Samsung Galaxy A205U (A20) Stuck on "Samsung Galaxy A20" logo - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My mom got a replacement A14 5G due to the A20 not booting, and I am gonna use the A20 as one of my phones.
It's stuck on the logo screen (the screen before it boots) and I am trying to get it on.
It doesn't connect to my laptop, either. So I can't flash any firmware.
I tried factory resetting and clearing cache, it also does not boot.
I tried restarting and it said at the top in red text: "Could not do normal boot." and some string of letters after and "Error" then force shut off.
Is there any way to get around this?
Thanks in advance.

He needs to find the right firmware. Since his is a U model, probably is Carrier locked. He needs to determine his carrier to find right carrier.

I tried flashing a combination firmware and it says "Please get the approval to use factory binaries" and a string of letters that say "PIT".

Strange.
I was sure my suggestion was to flash Stock Firmware for TMK...

So it froze on the USERDATA screen and now it doesn't boot. It also doesn't flash anymore. And it gives an error every time I start it up.

You device has entered a forced download mode.
Since you can still enter download mode, I will advise you to follow this tutorial.

The picture shows he is trying to use Odin to load a firmware meant for an I9100. It doesn't mean that his device is actually an I9100.
He could be trying to load it to an I9100G, or some other device.

That's my point; we don't know what he actually has. His posted pictures only show what firmware he's TRYING to load. Not what the device is that he's actually trying to load the firmware TO.
Just because he says he has an I9100, doesn't make it so.
You know how many posts I've seen of people who thought they had an I9100 and actually had an I9100G, or vice versa?
Or now many posts I've seen of people who actually have a different Galaxy SII variant altogether (such as an SGH-I777, SGH-I727, SGH-T989, or SPH-D710) who have posted in this forum (for the I9100) and even tried flashing I9100 ROMs? More than I can count.

I don't suppose you tried another USB cable? Or another USB port? Or are you plugged directly into a USB port on the computer? Sometimes flashing doesn't work well when not plugged directly into the computer. Like if you're using a hub, or a port on a keyboard or monitor or something.
i`ve checked the USB cable and it is perfctly fine and the connection is not the problem...
also i have found the device box the check its moudle and it says: gti9100 SSN: -19100GSMH

3. Download SamFirm from SamFirm...
4. Open Samfirm Enter device model, select manual & input the PDA, CSC, Phone and Product Code...
5. Click Download...
6. Open Odin and select AP and select the downloaded software image...
7. Enter Download Mode on your device...
8. Flash the Software Image...
Hopefully it would work... I'll Post screenshots Soon...
***Updato Method - UPDATE - It's the Best Way - Recommended - Sammobile Alternative
1. Go to Updato Samsung Firmwares... and search for your device ex:SM-N930 ...
2. Select & Download the software image...
3. Open Odin and select AP and select the downloaded software image...
4. Enter Download Mode on your device...
5. Flash the Software Image...
Hopefully it would work... I'll Post screenshots Soon...
***Sammobile Method - Not Recommended - Very slow Connection - Image Corruption chance High
1. Go to Sammobile Firmware... and search for your device ex: SM-N935 ...
2. Download the software image...
3. Open Odin and select AP and select the downloaded software image...
4. Enter Download Mode on your device...
5. Flash the Software Image...
Hopefully it would work... I'll Post screenshots Soon...
***SmartSwitch Method - No Longer Works
1. Go to Samsung Smart-Switch Here...
2. Download smart switch, open it and hit emergency recovery, then device initialization, enter "SM-XXXX" or whatever is after S_-____ and hit search...
In my case I put SM-N930FD, that's my Phone - Enter all CAPS ON...
3. Enter S/N on the back of the phone... Smart switch will try to fetch the ROM if available...
4. It will tell you that everything will be deleted and sign-out from google accounts... but you can't do anything so just proceed...
5. Then it will ask you to enter to the Download Mode or Odin Mode ( Vol Down + Home + Power ), continue ( Vol Up ) and connect your phone via USB to the PC...
6. Smart switch will start downloading the Image to Wipe the phone and reinstall the ROM again...
Unfortunately, I don't have a screenshot of this as I already have done all these steps... but it's nothing but a small window showing progress of download and install...
7. Leave the phone, Don't play with your PC... You can Pray or go do something good so that when you're back, the phone would be fresh as if you just bought it...
Unfortunately, I don't have a screenshot of this as I already have done all these steps... but it's nothing but a small window showing Device initialization complete, Hit OK and you're done...
It will take time but Hopefully, it fixes your phone as it did to mine...
Updates:
Update 16th Feb 2018:
SmartSwitch Method no longer works, Samsung has removed it...
Update 25th July 2017:
This is not related to Galaxy Note 7 anymore, it's a solution to any Samsung Phone...
Update 2nd October 2016:
User azzicles reported that in Odin you need to check update bootloader to succeed...
Great work putting this up together, But Should've posted in the guides section as this more of a guide rather than a Development thread.

