Stable ROM for ANE-LX1 to be used as daily driver - Huawei P20 Lite Questions & Answers

How does LiR 18.1 GSI compare to official lineage 16.0? Are there any major bugs in either? How do they compare in regards to battery life and overall performance? How is performance compared to stock EMUI?

I am running LIR 312 as a daily driver. It the first few days the battery usage was enormous, it did not last a full day. That may be because of all the app installations, setting tweaking, downloads, etc. Strange thing was the battery usage was huge even when I did not use the phone. But after a few days everything went back to normal, battery usage is similar than in stock. For my use the performance is similar than in stock. That said that is enough for me.
As for stability and bugs I did not yet find anything that would affect me. After installing NFC patch I have working all of my banking apps. I do not need super-fast charging so I did not test that. The offline charging does not work, but I can not see why would I need that.
While using CAOS11 I noticed that sometimes I lost all phone connections. That did not happen using LIR, but on CAOS it started appearing after several weeks of usage, so I have to wait a little longer to be sure.
As I am not power user, perhaps somebody else could give a more detailed answer...

Which ROM for best performance & battery life?

Hi everyone,
I'm currently ussing the back-to-n00t v9 ROM (KitKat) together with Boeffla Kernel for a pretty long time. It was good at the beginning, although the rom had a few bugs (like the mobile data button not working sometimes and roaming mode disabling when disabling data causing roaming warnings). But for some time already, I'm getting kinda frustrated. The phone likes to lag sometimes, like when going out of some app to the home screen and everything loads again causing a terrible lag, or all the apps close in the background. Also many times when I want to unlock the phone I have to wait a few seconds because nothing works (can't draw the pattern). I'm looking for some simple ROM (not any Marshmallow stuff etc, I want to maintain stability and performance). I'd love to get some better performance, without lagging and having problems with the keyboard (like it's not showing because of low RAM or stuff like that). I'd also like to get some good battery life althought this isn't that of a priority because I have 2 batteries.
I don't want to flash Cyanogenmod because I want to keep the TouchWiz camera and stuff.
Which ROM would you suggest me? I saw some website recommending Revolutionary S5, although I don't like the idea of trying to make an old phone like the some new model, they claim it's super smooth and optimised. Is that true? I don't want to waste any more RAM because of some ****ty features from S5 that I'll never use.
Thanks in advance! Hope you can help me.
same here, I use RR + boeffla but it is sucking one and half battery a day, inactivity battery consume is the same as Whatsapp I use a lot, it seems to be active when not active.
Same problem with Lineage 14.1
Best ROM for me was a stock rooted ROM with unnecessary apps disabled.

Best miui version with best battery backup pure stock

I read some comments that they used to get 8-9hrs of SOT, some said they could manage to get 10 or more hours on SOT, so ive been thinking on creating thread to get some info on what version of miui is the best for battery backup, ive used miui7 and yeah i got 8hrs of SOT back then, miui8 is pretty fast on battery drain, so can i have something on you guys? what version is good on battery backup?
I don't think there's a simple answer to your question. Everyone's use of the phone is different.
Playing games uses more battery than browsing or watching YouTube.
4G uses more battery than 3G.
3G uses more battery than WiFi.
Bad mobile signal uses more battery than good signal.
Setting the brightness higher uses more battery than setting it low.
Overclocking uses more battery than running at stock speed.
MIUI 8 uses more battery than MIUI 7.
So there is really no way to objectively compare SOT between users.
I never managed to empty the battery of my phone in one day, no matter what I was doing.
And as long as you come home in the evening and still have battery left, you shouldn't worry about other people's screen on times.
But do you even need to use MIUI? I have used both MIUI 7 and 8, for many months and I used to think that the user experience was pretty great till I installed an Android 7 rom here from XDA, Slim 7. Only then I understood what a great experience this phone can offer. I have been using Nitrogen OS for close to two months now, and not only does it have all the customization options I need, my phone is smooth as a flagship and I get 10-11 hours of screen on time regularly, with heavy use.
You could use a Marshmallow ROM if you really need a perfectly stable camera, but the camera works 9 out of 10 times anyway.
Custom ROMs are better in every way than MIUI.
Now im on miui7.5.30 battery back up is pretty good. I love aosp based rom but suddenly my fp breaks on NOs, dont know why, since then i get bootloop when i installed custom roms so i settled now in miui
I love aosp to but alarm dont work when turn off phone. And that is important to me.

