Hi
Just got my motorola s9, which are supposed to be good. The soundquality is great, although it is alot choppy when putting the phone in pocket. Does anyone else have this problem??
some more thoughts:
It seems to work ok when inside my house, but as soon as I leave the house it starts skipping. .......

I have same issue. But my other phone connects very well without the skips.
I am yet to use it on TC with the new radio. I hear it has a better connectivity.

ok, then perhaps I should try it out with my hermes that is laying around here somewhere?!
and then wait for the new radio....and hope for the best before selling the headset.
ok, I have now tested first with the upgraded radio, no change .
second I tried it with my hermes and WOW, the soundquality is equal to polaris (maybe a little bit worse but not much, in either case, i can easely use the headset in my pocket outside and through walls, no problem getting about 20meters from the device and so on....
so it is definetly something fishy here...
I am going to change my "usual" bluetooth regsettings for setting the audio like I have on the hermes and see how that goes...
i'll report here
edit:
Ok, I have now changed the bitpool value from 64 decimal (0x00000040) to 46 (0x0000002E) and that seems to cure the problem, I will have to try more later since I need to work a little as well, but initial testing is that it is working better, I got some skips (2 in 1 song when outside, none inside). Probably will go down to 30 (0x0000001E) on both BitPool and MaxSupportedBitPool. I know that the quality will be reduced, but it sound pretty good at 46 soo...well see.
edit2: disappointing news, it is a little better but still skips ALOT.
Anyone knows what the BtA2dpSnd -> Prefix = WAV does?
i am going to lower the settings down to 25 and add priority256 = dword 60
Edit 3:
when lowered the settings to 25, it actually does work...nor perfect and certainly not great quality as to the sound, but I can have the device in the pocket of my jacket.
I will probably have to wait until a new radio rom that might fix this?
I didn't have major skipping with mine. Mainly in certain spots where I know I would get interference of some sort that it cuts in and out.
I haven't tried it outdoors yet with Bepe's Rom or with the new *Test* radio (which I haven't installed) and once I do I'll report back.
The last few weeks I've been using the headphones now since I'm back to working out. However, it seems at random, that the next track button stops working. When it stops working, the Play/Pause button actually skips to the next track.
I use mine a lot and can say that this has never happened to me.
Well, then I hate you. I am gonna file this as an issue due to being rooted I suppose... Won't matter soon anyways as I need to find me a good set of jogging headphones.
I run into the same problem if I use my actually comfortable headphones instead of the crappy huge buds that can't fit in my ear. These have no controls on them and when using Pandora, it will just skip until I reach the 6 skip per hour limit and then it will still do crazy random things like open my notifications and stuff. I have since gotten some even better headphones and rooted (CM Nightlies) and it no longer happens. I think it is a poorly designed headphone connector that catches random signals, but thats just my opinion.

Hmm, thats an interesting thought. I have been using the stock music player, but am now running CM6 RC1 and have not tested it again, so I'll see how that goes and report back...
So, now that I am running CM6, the headphone buttons do not work at all, and I assume it is because of the different music player being used. Anyone know how I can install the stock HTC Music Player?
So, lovin' most everything about this phone, but, one annoying thing that keeps happening; I get random bt disconnects with my Jawbone era and my plantronics voyager pro plus.
It happens anywhere, in the car, in the house, outside, so Its not interference from another BT source...
Anyone else getting this or figured out how to stop it?
I've done all the OTA stuff, and I am not temp rooted, no ever tried to be..
thanks!
The only bluetooth device that I use is a bluetooth full face helmet on my bike. I will get random disconnects, but I had thought that this was due to the bluetooth radio in my helmet being of only so so quality.
well, this never happened with my evo4g, so I am suspicious that the BT radio isnt as good as the one in the e4g was

I paired it with my Camry's hands free system yesterday and haven't seen any BT disconnects so far. You may have a defective phone.
I have connected to my Handfree in my '09 Lancer and didn't experience any disconnects for 12 hours straight. I also have a Nokia BH-503 and it never disconnects either. Maybe get a replacement phone?
Others are having bluetooth issues as well, mine takes the form of music skipping.

