Hi !
Need some help and some guidance from the members regarding a serious issue with my Xperia Sola
The main issue with my Xperia Sola is that the screen freezes 2 or 3 times a day on various situations like when i am browsing on the internet or just browsing thru menus and or even when i write a text message. A random freeze i can call it! The screen freezes and looks like when you're watching a 3D movie without glasses. it's a bit..i don't know the exact term to decribe it but looks exactly like i said. So, after that it becomes unresponsive and the only thing i can do is to restart the phone using up volume button + start button at the same time! Then, it's coming back to life and...i am waiting for the next **bleep** freeze again!
The phone is upgraded to the latest version of android 4.0 with the Latest available software: 6.1.1.B.1.54. I allready performed an repair thru the pc companion on my pc and also tried SUS but the problem is still there.
I don't know wether is a hardware issue or a software issue!
Any ideeas?
Thank you!
Might be hardware issue.
Does I happen on clean firmware with no apps installed other that come with stock?

Likely the GPU, makes no difference if it's GPU CPU ram or anything else that's on the mainboard they are not going to fix it just replace the mainboard.

holy sh..! i guess that would be expensive, replacing the motherboard and stuff !
i will send it these days to the local sony service if you trust that is 80 % a hardware issue!

Well I'm not an expert, but since it happens after flashing clean firmware as well it seems to be some kind of hardware issue even if it's a loos contact.
Won't be cheap question is how exensive.
See if it's worth you repairing or buy a new phone.

Yeah man, clean software, nothing but the stock firmware on it and keeps on freezing. Some days he's behaving ok. I mean ...what am i saying, not a day goes by without one or two of those freezees! sometimes during a call! :/
Yeah, got the same advice from someone! I'll see if it's worth repairing! I really like this phone
I'll keep you posted ChikeD and thank you so much for reply!
Couple of days ago my camera flash stopped working. I used it the day before and now nothing. I have Flashlight Pro 7 and when I restart my phone and open the app, the speaker make a brief crackling noise instead of the flash coming on as a light. Brief as in a fraction of a second.
I also had Flashlight-X app on the phone which recently was updated. Don't know if that has anything to do with it but I removed that app with no success to my problem.
I have the AT&T update to install so hopefully i it is a software issue that will take care of it.
However, I thought I would see if anyone has had this problem, knows of a solution or can give me an idea how I can get it fixed. Phone is out of warranty so I am on my own.
Thanks

You might try a reset of the phone or reflash the firmware with either the Nokia Software Updater 4.1.0 http://www.google.nl/url?sa=t&rct=j...=s4RT8ZDXQJnnGNjJJsANlA&bvm=bv.55123115,d.d2k ( this is the easiest to use but may not support US carrier phones) or Nokia Care Suite 5 http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f29...t-5-0-2012-51-4-4-new-mediafire-link-1600953/ , tutorial http://www.wpcentral.com/how-fix-bricked-920-after-reset . Actually I found this on WPC. Tested it and it looks like this is the problem. Going to buy a T5 and dig into it.

Just and update... this was the problem and easily fixed my phone.
hello, i have a problem with my xperia u, i cant text properly with it, some times the letter cant be pressed(im using the 3x4 keyboard not the qwerty, but even qwerty keyboard cant be pressed the letter sometimes). my girlfriend experienced it on her xperia u too 2months ago, but its under waranty that time so the service center did repair it successfully. but now my phone's waranty is already expired, we took it too service center too, but they did not succeed on repairing it, they said the touch screen must be replace. i dont want to think this way but i dont believe it because my girlfriend's phone has been repaired with a very similar problem, now i think that they said that to me so they can get more money if i will agree to them to replace the touch screen. does anyone know how to fix this? its different on other not responsive screen problem, i check the service test on touch screen and there is no broken line, its just hard to press sometimes on texting but there is no problem making a line. factory reset and repairing via PCC and SUS is not solving the problem(both on mine and on my girlfriend's phone when she is experiencing the problem) thank you very much in advance to everyone.
If it's a hardware problem no one here can help you fix it.
Lots of touchscreen problems woth U and Sola, I would think Sony should fix them free of charge.

actually i dont think that it is a hardware problem, because like what i've said, my girlfriend's phone experienced the exact problem that im encountering right now, and they fixed it with i dont know what they did but they didnt replace anything, meaning its only a software defect. if i was remembering it right, they are talking about software calibrate or something like that but im not so sure about it. maybe they dont want to fix it with free charge now thats why the saying that it is a hardware problem for me to pay. i really believe someon could help me here, i would be very thankful and im thanking now in advance.

