almost the same. There is of course the option on the watch to get notified when it disconnects from the phone but I also see that "find phone feature" is not working good anymore. Sometimes, I'm in line on sight at 2-3m from the phone, and the "find phone" option is not successfull. Watch is saying "Not connected to App, unable to find phone". So definietly, the watch is loosing the connection with the phone/Zepp app.
To answer Winni21, Zepp is in "no restriction" in battery saving. Is this what you mean by "configure Zepp not to go to sleep"? It is true that if Zeep goes to sleep, "find phone" and bluetooth migh disconnect quickly. Please, clarify what you mean "not going to sleep" if possible

Hi! I've used both options on Zepp's battery options, with no sucess. But I do notice that if I turn on location with the GPS the connection is almost instant! But I'm not willing to have location on all the time...
I have started getting the same connection issues. I didn't have this problem before or at least I didn't notice. Enabling the anti-lost phone feature reveals the watch is constantly loosing connection.
In my case I noticed the problem via the notifications (started to come with a delay and very often repeated) Seems like when the watch looses connection (or when it reconnects) old notifications are displayed.
