Something strange happen. The other day I cannot receive sms at all. Try to fix with my regular way but still no luck.
So in clueless way, I tried to free up more space with uninstalling some of my apps. And suddenly all the sms came in.
Did anyone experienced this problem? Any solution? Or can we change the option about it? Or can we change the condition about the low on space? Please help. ^_^

I had the same issue today, just got the phone a few days ago, would not receive SMS.
Called tech support, advised to do a reset to factory...that fixed the issue but naturally everything i set up disapeared.... i hope this does -not- happen again.
It happen when I got notification my phone low on space. And when I freed up the space. I got the SMS. Anyone with solution please?

Yes I too am recieving this problem. I hate it we need a fix asap!
Maybe a reset like I had to do would fix the problem but of course you would lose everything. I'm considering rooting my phone so that I can safe apps on the SD card. Does your problem.with receiving sms disappear when you clear up some space?

Yes. As long as no low on space notification, I'm doing just fine. The problem is HOW to work around it. I surely want to use my space more but have my SMS too. T_T

Apparently this is an issue since android 1.6 don't know with 1.5 and haven't fix till 2.2.1 . This is very big issue. Sms use very tiny space and this is ridiculous that we can't receive any sms when the notification low on space appear.
Is there any way to attract google attention (maybe online petition?) or work around for this matter?
There is a lot of people already submit this issue even in google site but apparently there is no fix yet. T_T

Clearly the workaround here is for Android to reserve system memory to use for sms... hopefully it'll be updated in the next update

It happen because of android OS not because of SE and from what people said it's not fix yet until Froyo. T_T And the most annoying is it use percentage. Below 10% of our space which is quite a lot, around 44MB and we already cannot receive sms. Compare to another android phone with fewer disk space. If you know what I mean.

SMS & Gmail App failed because of Low Phone Memory
Even I was wondering why am not receiving any sms (sent to myself)... Then once googled I found reason being Low Space on phone memory... One more problem associated with this was my Gmail App didn't refresh at all(even connected thro' high speed wifi) . Today I cleared few apps and Low Memory Notification Vanished and after sometime I saw mails on my Gmail App (refreshed thro' EDGE )... What kinda of issue...
I hope there should be a file which specifies Limit for Low Memory Notification...

That's what I expected, so we can modified the limit. But till now haven't found solution for this. I'm afraid, the limit is hard code into the OS.

hello,
I got an X10 one week ago, and today I had to reset the phone to factory settings after it would no longer receive incoming sms. Anyone ever have this issue? I hope it doesnt occur often.
Question I have is this:
I'm using Handcent SMS, and I also use advanced task killer to close applications running in the background that I dont need.
Whenever I close 'Messaging' app, which I assume is the program used for sms from factory, it just starts itself back up.. is it supposed to keep running?
I also use startup auditor to keep certain programs like face recognition from starting on boot, but currently dont have 'Messaging' disabled.
I think messaging needs to be there fire notifications to work properly. My messaging app runs everyone I get a message, things got weird when I froze it with tb.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Hmmm... I used to use Handcent SMS when the old Xperia sms application was full of bugs (couldn't compose multi-line messages, sms auto convert to mms after 300 words, the way it displayed message was like a weblog's shout-out box, making it hard to read).
When I was using that, I did not ignore the Xperia messaging app from task killer, and I fully disabled it from Startup Auditor.
That didn't affect my Handcent SMS at all.
I dont think killing it or blocking it would make a difference as neither the phone speeds up nor there is any effect on the battery usage by killing the messaging service.

Ummm... I think his main concern is worrying that his phone's sms sending/receiving capabilities would be screwed if he attempts to block it or something, not about affecting the battery life (._.")

Yes, correct... thus far, since the reset, it has been fine. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thx for the input, guys.
Since updating to 2.1 I've had a few issues with the stock messenger.....a few times I've had send failed messages, then the recipient got the same text several times (lol) and lately I haven't been getting any notification of new texts until I actually open the messenger.
Is there something I can do to resolve this???
btw, I've looked for the stock 2.1 messenger apk around here, but I can't find it....can someone please provide me with a link

Are you AT&T? If so, I had the same problem, especially with long text and MMS sending pics. I believe it was a problem within the APN. I don't know exactly how, but now I have 2 APN'S and the problem seems to be solved. I have MEdia Net and MEdia Net MMS, which is the AT&T brand name for their browser/network. I have tested the every APN setting posted in the forums, and they are the only ones that deliver large pics and 4page texts consistantly. If you need the settings, post here.

yeah, I am using AT&T....that is actually part of my issue, and the other part is that the notification doesn't show up sometimes until I actually open the messenger.
I've downloaded handcent, and re-installed conversations.apk (the 2.1 messenger) just in case, and so far so good, but I haven't tried a really long text or large pic yet...I'll do that and see what happens

We have discussed the task killer apps extensively here. And the consensus seems to be that they actually cause more harm than good.

Agreed if you just installed and use default settings, but if you take the time to hand set it up, it is a really useful app. Especially kill when screen off saves battery and data. I find I still have 30% battery on day 2 without charging. Without it my battery last 1 day max. If task killer effects an app/phone performance, then set it to ignore. No reason not to use it at all. Without it most apps with permissions would run continuously.

My battery is at 62% after more than 48 hours since unplugging it. I am an average user as I browse, text, calls...etc very frequently. I do not use ATK or juice defender anymore as I did not find any difference.

