I would recommend taking a look at this guide that shows you how to flash an SBF file for the Droid X2 that will downgrade your phone to Android 2.3.4. After you complete that process I would recommend taking a look at this video that will walk you through the process of installing CM10 on your Droid X2. Let me know if you still have questions I'll be happy to help you out.

Restore back to stock

I havent used my droid Eris in a while because I got a droid incredible. I need to sell my eris because of the rough economy. Im running kaos froyo and CWM recovery. What steps should I follow to bring my phone back to total stock? Im unfamiliar with the restore process of the droid eris. Is their a PBM1img.zip file that i can flash? I would like it to have the latest (Rom)software available for it from HTC.
I very unfamiliar with the stuff for the eris so if their is a back to stock thread i can follow please let me know.

Just flash the flashback 1.5 Rom. It will take you back to stock 1.5 and stock recovery. Only exception is your bootloader will remain at s-off and there is no way to change that

Or just send me your DI.
Search the Eris Android develpment thread for Flashback 21 look for the threat with restore to factory stock in the title and follow the instructions in this thread and you should be good to go. The eris will not ota to 2.1 anymore. If you want 1.5 the instructions are there for that one as well.

[Q] Why SBF?

Ok so I've looked and not really found a more specific reason to my question. Why do I have to SBF to stock 2.3.4 If I am running say liberty and want to go to cm7? I guess I'm confused as to why because they utilize the same kernel correct? Sorry probably a stupid question but just not understanding it

You don't have to sbf. People like to sbf because its a "clean slate" I switch between eclipse 2.3.5 and cm7/miui all the time and haven't sbf'd in a week.

You don't have to SBF unless you want to go back to stock, which includes if you've removed any bloatware, etc.
In the case of going from Liberty to CM7, you don't have to SBF since both are based off of the 2.3.4 kernel. You could just flash CM7 over your Liberty install.
However, if you are on 2.3.3, then you WILL have to sbf or apply an OTA update to get you to 2.3.4 since the kernels are different.
If you are on Eclipse 2.0.x, which is based off of 2.3.5, then you will have to SBF back to 2.3.4 before installing CM7, Liberty, Eclipse 1.3, etc.
In the end, you don't HAVE to sbf, but if you don't when going from a 2.3.5-based ROM to a 2.3.4-based ROM (or vice versa), then it's use at your own risk and don't blame the developer for any issues.
Thank you to both of you for the explination...sorry for the stupid question...the last phone I had was the original Droid that for obvious reason was a bit easier to do this with...my experience with the dx2 being locked is limited...I appreciate the help

2.3.5 is basically the same as 2.3.4 though the roms based off 2.3.5 work fine if not better on 2.3.4 IMHO

[Q] ETA on Fastboot file for Razr using ICS

I'm needing to get a replacement Razr Maxx. However I just applied the leaked .211 ICS "OTA" update file. I know I can't use the Razr Utility to restore to GB. Does anyone know when the Fastboot file will be released for ICS for the RAZR? I don't know how to revert my phone to total stock until it's released.
Anyone? Got RAZR issues and need to revert to stock but it has to be 6.16.211 ICS.

Fastboot file has been out for a while now, check out at droidrzr.com:

You'll have to put the link together yourself as I'm a new member here and can't post links yet lol
***EDIT**
If you're already on .211, then you're okay. the .211 update file is the fastboot file.

Would this work if I'm on the Razr with OTA ICS update applied? I'm looking for a way back to GB, if it's even possible.
I recently got a Razr, so I'm not sure how fastboot files were. I came from a Droid X, and have lots of experience with CWM and flashing roms that way.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

No, it is not possible to flash back to GB once on the ICS OTA. I'm not exactly sure why you would want too... ICS is a better and more stable form of Android.

New MAXX

I just got an un-rooted VZ ICS OTA'ed RAZR MAXX. My questions are:
1. Is it pretty easy to root?
2. If I root and install a custom ROM, and after 7 days want to return the phone to VZ, How will I go back to sock? As far a I know no ICS FZX has been leaked for RAZR MAXX yet... right?
All help will be greatly appreciated guys...

Best to just wait till your sure your gonna keep it.
But, if you want to try it out what you want is Matt's DroidRazrUtility 1.7, it has what you need to root and SAFESTRAP, which from my understanding allows you to keep your stock system on the "unsafe" side and load a second ROM on the "safe" side, I've not used it myself and there seams to be few guides for TOTAL newbs to safestrap.

HELP WITH [JB]CyanogenMod 10 Alpha 2

I installed this ROM onto my friends Droid X2, but I think the GAPPS messed up the phone. The link given at [link not allowed] doesn't give you a straight forward GAPPS link, so I think maybe that's the problem. Just stuff like receiving calls doesn't really work. If this is a problem of the ROM can anyone point me in the direction of a High Quality ROM for this phone? Thanks
The link originally was to: [ROM][ALPHA][JB]CyanogenMod 10 Alpha 2 [UPDATED 10/7/12]
Were you on 2.3.4 or. 2.3.5 if you flashed cm10 over 2.3.5 that will happen sounds like sbf time

Nope. My friend was running some "Eclipse" thing. But it was CRAZY slow. Now, CM10 is fast, but it just doesn't work right.
But, I now remember that I did have to do some thing and I downloaded 2.3.4 and then I had to flash CM10. Is there any ICS roms that work perfectly?

ICS And Jelly bean both do not work perfectly on our phone. Not saying they are bad though. Our phone is a Gingerbread phone and that can't be changed. Your best bet is to put a Gingerbread ROM on it. CM7 is a good ROM. And yes, you have to be on 2.3.4 for it. If you put Eclipse on it, you need to be on 2.3.5.
If you flashed cm10 without sbf back to 2.3.4 that would cause no raido there for no cell no 3g and eclipse is 2.3.5
