Qwest ppc6800 to work on alltel network?? I need help - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

Ok i just signed up here looking for info, I been looking through the threads to see if there was already some info and didnt find anything. Sorry if there its already out there and i missed it.
Here is the deal, I just aquired a ppc6800 phone, It says qwest on it, im pretty sure its never been messed with like upgrading the ROM or anything, Just like from the factory i think but could be wrong, Anyways...
I want to get it working on the alltel network. I downloaded activesync, i got it connected with the phone.. I downloaded the alltel software for this phone off the HTC website and tried to install it from my computer with the phone connected but it didnt work. It said it could not be installed on this phone or something.
Im not positive but im guessing i need to somehow unlock it to allow me to install that? I dont think i need any custom ROMS or anything else custom/hacked whatever, I just want it to be an alltel phone. The phone i have doesnt have a SIM card so its a CDMA im pretty sure.
I have seen something about Ollipro or something but couldnt find a download. If you could send a link or something for that it would be great too. So any info helping me do this would be greatly appreciated, I am fairly good with electronics and stuff so i shouldnt be too much of a pain haha.
Thanks for any help in advance, I hope this is possible to do.
EDIT: If i need to post any info on the phone like the OS version or any of that stuff let me know ill post it up.

Will check this stuff out right now, Thanks
So it is possible to do what im wanting? The only service ill be using from alltel is calling and texting. No picture or MMS messages or anything. If i do internet ill get a wifi connection.

I have heard YES and I have Heard NO...I think it comes down to the store associate your dealing with. Not sure though...Think its just a hit or miss.

Ive read that carriers wont activate if the ESN is not in their list or something like that. So is there a good chance they wont even activate it for me?
I downloaded the Ollipro thing, i thought i read somewhere that i put that onto my phone? Im not sure, i didnt see any instructions from where i downloaded it.
EDIT: Nevermind i think im supposed to do it from my PC? I hope so cuz i am doing it right now haha

OK i think i just unlocked it with the Ollipro, But im not positive, I followed the instructions on the thing and where it said if i wanted to exit without installing a new rom or something i cant remember i just exited without doing that, i disabled the USB thing in activesync like it said to.
So what do i do now? Can i install the allltel software if its unlocked or are there other steps?

Ok i think im good to go. I installed the alltel software, Now it says alltel when i turn it on, Other than that the thing looks identical, So ill see if they will activate the thing for me, Thanks for the help

You should probly relock device before try to get activated. Probly wont mind though.

It wont matter if he relocks it or not. Relocking is only a worry when making a repair or replacement claim. His issue will be..... will Alltel activate the ESN on their network or not. Some carriers will and others wont.

Well i read somewhere that Alltel does not keep track of which carrier the ESN is from like others do, That could be wrong tho. And the store in town here sucks really bad, I doubt they will do it for me, Ill try tho. I may have to go out of town to try it.
Well like i said i got the Alltel software on the phone now, But i just read somewhere about some QPST thing and the #000000 thing, I dont even really know what thats for, But it said something about making it so that 000000 thing would work. Do i need to worry about any of that stuff? or should i be good to go and try and have them activate it?

Ok so i never tried to activate this thing til recently, i asked at the store to make sure cuz i knew they supposively cant activate a smart phone on pre paid plans. Since my plan is pre paid, they said no.
Anyways they now have the option on my prepaid online to change your esn. Im wondering if this will work to change it. I put in the ESN, and it went but your supposed to dial *228 to program the phone, but the phone dont do the activation thing, it just dials that number and says blah blah cant recognize or some crap. Anyways on my razr when i switched it i dial *228 and it brings up a screen to activate it. How do i do that on the HTC? Is there some screen that coems up like that to activate it?

They want to give me a Samsung i760

Hey all,
I recently dropped the ROM down to the stock. Then did SPL 2.4, upgraded to the Sprint .exe, then threw on the most recent radio 3.42.30 after 1.2 unlocker, and then went back to SPL 2.4 and ROM 3.2.2.
I haven't for the life of me been able to get Data Back. It continues to tell me that login/password are incorrect. That was on Radio 3.42.30/ROM 3.22
I even flashed it all the way back to the Stock Rom, then tried changing the login/pw which didn't work.
Then I read a comment by DCD that I would most likely need to call Verizon to have them check it out. They suggested reprogramming, then taking battery out and reinserting. Then same password/login problem. So i manually inserted the password. nothing. Then they suggested programming with option #2. Still same problem.
They asked if I wanted to get a refurb, which I thought cool. They told me they only had samsung i760's.
I've been furiously reading/searching for 2 days now. I'm suprised I can't get this fixed. Help would be greatly appreciated as I really like the phone and don't want to have to exchange it.
Thanks

Ask the rep to do a DMU reset. it resets your phones data settings. you need to do it if you relock on VZ phones.
Trying
So, the tech support guy decided not to do a DMU...apparently sending me a refurb is easier. They were able to find one in the system.
Other than flashing to Stock ROM/Radio, is there any other necessities to save my warrantee?