You are not alone.
For me it runs better than the EVO 4G. But it does occasionally disconnect. But never in the middle of a call. I'm using an old Sony HeadSet.
One trick I used to use on marginal connections over bluetooth was to try pairing it at the maximum distance you can. It *MAY* choose a better channel. Sometimes you have to clear out the history of the old channel or it may reuse that. Only way I know to clear it is factory reset.
Has anyone tried the phone with one of those high priced Bose Bluetooth headsets?
The random disconnects with the Jawbone Era are really annoying to me, but, if its the phone, and not the headset, thats a different issue.
I've already replaced one evo3d due to random rebooting, so I don't want to have to try to replace it again..
thanks
I have a blu ant. And music and call quality are great. No disconnects at all. Have you tried Bluetooth with a different model??? Might just be the unit itself.
Locked & Loaded
Just bought a Q2 Blueant, so here's hoping I can get it to work right!
You should have no probs at all. They make quality Bluetooths.
Locked & Loaded
I had this exact same problem on my EVO 4G. Still happens on the 3d. I have used many different Bluetooth handsets to no avail. Doesn't happen as often with the 3d but it is maddening, because it seems like once it starts it does it all day, and many times right when I am answering a call.

so far, the Blueant q2 has been perfect; we'll see how it is today, after a full day of phone calls..
I am having the exact same problem. My bluetooth goes into headset mode when I answer the phone or make a phone call, which pisses off me and the person I'm calling because we can't hear each other and I have to hang up and call them back... Really frustrating

Yup. My wife and I own them. Imo you really can't get to much better.
Locked & Loaded
I didnt have hardly any bluetooth problems with mine, my girlfriends, or my best friends og evo's. I upgraded to the 3vo and was having the disconecting issues and my phone would randomly reboot and then freeze while bluetooth streaming (Thats really the only bluetooth I use) so I took it back and ended up buying a 3vo out right. Still have the same issues. Its probably a software bug and will hopefully be fixed in a later update or custom rom
ive been having problems with my lg headset and disconects.. re connects.. took it in to the sprint store, they ran tests on it and it failed both radio tests that they did.. getting a new one tomorrow.. for those that are getting random disconects.. and a lot of droped calls.. have your radios checked out at the sprint service centers... it could be a bad phone.. (sadly.. im getting a refer 3vo back.. **sighs**)
The in-call speaker on my wife's Aria doesn't consistently work for calls. I've replaced the digitizer on it, but I don't think it's hardware related, because I took the battery out while it was on, and when I started it up again, it worked; and sometimes it works, then doesn't, then does.
What happens is when she calls or is called the speaker just doesn't work. She transfers the sound to the external speaker and it works fine.
She's running the Liberated ROM (not sure what version, sorry; I can find out if needed).
Thanks for any help!
It's probably a loose connection.
Using a wired headset has screwed 2 arias for me now.sometimes I can wiggle the plug before I remove it and get the speaker to work but generally I just turn speakerphone on and turn the volume all the way down to use the ear speaker.fairly common problem.

I'm going to agree on this one. I've taken my Aria apart more times than I probably should have... the first cellphone I've ever repaired on my own, so go figure.
My bet would be that the in-call speaker is still in place, but loose. If you open it up again, the piece you're looking for is maybe a half-inch long rectangular block with two prongs on one side. If the phone is sitting screen up, the prongs should be facing down with the points towards the top of the cell phone. It sits in a little recess above the lcd assembly.
You need to push the piece up so it's snug in it's little recess. Easy peasy.
If you've already done a digitizer replacement, you should have the tools to do a quick check and make sure the speaker is secure in the proper position.
I still think it may be a loose speaker connection, but I also think mtnlion could be right, too.
When the in-call speaker does not work, does the phone show an icon in the notification bar that indicates that a headset is connected?
In any case, I do think it's a hardware issue and not a software issue. But if the OP really wants to be certain, he can install another ROM and see if the same problem occurs.
Yeah, I took the thing apart again, and stretched those prongs a bit to make the speaker fit more snugly; hasn't had the problem since. But I think now the seal isn't quite as tight as it used to be so her screen "squishes". That'll be another day.
Thanks for the thoughts on it.
Adhesive issues
I had that issue too. To fix it, all I had to do was use a space heater (or a blow dryer) on the phone (take the battery, sim card and SD card out first) for about 15 minutes. Then take it and smoosh it underneath something flat and heavy like a book, but make sure to put something down beneath it so the screen doesn't get scratched. Once it cools down, it should be significantly less squishy.
When using earphones (of any kind) I hear a LOT of static, but only when on the internet. I had this issue since launch, but it mostly died down after the first update, but now it is back and worse. It doesn't happen if I'm listening to downloaded music. I can adjust the level of static when turning it in its port, and when there is nothing playing I can hear static when I wiggle it around. Here is the really odd thing...when I was doing this wiggling, there was nothing playing, I pulled the jack out just slightly and pushed it back in.As soon as I pushed it back in the voice dialer pops up. It did this each and every time. Does this sound like there is something wrong in the grounding? Why does this static only happen when streaming? It is worse when I have my tpu case off. There is absolutely nothing else wrong with my phone, so I don't want to be trading it in over this. I bought it at best buy, but would sprint still service it? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Few factors involved, but definitely an interesting issue. I haven't seen any other hardware posts like this, but maybe I missed them.
Either way, I would put the software on the phone back to 100% stock ROM/kernel. If the issue still persists, which it sounds as if it will, then I would look into taking it to a Sprint store.
By restoring the device to 100% stock software, the idea is that this will eliminate any potential software issue as this shouldn't occur on a stock device. If the issue still occurs on a completely stock software device, then the issue has a higher probability of being hardware related.
As long as the issue always occurs, it should be simple for a Sprint tech to confirm the issue. Unfortunately, I have a feeling they might just swap the phone out rather than actually look into resolving the issue. Generally, my experience has been that Sprint is pretty helpful when it comes to hardware issues with a device.
Of course, their service might depend on where you purchased it as well as the type of protection plan you have on the device. Maybe somebody who works as a Sprint tech or who has been in for service recently can chime in on their experience.
Hope that helps!
Bought mine at bb and sprint serviced your fine

