BRICKED ( While upgrading to Hard-SPL ) - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

Greetings mates,
Typical thread...Bricked Herms 100
But, very untypical.
I was upgrading to accomplish somesh** n prevent bricking.
Don't really know what happened.
I had sspl before as well.
Now i do not see anything.
No LED when plugged for charging
No LED when plugged via USB...
Just dumb blank screen, literally!
Any ideas n thoughts or I lost my 24days young Herms?
Anothe question I have is will HTC peeps come to know by any chance I was playing with my phone... It is not responding for power or anything basically. :/
I am newbie cooker... cooked n flashed 56.4 custom grilled rom... was struck in boot mode... thus flashed "Pays_WWE_305_Final_Full"... worked fine... booted... N then i flash Hard-SPL with 100% success but the phone is dead.
Attached is what I flashed.
Regards,
Sam

Yikes - Got a lil lucky for now.
It is 6 in morning and I was planning 2 sleep.
But, i wanted to try if i could get some positive result.
Removed the battery....
Plugged back the my baby to my comp...
Luckily I can see RED LED glowing.... hah, awesome.
But, not able to get her to bootloader mode.
Guess i need to try Jtag... for which i need to buy a cable whic i'll do today.
But, before that let me make tea and try mtty.... who knows i might get more lucky before i buy that cabel.
Good days guys....
==========
Right, 6:48 dusk.... :S
Plan to sliip(sleep) nou(now)....
Battry in my baby and RED led wont glow.....
Battry off my baby and she again starts to glow....
In humans its the other way... lol, if you know what i mean....
good nite for me.....

You can't boot to bootloader, what about a HR?
And are you pressing the right buttons for bootloader, ok button, power button and reset with stylus. Hold in until tri-colour screen appears.
Just asking as some people try holding in the camera button instead, thats another mode that works on some Hermes but not all - I can't think what it is as I'm pretty damn tired and my brain is shutting down...
Cheers...

Hmm...

Never tried one thing yet... battery replacement.
I hope when i get a new battery and plug it on my baby starts burning.
Anyways, good day!

Sam

I'd definately try the battery before playing around with the jtag method. Be a pain to accidently stuff up everything and find out a new battery would have fixed it...
Cheers...

bad thing is that it did not fix the issue.
I checked the whole market for JTAG cabels but not avail.
Thus building one using the method I saw on a site...
The link is below... this may help other users who yapp around to find the procedure. Senior members who already experimented with this methord to confirm if this would be ok stuff... .

Help! Power Button Not Working

Help Guys,
My Power Button is not functioning, when its on i cant turn off the screen by pushing the power button, I have to wait until it shuts down by itself.
and when it shuts down i cant turn it on again by pushing the powr button.
my way to circumvent this is by not enabling the key lock and by pressing any the other keys when its in sleep mode.
I Tried soft reset but it hard resets even if i didnt press the power button.
Should i send it back to HK?
I have the following:
XdaII
ROM ver 1.52.00WWE
Radio Ver 1.05.14
yeah it sounds like there is something wrong with the powerbutton switch
your problem may due to power botton is hang. i used to encounter with that problems. First is due to Battpack when i use shut-down button in Battpack, it's hang. when i soft reset it turn to hard reset. For sure, you need to uninstall any programs that interfere with button mapping and try to use for a period. IF Problems still persist, you should return it to your vendor.
tumtum,
I have the exact problem, but even doing a hard reset and installing only default programs (fresh install) my power button still does not fuction.
What else can i do besides removing sofware?
Help pls.
THanks,
there should be problem with oiwer-button. Like i said earlier, it should be problem with your device. You must return your device to your vendor and check for power-button. somebody in my town has been faced with that problem and he return it to the shop. Shop said it is rpoblem with power-button.
well the thing is..
today i let my friend press the button and whala it worked!
dont know how it happend by now it works fine
thanks for the replies
looks like you'll be spending pretty much time with your friend then
Ditto...
I currently have this problem, my xda II was dropped (by a so-called friend!) it was in a metal case thank god so theres no obvious damage. later that day a program crashed... so i soft reseted it. unfortunately it didnt it HARD RESET i pondered why then tried to turn my device off! with no avail... so b4 it gets repaired (under warranty) I took the black plastic off the back to see if the button was stuck under the casing.... when i peeled it off i looked for the button... it wasnt even there! altho theres no sign of damage wat so ever (no scratches or marks) on the casing, the power button has been clearly wipe
off the circuit board!! if u shake it u can hear it rattling in the depths of the XDA and now its off it doesnt hard reset on a soft reset anymore thank god! im fed up off re-customizing the damn thing and my nearest shop 4 repairs is 8 miles away :-( (brought on the net) so all in all maybe thats the same problem a few of u are experencing Good luck C2k4...
Same problem here ...any HELP
Hi Friends,
I screwed my HTC Hermes power button while trying to fix its earlier problem.
Now to turn the backlight on ..i changed the settings and I can now use any button to bring it out of Sleep mode....
I used a program available on this site to enter bootloader.
However, the problem remains when "power button" is to be pressed.
Any advice on how to get over the "Press power button" to start the ROM flashing....

