Broken Screen - help! - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

I've broken the screen of my T-mobile MDA II. I'm in Toronto, Canada and would love it if someone had a suggestion on where I can send it to get fixed. I'm obviously not a T-mobile customer and the unit has been flashed with the O2 Rom.
Please help.
Thanks,

Where did you get your PDA?
Are there any warranty to the MDA?
If the MDA starts, you could flash an old version of the T-Mobile ROM in the bootloader to your device.
Create a Image to SD-Card with XDAtools, put the card to the MDA, press the Powerbutton and the Resetbutton at the same time. Then wait a few seconds and press the "Enter"button (the bigbutton). Now the flash will be written by the ROM from the SD-card. after ~ 20-25min (or you can see, that flashwriting is done) you have to make a hard reset.
Now you can send the device to the customer support - without losing your warranty, cause the T-Mobile Rom is installed.

I purchased it off of e-bay - so no warranty. I hope someone out there can recommend a repair shop. I'm going to have to pay, obviously, to get it repaired - and I'm not tech-savy enough (and I know my limitations) to attempt it myself.

I need some advice, regarding wether to flash XDAII or not..

I need some advice, regarding wether to flash XDAII or not..
I flashed my radio/ OS rom in one go a while back, and straight off the bat i had problems.
Basically, my radio rom died, then after a flash or two later, my OS rom died, and was stuck on splash screen.
I took the unit into O2 and they replaced free of charge (i was not under warranty.) (parts probably replaced: motherboard... not confirmed)
Obviously they didnt replace without a bit of a fight, anyways. back to my question..
I want to flash my OS rom only to either 2003se or 2005 because i love the aesthetics of landscape mode, mostly.
It's not vital for me, but i would like to have a more up-to-date OS (previously tried 2003se and 2005 on my xdaII before it died from flashing)
Should i take the risk with the fixed phone (same phone, just somehow fixed, assuming motherboard was replaced, because they said that was what failed in the unit) and flash to either 2003se or 2005, or just 'put up' so to speak, with 2003?
any information will be greatly appreciated
btw, my unit was bought in singapore, so if it might be a region problem, this info might help
thanks in advance!

HELP! think I've stuffed my TMOBILE uk hermes :-(

Hi guys,
Upgraded to 1.16 radio - (Tmobile UK ROM)
This kept 'hanging' so upgraded to 1.20 - this failed
Left with NO GSM - followed steps as requested set pass etc.
Still wouldn't upgrade
Tried to put latest ROM on (South african?) this FAILED but installed boot load 1.09 - argh!
BOUGHT (£20) the imei-check to downgrade - this WONT WORK - keep failing!!
Please help - stuck now - phone boots - but has NO GSM all the time...
Please help!!
please attach a usb monitor capture of a full rom upgrade until it fails. Probably will be "cid not allow (255)", but just to make sure.
No T-MOB001 rom exists yet
Did that - thats exactly where it failed!
Is it stuffed? :-(
I don't know, never had one of those with "NO GSM" error on my hands.
Probably as radio is screwed CID is corrupted and you'll not be able to flash a ROM even with your original CID. I think for you the best would be to send it to service centre.
Yeh, thought it may be stuffed! FUnny thing is, when I do a hard reset, it doesn't have the NO GSM, it reports 1.16.0.0, it's as if the T-Mobile customs reset it all. Is there any way of stopping the customs?
Regardless, I have had the phone < a month so I'm ringing customer services to see what they can do - maybe not admit I've tried to upgrade it just yet!!!

