Qtek 8500 and SDHC - HTC Startrek

Hi,
I have installed WM6 on my Qtek 8500. Is it possible to use SDHC 8GB microSD on it?

hardware isnt problem. you need new MicroSD-card driver

...and are the drivers available? Current WM6 devices all support SDHC.

As Erofich notes, the many people have gotten SDHC to work on WM6 ROMs that didn't initially support SDHC by installing the right driver. See the following thread for a .cab file download that worked on many devices:

I think the original device this driver came from may have been a PocketPC, but I recall in the thread that it worked in some Smartphones too. The cab file was even reported to work on some WM5 devices, so I tried it on my WM5 StarTrek, but no workee. However, I think this is worth another try now that we have WM6 on the StarTrek (thanks Erofich, and everyone else who worked on this - you rock!). I have no idea if it is the "right" driver or not, but maybe worth a try. So, anybody feel brave today and want to try this one? I haven't had time to flash WM6 yet (gonna get to that soon), but if anyone gives this a try, please let us know how it goes!
When the cab file didn't work on my WM5 StarTrek, it also removed regular microSD from being seen. But I just uninstalled the cab and restarted the phone and regular microSD came back. So probably not a lot of risk to try this, but who knows...?

i'll be a guinea pig for the sdhc test, GnatGoSplat. it's been fun to be able to do something with this phone again. it's been collecting dust since i picked up my kaiser.

I'd be happy to test it in a couple of days aswell, i've got a 6gb microsdhc in my kaiser and I've just bought one of these phones of expansys for £69.95!!! great value if you ask me, especially for just carrying for work when i don't need all the functions of my kaiser but still like to have winmo. anyway first thing i'm doing when it arrives (should be friday hopefully) is cid unlock and winmo 6 so might aswell kill 2 birds with one stone and test this aswell if you want

hey, just to let you know, tried both sdhc cabs, (the one at the begging of the thread and erfich's SDHC support kit) and thats a no go on both. running Erofich's wm6 v5c rom, task manager just reads storage card, unknown unknown unknow, and file manager dosen't have any folder for memory card any more. normal sd still works fine with the cabs installed though.
Tested using a normal 1gb MicroSD and a 6GB class 4 microSDHC

I've tried experimenting with several other drivers from different devices and no go (many won't even read regular SD).
It looks like the possibility of SDHC on the StarTrek might be as hopeless as the Tornado.

but as they don't work in the Startrk it's fairly academic...

lol no I think you've read me wrong, I paid £69.95 for my 8500, the 6gb microsdhc I already had out of my kaiser, bought that back in december for £32 delivered from moby memory. Works great in my kaiser and my nikon d40, but no go for the 8500 unfortunetly
oh well, keep trying and as long as we don't give up we shall find a way... maybe lol

lol - I thought it unlikely anyone hadn't heard of Moby! Just ordered a 2Gb card for my 8500 as nothing bigger works at the mo.
Hopefully one of the clever buggers on here will get them working!