There is a sticky at the top of this forum for flashing with a broken power button if you have a Himalaya. I am not sure if the same process would work for a Hermes or not, but I would be interested to know if it does. If you power button is still intact though it may not be worth breaking it to find out!

Umm what do you mean by "missing an OS"??
Hi Scott,
which XDA do you have? Do you get an error message when the device starts up? I don't know if this would help since the talk at this link is specifically about upgrading to WM 2003 from PPC 2002 and obviously you would need to have the previous OS on the PPC. However if you have an XDA I, this might give you a basis to work off of.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/pocketpc/upgrade.mspx
Have a look in the Wallaby FTP folder as well:
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Wallaby/
Good Luck
basically i bought it off ebay knowing there wasnt an OS on it, when i received the phone i cant turn it on, so how do i put the OS back on the XDA?
its an XDA PW10A1
Pressing the power button and doing a soft reset doesnt work, in fact nothing does, i cant get to the bootloader as the phone doesnt even switch on. The only thing i do notice is when i press hard reset the light near the headphone jack turns red. And sometimes the power light will flicker red, but thats all it does.
Ive got a memory card and I can write to it, if someone can help me get this thing back up and running i would be extremely grateful.

The symptoms you are describing are very similar to those that appeared on my PW10A2 recently.
Try the following:
Put it in the cradle for quite a period, say 15 minutes or so. If it comes up with some screen (whatever) take it out of the cradle, press the power on button while doing a soft-reset simultaneously. When it then comes up with the wallaby bootloader you may have good chances.
I managed (with the help of this forum) to get a new ROM installed from the SD by this method.
ok ill try that! thanks
how did you get the OS rom back onto the XDA?
Also could I be missing the Bootloader on the XDA itself?
ok i tried what you said and nothing works i dont even get a screen flicker!
i really need help as i dont have a phone at the moment and need it for work.

Hmm. Shot in the dark:
Blown fuse on the main board?
Does the LED get lit in any color when you put it in the cradle?
How long did you leave it in the cradle?
Do you have access to another cradle?
yeh i get the charge light when it sits in the cradle (orange light). plus i have two cradles n they both "appear" to charge it. Ive left the phone in the cradle for a whole day and nothing.
Did you do a cold reset?
Does it react (go on) if you press the on-button when it sits in the cradle?
Did you try the soft-reset+Onbutton (enter Wallaby boot loader)?
I'm no expert. I'm only repeating what I learned so far here in this forum
no mate none of those methods work either!
i aint got a clue whats wrong with it!!

bootloader not loading - not the typical problem

hi all,
after using task29 my system is now pretty much down. it's stuck at the htc screen as described in various threads an tutorials. usually this problem could be solved by using the bootloader (pressing volume down an power) i guess.
BUT:
Bootloader is not loading at all! i tried all variations of pressing an holding the buttons. the phone just vibrates once and a black htc screen appears...thats it. hard reset by holding all 3 buttons doesn't work either.
has anybody experienced this problem and found a way to solve it?
by the way: i was running goatrip 4.9 an had severe battery drain. so i decided to do it all new from scratch by using task29....went kind of wrong
please excuse my poor english!
yours, gamble87
any ideas?
after using task 29 you have wiped youre phone so it wont boot!!!
take youre battery out put it in hold volume down and keep holding and just press the power button dont keep holding the power button just press it.
What 3 buttons to hard reset!!! maybe you should of read up a little bit more first mate
believe me i've tried that a thousand times now . holding volume down and holding/pressing power (tried both). i also tried with and without being connected via usb. even tried with leaving the battery out a whole day and then reinserting it. no success....
with all 3 buttons i meant volume down + volume up + power button. at least this is what you read in the forums and see in various tutorials on the tube to do a hard reset when you're not using the sense menu...
i've been searching this forum for about 10 hours now...everyone else is able to manage this problem by getting into the bootloader, but not me. in fact this exactly is my problem, it just won't load....maybe theres a hardware problem...volume buttons broken perhaps. i really don't know
i'm trying to describe my problem as good as i can but i fear theres only a little left from what i learned at school

thats not how you hard reset.
There is no situation where you hold power.
To hard reset
Press, hold and keep holding volume UP and volume DOWN - you may find you get a much better press by removing the battery cover.
Tap AND RELEASE power, DO NOT keep power pressed.
I will repeat the part about removing the battery cover to get a better press, and also add that pressing first one violume, then the other also helps, rather than trying to press them both together.(Its one piece of plastic is the volume rocker, it isnt really meant to be pressed at both ends) Press one end till you feel the click of the button connecting, and then press the other end, till you feel the connection, and only then TAP AND RELEASE power.

