Hello. I had this same issue. You need to replace the connector that connects the usb c charge port board to the main motherboard. This should then resolve your issue.
Hope this helps!

Thank you for your help. I found out what the problem was. it was a broken solder on the communication BGA

[Q] USB connection charges but nothing else

I've had to sent my phone back to Samsung because it was not connecting to my computer via USB, it charged fine but nothing else, no message came up in the notification bar at all.
I don't know if its an issue the phone has always had as I have never tried connecting it before, it only came to light because I bought a Smart Dock and it would't work.
I've searched on the internet and cannot find anyone else having the same problem and mentioning it being sorted. Lots of cases of completely broken USB ports.
So has anyone ever heard of this issue and know if it was easily resolved by the Service Centre?
Cheers
Rich

Hi I had a similar problem 2 weeks ago but mine was also having intermitent problems with the charging connection as well, it would appear that it only takes a minute piece of fluff in the micro usb socket to cause havoc with the connections Sometimes this can be cleared by "blowing in the hole method" this worked temporarily for me but eventually I used a stiff toothbrush to clean out the socket and after that all connections work every time, I have now purchased a silicon plug for the socket and one for the earphone socket as well ( I am surprised that a flagship phone doesn't come with covers for these anyway
I had the same problem as well.
It's just a problem of drivers getting corrupted in your pc. You should have reinstalled them instead of sending the mobile to the service center.

If it was just the drivers then I would still have had the notification on my phone that USB had been connected. And when I dropped it off at the local service centre to see if it could be fixed without sending it off to the big one they tried plugging it in and confirmed it was not connecting.

Standard answers to this question
Reads as no Samsung |USB drivers or Kies installed or corrupt .
Failure to connect can also be dirty / failed USB port on phone / Bad USB port on PC .
Bad USB cable .
Or failed/ corrupt firmware on phone flash stock firmware .
Also possible failing component on motherboard .

I had exactly the same problem as yours i.e no usb icon showing in the status bar etc etc, and all i did was that I reinstalled the drivers using the all in one toolkit for the galaxy s3 and voila! my phone was detected by the p.c again
Maybe your's is a slightly different problem.
Cheers guys,
The problem was there before and after I upgraded to 4.1.2 so I guess that rules out the firmware option, maybe a dirty connection is a possibility but the tech guys on the phone or in the repair shop didn't try anything along those line. I gave it the obligatory blow out at some point but that didn't do much.
I think the guy in the shop was of the impression it will be a hardware fault with the port.
Just hope they don't take forever to get it back to me.

Charging issue: disconnecting continuously

I am facing this charging issue since morning. Charging is getting disconnected and then reconnected continuously.( Charging is fluctuating) I have tried using other cords and also using the original xaiomi charger for redmi 3s. It has the same issue with all the chargers. Can anyone tell me if it's a hardware issue or software issue? If it's hardware issue then what can be done about it? Please help.
I have this issue when using the USB port in my brother's car but I have no idea why it happens. It never happens anywhere else but yet no one else has this issue in the same car. Weird.
It might be an amperage type issue but that's just a guess. Like you, I would love to know what it is.
RN3P Kate.
I have the same problem. I think is hardware problem, but i cant find replacement.
Did you managed to fix the problem? I'm facing the same
This seems to be a hardware problem. Maybe the charging pin is damaged. Go to Mi service center, they might b able to help you.
I have solved this problem
Turn on USB debugging from developer mode then put your phone on charging for 1 full night in switched off mode ...
It will charge normally

Fire HDX 7 Not recognized by pc

Hi guys,
I have a fire hdx 7 and recently it was updated to 4.5.5.2
After that it wont by recognized by my PC and laptop, i tried on both with windows 10 and ubuntu, any of then shows signs of recognition by logs. The only thing is that the kindle shows a message that the fire is connectd to a low power charger.
I have tried many things and nothing is working. I manage to root with kingroot, in it shows the permission to adb and the permission is allowed.
Some one have any ideas of what could it by?
Thanks!!
Sorry for my english, hope to understhud.

