May I get a working SBL from other Vibrant? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

who can give me a working SBL.bin for vibrant?
I think that will be possible to fix the 3-buttons issue.
Update: Yes!
I got sbl and boot from you guys and added them to my phone by using Odin boot loader update!
I used to want to re-flahs JI4 but I think patch files is easier and safer...
That indicated my guess is right.. and thanks you guys so much for your dump files!

I assume this is a working copy, it was included with the leaked JI4 update, which I flashed with ODIN, and my phone has working 3-button mode.
Good luck, cheers =)

I am absolutely positive I could not get into recovery mode with out adb before flashing this.

this is the "cant get into recovery mode" fix.

Friend told me he got the OTA update and it fixed the 3 button issue and he can now get into recovery , not sure if this is true or not, just relaying information

Thank you guys so much!!

Probably, but it sounds like you have a file that works, so there shouldn't be a need to patch it.

oh well when did this happen?? does it actually work??
also can someone make a update.zip for clockwork?

no, I just want to patch it by ADB downloading mode... I am key combo locked.

Moved to Q&A, if this progesses to DEV, let me know.

I'm honestly not sure exactly what you mean, but you can probably make an update.zip with redbend_ua to flash the SBL.bin to the right bml block, though I don't really know which block stores the SBL.
the update script should be something similar like this (this is how we flash the modem.bin via redbend)
Code:
show_progress 0.1 0
copy_dir PACKAGE:update TMP:/update
set_perm 0 0 755 TMP:/update/redbend_ua
run_program /tmp/update/redbend_ua restore /tmp/update/modem.bin /dev/block/bml12
show_progress 0.1 10
Else maybe download the entire leaked JI4 update, and flash it with ODIN, then verify the 3-button mode works with the SBL it flashes (its the same one I posted.)
Cheers

I made boot.bin & sbl.bin odin flashable, I flashed this 4 times on my own phone
with out any problems but your results may vary use caution when flashing firmware

load vibrant_recovery_fix.tar to PDA, no PIT

[Mod] Samsung Boot Logo Mod (Not bootanimation, SAMSUNG power on logo)

Not the easiest mod, and there is a chance for brickage or data wipe... Noobs beware...
Needed
Rooted Samsung Fascinate (tested with EB01 superclean 2.4)
Working ADB
Latest Heimdall (the Epic 4g thread warns against odin use, it says he soft bricked with it, and I used Heimdall anyway)
Hacked param.lfs to flash HERE
New jpeg boot logo size 480x800 (preferably less than 64k.. I flashed a 65k one and it booted fine though... just be careful)
Steps:
Enter download mode
Flash hacked param.lfs IN HEIMDALL IN THE BOX THAT SAYS PARAM.LFS, NOT FACTORYFS
Reboot normally, if it boots into recovery just reboot again
Ignore garbled text on bootup
Copy your new bootlogo to /sdcard/logo.jpg
Open ADB shell
Enter these commands:
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/stl6 /mnt/.lfs
cp /sdcard/logo.jpg /mnt/.lfs/logo.jpg
Reboot and enjoy!
Notes
Download mode might not show the download mode logo. It doesn't show on mine. Still works though.
In order to flash another logo, you have to re-flash the hacked param.lfs and then copy the new logo.
In order to flash completely back to stock, flash this param.lfs HERE

It's possible that if you really broke the param.lfs it wouldn't boot into download mode and show the graphic, but it would still be in download mode, just with nothing on the screen.
Has anyone, other than the original poster, have more guts than I do and tried this?
I am itching to do it (I want to piss off my friend by having an Apple logo ), but I am a bit afraid to try it...

If you flash that in an "PDA" section of Heimdall you will get what I got two hours ago, a serious brick!! You have to look in the Heimdall front end and notice there is a "param.lfs" box that you must flash it from (I assume anyway). Trust me I was dead in the water I had to delete heimdall for Odin to work again.
I think it should be clear in the first post, there are several posts about flashing it in PDA which is incorrect. Or am I wrong here?

In Heimdall, everything except the PIT file is under the PDA/Code heading. I think that's what you're reading. The first flash selection under PDA/Code is FactoryFS...

Unable to install ICS coming from 2.3.3?

Hello,
sorry if this has been answered before and I was not able to find the solution. I'm quite new to SGS2 (SGS1 kerneldev) and I think I'm missing something obvious here.
- Tried to upgrade 2 SGS2 (I9100) from 2.3.3 to ICS (stock Samsung) via Heimdall 1.3.1.
- Always end up in looping "S" logo.
- Tried flashing with bootloaders, without bootloaders
- Tried flashing with and without PIT
- Flash usually works fine, no error messages from 2.3.3 to ICS.
- Last try: XWLPG
- CWM works, download mode works
- Flashing back usually ends with issues flashing the Gingerbread modem
- Only I can flash and boot is a KK5 GB one.
I found a lot of threads with looping "S" -> to be solved via factory reset/wiping cache/removing battery -> does not work for me.
Used Heimdall cmdline:
Code:
/usr/bin/heimdall flash --cache cache.img --factoryfs factoryfs.img --hidden hidden.img --modem modem.bin --param param.lfs --kernel zImage
The only difference I can spot ICS/GB is that GB has a data.img, ICS does not.
Any help woul be greatly appreciated, thank you.
Could be a problem with Heimdall. Have you tried with Mobile Odin, assuming you're rooted?
it also usualy takes some time for the phone to boot first time... have you tried waiting for ~5min?

