Pixel 3 bootloop issues solved - Google Pixel 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Moderator Information
The average user should not try disassembling Pixel devices (especially without detailed instructions), the Pixel 3 is not capable of battery share, and most bootloops can be fixed with a factory reflash.

Hy guys how r u all .
Today i get rid of bootloop issue on my pixel 3 ..
If you are facing bootloop issue on pixel 3 and you have tried everything that u can but still no luck than try these methods ..
Method 1 FACTORY RESET YOUR PHONE 3 TO 4 TIMES THEN PLUG OTG CONNECTOR INTO PIXEL 3 AND TRY TO CHARGE ANY OTHER DEVICE FROM YOUR PIXEL 3 THROUGH THE OTG CONNECTOR , NOW TURN ON THE PIXEL 3 HOPEFULLY IT WIL TRUN ON . IT NOT THAN TRY IT 2 TO 3 TIME IT WILL TURN ON .
IF STILL NO LUCK THAN TRY THIS METHOD ..
METHOD 2 OPEN THE BACK OF YOUR PIXEL 3 , UNPLUG THE FRONT CAMERA STRIPS , BATTERY STRIP ..
NOW PLUGIN THE BATTERY STRIP AND CANERA STRIPS AND TURN ON HOPEFULLY IT WILL TRUN ON. IF STILL NO LUCK THAN REMOVE THE FRONT CAMERA STRIPS AND DONOT PLUGIN THE CAMERA STRIPS NO TRUN ON HOPEFULLY IT WIL TURN ON ..

I DO NOT recommend following these instructions. Disassembling your device may cause irreparable damage.
Performing factory reset more than once doesn't do anything. Once /data is wiped, there is no point to wiping it again. If you're stuck with a bootloop on an unlocked bootloader, simply reflash /boot; if that doesn't work, dirty flash the factory image.
If you're stuck with bootloop on a locked bootloader and a factory reset doesn't fix it, your device will need to be RMA'd.
The Pixel 3 is not capable of sharing battery with external devices.
Last, but certainly not least, it is EXTREMELY UNWISE to try to disassemble modern devices, as many single use adhesives are involved, and there are too many delicate parts that can be easily destroyed.

[Q] S2 slowly dying

After a night time charge, my phone started to perform strange and I can't seem to get out of the situation.
It started with the temperature display showing on the battery when turning on. I am unable to start the phone, without it being connected to a powered on charger.Without a powered cable in, it just powers off, then goes back to the battery / temp display.
Upon starting, the phone runs fine, apart from the fact that it thinks there is something plugged into the USB port. This sometimes shows itself as the phone thinking it's still being charged to it thinking it's plugged in as a USB data connection. The USB port has been cleaned with the same outcome.
The phone can go from showing 0% charge to being flagged up as fully charged in under 10 minutes. Power the phone off and it will revert to charging as normal.
I'm unable to connect Odin to reflash as the USB port is detected as "unknown" device and I've tried this on numerous machines with the same outcome.
I'm unable to boot into recovery mode with clockworkmod, this coming up with the standard samsung boot options.
Is there a rom that I can copy over the phone, that will pass the Samsung validation check for ROM installation with the Down / power / action button combo.
I getting a bit frustrated with this at the moment, so any help advised will be great.
Cheers
Same thing happened to me, kinda, flash hyperdroid 4.0,you won't be sorry and it'l fix your. Problem.

try cleaning the usb port mate if it has dirt/dust/fluff in there it can cause big issues http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1132588 that thread may help a bit
it could also be abad battery causing issues
i would try
#reading that thread and trying the fixes
#putting phone back to stock ie factory reset or flahing a new rom and kernel
#ordering a new battery
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Clean Slate for those that balls up the firmware or to eliminate hardware /firmware problems /return under warranty .
Backup data first if phone is working .
Boot CWM recovery
Mounts and Storage
Format cache data system sd card .
Remove battery
Boot to download mode
Open Odin
Install correct stock firmware .
Still problems use usb jig to set rom counter to zero .
Return to service centre .

Cheers for all the info so far.
Things tried.
Different battery
USB port cleaned with isopropyl alcohol with both Qtip and new tooth brush.
Numerous factory resets
Battery left out for an hour for full reset
Wipes with CMW recovery with SD card in and Out
I am unable to connect to a machine, so I am unable to use Odin to reflash.
I've just ordered a Jig, so will try that as soon as it arrives.
I'll try the hyperdroid 4.0. Does that flash ok with the stock bootloader as the CWM recovery does not boot, even though the phone is rooted ok.