No, you should be fine with stock bootloader, radio and ROM.
A Reset is easy.. you just got an idiot on the phone.
I found that each time I reflashed the radio.. I have to do one of the following:
1) Call and have them reset my A key
2) Call and have them reset my data.
If you get the massage you arent authorized when you make a call.. you need the Akey reset.
If you get a Wrong password error while using data.. you need the Data Services Reset.
Every call goes the same way..
I tell them that I need my Data settings reset.. I tell them it happens each time I hard reset my device and I'm a software developer and often need to hard reset... This is routine call for me.
They ask me what the error is and then proceed to go through 20 minutes of troubleshooting making me put in passwords and taking out the battery.. I ask them if they could reset my data after each thing they try, and they say they don’t think that’s the issue... Finally after 20 or 30 minutes of this.. they ask me to hold.. they come back, ask me to try it and it works.. I ask them what they did... they say I figured I'd try resetting the data.. and act like they thought of it on their own and like I haven’t asked for that at least 8 times on the call.
That’s just how it goes... the important thing.. Be nice. Do the steps they ask you to, and eventually they will reset the data. If you act like a ****.. you won’t get anywhere. If they want to send you a replacement.. (and you don’t want it) tell them you'll try a few more hard resets and that you’ll call back if you really need one. They will be happy to let you go cause it's less paperwork for them. Call back a little while later and you'll get someone else who is more willing to do a data reset for you… don’t tell them you just spoke to someone else.
NEVER tell them you flashed custom software. Most of them wont care.. But they may flag it in your account.. it all depends who you get… but telling them that is never a positive thing.
(another helpful trick to avoid any resets.)
You must have another WM device thats not activated for this.
Go online.. Move your activation to another device.. Flash the radio.. move the activation back. This works and you dont need to reset Akey or Data.
You cant move service to a non WM device as it will remove the data service from your plan.
you can also (if you have an old vzw phone) quickly login to vzw online enter that esn number wait 5 minutes and then enter your device esn#. Some at ppcgeeks have success with this method though I'm not sure I never did it
This may be a dumb question, but I haven't seen it come up yet: did you try installing DCD's Verizon carrier cab? I just flashed to 3.2.2 last night, installed the carrier cab, everything was working, then I did some other unrelated stuff, and eventually decided to hard reset. Upon coming back from the reset, I was bummed to find that my data connection wasn't working. I figured that maybe the hard reset cleared out whatever magic the carrier cab does, so I reinstalled, and bingo, data connection was back in action. Hope that helps.
Verizon
So to start off, thanks for the help and comments. I was 100% confident that when I got the first "Login / password incorrect" message, I would be able to fix things.
Verizon decided that wouldn't be the case.
I spoke with probably 4 different people over the weekend to try to help. The first time it just was ridiculous, re-entering the same password/login OVER and OVER, despite me prefacing the conversation by saying I had already done it. The second lady wasn't quite sure what phone I had 10 minutes into troubleshooting, a few minutes later I decided I had to "go". The third guy was helpful, and I suggested the DMU reset after awhile, but he wouldn't do it. I told him to hold on the replacement, called back, went through the same procedure with another guy, suggested the DMU reset and again, they wouldn't do it. I have a replacement coming tomorrow, as they wanted to do it, and I figured a "new" case couldn't hurt?
If this happens again in the future, I'll certainly try the others suggested. Thanks for those.
I agree that you should never mention you custom flashed the ROM...even since day 1 when I got this phone 6 months ago, I knew not to do that thankfully.
And lastly, relating to the suggestion to install the DCD Carrier Cab. It was flashed to Stock, so I'm fairly certain that would be unnecessary. Thanks though.
When you suggested DMU reset, were you speaking with a CSR or Tech Support?
DMU
I was speaking with Tech Support.
Though one of the ladies was for sure either 80 and clueless, or brand new.
The last guy I spoke with seemed very competent, but for some reason unwilling to do the DMU. He explained to me "Unless you recently received a refurb, or a new handset, there would be no reason to do a DMU reset." I didn't quite have an answer that wouldn't indicate that I had broken the warranty, so I decided against pursuing that any further.
In the past I've tried the "software developer" angle and that I often Hard reset which has helped with the A-Key, but the DMU seemed to be a different story.