want to bump.
Folks,
[Update] This is a possible fix for the dedicated camera button as below:
1-The symptoms i had before:
this is my second month with my 4th Xperia Z2, as the last 3 had all possible defects you can ever imagine, anyway, i recently noticed that the dedicated camera button has some sort of a problem, it launches the camera app perfectly then it doesn't respond at all, i keep pressing it like crazy with no luck to capture the shot.
the weird thing is it works perfectly with any other camera app from the market, and it sometimes works with the official camera app after like 1 minute of waiting or maybe randomly, i don't really know, then after i capture the photo it stops responding again for a minute or so.
what do you think guys?
i'm on .314 FW
tried a factory reset, tried uninstalling all other 3rd party camera apps with no luck
2- The Fix
i've tried removing all 3rd party camera apps with no luck, tried the factory reset and then the PC Companion repair with no luck as well.
googled it but no one is talking about it, even here, i didn't find a real fix which made me really nervous about it as this is my 4th Z2, here is what i did.
A- I pressed it very hard for like 10 times as i was really nervous coz there are no fix
B- while pressing and releasing i felt that sometimes it get released for the 2 clicks, the shutter click then the focus click
C- I started sensing when it get released for just the shutter click then stopes and when it get released for the 2 clicks
D- bought an AKAI electronic spray and sprayed the button several times while keep pressing and releasing it hundreds of times till it stopped the faulty 1 release and it became most of the times releasing the 2 clicks
3- The conclusion:
when the official app launches while the focus click not released the button will not function at all, and when it launches while the 2 clicks are released everything will be perfect
Hope this help you folks as i'm sure there will be lots of you guys with this problem without a fix for it (as most of Xperia Z2 devices has their defects) for me only I've replaced 3 devices and this is the 4th one

how did you factory reset?
perhaps try repairing your device via Sony Pc companion. if your problem peesists try contacting sony support and get a device repair as this should be covered by your 2 year warrenty that sony gives with all xperias.
you do need proof of purchase for this

thanks for the reply man,
but what is the difference between the factory reset and the PC Companion repair? i think both of them are doing the same job, correct me if i'm wrong.
also please i need more clarifications for the 2 years warranty, and does this need to be shipped to the country i bought it from or any Sony branch can handle this?

no. factory reset just resets the user data, sony PC companion repair, reinstalls the entire OS, hence removing any problems with your current System.
and for warrenty, all xperia devices have a 2 year warrenty if you have proof of purchase. (emails, reciepts, cell contract.. etc)
all faults with the device which are not caused by the owner, sony will repair as this is a Device fault. this is covered by warrenty

I was having the same issue just now, and having read the OP I pressed mine camera button quite hard repeatedly very fast and it came free and began working properly.
It seems that the button just gets stuck halfway in after a while. Mine too was launching the camera but then doing nothing else. What is this electronics spray?
I had the same problem when a friend of mine used my phone after eating a burger.
Instead of using a spray I just washed my phone with water and soap and now it's working without any problem.
camera button fixed
yeheeeyyyyyyyy........ Thanks for this information you shared about how to fix the camera button. Mine is now VERY WORKING PROPERLY... Im happy and not bothered anymore. GOD BLESS US ALL.
Can you help me my problem is the same camera button not working how can you fix this one?
Hey everyone, i recently purchased my dad a new Z5C for his bday from a seller on Ebay. I am a bit paranoid about it though because it is on 5.1.1 and i cannot update it. I have tried doing it from phone settings, and the Xperia companion, but both say it is up to date, and i included a pic of what i got from the Sony website when i checked the IMEI (http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/software/). So am i missing out on some info, is the update not fully out yet, or is this reason to support my paranoia.
On a side note, i have tried installing 3 tempered glass screen protectors and have gotten a large halo all around (air on the sides that wont come out) each time, is this common, do the glass screen protectors suck for this phone or is something fishy with this phone?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
Here is a pic of the halo effect I was talking about plus those little bubbles a fifth of the way down. All 3 new protectors have had the same issue.
Must have bought from the same seller, because the same thing happened to me. I got mine today and it showed a message saying it was a prototype device, which is my guess for why it says it can't be updated and Sony claiming it to be up to date.
I am concerned about possible spyware and build quality issues, which is why I would like to upgrade it with a stock ROM ASAP. Sony probably won't help us, but maybe eBay can exert some pressure on the seller to take it back.

I just talked to Xperia support about half an hour ago and they suggested doing a software repair via the Xperia Companion program. Except when I tried to do so, I got the error "UEGetPhoneInfoFailure" when I had to hold volume down and plug it I to the PC. I got the phone from here http://www.ebay.com/itm/142324022634

Yup, same seller. Did Xperia support mention if the phone is identical otherwise? One of the main reasons I got this phone, other than the size and specs, was the water resistance, which the Xperia X Compact lacks. I wouldn't mind keeping the phone if all that's different is the firmware, assuming we can get it flashed somehow. I'll give the software companion a try tomorrow as well and let you know what happens.

The most surprising thing is that the phone was supposed to be sold either in the Netherlands or Norway (I don't remember which exactly) but other than that it is a normal phone. Warranty expired a few years back as well. But it is a genuine Xperia. I do really like the phone as well perfect size and good amount of power. And do let me know of the results. Hopefully we can get this sorted out

Congrats! How did you go about upgrading it? I've been looking for a way to backup the TA/DRM keys before I took the plunge. I think the issue is that the keys are not in the standard format, but I can't verify. Were you able to get the keys somehow?

You don't have to worry about that because you don't have to open the bootloader. I just checked to be sure and I still got all my keys. Follow this guide here https://www.google.com/amp/s/b.marf...flashtool-and-xperifirm-guide/?marfeeltn=amp.
Make sure you install the drivers correctly for the programs, if using Windows 8,8.1, or 10 it gives you special instructions. The flash tool you can get from here http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php.
As long as the software you get matches your model number it can be any country. There was no US for the E5823 I went with customized Australian. If you need anymore info just reply or send me a message