Thank you,
I am still new to XDA and I wished to help those who bricked their phone...
When I bricked my phone, I was so sad that I'd have to wait for loooong time till I am able to fix it....
So I have done a bit of research if it's possible to do it through Samsung SmartSwitch,
after all when you boot your bricked phone it tells you use smartswitch or contact service center...
when I fixed my phone, I felt relieved and Wished to share my discovery to make those who bricked their phone relieved as well...
So I put the thread here...
If the admins see that the thread should be put in the Guides Section, then hopefully they'd tell me how to move it there...
Thank you for taking to time to post the solution.
Will this work with T-Mobile version? When I enter my S/N in SmartSwitch, it keeps erroring out when I click "search" and then SmartSwitch immediately closes... Any help, much appreciated!

SmartSwitch Works with All Samsung Note 7 Phones and it's the safest tool to unbrick your phone...
The thing I noticed about SmartSwitch is it's case sensitive and the S/N at the back of your phone is tricky to the eye as it's small and light reflected easily could make you input it wrongly...
Revise what you Entered, better write it on the paper and count the characters...
The only error it would display is something like "Your phone is not supported yet" or "phone software not available" if your input is correct...
As I understand, you are stuck at step 3...
Please let me know if you still have issues, I'll do my best to help you...
Does it fix your missing recovery?
And no offence, please do not use so much color fonts in the post. It makes your article so difficult to read. Some of the colored sentences are even not import.
Using just bold, underlying, red , will be ok.

The latest firmware... But without patch updates... You'll have to update it yourself... Just 200MB...

when you input the S/N, it locates the phone region, it searches for the latest firmware and installs it... Not the exact firmware that originally came with the device,
if say 6.X.X update rolled out then smartswitch will install that instead of the 6.0.1...
Patch Updates are done through the phone, they don't change firmware version...

And with the twrp you need to be very carefully at th instructions.
What am I doing wrong?

Failure here!!
the firmware didn't work for me, Odin kept giving the error: Complete(write) operation failed. I tried several versions of Odin, tried to remove the sdCard and SIM, tried to change the cable and usb port, nothing worked.
Downloaded the firmware from SamMobile and it worked like a charm.

Please download the proper firmware in sammobile.com don't rely on this firmware. Choose the rom based on your country to avoid getting those unknown imei errors etc.

Same is true with this one. Go to the website that I mentioned under firmware search j730x (change x depending on the letter of your original/stock rom) just enter it choose your country sometimes it comes also with the specific carrier for the phone then download the rom. As I have said don't rely on the uploaded rom here cause it might it to certain issues about your network. BTW you need an account before downloading those firmware but its worth it.
Where can i check which is the correct firmware for my phone. Baltic or nordic countries? I'm from finland.
What's the logic behind posting official firmware links on xda? All of them are on websites like sammobile, along with proper instructions.
Anyone have a clear cut way to restore a hacked account? I've flashed 7.1.1 stock via ODIN however I'm still getting the FDR account issue. All my searches have not turned up a clear cut way to reset the FDR from google. I've tried flashing FDR files, to no avail. I've also ordered a OTG USB so I can try the "samsung bypass google verify.apk" method, but that won't arrive until Monday sometime. I thought by flashing the bootloader would do it, but not finding a reliable download source. I'm even looking to downgrade to 6.x.x but that too seems to require the correct bootloader files which again I'm not finding. Any other ideas, maybe a solid walk though? Thanks in advance.
Thanks it worked, saved my ass.

Bricked trying to magisk 11

I got the Motorola update to android 11 and successfully installed it. When I tried to install magisk after patching my boot.img, I think I've hard bricked the phone.
I'm unable to turn on the screen.. tried just the power button, vol- and power, vol+ and power.. no dice.
anyone know of other things I can try to get in to fastboot and reset the device? or is it a lost cause?
I flashed the patched boot.img from fastboot. when the phone screen was stuck at the motorola logo. I went back to fastboot and flashed the stock boot.img. It boot looped a couple of time and now it won't turn on at all.
Using the rescue tool is of no help because the tool requires the device to boot into fastboot
Help!
Try this. Hopefully you can get to the bootloader. If yes, continue with my suggestion below.
I guess you go up to android 11 via OTA. In this case, you need to download the android 11 firmware matching your phone, then extract the boot.img which you will flash back to your device. Hopefully, you can reboot to your phone as normal.
When patching the boot.img using the latest magisk, remember not to change the patched file name given by magisk. Just keep it as is as provided by magisk. To be safe, you should test a single boot with the patched image before flashing it.
Hope that'll help.

Thanks.. I cannot get the phone to power on at all.. so, no bootloader/fastboot. Tried power cycle while plugged in.. didn't change anything. Will keep trying.. Strangely, the rescue software's 3rd option is "power-off mode", but that option also asks me to be in fastboot.

No. I tried reinstalling the Qualcomm usb drivers. That didn't help either. Possibly that's why the rescue tool is unable to help with the power off option. Any other ideas? What ever happened, it has to do with the boot.img.
I wish phones had a reset hardware button.
Are you sure the phone is fully charged? Did you try plugging in the power for several hours?

