Restore back to stock - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I havent used my droid Eris in a while because I got a droid incredible. I need to sell my eris because of the rough economy. Im running kaos froyo and CWM recovery. What steps should I follow to bring my phone back to total stock? Im unfamiliar with the restore process of the droid eris. Is their a PBM1img.zip file that i can flash? I would like it to have the latest (Rom)software available for it from HTC.
I very unfamiliar with the stuff for the eris so if their is a back to stock thread i can follow please let me know.

Just flash the flashback 1.5 Rom. It will take you back to stock 1.5 and stock recovery. Only exception is your bootloader will remain at s-off and there is no way to change that

Or just send me your DI.

Search the Eris Android develpment thread for Flashback 21 look for the threat with restore to factory stock in the title and follow the instructions in this thread and you should be good to go. The eris will not ota to 2.1 anymore. If you want 1.5 the instructions are there for that one as well.

Just sell it rooted....

[Q] Why SBF?

Ok so I've looked and not really found a more specific reason to my question. Why do I have to SBF to stock 2.3.4 If I am running say liberty and want to go to cm7? I guess I'm confused as to why because they utilize the same kernel correct? Sorry probably a stupid question but just not understanding it

You don't have to sbf. People like to sbf because its a "clean slate" I switch between eclipse 2.3.5 and cm7/miui all the time and haven't sbf'd in a week.

You don't have to SBF unless you want to go back to stock, which includes if you've removed any bloatware, etc.
In the case of going from Liberty to CM7, you don't have to SBF since both are based off of the 2.3.4 kernel. You could just flash CM7 over your Liberty install.
However, if you are on 2.3.3, then you WILL have to sbf or apply an OTA update to get you to 2.3.4 since the kernels are different.
If you are on Eclipse 2.0.x, which is based off of 2.3.5, then you will have to SBF back to 2.3.4 before installing CM7, Liberty, Eclipse 1.3, etc.
In the end, you don't HAVE to sbf, but if you don't when going from a 2.3.5-based ROM to a 2.3.4-based ROM (or vice versa), then it's use at your own risk and don't blame the developer for any issues.
Thank you to both of you for the explination...sorry for the stupid question...the last phone I had was the original Droid that for obvious reason was a bit easier to do this with...my experience with the dx2 being locked is limited...I appreciate the help

2.3.5 is basically the same as 2.3.4 though the roms based off 2.3.5 work fine if not better on 2.3.4 IMHO

can someone help me with flashing this thunderbolt back to verizon, ive been trying to figure this out. thanks
You want to go stock, right? Try flashing one of the old froyo roms and you should get a vzw ota for gingerbread. Don't know if that will get you s-on tho....
it is currently flashed to pageplus right now and i want it to go back to verizon

New MAXX

I just got an un-rooted VZ ICS OTA'ed RAZR MAXX. My questions are:
1. Is it pretty easy to root?
2. If I root and install a custom ROM, and after 7 days want to return the phone to VZ, How will I go back to sock? As far a I know no ICS FZX has been leaked for RAZR MAXX yet... right?
All help will be greatly appreciated guys...

Best to just wait till your sure your gonna keep it.
But, if you want to try it out what you want is Matt's DroidRazrUtility 1.7, it has what you need to root and SAFESTRAP, which from my understanding allows you to keep your stock system on the "unsafe" side and load a second ROM on the "safe" side, I've not used it myself and there seams to be few guides for TOTAL newbs to safestrap.

help. suggestions please

Okay guys. I haven't used this Eris in a couple years it's running the newest omfgb and that's the last time I messed with it my friend has had it and I want to update it a little for him.. It don't have service so data working ain't an issue just something smooth and overclocked to atleast 810mhz
The main reason IM asking is because I've seen so much about soff and unlocking the bootloader I don't remember doing that when I started flashing it... Just wanna make sure because IM not wanting to brick this thing
Go into the downloader by holding volume up and power I think. If there is a reboot menu when you hold the power button then you could maybe do it that way. I haven't used my eris in over 2 years but I remember running omfgb and loved it until one of the updates broke it. If you want a better Rom the best one I could suggest to you is condemnedsouls cm7. It's a solid Rom and is actually sill on my Eris.

how to put froyo on HTC droid eris.
I've tried.. Vanillla Tazz v28
I've tried.. [ROM]KaosFroyo V39
And none of these links work? Are there any other links to upgrade the HTC droid eris from 2.1 to 2.2 or higher, that work? :fingers-crossed:

Yes. Look for either GSB, Condemned Soul's CM7, or Evervolv in the development forum. All of those links should be valid. The first two are Gingerbread CyanogenMod ROMs and are excellent. I haven't tried Evervolv myself but it should be good as well. KaosFroyo is not worth the bother; in order to get it working well, there was always a bit of manual tinkering that needed to be done anyway. If you absolutely want a Froyo ROM, CELB was always good. (The GB ROMs are better, though.)
Also, If you are using ClockworkMod as the default recovery, as soon as you possibly can, replace it with Amon_RA recovery. Search for Scary Alien's recovery, which is a version of Amon_RA that is trackball-optional. There have been numerous Erises that have bricked from using Clockwork as the default recovery.

I would recommend taking a look at this guide that shows you how to flash an SBF file for the Droid X2 that will downgrade your phone to Android 2.3.4. After you complete that process I would recommend taking a look at this video that will walk you through the process of installing CM10 on your Droid X2. Let me know if you still have questions I'll be happy to help you out.