It's easy. If they give you that bull****, you tell them you just performed a hard reset and when it finished, your data didn't work. You tell them you're familiar with EPST so you checked your settings, and you noticed that the HA and AAA shared secret keys were blank, as well as your HDR AN AUTH Password and PPP Password keys were blank. You tell them that this is indication that a DMU reset needs to be performed. As long as you sound like you know what you're talking about and provide this information, they should do it.
Beautiful
Beautiful.
I'll actually give that a try now until I get my other phone.
By the way. Are there any negatives to getting a refurb? I've seen a few friends get refurb'd XV6800's and they always look great. Couple bumps and bruises on mine, so I figure what the hey.

This works.. it's the same thing I previously posted.. but like I said above, you must have a WM device. Essentially what you are doing is switching activation to your old phone, then reactivating your new phone. I suggest moving the activation before flashing but you may not need to.
If your old phone was not Windows Mobile.. I.E. A plain old LG flip phone.. You have to remove the data services to switch to it. Depending on your plan... You may not be able to add it back online... so you have to call customer service and it's a giant pain. Plus you'll get pro-rated for what you used until that point, then pro-rated for the remainder of the month when you add it back... and somehow all that math will = a bill thats $15 more.
If your old phone was a WM phone.... it's all good.. nice and simple.

[Q] im very sorry for all these questions, but.....

ok i have successfully rooted and s-offed my 3vo but that calling problem i have (error 16) so i called sprint and they asked me for alternative number i said no and they said its ok but they needed some personal info(im 13 and on my uncles plan)so i said i dont know as im on my uncles plan and she said ok and then she asked for name. i gave her my name and then she asked for my uncles name and i gave that to her and she said thats not what comes up so i said well i dont y and she said to go to sprint store and get them fixed. i cant go or take a chance of getting caught with s-off or root. ok so i was done with sprint. now i tried dialing ##72786# to reset hands free and hands free worked but still no calling. i tried ##3282# and reset profile and now i get verizon wireless wen i call .and now i did it again and sometimes i get sprint(mostly) and sometimes verizon.
im stuck and dont know what to do...should i talk to sprint again and hope the next person doesnt ask for info or is there a fix idk about...
thanks to whoever posts
I think you should flash a stock rom( rooted of course)...just tell your uncle that some of your friends also are having some issues with the particular phone and a new update simply needs to reset the phone by owner calling the representative. You don't need a another line..see other thread about what to say. This should be a no biggie. You are not lying and you are infact telling the truth.

its very funny for me when you said that just tell your uncle that friends having the same problem (thx anyways)but i kinda actually root and customize phones for him and he sells them on ebay etc... (im probally going to root his as he has one too) ... but is there a point to flash stock as i didnt debloat or anything just rooted and s-offed
No, if you do mods for your uncle..he should be responsible for it then. Reason for the stock rom was to make sure you did not get in trouble for rooting it. But it seems like no big then. Have him do it, simple as that.
I work at sprint. That just happens sometimes when the phone is reset .. make a call it will tell you to stay on the phone it then will connect you to a rep they'll reset a setting. And then you should be good.

no its my phone though and i need it and i was saying that he doesnt care that was my point and im trying to fix it with costing him
It doesn't cost anything to reset the phone.
Ok here is what you do, just log on to his sprint account online. Take one of the other phones and put it on your line, any sprint phone will do as long as it isnt activated at the time. Once you have swapped the phones online just wait 5 minutes and swap the 3VO back to the line, presto you are done, just make sure both phones are off when you do this. Once you have swapped the 3VO back to the account wait 5 mins then boot it up, it will go to the activation and presto it will be all set to go.

get a new one i meant which i doubt is going to happen but i just dont feel like telling anyone and dealing it with my self
I had the same problem, after flashing no calls or texts would go through. I called Sprint, gave them the error code (from failed text msg) and she asked me to remove the battery give her the ID code on the back of the phone and she had it working by the time I booted up. I did not offer any reasons for the problem and she did not ask, I really couldn't have been easier.
I had the same problem at first and I've had 3 different solutions.
1. Update profile and PRL (seems unnecessary but its worked for multiple ppl)
2*. Download MSL Reader. Once you have your MSL go to dialer and enter ##yourmsl#. That will being up EPST. Select edit. Change YOUR number (top one) to 000000000 and leave the MSID. Reboot. Allow hands free activation to go through. If it takes longer than 5 mins hit cancel and go back to EPST (##yourmsl#) and change the string of 0's to your number. Reboot.
3. Call sprint and tell them you have error code 8 or 16 when trying to make a call. That tells them they need to reset your phone.