Yes, that's the rescue tool that I've been referencing. Also, the phone had full charge when I screwed it up. Will try plugging it again.

If windows is making the device connected sound will connecting to USB, it's there somewhere.
Otherwise, it's not fixable because there is no device to send commands to.

Yep.. that's what I'm afraid it is. Unless the device decides to boot to something, I'm guessing it's done. Thanks for your help!

yeah.. been googling and this was the first video that I came across. didn't help though.
EDIT - ignore the below. Just remembered that is a snapdragon and not Mediatek.
When I leave the phone connected to my windows 10 laptop, the device shows up occasionally under networks. Double clicking the device pulls up the properties.
Looks like there's still some "life" on my phone. Anyone have ideas on how to get into it?

Help me Update my tablet please!

Hey Folks
I got my tablet from work it's not a US model...the only way I can tell is that my Samsung free app is not in english lol. All the channels are in like some slavic language it seems.
But the issue is its stuck on Android 11 with a January 1st security patch. I've been looking up firmware updates to flash using odin and I'm unsure as to which one I should use.
my CSC code is OXM
if someone could please point me in the right direction I'd like that.
Also a stock rom would be great. I have to be ready to turn it back in to the company at any point.

If it belongs to your company, then you need to take it to the IT department and let them upgrade it.

That is not an option, I work for Samsung and the tablet is supposed to be for work use only. They won't help. I can do it myself, I just haven't been in the modding have for awhile

Wait. You work for Samsung and was issued a tablet by Samsung for work and it won't update to Android 12; nor will Samsung update it.
That makes no sense and does not pass the smell test.
Ok now that that's out of the way...
Like I said. I can do it myself, but I'm just looking to be pointed in the right direction.
No Samsung won't help, after 9 years with the company I know they're just going to say that
"An update isn't necessary for the use that the tablet serves."
I'm using as a personal tablet though, by luck of the draw they sent me a work tablet that's from Europe. It's stuck on Android 11.
I can't find any info on updating a tablet with an OXM country code

That is for the Note 8s. NOT the Galaxy Tab S7/S7+. The Note 8s NEVER had Android 11, it never went past Android 4.4.

Yes. I haven't "claimed" to work for Samsung for 9yrs.
I just want to know if there's a stock ROM for CSC OXM. I can't seem to find it. And if it's possible to change the CSC without bricking it

What does that post have to do with this? I told you, if the tablet is a work tablet and YOU work for Samsung, then talk to your company's (Samsung) IT department.

OP, have you stumbled on an obstacle where you can't flash using Odin? If not, you're imagining a wall that is not there.
OXM is a group of CSC's, in phones it is very partitioned to regions, i.e, most of Asia and all of Europe is included in OXM, and maybe Africa too. However, Tablets are a lot more fluid in this aspect.
If you have an OXM Tablet, which you do, and a WWD CSC, nothing stops you from flashing any OXM firmware to your device. Unless it's KNOX Enterprise tied. I do however see that there is no information for WWD as a CSC. If WWD means KNOX Enterprise, what i would do is try to contact the person that actually manages it.
If the tablet is not Enterprise locked, I suggest you grab Frija (a tool that downloads the latest firmware from Samsung servers), also grab the latest Samsund USB drivers, and lastly Odin (this one is a Samsung tool that leaks out in no time).
1. Download Frija, and download any OXM Rom with it, i.e. SM-T970, CSC: EUX. The app will download, CRC check the zip, and then all you have to do is unpack the zip package.
2. Assuming you downloaded and installed the Samsung USB Drivers already, turn off the tablet, Open Odin up, connect the tablet to the PC after running Odin, and hold Volume Down and Power Button. You will be presented with some text to press Volume Up to continue, and after that you will be in Download Mode. Odin should give you a Green or Blue light with COMX (X being a number), that means that there's a connection between your phone and Odin to flash the rom on it.
3. Load all relevant files from the unpacked ZIP to odin. BL to BL, AP to AP (this one will take a while, dont close odin if it looks like it's crashing), CP to CP, and HOME_CSC to CSC.
4. Start the Flash. If it works, your good, if it doesn't, no harm will be done.
If by any chance Odin fails, or Download Mode is not reachable, then you most definitely have a KNOX Enterprise managed device. I would advise you to now roam around looking for a workaround to take that off, first, you cant, second that puts you on a very dodgy position.
You'll be updated to October Patch, Android 12L, One UI 4.1.1.
Android 13 / One UI 5.0 is on the test firmware already, so that one is right around the corner too.
EDIT: Getting some mixed research about WWD. S22 in US seems to use it as a COMBO under a Group, like Europe is moving all countries (DBT, BTU, etc), to EUX under OXM. WWD seems to be for US models, but still, this is Phones. Another source is saying WWD is "Demo Units", stuff that is shown in Shops.

Yes I'll try this today. This may be a retail demo from Europe which would explain a lot.
I'll try the steps you've mentioned and hope for the best. Thank you.
