UK T-Mobile Touch Plus Upgrading - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus ROM Development

Hi,
I have been having problems with my phone freezing every so often and so have found doing a soft reset quite often. I was going to do a hard reset on my phone and thought I might put on the HTC WM 6.1. Has anyone with the same phone as me put this update on there phone?
I just what to know if the update has improved the phone at all and what radio version you might be using.
Any help and feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks

My T-Mobile Touch plus was needing a "full power cycle" at least every day. Used to keep loosing the clock or weather images and only way to get em back was powering off then turning back on.
Followed the guide on here, but used hard spl 1.21.
Flashed with the offical HTC 6.1 for touch plus.
Much better, no more power cycling the phone.
Just waiting for 6.5 to come along and try that, but at the end of my contract im going to switch to Iphone since they have announced "cut'n'paste" at last. Plus it has does push email. Getting fed up with the screen on the touch plus.

Hi Shoei
Thanks for the reply. I have upgraded to the official HTC 6.1 now with hard spl 1.22
I have notice a difference with performance already, and no more power cycling.

I've got the Similar Blank white screen problem....now the call answer buttons are not working....screen stays white and after a few calls will come back..
I'm going to try to upgrade to latest radio and wm6 build... I tried the cingular latest build, still same problem...maybe the radio will help.
Good luck and please post your trails/results.
Thanks
p.s. anyone else with this problem please enlighten us!
I am having the same problem I have HTC 8525 with AT&T. I updated to Schaps Rom 3.6a. The "answer and End call" buttons do not work now. I am getting frustrated. HTC would not cover this under waranty. I am going to downgrade the ROM to the factory and use radio 1.47. I will post any results.
well, i bought a vario 2 off ebay and didnt know anything about flashing the roms of these. basically i thought all was well until when i was going through a period of heavy use it started glitching, then after a while the whole screen just started fading into whiteness.
the seller never said anything about any faults, i'd installed a few spb apps and thought it was my doing so that caused this.
i did manage to flash the rom using the pof ones on here, but the problem is still there and now it even struggles to turn on. when it does i get the htc and wm6 welcome screen before it starts dying and it fades to the white screen as usual.
does that sound like anything anyone else has had?
Ive got a vario 3 now so its been left for several weeks. Still wouldnt mind getting it sorted though if anyone has any ideas.

WM6 Upgrade on my hermes.. call delay problems..

Hi there all,
<rant>
So I finally got around to flashing WM6 onto my hermes... to give you a bit of background; I had completely stopped using my hermes and had gone back to my ancient (in tech terms) Nokia 6230i after WM5 had become perishingly slow. It had become so much of a pain to connect to my parrot handsfree that I had stopped using that too... (£114 wasted). Also on every phone call there was at least a three ring delay from someone calling me, to my phone realising it should be ringing... not impressed.
So I thought that a flash to a WM6 rom might help, after having a look around for a little while, I went for Schaps 4.31, initially, its a massive improvement, the phone is quick and responsive, and generally runs much quicker, plus there are lots of nice little things like HTC home...
However the delayed phone ringing still seems to be an issue... when I am in the middle of using the phone or if the phone is out of standby and I receive a phone call, it seems to react much quicker than WM5 ever did, almost instantly realising that it should be ringing, much better. However, if the device has gone into standby, then it will completely ignore that there is an incoming call... It simply does not ring... I have just tried 3 or 4 times and my phone hasn't rung once, after I have hung up on my home phone I have been bringing the device out of standby to see if it has registered the call at all, as soon as I turn the device on there is a missed call on it...
This is so intensely irritating! As I am sure you can appreiciate! At least with WM5 there would be a wait of 3-4 rings beofre it brought itself out of standby and then it would ring, but with WM6, nothing! Surely I can't be the only one experiencing this? I can't even say that this might be just my hermes, as I had it replaced by vodafone about 2 months ago...
Sadly... I will be reverting back to my Nokia after I have written this, at least it is able to send/ receive calls without falling over... I cannot belive that I have a piece of hardware sitting on my desk that is, after all the bells and whistles, supposed to be a phone, and doesn't work as one!!! If an old Nokia can manage it why cant my hermes? At this moment there is a hermes selling on ebay of £139, I am very tempted....
Annoyingly my friends iPhone seems to do all the phone functions flawlessly along with lots of lovely web and data integration... It is still apple though..
Does anyone have any suggestions to improve my woes?
Sorry for the massive <\rant>