I am not rooted. Stock only. It started off this way on launch day, got better after the first ota then got worse after yesterday's ota. I bought it at best buy and have their insurance and they would just swap it out. However, I would likely get a refurb and having had to go through 4 refurbs with my 3D last year, I don't really want the hassle, especially since this phone is behaving in every other way. Good to know that sprint will still service it. The store in my area serviced each of my 4 3D's before they would issue another phone, so maybe I'll get lucky.

I just swapped my S-off hboot 1.2 for this PoS "unsoffable" hboot 1.15 today due to a similiar case. I had the same issue with static and it seems that no matter what i get there seems to be some type of interference and static with some white noise when playing music. The new phone has substantially less interference but it still slightly remains there. I have used both my Shure SE535's and Westone 4R's and am having the same issue. It seems to be that cheap crappy headsets are fine playing music but when and if you want good quality IEM then your screwed with interference.
Here is the upshot. Factory reset my phone thinking it was a software issue cuz no static when listening to anything on my SD card. That didn't work. Took it into sprint and of course, it sounded perfect. He suggested it could be that my wifi is overloaded and he was right. Sounds perfect when streaming off 3G. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Out of curiosity, are you listening to music while charging? I figure the culprit on my end its the charger being plugged in gives off a static feed to my headset which is only an inch away from the charger port. If this isn't the case, carry on.

I'm having the same issue, every four or five seconds when playing music I hear a weird static sound. This happens on Wi-Fi, charging, not charging and 3g. When I browse the internet I do hear more prominent static sound than when I'm just listening to music on sd card. I hope this issue gets resolved in a software update

Yup radios and or charging can cause some bad interference with the headphone jack, being an all metal unibody frame can screw with the shielding
I'm jumping so many threads today lol
Thanks for posting about the wifi solution.
I was listening to some mellow jazz guitar music and this static every few seconds started driving me nuts.
While using cheaper earphones and louder music, it's not that much of a problem but for nice crisp sound and high quality IEMs the static can be very annoying. I had my wifi turned on for location services inside a building. As soon as I turned it off, no more periodic static.
Is there any known solution to this static while using wifi & headphones problem?
I just got this device and this is one of the first things I noticed. I came from a HTC Rezound and the headphones had absolutely 0 static. My Nexus 10, however, had static only while plugged in to charger.
the static seems to happen whenever anything loads on wifi, which for me is a problem because I stream videos over a local wifi router [raspberry pi & hard drive with Apache2 as a local http media server]. the static is kinda bugging me, so if anybody has any idea how to fix it, please let us know!
thanks

so there's no way to eliminate it? by grounding something, or what-not?
I just wish HTC paid more attention to the headphone audio when they designed it.

I myself have never heard static unless I'm listening to music with low bit rate. Usually I play FLAC files so that's not the issue. Have experimented with how quality music?

No I haven't experimented a whole lot, but I've tried a few of my videos and all of them have static. it ranges from slight to slightly severe, as it's loading the whole video off Wifi and that's apparently what causes the static. [with wifi off, play local music, I don't recall hearing static.]
I tried getting a wire and holding one end and putting the other to the headphone ground, but no luck