English reads fine.
Try a different USB cable. While this seems an unlikely solution (especially if HDX was recognized before using the same cable) it is often the cause of connection issues...especially if using the factory cable. The notice about a "low power charger" suggests no connectivity on one/both data pins.

Thanks for the reply
I tried that with some diferrent cables, using usb 2.0 and 3.0, the problem remains.
I'm wondering if it issen't a hardware problem, that massage about charging shows in every charger that i plug in to.

Ah - new info. Check for bent/missing pin in the micro USB port. Separation could also have occurred on mainboard. Not an easy fix...both disassembly and soldering.
I have not seen/heard of a firmware (kernel) issue that fails to recognize a valid data connection on this device.

Thanks again!
I have the exact same problem. Did you ever resolve it? Thinking I may need to replace the port.

Charging Issue :(

Hello guys! I am using a Redmi Note 3 with stock kernel and NOS 8.1 ROM. My phone is not charging with most of the cables/chargers. Only a select few cables work. The stock Mi cable, Aukey and even expensive cables don't work. Only the chargers(non USB one) are working and it connects and disconnects immediately.
Kindly help me to fix this issue. The issue is really annoying
I am also facing same issue charger connects and disconnects immediately. Even when charging the phone in off mode it connects and disconnects. Tried several chargers and cables, all are showing same problem. I remember last time i installed a custom kernel after that this problem started. Hope to get some help

I am facing the same issue with the stock kernel itself
Your charging port is damaged. Like mine. Replacing it is the only solution

Yeah, I faced the same issue, there were some connection issues when I connected my phone to charger or computer. I soldered new usb port, but I recommend replacing the entire charging board, it's cheap and easy.

Moisture Sensor issue S9 plus

It has been an year since I am facing the issue of moisture detected. There is no moisture inside the port. This issue occurred last year and is still here. The only temporary solution I found was to turn off device and plug the charge in 3 to 4 time and it starts charging its an temporary fix and I have to turn device off each time. Also due to this issue the device sometimes stop fast charging. I wanted to ask that will installing a custom rom (stock android instead of samsung rom) will fix issue (will this stop the moisture issue). Or is there any other way to fix it using root or without root. The guides on net about cleaning port or changing charger didnt work.

I am using orignal charger & cable also tried a different charger and cable. Its been an year since it started. For me I think the sensor is faulty. Also the charging changes to cable charging after connecting charger , same with all the chargers I tried.
Make sure the port is spotless; debris in the jack port can cause this. A toothbrush and a little anhydrous isopropyl alcohol can be used to gently clean it. Allow to dry completely.
Then clear the system cache.
Maybe a charger port PCB failure, a guess.

Hardware. Likely a mobo failure.
Check for cracked solder joints in the power section.

No idea. So you can flash it? WTF?
That means most of the mobo if not all is working.
No beep when you connect charger?
Display failure?
Port pcb failure? This little bugger can do some bizarre things on the 10+ if it fails or is the wrong one, so I learned.
Unfortunately I have no clue how to decisively troubleshoot this.
Hopefully someone here does.
My problem is solve no moisture deduct i change cable and factor reset now problem not there. When this proble happened my phone not charge faster charge sometimes so i use stock cable then fast charging show issue withe the cable now 1month there is no problem try and tell me guys.

For me factory resetting or changing charger and cable didn't worked. Still getting moisture detected but if i connect it when powered off after 2 or 3 tries it starts cable charging. But after unplugging charger and reconnecting after a little time it again shows the error.

Is it possible the phone has water internally?
Get some anhydrous isopropyl and carefully clean the c port contacts. An old toothbrush works if the bristles are long enough.
Allow to completely dry.
It may have a bad c port pcb or mobo if this persists... a guess on my part.

If you have root access.
There are members here that know the files you're looking for.
I'm wondering if replacing the charging port PCB would fix this. It's possible that corrosion from previous moisture exposure caused corrosion that left conductive pathways that are causing the error. Or the PCB failed.
These boards tend to be cheap, just get the right version for your variant. If the battery needs replacing then be a good time.