Ups, sorry, was answering fast as I was outside with my kids. Well, I generally trust Heimdall as I use it almost daily for various kernel versions and quite often to test new ROMs with my SGS1.
Is there a known issue with Heimdall/SGS2? Never read about something like that, that's why I'm asking. Until now I thought I'm missing some (important) step as the flash process did not give any error message and recovery works fine, the partitions look ok (after flashing Speedmod and mounting them in CWM -> ls -l /system /data /cache...) - only the "S" animation runs forever.
I'll try again tonight, not enough time right now. Thank you for trying to help.

Thanks again. Mobile Odin + repacked XWJLG worked coming from KK5+Speedmod.
I still don't know why Heimdall does not work for me on the SGS2 but at least this is a workaround. Thank you.

Need help !!! Touchscreen not responding

hi,
this morning i downloaded a i9305's stock rom in order to port it in my device (i9300) by using dsixda kitchen port tool. i ve flashed the edited rom and i got bootloop, then i tried to go to recovery i got black screen mixed with blue line (like a panic kernel). i pulled out the battery, flashed a stock rom by odin. the results are : touchscreen not responding, phone very slow to boot up
i tried everythings to restore it (factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, formated system, flashed original rom, full s/w with pit,pda,modem,csc....please help me
thanks
Allthough it is considered very risky try to flash stock fw with repartition ticked and pit file
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
yes i know but any solution ?
Stay a way from pit files if it boots .

so no response ?
no one can help me ?
You have asked got reply's tried most that can be advised all that is left is a paid for service repair .
jje
If you haven't tried already - I would repartition with pit first. (Make sure repartition is ticked)
If that fails then its possible the bootloader has been somewhat damaged. how far does the boot progress?
would need a sboot.bin that is within a tar file to flash via Odin - bit risky though!
edit
(can get sboot.bin.tar file from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1916796
but that thread is for phone s that do not go into download mode)
but research, so you are conffident about what your doing

I'm not sure what your asking?
AFAIK most of the drivers are within kernel and some with in ROM.
so if you successfully flash it with Stock ROM (includes kernel and ROM and modem) then they return to stock .
if your flashing is unsuccessful/failed on Odin, then you could try the SDcard technique
But personally I would send for warranty repair.

Try with latest Odin. 1.85 i think. Also, before you try, unistall the phone from the PC and be sure that you have the correct drivers installed. Another suggestion is to try a different USB port.
If you phone boots, you can try Mobile Odin, its on the Play Store. No so sure about this one because i have never used it, but i guess you could give it a shot.

You should not be bothering with ClockworkMod Recovery at all if you are flashing with Odin.
Recovery is built into the kernel.
Do all suggested above and also make sure you have a good usb cable. Cables do go bad.

What were you running before you decided to flash this? Stock Gingerbread? Stock ICS? Were you rooted before or are you now attempting to gain root? If rooted, were you running a custom GB rom or an ICS one? Answers to these will help determine how best you can be helped.

It seems you need to Odin flash a rom with a kernel that includes CWM recovery.
You are new here so the first place to go are the stickies like here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1301682
Work from there and READ, READ, READ!!! Learn what you need because there is a huge amount of "old timers" here that will not spoon feed you any information.
It has been so long since I had to root my phone from stock and load a kernel with CWM recovery. I will try my best to help but will be pretty busy tonight. There may be additional knowledgeable people helping you in the meantime.
Good luck!!
Edit: Firmware corrupted may be an incomplete download. Try downloading the file again. BTW: Don't bother trying to Odin flash CWM recovery....it is built into custom kernels.

You are correct. Didn't mean to step on your toes. Just thought I'd remind him of what the ROM's OP stated.

Odin FAILS at boot.img..

Ok here is my problem.. While testing 4.3 TW and trying to get wifi working for you guys I screwed up my phone.. Ok yes I know how to use Odin to return to stock..blah blah but hear me out..my steps were as follows..
I was on our port from att 4.3 tw here..
I used these files here:
Misc ------------------
Here is the new 4.3 Bootloader
just in case its needed . so you don't have to flash one click just to get there
Contains
4.3 sboot.bin param.bin and tz.img from the latest I317UCUBMJ4 Att 4.3 leak
http://d-h.st/q3a
to flash sboot, param, and tz.img to see if that would kick my wifi on..
Now I am stuck with a screen that flashes Samsung Galaxy Note II when powered on and nothing happens.. no recovery
I am able to get into DL mode but when I try to flash a Stock Odin image or Kies it fails with and without the .pit file.. and seperatly as well
I have tried to use Heimdall to flash everything seperatly but it does not go through.. It sees my device.. I select everything fine.. and nada no progress nothing..
I truly think I have hard bricked my device!!
ANy help would be MUCH appreciated

you've probably tried this, but have you tried to flash the alt vramc3 Odin image? i believe that odin img doesn't have the vramc3 bootloaders.

I did the exact same thing. I was able to flash back to stock using VRLJB.

How's $200 plus shipping? It has a screen cover so there's no scratches on the screen and very little if any on the body. It's unlocked with Tweaked VZW Remix rom and it's been completely wiped.

What firmware did you use in ODIN? I used 4.1.1 VRALJB because that's what my phone came with out of the box and I had no issues flashing it. I never took an OTA...also I could not get into recovery mode easily it took a few tries and finally went into TWRP.
