Welcome People I have been along time reader and have been installing roms since HTC Titan.
I love to announce that will be starting a new project that will tie into Google Voice-mail Services. Right now Google can only send text messages and email message to people to let them now that if they have a voice mail. That is not good enough.
When I was trying to make a Microsoft Exchange Server talk to a PBX, I notice that I lost the ability called MWI (Message Waiting Indicator). There is the same feature with in the Windows Mobile Framework. When your voice-mail gets forwarded to Google it can't trip the Message Waiting Indicator on our Windows Mobile Phones. So here is an service application that will do that for us.
I hope that with a little more time in development I will be-able to release some kind of open-beta. Right now how the service is setup it does get called all the time when the device sleeps.

YouMail is awesome (better than Google?). I hope if u can get the reminders working for Google, u could get the reminders to work with Youmail as well, which is the same thing.

Youmail I have never heard of it. I went to there website and looks like they have an developers API, that allows up to query there servers about voice messages, and return that information in xml. so looks like im going to retool this application into a multi service application.
hi, I'm not familiar with Android, but when I used WM, my old phone had HTC Sense too
And made an editing of registry key, I could force the phone to mark a new SMS
as read after few seconds, when I just looked on Sence SMS widget, not even
opening SMS app...
Is it possible to get the same functionality on 3vo? Stock rom for now.

First, welcome to Android! I switched from WM almost 2 yrs ago and haven't looked back!
Interesting registry setting on WM. I haven't heard of or seen anything for the Android. Android def doesn't have a register as its based on linux and not windows. Also, as a technical sidenote regarding how Android functions, the system sends a broadcast when a text message is received. Any application can grab this broadcast and use it to trigger an action. The messages are usually stored in an sqlite database on the device by each messaging app. Marking the message as read after a set time interval does sound like a simple request. I would suggest looking through the Android Market as I would think there would be a solution there.
There are also 3rd party messaging apps so the user isnt *stuck* using the stock messaging app. Perhaps one of the popular 3rd party messaging apps provide this setting.

Thanks for reply! I know the basics
But keeping an application which is monitoring messages all the time to clear the status
seems not the best solution.
I thought that Sense for Android can make it itself, as Sense for WM can do this!
Probably, as well as on WM, it needs a little tweak
I have searched many forums and the market to no avail so I was hoping someone here could help.
Is there any way we, android users, can get a function similar to iOS4 users with their "group mms" option. To those of you not familiar, its basically a chat room like feature that uses your text messages. For example, if I were to create a new text on the iphone, I could add more people to it. Once it's sent out, if anyone replies, that reply will go to all of those in the group and so forth. In essence, a chat room is created where everyone receives a copy of everyone else's text.
At any rate, a few of my friends have iphones and I was hoping to be able to communicate with them in such a manner but neither the stock messaging application or handcent has this function. The few options that might work would involve having all of my friends download some new app along with myself and even that doesn't work all the time.
ANY help would be much appreciated.

Basically it comes down to not being able to be part of a group MMS if you are not the sender.
iOS attaches all users in a group message to the header of an MMS message, and when this message is received on an android device the receiver can only see the sender, not the other people in the conversation. So, when the android user tries to reply to this message it only gets sent to the originator of the group message instead of all of the users in the group.
Currently, there is an application that handles this functionality and it is the Verzion Messages application. However, this application is out-dated and is missing other messaging features.
AT&T also has an application that addresses this issue, however, not many people have had success with it. At least for me, using my Galaxy Nexus on AT&T (4.0.2), the application opens and only shows a blank screen.
Can we get a developer to modify a current texting application, or create a new one that handles group MMS that recognizes all users of the group and will send a reply to everyone, not just the originator?
NOTE: Some other 3rd party texting applications allow group texting, but will only work if you are the originator.
How many other people have run into this issue?
I have run into the exact same issue. I have spent hours researching various workarounds, but a lot of people, forum topics, and companies think this issue isn't an issue at all. Handcent, Chomp, and Go SMS all say they have "group" messaging, but what they describe is more like a batch send out, not a threaded sms like the iphone and even now Verizon phones through the Verizon Messages Application.
I know there is an open ticket with google that is mentioned in the forum you linked to. I'm a new user so I can't link to it, but it is mentioned and linked to in post #92 on that forum you linked.
Hopefully someone or one of the bigger companies will get a handle on this.
I also would like to see this addressed. With many friends/family with iPhones it is crippling my texting abilities when I get so many group sms chats. Basically from an OS perspective it is making users of Android phones appear inferior to iPhone users.
I was looking into this today after becoming annoyed that i couldn't join a group mms thread w/ some iOS friends. It seems Verizon's VZMessages app works with the threaded group mms's. I did some tests w/ both iphone and android friends and it seems to work the same as for iphones. Since it's a vzw app, i have no idea what usability is for other carriers, and i've had some issues on my rooted dinc (display artifacts). Also, the design is terrible and looks like their target user is about 5 years old w/ all the bright primary colors and bubbly icons.
try it out and let me know how it works for you guys.