this happen to my sister's phone. we just called AT&T and they had to reset the phone from their end. I honestly don't know what happened nor how it got to that point, but the AT&T rep I spoke with apparently knew exactly what to do.
I thought it was my sister trying to set a passcode on her phone but accidentally set a SIM passcode or something.
anyway, have her try this. see if it works.
Only pass codes she could have set are the SIM or the lock screen password I think. We'll better placed to help when you can give some accurate feedback as to exactly what the phone is, or is not doing.

[Q] trying to unlock

i'm not asking for unlock codes!!
my local cell phone repair shop screwed me over, i bought this atrix off ebay for $100 because it had a broken digitizer. i replaced the digitizer hoping the lcd is still good. no go. so instead of buying the cheapest lcd and waiting a few weeks to use the phone, i brought it to the repair shop.
the phone was off ebay and broken so it had knicks, scuffs, and a few missing fillers internally and screws. the phone i got back when they were done with it was completely new. no knicks, no scuffs, screws were all there and not worn down at all, etc.
i inserted my at&t sim card and it asks me for the unlock network pin. wtf? i dont want to go back to them because hey, they gave me a brand new phone and even if they dont remember me or the phone, they charge $50 for unlocking. if it was $10 alright i'll do it. $25 is really pushing it. but, $50 is ridiculous.
is there any way to figure out which network it is locked on to? i did check out the apn list to find out what the network settings currently is and it was completely blank.
i really do appreciate any help. i've already tried 2 online unlocking services (1st from ebay and 2nd from an online service site). the 1st one couldn't find any codes for my IMEI on at&t/cingular and the 2nd one i think was a factory unlock and they gave me a code by the phone did not accept it.
The Atrix should have the full APN list. You will just need to sim-unlock it.
Can you get into the "About phone" in the settings and see what build number it is?

i was thinking the exact same thing but there was nothing in the apn list like literally nothing. not even those protected carrier apns.
this is all the information in the about phone page.
system version
4.5.91.MB860.ATT.en.US
model number
MB860
android version
2.3.4
baseband version
N_01.77.30P
webtop version
WT-1.2.0-110
kernel version
[email protected] #2
build number
4.5.91
it doesn't make sense huh? everything listed, other than the missing apns, states that this phone should work with my att sim card but it does not. i did search the web and found the original att apns for the atrix and added all 4 of them and still asks me to enter the sim network unlock pin.
i know i most likely need to sim unlock but i dont know what carrier it was before. i already tried 2 unlock services online and both didn't work. if i could find out what carrier it was before, i would have much better progress.
Can you get into the Android Market on wifi? There is an app called APN Manager you can try to see the entire APN list.
https://market.android.com/details?...GwsMSwxLDEsImFsZS5hbmRyb2lkLmFwbm1hbmFnZXIiXQ..
Then you can go here to get an APN list (it will be the xml file within the zip):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149523
Then you can do this:
1. Go into APN Manager, go to "Backup & restore" and select "Backup"
2. Then, if you have a file manager, you can into your internal storage to the APN Manager folder and you will see an xml file. Just delete it and replace it with the xml file from the zip (and make sure to rename it the same as the original one)
3. GO back to APN Manager and just do a restore this time

Its an AT&T branded device - just call AT&T and ask them nicely for the unlock code - tell them you're planning a trip over-seas and need it unlocked. As long as your account is in good standing, they'll give you the code free. I say its AT&T because of the info you posted, says AT&T in the info there - although someone may have flashed that over a Bell device or something like that (not sure if its possible to do that) But its worth a shot to call them.

yea, i was thinking it could of been a bell atrix but atleast the apn for bell would of been there right? the first unlock service i've tried said they searched both databases for cingular and at&t and they couldn't find a code for the unlock. the second unlock service was supposedly for the factory unlock which did generate a code but it didn't work.
i didn't want to go to at&t to waste a trip but i don't think i have a choice. my fear is that they wont have a code for it like the first unlock service i tried.
Have you tried to see if a different AT&T sim would work?