Update...
About half an hour ago I completed a radio ROM update to 1.56.70.11, I thought that updating the radio stack might go some way to solving my delayed call issues.
Well it hasn't helped at all. The acquisition of signal, and the strength of that signal seems improved, but if my device is in standby then it simply doesn't wake up if there is a call coming in. This effectively renders my tytn totally useless...
Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this? I am sure I can't be the only person experiencing this...?
For reference my phone is now running:
Rom: Schaps 4.31 LITE
Radio: 1.56.70.11
Any help would be hugely appreciated...
Trinityj5.
You could try updating the os to fix the standby problem... Schaps 4.31 LITE is fairly old now, If I was you I'd try a wm6.1... They're fairly stable now and are pretty quick too. You could also try to update the .net framework on your PDA to 3.5 but this may require you to do some registry tweaking. Easier to find a cooked os with .net 3.5 already cooked in.
I've always had my phone wake up when a call comes in - even in standby so not sure why yours doesn't. Could be a setting you or your network have imposed.
Make sure you've Hard SPLed your phone before flashing though...
Cheers...
Thanks for your reply ultramag, I think I did at some point have a 6.1 ROM on my hermes, and I don't think it made any difference to the call delay issues. I will flash one again tonight and then report back...
Which 6.1 rom would you recommend?
Why would updating the .net help with incoming call issues?
Cheers.
For the wm6.1 roms I prefer the PDAViet roms and PDACorner roms. Other roms are good too but I like these ones best...
I don't know if updating the .net framework on your phone will speed it up but it does seem to speed up windows. I may be wrong, but if you can speed up the time it takes windows to register the call then wouldn't it speed up the time it rings?
I believe you can change the call forwarding time up to 30 secs if the network only gives you 5 or 10. Its in settings>personal>phone>services>call forwarding.
Hope this helps...
Cheers...
Will upgrade to WM6 lock phone again?
Greetings to All and Thank God For this Forum
I successfully unlocked my Cingular 8525 >year ago. I am still running WM5. I would like to use a micro sd card greater than the 2Gb now installed and believe that is possible with WM6 OS. I'm concerned that I not lock my phone if I upgrade with AT&T's download of WM6. TIA-
docwollf, not sure posting in here will get you very far, try posting in the main forum...
ultramag69, thanks for your suggestion about the PDAviet and PDA corner roms, I tried both, and still my phone doesn't want to work.... Do you think that flashing an "official" rom might help? There has been some mention on here that if your phone starts to become unstable then flashing an official ROM may help, do you think it might help me?
Does anyone have any idea at all why my phone might not ring when it's in standby? Its starting to become intensely annoying to be honest....
Trinityj5.
Try flashing the official rom first, then flash your phone with hardspl, then try the new rom. That may work, but it almost sounds like you have a hardware issue.
Thanks for your reply backspacepc,
When I said to install an official ROM, I meant one like the at&t one or the dopod aisa one, I don't have a WM6 ROM for vodafone, they never released one... would going back to the Voda WM5, then hard spl, then a WM6 ROM help do you think?
I am thinking the same as you about hardware... is there a firmware upgrade at all? I have tried over 10 different ROM's now, some WM6 some WM6.1, still no improvement on the ring delay....
If I hadn't have voided the warranty by flashing etc, I would be sending it back....
Any help is hugely appreciated, as you can probably tell, getting quite exasperated with it now...
Trinityj5.
If you downgrade the SPL back to stock and the original os back to stock then you can take it back under warranty. There are instructions in the wiki on how to do this. I believe you may ALREADY have Hard SPL on your Hermes (to check go to bootloader - hold power, OK button above flywheel and reset with stylus, hold in untilyou get to the tri-colour screen. If your SPL is 2.10 olipro, its Hard SPLed) which means you're gonna have to downgrade the SPL. Unless you supercid your Hermes.
You can find the downgrade instructions, I believe, in mr Vanx's tutorials...
Cheers...
Thanks for your reply ultramag,
I do indeed already have Hard SPL on my hermes, I put it there...
I have been looking at downgrading back to stock and then seeing if I can get it replaced, I find it unlikely that voda will even consider it to be honest... HTC might though...
Is there a hardware upgrade that I can try out at all?
Cheers,
Trinityj5
If you open it then you will DEFINATELY void warranty... If you still are within the warranty period its better to send in for repairs than to fiddle yourself.
There are manuals floating around (HTC service manual) that tells you how to take apart and put your Hermes back together, just do a search. Or if you want try Mike Channon's webpage, found at the bottom of his posts. However, if you still have warranty, thats the best way to go...
Cheers...
Sorry! I didn't mean hardware upgrade, I meant firmware....
Are there any firmware upgrades around? It strikes me that the phone doesn't know how to handle a call when it is coming in, so it just ignores it... A firmware issue?
Cheers, sorry again for the mix up!