Click to collapse
I guess by "customs" you mean the Extended Rom, if yes, just do a soft reset before it installs (3 seconds). But I don't think it would do any difference...
Ok- update to problem,
Managed to downgrade from 1.09 to 1.04 of bootloader usining IMEI-CHECK.
Did HARD RESET and plugged in hermes when "press screen to continue" came up (just booted) linked to ACTIVESYNC then ran the software IMEI-CHECK sent me, this connected to hermes and asked for .unl file from imei-check. This 'downgraded' to 1.04 of bootloader.
Then managed to install a 1.13 radio rom - hermes still kept hanging -but I could use phone a little (managed to make 2 calls before a lock up). I was going to re-install another full rom upgrade - I think this may have sorted it, but by this time I had rung T-Mobile support in UK and they agreed to replace unit (I pretended it had gone wrong 'all on its own' hope Karma doesn't catch up with me!)
I THINK I would have managed to sort this using the solution from IMEI-CHECK and this forum by reapplying another full ROM upgrade. So thanks to everyone for their help! Hope this is of some use to someone!

frozen at ipl/spl screen

I flashed my locked g4 with faria's shelltool that installed wm6, my phone now wont make it past the ipl/spl screen. at this point i found the sd card backup method and unlocked my g4 through the website. when running through this method i find that the utility is unable to copy the extrom.. it seems to be the last hitch, my phone as of now is a brick and i am hoping for that to change. any help please?
Im not so sure its a brick, I think I read in other posts that if it makes it to the IPL/SPL screen there is still hope.. if it was a brick, I dont think it would do ANYTHING.
You might want to look into that though, I may be wrong, but I am pretty certain there is hope for u.
Hi there.
Turn off the phone, remove battery if necessary. Then press and hold camera button and then press the power button, your phone will enter in boot mode, now flash with the operator´s rom.
Cheers
sorry for the delayed response here. the phone (even in boot mode ) will not be found by active sync so i cannot get the thing to flash with the t-mo rom. since this issue i contacted customer care and am having the phone replaced under warranty.
the phone will NOT be recognized by activesync.. you just need to start the ROM update and it will go along fine. you need the original carrier ROM, and unless your device is CID unlocked, you need to use ShellTool to flash the WM6 ROM. good luck

Hero - DEAD!

Hi,
Guys, I have an Orange UK branded Hero.
I modded it to remove the Orange branding with:-
flashrec-1.1.3-20091107-2.zip
recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img
and then I used a custom rom 2.9-update-hero-modacocustomrom-core-signed.zip
Great!! I removed the branding and had a great working phone... I unlocked the network via Orange UK key.
But then, as i was using a 3 contract sim in the phone, i thought it better to try and flash a genuine 3 rom onto it. It failed..
Following a posting of my issue, i was advised to update my radio ?? I did with Radio_Signed_HERO_63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.14.zip - all worked well.
I was then asked to flash with splhard1_update_signed.zip which would prepare my handset to accept the official 3 rom. I did this - but now my phone wont boot up at all??
It has a fully charged battery but pressing no amount of buttons brings life to my handset... I am so worried that I have f**ked it beyond any worth...
Can anyone save my bacon (i was trying to make the phone work on the official 3 rom for my girlfriend - she doesnt even know )

Can you tell us where you got the SPL update?
...aside from Modaco's unlocked SPL, I can't say that I've seen any any updates/instructions regarding the SPL.
I don't think your phone will ever accept any official 3 rom as its still a orange serial number even though you've removed the orange software, try adding a 3 based rom instead.
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
That SPL isn't for Hero afaik I think it's for magic.
I think you've bricked it now. Maybe you could try sending it back to HTC, but they might spot what you did.
Note for future reference: don't flash SPLs unless you understand what you are doing, and if it is the right SPL or not.

[Q] Re-Applying Hard SPL

hi
I ahve recently sent my phone back to o2 for a repair, i had HardSPL applied beofre so i could flash roms but since getting it back it has not go this anymore.
does anyone know if i can re-apply the HardSPL without killing the phone ??
Yes you can.
I am surprised that they fixed your phone when it had HSPL on it. I know that T-Mobile UK consider that a breach of the warranty and wont fix the phone, even it the fault has nothing to do with HSPL.