Crap, right. I missed that. Not sure what to tell you at this point aside from returning your device (if they can't get into bootloader either and cannot hard reset it, then they can't fault you for a custom rom). Just play real dumb if/when you return it.

GUYS HELP! might have just bricked my phone

I went into clockwork recovery to flash the new bionix -v rom so i took the steps selected it in boot up it installed and i went back out and selected reboot now.
SO then like the moron that i am it didnt reboot right away so i waited about 30 seconds nothing came on. So took the battery out and put it back in. now it wont even turn on. ive even tried my jig with wont come on at all is it screwed. please tell me its not...
Go to the Bible and read up. I am guessing you probably need to use a usb cord plugged into the phone hold down the volume and start buttons then plug into the computer (make sure you already got Odin up)... that may be the way to get it to respond then odin back to JFD stock.
READ THE BIBLE this is in there somewhere it is the best source.

Did you come from a voodoo enabled ROM?
WHY did you do this?! It's stated so clear that it takes a long time on first boot, and you wait 30 seconds? My phone doesn't even boot normally (not off a fresh install) in 30 seconds. I've never had to use download mode, but I hear it can be pretty tricky so try all the methods you find many times to make sure it in fact doesn't work. But you'll definitely have to ODIN it looks like. Or you could go to T-Mobile and say you tried to use the 2.2 update from Samsung and it bonked your phone and see how sympathetic they are.
I think he means the screen was completely black for 30 seconds after he hit reboot. Bad sbl flash and hard brick most likely.
Happened to me when I tried to flash Nero for the first time. After a bit of tinkering I was able to Odin back to stock an then I just reflashed. Haven't had a problem since.
Make sure to disable voodoo.

Could you be a little clearer with these directions I would certainly be willing to try this method. However, since this has happened leaving the phone on the charger for anything over ten minutes it becomes pretty hot. Not that it really matters, I don't think the phone could be any more borked at this point.

[Q] Bircked my Folio?

if you can boot into fastboot you might be able to save your devise by pushing the revovery and rom to ur devise

Did you try to connect to fastboot? Maybe your screen is broken (or if you are lucky the screen connector is loose). Does it vibrate when you turn it on?
It is very improbable to brick this device by flashing something. At least I never heard of it. Only thing known to me to fully brick your folio is by pressing 4x Power and volume down on boot (don't try that...).
When i press the power button it does nothing, only the power led on the right turns green (white when on AC ).
Also, when i connect it to usb and do a fastboot devices i get no respons. Realy think i did something wrong and bricked it :S

apologize for interfering & oftop, but certainly cant keep silence - "impossible to brick" - same i was told abt my dell streak device, but here I'm with bricked device on hands, where only ORT-JTAG can help :-(
it was bricked when PC hanged during rom flashing....so I guess every chance is possible :-(
Shidima_101 can you describe in detail before/during brick ?
Well, I'm not really sure what i did. And i think that is the problem. I was installing a new rom, and left it unattended. When I came back, something was wrong and I started messing with some options. Witch turned out to be wrong i guess
Tho I'm a little further now. When I connect the tablet I my pc recognizes its there a device, but I'm not sure I can get it working again. Tomorrow I have some time to look at it more.
Sader0 can you give me some info on ORT-JTAG? Do you know if its possible to do this on the Folio100 ? I don't mind opening up the tablet to get it back in to working order.
I'm in the same situation.
After the update to the last version, my folio apparently boot but the screen is blank. The backlight is on but nothing appears on the screen.
I'm able to go in Fastboot or in recovery mode, but formatting cache. system and reflashing different roms do not solve the issue
What I should do ?
SOLVED !

Ok, I have a small update. After trying a lot of different stuff, and nothing working, I decided to bring my tablet back to the store. First I tried to get them to switch my device for a new one, but that was a no go. So the device was returned to Toshiba for a check up and fix.
I was a little afraid that they would find out that i rooted and bricked my device, but today I got a letter telling me I can come pick it up and it was fixed free of charge
So tomorrow I'm going back to pick up my tablet