1st thing I'd do is to check all my settings. Both phone and volume. Maybe, if you back up and restore the same settings, you've backed it up for silent or vibrate only.
I know that when a call comes through that its slower to wake up from standby when it also has to access the sd card for an MP3 ringtone....
Check out, with Schapps advanced config, how long it takes the battery & AC to resume from timeout. I set mine to about 10 secs.
Also, you should check how much time it takes before call forwarding kicks in. Go to settings>personal>Phone>services>call forwarding. You can set it to a maximum of 30 secs.
These may or may not help, I'm just throwing ideas out.
Hope they help...
Well I didn't back up my settings, it was a brand new phone when I started so I didn't have any settings to restore.
I have mine set to 10 secs too...
My call forwarding is also set to 30 secs...
Thanks for all your suggestions, I think I might downgrade everything back to stock and see what happens from there...
I'm still wondering what exactly is going wrong in my device... It must be some kind of programming setting that has been set wrong... utterly bizzare... can anyone offer any advice to this end?

Touch screen is unresponsive... Please help

My touch screen will not work at all, everything else on the phone works just fine. I tried a hard reset and now I am stuck at the alignment screen. Any suggestions.. Anyone run across this error?
Thanks
reflash bro
put the stock rom back on
and then put the modded rom on
and it should be fine
Typically means something is interfering with the recognizer.
If you are using a protective case (shell) or screen protector, try removing them temporarily to see if they may be causing your problem.
I didn't have anything over the screen.. Any idea why it would do something like that?? I'm going to reflash to stock and back to modded ROM tonight and I'll let you guys know in the morning.. Thanks for your help.
Could be a "bad" flash.
If it still happens with the stock ROM flash, you may have a defective unit on your hands.
Hardware problem?
I had the exact same problem about a week ago. I tried reflashing the device, hard reset, etc. In the end, I couldn't even get past the screen calibration wizard. My conclusion was that I had some kind of harware problem -- the touch screen would respond intermittently for brief periods of time and then go unresponsive again.
My fix: I took the phone to my ATT service center who, much to my gleeful surprise, gave me a new one (warranty exchange) without any hassle. I expected to have to fight with them, but the transaction was trivial and stress-free.
I'm now deciding which WM 6.5 ROM I like the best. Many thanks to all the hard-working contributors and chefs on XDA for providing such awesome content and support!
Good Luck with your phone
i also had this problem recently. phone was working fine in the night, went to bed and woke up and was unresponsive. Tried everything. I ended up flashing back to all the stock stuff and sent it in for repairs. I got the screen and dpad replaced under warranty. I have no idea what caused it, but it happened. Definately not a software issue if you have reflashed...
my advise, flash back to stock spl and your carrier rom and send it back.
I had a similar problem and opened a thread as well. My problem in chronological order
1. Bought a TMobile MDA IV over ebay.
2. Flashed several different ROMs of WM6.1 and was just enjoying myself.
3. Installed a 6.5 ROM the calibration screen required me to go through 3 full circles.
4. Worked fine for a day, then the device was locked and watever I tried I just couldnt get to open it up
5. Did softreset, it didnt help either. I Would end up at lock screen
6. Finally got back to HTC stock ROM 6.1, and I couldnt get past the calibration screen for a month.
7. My conclusion as well, that its a hardware problem, unfortunatel where I live I dont have Tmobile and the screen from touch pro is slightly different in size to the tmobile variant.
8. Hence it was a brick!!!!
9. After a month just last week, I thought of trying to flash back to 6.5 and see if it works.
10. Went calibrating in circles for about 10 times and guess wat!!!! It starts up!!!!
Now my conclusions are as good as anyones, it cant be an hardware issue. I am trying to find a solution so I can reflash my ROM and go to a stable version and live with my phone atleast for an year.
The Mystic ROM lite version has touch response software built in, Could this be the issue.
Anyones got any idea let me know