nope, dont have another att sim card, my wife has the iphone 4 which uses the micro sim which i dont have an adapter for. actually, my wife also has a second line with at&t for work, but that doesn't have the smartphone plan... the last time we put that sim to a smartphone, even for just a day, the next bill we got was $40 more than wat we usually pay and was hell trying to resolve that mess.
so im guessing i should just bring it to at&t?
omg... i just went to the at&t store... my god... i hate going into an electronics store and knowing more than all the people working in there combined...
i told them my problem and all they could say was, "i'm sorry. i can't help you while the phone is still carrier locked. you have to contact the original carrier to get the unlock code."
what the hell do i do now? that is my problem! i have no clue what the original carrier is because the stupid local cell phone repair shop just gave me this headache of a phone instead of repairing my original phone! man, but my original phone was really messed up. this one is like brand spanking new, but jesus i cant get it to work with at&t!
i've checked with bell and the imei doesn't match any unlock code they have. at&t/cingular is also the same. i'm out of options.
any ideas? is there a way to track the imei to the carrier? or some code like *#06# for the imei but for the carrier lock info?
Is the phone not carrier branded in any way? That's weird. I'm not sure why it has an AT&T build(4.5.91) on it and it not be an AT&T phone...

oh trust me. i am the most confused person about this phone.
it has the at&t start up splash as well as the bloatware so yes it is an at&t phone... just the it has no at&t apns or any apns at all and my at&t sim card triggers that "sim network unlock pin" screen on start up.
this phone is seriously giving me the biggest migraine i ever had from a working phone.
Have you tried booting into recovery to see if it has a custom recovery on it or the stock recovery? Either way, maybe try that and using the "Factory reset" option from within recovery to see if that helps?

whoa... something was there... from the android system recovery>apply update from sdcard
blur_version.4.1.57.mb860.att.en.us.zip
greyblur-2-1.zip
.spotlight-v100/
.trashes/
lost.dir/
dcim/
what the hell is that?
i already did the motorola software update to 2.3.4 and i know when i first started up the phone it was on 2.2.2
if i flash that first one, do you think it'll fix anything?
I'd leave it alone since it's a Froyo build. I would just try to do a factory reset if possible. If that doesn't work then I don't know. I would suggest flashing an sbf but I have no idea what version phone you are using so that might be too risky.

i thought so. yeah, i was thinking of flashing an sbf or using rds but i have no clue what my phone is. it acts like at&t but doesn't accept my at&t sim card. also, the imei doesn't match either at&t/cingular and bell. so, what version is it? i have no freaking idea.
so im basically screwed aren't i?
I'm curious, you said the phone was 2.2.2 when you first started it up but now it's 2.3.4? How did that happen? Did you update Over-the-Air or manually?

yea, my first start up since the repair i checked the status and it was on 2.2.2 (sim card was not inserted yet). i went home and put the simcard in and it did ask for the pin so i thought if i downloaded the motorola update software on the computer and update my phone to the lastest at&t update it would fix it. apparently not.
I'm stumped, where is the CSI team when you need them??

lmao, i agree. never thought a phone would ever be this complicated. i took the phone to a retail unlocking service store, but they were really stumped when they were evaluating my phone. $50 with $10 deposit for them to clean up this mess. i was hoping i would find a solution before they would call me back (they said give them 2 to 3 days to figure out something) so i wouldn't have to add more money into this "thing".
Is it requesting a 4 pin number?
EDIT: I just had a thought. I remember I had used a SIM Pin on a phone in the past and usually the "default" pin for AT&T is something like "1111" or "1234" or maybe even "0000". Something along those lines. I've even heard that the last four digits of your phone number might be it. Of course, this is contingent on the premise that it is requesting a 4-digit pin, but might be worth a try (you get like 10 tries with the method I'm thinking about).

Question Can anybody please help me get carrier unlocked? (Sprint)

I'm trying to do a carrier unlock. I've been getting jerked around by their tech support who appears knows even less than I do. The device is fully paid off, the model is unlockable, I've got a stable version of android 13. Their tech support keeps transferring me or I get mysteriously disconnected. Even had a woman tell me I needed to remove my line from the phone account to make it free. I asked for clarification and she then said I basically need to remove the phone and line and service from the account first.
Please can anyone take pity on this noob? I'd really appreciate it.

Have you tried physically going to a Sprint store? I've had issues with AT&T in the past and the only thing that worked was going to one of their stores and talking in person.

No I haven't. I was kinda hoping that it wouldn't be necessary. I'm going to try again today. If all else fails then I suppose I'll have to take your advice.