Well an update to my issues.
The Jig turned up today, after two inserts the usb port occasionally was detected correctly. This gave me enough time to reload the kernal.
After another Jig reset (successfull this time) I was able to connect to Odin and reflash the handset.
The battery is still reporting funny things (goes from 60% to full in 5 minutes or charges normally) so I'll be doing a few more resets / wipes and reinstallations to see if I get to a normal place.
Thanks for all your help.
I have the similar problem as yours.
From time to time the phone thinks its connected to USB.When this happenes I get a "Batery Overvoltaged" reading using Batery Spy App. And I can't connect to my PC using USB. The other thing happening is the phone is waking up as soon as I turn it off and if I try to turn it off again it freezes and u need to reset or pull the batery out. I though I solved the problem when I left the phone off without batery for 12 hours but that only worked for a day and now it started again this time it switches to driving mode on and off, and USB connection. I tried Hard reset ,reverting to a stable ROM with CWM , cleaning the port with alcohol, puting the phone without the back cover and the battery in a bowl of rice for 12hours(water damage?) , cleanng caches, battery stats, different kernels, removed the SD card.
I don't know what trigers this but it drains battery fast and I too had the batery going from 30% to zero in a flash and the fast charginng atleast once. Couple of times the phone even started by itself when inserted back the batery...
Please keep me posted with your progress, I surfed google and found this particular problem several times in other places so it happens more often than I though, but no one posted a fix, or atleast what is causeing the problem

Dell Streak 5 ,,Ant-War" Problem

Hello!
Since yesterday i´ve a problem with the Streak 5.
It didn`t boot right.
Theres just after the dell logo the ,,Ant-War" screen (see in the picture).
I've tried everything.
Flashing the original Rom / recovery ,.... QDL repair-tool ,....
I hope you can help me !!!
mammut
same thing happened to me, turned out the ribbon cable of the screen didn't connect properly to the mainboard.
what worked for me was to release the cable(flipping that brown part what holds it).
whenever i had the ribbon cable properly attached and locked, it wouldn't work and i would have the same screen after the Dell logo.
only after i had unlocked the connector it would work.

in my opinion it's definitely not software related, because i had the same issue and tried everything software related(from changing roms, to QLD-repair tool with different roms, recoveries and trying to mess with fastboot).
only thing that made a difference and worked, was to flip the brown thing of the connector on the mainboard, and i had to tape the ribbon cable to the mainboard to let it stay in place.
u could also test ofcourse the screen by going into fastboot and typing *#301#, and then 03 (color). if it gives a failure (TE Fail) or hangs, it's a hardware failure.
yes when i start up fastboot theres the message TE Fail ....
what can i do ?
Flipping up the clip didn't work
EDIT: I changed the LCD a few days ago
Pass the test

[Q] Battery Issue

Hey, This is my first post so hopefully i didnt pick the wrong section to write in
So here it is.. A while ago my phone started acting crazy.. voice command started up.. turned off, started up again.. MTP started ( like i was plugging in USB cable) on and off and on and off again.. This was after i had rooted my phone for the first time.. but i was on stock rom at that point when all happend..
Now when im trying to charge my phone it takes like 30-60 sec till it starts charging.. same when i unplug the phone, takes 30-60 seconds for the phone to realise that there is no cable connected to the phone..
Can't turn off the phone.. when i turn it off its black for a few seconds then the samsung logo pops up and the phone boots up again.. and some times when i turn off the phone the battery logo appears and it shows that the battery is over heated..
This is what i have tryed:
- Re flashing, alot of diffrent roms
- Factory reset
- Format System, sd card, data
- Flash back to stock rom
Thx / Wrix
I remember seeing this issue in a few threads last year. Check this thread out as it lokos to be the same issues they were having http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1174291&page=6
It seems some had to return their device and others were able to get it working again by cleaning out the micro usb port with a toothbrush. Worth trying. If nothing works, maybe you will have to return it. Hopefully not though
Thx alot.. Will take a look at the link you posted and see if there is something i can do to fix this issue.. hopefully i wont have to send it in to repair cuz i have rooted it.. dunno if samsung can see that if i use USB Jig ? hopefully not but will try with toothbrush to see if it works!
Again thx alot for the advices
EDIT: Toothbrush didnt work at all ;(
/Wrix
Just make sure you reset the counter and you should be fin returning it.
Your device should still be under warranty. I'd wipe, flash the stock ROM that you had on it when you bought it and use the jig if you have one. Then see about getting it returned. Good luck!