Ive read everything and tried everything but screen is white after upgrading ROM

Hello Everyone,
I bought a verizon Titan with a kitchen ROM with WM 6.1. Yesterday I decided to try to cook one myself with WM 6.5. Everything was fine except ehe "start" button stopped working after some minutes. I cooked another opne with less programs. Then I thought it would be a good idea to use the Spbbackup I had to try to get some programs back. It told me that there has been a ROM update I clicked ok and it did its thing.
I had problems with that ROM so tried one that was in one called WM6.5Beta with WM 6.5 after that it boots, then I get a WM6.5 green screen and then the screen goes white. I though it was the Radio so I updated to the 3.42.5. No change, I tried the exitbootloader program no change. I tried to get another kitchen ROM into the Titan but the pc does not detect the Tytan. Ive tried everything I even used the las Sprint Stock Rom via Sdcard and it got to the Htc screen "no Radio". I installed the 3.42.5 Radio and I got to the WM6.5 green screen again and then it turns white.
The weird thing is that if I press the Powerbuton i get the "Power will be turned off and you may lose.." you know the usual. but I can not selkect either yes or no, the screen freezes and turns black. Another wird thing is that all the screens I see when I boot are the one I installed in my last kitchen ROM. I have tried millions hard resets, softresets, removing battery... I am really lost and I need my phone back!! Did I brick my phone? I can put new Roms and Radio through sd card method but this new ROMs dont seem to take effect since I always get the same screens...
Any help will be appreciated.
oh also If I slide the keyboard there is this "chimes" sound. So I guess a ROM is actually active but the screen is white and nothing else works...
The Flex Cable is going bad. Its the wiring so the screen can slide in and out. It can take abuse and go bad over time. Easy replace.

[Q] No new ROMM but "Stick Together" screen

Okay,
I just got this HD2 as a replacement two weeks ago and was doing fine except it was going dead each night- so they sent me a new battery.
I put in the battery this morning (54% chg) and was syncing/charging the HD2 when I got the message that due to some server problem (I don't even use a server) the entire phone would have to be re-synced. It happedned on my other phone some but not yet on this one. When I deleted the PC from Activesync, the phone looked like it did a hard reset, opening screens about keyboard etc, came up and no programs were apparent. When I looked at programs list, they were still there so I started executing them and they woulset back up.
On reset for one of these the HD2 got stuck at the second "stick together" screen, the one after the radio info had gone. I've tried pulling the cards, battery plugging it in, checked the battery pins, etc but it will not get past the Stick Together screen. I've seached myself blue but cannot find anything similar.
Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you,
OZ
1. Send it back if possible
2. Hard reset via volume keys - have you tried?
3. Flash new rom (stock or custom)
Give em a try!
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Yeah sounds like you need to do a hard reset.if this does not fix your problem flsh a new ROM.
Had to Master Reset...
Thanks you very much for your help.
I finally did a master reset using the buttons as recommended. No further toubles so far, but I have no idea what caused it to begin with...could happen again.
Considering a new ROM for sure. I've liked this stock T-mo more than I thought as I formerly did the ROM-a-week thing with previous phones.
The Voice command and random volume problems are the only real issues I can think of that would cause me to try a new one, but they are bad enough that I am looking. Any suggestions?