[Galaxy A40] Battery discharging quickly with Pie - Solution or donwgrade to Oreo

Good afternoon,
I'm new to this forum and I don't know if I'm posting in the appropriate section. Please, relocate my post if necessary.
I'm quite a newbie regarding phone hacks but I can make my way through the various general processes related to phone updates.
I recently updated my Galaxy A40 to Pie (A405FNXXU2ASJ1, Oct. 2019) [update: after checking on the official Samsung website, I updated the original April version of Pie with the August update and the battery issue started aftewards] and the battery started discharging way faster since then. I'm really not satisfied with this issue and I would like to do something to solve or improve battery life.
I tried Package Disable Pro and disabled a few apps and packages, although I don't really know which services to disable exactly. I also added most apps to the standby app list in the developer options, but it didn't improve the situation as much as I expected. I used to charge my phone every 24 hours or so with Wi-Fi on all the time, no Bluetooth or NFC.
Would anyone have an idea to get a similar battery life (charge once per 24 hours) or explain to me how to restore Oreo (downgrade or flash).
Thank you very much for your help
Weird. My Pixel XL is experiencing slightly better battery performance on Pie. I OTA updated from Oreo.

Well, as regards Galaxy A Series, numerous forums evoke a decrease in the battery performances probably due to some bugs in the update energy management pattern.
The problem is that I had to change the phone to night mode and also charge a black theme in order to slow down the battery leakage while in use.

[Discussion] I feel like Xiaomi is throttling devices running miui?

Just wanna say in the beginning, this is nothing more than a gut feeling.
I have been using many custom roms by different developers running different android versions.
Quite a few months ago, I switched to miui because I was having some issues with than current pie roms, and I wanted a stable system. And I stuck with it till now because I am at home and limited internet. It was noticably slow and janky from the start but I kept using it, because it was stable.
Finally, my patience gave out, and I installed Havoc 3.3 (Android Q by sairam60 ), and it is insanely smooth compared to what I got used to.
Now, let me explain further. My device performs better, charges faster, and pubg performace went from unplayable to bearable. Other thing I noticed, that the device gets somewhat warm and battery drains faster, which is didn't happen on miui. This led me to believe that miui might be throttling the SoC and charging (for some reason).
Or maybe miui is just hopelessly bloated? Or the rom has the soc overclocked or something?
What do you guys think?
That's been the case for a while now and not just limited to land. Its an oft repeated complaint from MIUI users that performance becomes worse with newer updates just after the 1 year mark. Dunno if its deliberate or just plain negligence.
Anyways I would highly recommend Fork LOS 17.1 by Sairam. Its perhaps the most fluid ROM ever for land. Its based on 4.9 kernel so a few quirks can be expected considering it's only a few builds old. Personally I didn't encounter any issue other than RAM usage was a tad high for 2GB variant esp. since LOS is so lightweight usually. Customization is minimal but a few useful extras have been added. Battery backup was pretty good and on par with Havoc 2.9. To be fair the battery in my device is degraded so most ROMs give similar bb.

You did the right thing for leaving memeui on this phone,
+ 1 for what the dude above said, fork los 17.1 4.9 sairam or any roms based on it have better performance for pubg/codm gaming, excellent battery life too

Idle drain issues on custom ROMs

Hello all,
I tried all the custom ROMs available and they seem to have a high idle drain. I am loosing usually 10-20% per day which is extremely high in my opinion.
The Paranoid Android and Arter97's software collection seems to be slightly better but that is Android Pie based.
Is Android 10 the actual problem for the drain? Do you have any suggestions on how to fix it?
I never tried MIUI so I do not know how is the idle drain on the official OS but I had a Lenovo Tab 4 8" plus before and it was barely loosing 1% per day.
I hope I can find a good setup because at the moment there are not many options for a good 8" tablet. Even the Mediapad M6 8.4" is not produced anymore.
Any feedback is welcome. Thanks!
Edit: I forgot to mention that I use f2fs partitions on data and cache. I am not sure if that could cause any issue but on other devices I never noticed battery drain because of it.

yes. I'm facing same issue too. performance is owesome but idle battery got problem. have been try all android 10 for clover. all of them have the same issue . I don't think android 10 causes the problem because my lavender on miui android 10 battery life very good.
Turning off wifi works for me. When I do not need the device I just turn it off and the battery lasts much longer then when idle. have not really looked into it but I guess it is related to data usage or device not going to "deep" sleep
Yes, I had this issue with many custom roms, except Carbon rom. I've been running Carbon rom since I found this rom didn't have that issue, though it has less features than most of other roms

Yup, I second that. Also using carbon rom and idle drain is good
If you're using magisk then v20.4 have higher battery drain during idle. Try v20.3