I probably use my phone a lot more than the average person. I run my own business with my phone when I am out of the office, not to mention my new addiction to the xda app.
I check my ATK frequently because every day is a balancing act of battery vs usage. After using my browser for 30 minutes, I can't believe how many of my installed apps are running for no reason...the list is 2 screens long sometimes.
Without ATK I wouldn't have any way to free up my system?? Are you saying apps running in background or when screen off is better than using ATK?? Hard for me to believe, but you haven't mislead me yet, Batman. I'll give it a try and report back.

Even if you see a long list of apps, sometimes it is not the whole app that is running but only part of it for a while to do a certain task. Android then terminates them when they are idle for a period of time. I also have my brightness set on the lowest setting and only switch on WiFi/3G when I use them. You can download toggle widgets (e.g. APNdroid) from the market to make it easier to toggle these settings.
Also, if you have weak 3G coverage in your area, then that also drains the battery as the phone is constantly searching for the 3G network. Therefore, sometimes I switch my network mode to only 2G (or GSM only) networks rather than GSM/WCDMA preferred.
In conclusion, there are many factors that contribute to how fast your battery is drained, and apps running in the background is certainly one of them but, definitely not the only reason.
Let us know how it goes

My solution is handcent It's much better for me than the stock app. The stock app is working, though. I tried mms & sms....both are fine. I found the custom vibrate feature in handcent and now I can actually feel it vibrate when I get a text because it stays on for a full second!!!
Did you uninstall stock app? I'm still trying to figure out why I seem to be the only one who has 2 APNs? It reverts back even if I change it, but it works.

Have seen this on my previous Xperia S a reboot solved the issue and everything is back looks like a bug
Its to do with the internal mem, if you install to the phone mem the apps wont vanish , if you install the the " SD " some apps vanish . When you restart the system the internal mem fires up last on boot up , hence the phone seams to already allocate its mem to phone.
I hope this is fixed asap , as it bugging me !!
As to what apps get deleted, it seams random . I have 87 apps now on my phone , and don't want to start putting them all in the phone mem!

I have this problem as well i thought it wasn't just me. Sometimes my xperia s crashes randomly when im in an app(wtf) then when i reset the phone an app might be gone. It seems everytime you restart the phone you might lose an app. So try and dont restart till they come out with a fix...
Never had this issue,Maybe a factory reset ot format the sd can solve this problem.
I have this issue constantly with eBay, PayPal, Quickoffice and insider. I now leave these apps on the phone memory. Bloody pain in the arse.

Never seen this type of behaviour on my XS, however what I did have on my older Android phones was that after a reboot you can see the app icon, but on clicking it it says "App isn't installed". This is purely for "SD" apps and after a few seconds (depending on the speed of your phone) you should be able to open them, but never had them completely disappearing.

I have seen a lot of posts that says lag in dialer app - takes 4-5 seconds to load etc
In my s3 I have the same problem, but in addition to that when I try to access call logs of particular person from logs tab by touching records, it does not open when I turn off the phone, take the battery out for 4-5 seconds then I am able to access it, after a day or two the same problem shows up.
what to do? any permanent solution?
I am on rooted stock 4.0.4 ics
EDIT :
Sometimes even the call history doesn't gets saved.
please help guys sometimes i get important calls and i can't even see from which number did i got the missed call.
P.S. this only happens once in a while. But It is very frustrating, i cant even see the people who called me, miss calls or whom i call.

I think the only solution is to MOD contacts app so that it can be kept in memory permanently so it can load faster.
I dont know about programming, is it possible to port AOSP contact in Samsung S3 with JB ROM?

Not sure if this is a Note 2 thing or an Android thing, but I don't remember having this problem with my Evo 4G.
Right now my sms tone doesn't play correctly, it's like the first half of it gets skipped. People say it's because I have too many texts and I need to delete some of them. I think it's kind of ridiculous that I have to do that. I never deleted texts on any of my previous phones and never had this problem. I don't remember if it did it stock because I rooted and flashed almost immediately lol.
So far it's done it on CleanROM and Beans 7.
Is there a way to fix this or are we seriously forced to delete messages every so often? I already have auto-delete turned on but it doesn't help.
I always had that problem on my GS3, not the Note 2 yet, but it didnt matter how many messages I had or if I didnt have any at all it always cut off half of the tone. It did it to me on stock before I rooted and unlocked and after, it did it on TW and AOSP also.

So what's causing it? It's kind of strange that everyone is so nonchalant about it.
Like "yeah my phone does that, too, you get used to it."
Never had that on any phone. Is your tone huge or stored on an odd place?
I had this problem on my s3 also, what's happening is your texts are set to a 200 message limit, as you receive a new text over that limit it's deleting a text message in that thread to make room for the new one coming in (you should notice this happens with the most frequently messaged contacts) as it's deleting the notification sound is being interrupted, what you could do is raise your text limit instead of deleting the message thread that is causing the problem (the one over the 200 message limit) by opening your message app / menu /settings/text limit
Hope this helps..
Do the same with multimedia also, just to be safe..

Everyone always said I had to delete messages, so I lowered the limit to 100. I'll try raising it and see if that helps.
I have mine on a 1000 limit and haven't had that issue. That being said, when I switch roms I don't save messages and that usually happens before I hit the limit.