[Ulefone Metal 4G] Bricked / Dead or ?

Hi,
I am posting here for the first time here, even though I have been following and enjoying XDA for many years.
But for now I am looking for some advice/help to troubleshoot the phone of my child
and here are the details you sould know about :
- Phone model : Ulefone Metal 4G (not the Lite version)
- Problem description : Screen is black and nearly nothing is responding... no back light, no touch response, no led/screen while charging (usb to pc or direct charging).
This happened after plugging the phone on my car to charge and at that time the phone freezed on the ulefone logo screen, but never made it to the android interface. we then stopped the phone by pressing power a long time, but since that time the phone looks like dead.
- What I have tried so far :
~ start in recovery mode : by pressing VolUp+Power, I managed a few times to come to a screen with the following options
===> recovery
===> fastboot
===> normal
this is my only hope and the reason why I am asking for your help, but sadly none of these options are working and each time screen goes black after pressing the VolDown button to choose the option.
~ since I had this screen, I thought the problem might be with a corrupted partition (bootloader or any other needed at the beginning).
so I followed the steps to get the phone connected via USB and use the SP Flash Tool (I read both XDA posts and this one https://tehnotone.com/sp-flash-tool...installation-guide-including-bricked-devices/)
I installed the drivers, downloaded the TWRP recovery to try with something and so far so good I am all set to flash...
but when I start the process with "Download" and then plug the device.... NOTHING happens, the phone is never recognized.
~ I also watched some videos on how to disassemble the device, but I would only do that only if this my last chance.
This is where I am stucked so far, and right now I can't even go back to the "boot" screen with the 3 options.
Anybody already had a similar experience on this phone (or another one) ?
Any idea what I can try to troubleshoot ?
Any hope for the phone ?
Thank your for your help
Anybody out there with an idea what to do ?
You may have overloaded the battery, in which case the only option is to replace it by disassembling it and then replacing the old battery with a replacement one. Did you plug it into a cigarette lighter adapter or just a usb port? There are various things that could have gone wrong here, but I need to know the answer to the question above first.
Hi,
i am sorry I didn't check for your answer, but I finally did what you were suggesting :
disassemble phone and change some parts.
This is what I did exactly :
I first replaced the battery to realize that the problem was with the board in which you plug the usb cable and which purpose is to recharge the battery itself.

Hard Bricked Samsung Galaxy S9+

Hi , so I installed the SupriorOS ROM that a guy posted on S9 forums a few weeks ago , and seems like my phone is hard bricked now (I know that rom was fake, I don't need any comments related to this) , I can't boot to system , can't boot to recovery mode , can't boot to DOWNLOAD MODE , any idea if there is a way to fix the device? after digging the google I found out that I may fix it with a USB JIG (which should force download mode) but i'm doubted it would work on S9+ , any idea if there is another way to fix it?

I was at hard brick as you some times before...
I dont think this would work for every case, but I will share my method. I freezed it in Refrigerator for several hours so battery connection would be gone... then I was able to go to download mode after charging...

Have you tried force rebooting it with holding power + volume down for atleast 10 seconds?

Yes, nothing happens till I release the buttons , and then the boot animation logo comes up , if you knew what I installed , you probably knew that nothing really works, I could once force download mode via after dirty flash THE SAME ROM and it actually worked, this time I flashed the rom after formatting my whole data (expected from it to work this time) but since adb is turned off now , I can't force download mode via adb again, any idea if a USB JIG would work for S9+ with an adapter?
An update : A USB JIG with an adapter didn't work , please tell me there is a way to fix it
I don't know the direct answer to your question. But please do not try to freeze your device. People who do that are not very bright. Ranging from battery damage. To high humidity. It is not good. The contraction and expansion can damage the seals. If you need to fully cut the power. Remove the back. And disconnect the battery properly not this half assed crap
So no fix I guess? Just get a new phone?