Not sure if you guys saw this yet, but in the development section trikotret updated the handcent app to handle the iphone like group texts. I just installed it to try it out. I can't post links yet either but it the thread title is "Handscent Android group chat like iPhone"

we had a text clan, or a group of people in a texting community, kinda popular here in the philippines. i've been looking for an app like those but nothing suits what we need. i tried groupme, but it crashes and needed to be online, also a force close issue in handcent which claims to have this feature. we used to do a traditional GMs or Group Messages in a send to many or batch mode only to send all GMs (equivalent to tweets in online world) to all our members. but as an android user i want to take advantage of it. here's the thing to address:
1. an app for sms/mms like gosms or equivalent.
2. this app can have a unified inbox. something like ChatOn or Socialhub of samsung but still integrated offline sms/text to local contacts.
2. options to offline only or if online.
3. group local/offline chat (threaded style, not just a batch send
4. whenever someone replied that is included in the group, it is in the same thread. or for short, sms with 2 or more person in a single thread locally.
5. even non android or typical mobile phone can receive it as a text message. so even nokia 5110 user can reply, ofcourse he will only receive what is sent to him. not always the entire thread content.

Verizon Messaging works for me
GoSMSpro has a setting for this. Under send settings enable MMS grop chat.
handcent works ok for this but i'm in disbelief that it hasn't been addressed by google yet. did apple patent this feature or something?

Hi Folks. First of all, I'm new here. I just created a profile to suggest you the following:
Pushbullet; it's an app that allows you to send and receive notifications, links, files, etc, between devices.
So, I was thinking if maybe somebody knows a way around to use this app as a substitute for the Osmart Companion, that doesn't work so well and also depends completely on bluetooth. I'm using it right now to manually send stuff from my smartphone to the TrueSmart, but I just found out that Pushbullet now supports Tasker integration, what makes me think that, if you know how, it is possible to create a profile on Tasker that allows you to automatically send a notification to your TrueSmart whenever you receive a SMS, for example.
However, despite being a huge fan of android and apps in general, my programming skills sucks really bad, even at Tasker, which I guess must be programming for beginners.
Has anyone already tried to do something related? Please let me know.

I haven´t try that app, but I´m using 'Notisync' and, at least for me and until now, it´s working. The only one thing I don´t have got: automatically unlock the screen (I´m using Oclock) and show a window with the notification content in. For this, I´m using 'Notify me!' app. It turns on the screen, but not unlock it (it only shows the notification content if the screen is already on). I continue investigating .

I have tried many apps and so far at least this one tells me when someone is calling, i cant get it to alert me of texts though, i use hangouts as my text service default app but i even tried the standard messages app and it still doesnt allow the texts to go through, did you have to do anything special for the texts?
as for pushbullet i started messing with it the other day but all it does it notify my watch that theres a message waiting on my phone i still need to look at the phone to see/reply to the message.
figured out a way with pushbullet and tasker to show who the text is from and what the message said, now if only there was a way to reply

I don´t use SMS and never try that. But I tried an app called 'Tablet talk' that can syncronize SMS and phone calls (even when you receive phone call, it shows a window showing the contact photo and bottons to interact with that call). I configured the phone as 'phone' and the watch as 'tablet'. The problema I had was the same: it doesn´t unlock the Oclock screen.

Yeah i've been a user of tablet talk for a while and it is a good app just looking for others since i dont like always having to reconnect them together.

I contacted the developers of Push Bullet a few weeks ago when I got my TS. He indicated that it was a space they wanted to occupy for wearables and tablets. They have a number of things they're rolling out for their primary app first, but it's on the slate for the future.

how did you guys get it to install? Side load? It wont let me install from the play store since it says it is incompatible with device. I love pushbullet, and would love to use it with the TS

For sms I have been using google voice, hangouts and the XVoice+ Xposed plugin. here's how it works:
1) I have moved most people to use mt GV number to reach me as I have several PH numbers so step one is socialize the GV ph number.
2) XVoice+ forces all sms through the google voice app
3) in the google voice app > Settings > Sync and Notifications set recieve text messages to "via the messaging app.
4) if you want to use hangouts go through the steps to make it the default SMS/MMS client otherwise you can use what ever SMS app you want.
default result is I get the same conversation on my phone as on my PC as on my watch. For me this works out well.. the only issues i have are broadcast messages that are short message based like twitter to sms. Google Voice will not support these messages.

My wife's s21 recently (one or two months) stopped receiving verification text messages from banks/SS etc. When the target phone number is changed to MY phone the messages come through just fine. We are both on AT&T and have the latest Samsung software (mine is a Note 20). We've made sure that there are no blocked numbers in her contacts.
Is there a SIM based setting that can cause this?
Can the carrier block MMS on her line from commercial sources? She can receive MMS from personal contacts.
We've been through the Samsung/AT&T tech support gauntlet but so far have not found the right person to help.
Try installing The Google - developed Messages app on the problem phone and making it the default SMS client.
What app is this???

Well I tried the Google Messages App and still had the same difficulty
I've had trouble using Google Message's "Chat features", also known as Rich Communication Services (RCS), when my virtual private network (VPN) is active. If I stop or pause using the VPN then RCS seems to work. But with my VPN active the "Status" under Chat features shows "Connecting...". Given the choice between VPN and RCS, I've decided VPN is more useful. So I turn off "Enable chat features."
Try searching using term "Android" "RCS" and "VPN" and you may hit some useful links to read. If you do not use a VPN then you can probably ignore my entire posting.
I just want to be sure: have you made sure that you have made the Google Messages app the default client?
Go into the App Info for Messages.
And then tap on "Messaging app"
Be sure that you have selected the correct icon. (For some dumb reason there is no text to identify the names or developers of the respective messaging apps.)
